The schnitzel was wonderful. It was affordable and the portion was huge. I came here with a bunch of friends. They had no problem finding a table, even though the place was crowded and the service was very quick.

Google
Nice restaurant and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The food is mid, but still worth a visit if you want a proper schnitzel. The portions are big which make it well worth the money. We arrived at around 19.30 just before the dinner rush and were lucky enough to get a table for an hour. Other people who came after us were not so lucky. So would recommend booking a table to avoid disappointment.

I visited this place for brunch after finding it on google maps. This place in itself has a warm cozy atmosphere. The place is still quite empty during my time of visit. From my experience, I think you have to take your order at the counter near the entrance instead of at your table. I ordered the schnitzel, which unfortunately tasted a bit bland with only the mushroom sauce being the major contributor of the taste. The Bratkartoffeln was also bland with couple of spots being burnt. But my biggest problem is the fact that it is so greasy. That is the first thing that I noticed, which is why I didn’t quite enjoy my experience alongside that the waitress forgot to input my order after writing down my order. Which is weird because the restaurant was not busy at all during my time of visit with only 1 table occupied. Overall, I guess unfortunately I must say I didn’t quite enjoy my time here.

One of the best meals we had in Hamburg. We went at an odd timing around 3pm so the restaurant was empty. Food came really quickly, we ordered two schnitzels with mushroom sauce, as well as 2 beers. The portions were huge and you'll definitely leave with a full stomach. The schnitzel was perfectly cooked and tasted so good together with the mushroom sauce which was filled with chunks of mushrooms. Beer was really good as well, we got a wheat beer and a radler. Spent about 45 euros for 2 people. Definitely will visit.

Spontaneous decision to have lunch at this restaurant with a local friend in April 2023 after we visited the Dome theme park. We read the google review before decided to eat here and was sceptical because a lot of reviews mentioned about the rude and unfriendly staff. It was correct as we felt unwelcome when we said that we didn’t have a reservation. The staff allowed us to enter but told us that we need to leave in an hour. There were only a few customers when we were there and a lot of empty tables. It was annoying when she wanted us to quickly order the drinks as soon as she gave us the menu. When the schnitzel arrived, the staff looked unhappy when my friend requested for a slice of lemon. Of course the schnitzel was delicious but I won’t come again to this restaurant from this awful experience.

Google
It was really worth going to this restaurant for thr chicken. The food and service were excellent. The waitress even provided advice that we should not ordered so much as the portion were big. Enjoyed the food.

Google
Great value high quality food. €52 for 3 people with drinks. I had a huge Wiener schnitzel. Very nice atmosphere. Very clean modern toilets. Highly recommended.

Google
The schnitzel is amazing, but the people in the restaurant is a little wierd 😂 Update after third visit in total of 9 years. Still a bit strange staff. not unpleasant, but not pleasant. Still good food, and good value despite increased prices.

Yelp
Erikas Eck is a true Hamburg original! This place does not want to be hip or follow any trends they just focus on providing very good traditional (northern) german food. That's probably the only downside for me as I am vegetarian and they lack a bit in that department but I always get the "Bauernfrühstück" without the ham. This is basically an Omelette with potatoes and pickled cucumbers on top and it taste just like I remember it from my childhood, so just for that I go there ... I am sure they even have more dishes that are vegetarian but I never tried. The most special thing will be their opening hours as their kitchen is open all night long which makes the place also popular among party people also there is a table reserved for cab drivers.

Yelp
This place is hard to review. The vibe and the atmosphere weree 4.5 *'s - as other reviewers have said, it's a pleasantly unpretentious place. The food was about 2 *'s and it's definitely a case of quality over quantity. I got currywurst - the curry sauce tasted bottled, and the sausage wasn't well cooked. My kids got schnitzel and they said it was "mid". Honestly I think German food kind of caps out at 4 *'s - there's only so much you can do with boiled potatoes and kraut and sausages.

Yelp
Friendly place, locals come here, great beer, tasty schnitzel - it's all you could ask for.

Yelp
Schnitzel in Varianten, Currywurst. Frikadelle mit Senf. Pommes. Reeperbahnübriggebliebene finden bei Ihr Verständnis und Frühstück. Schlaflose einen überflüssigen Kaffee. Unnachahmlich, original, unbedingt besuchen!

Yelp
After hearing great things about this restaurant from Yelp and my co-workers, I was keen to try it out. I tried booking at midday on a Saturday for that night but it was booked out so I booked for Sunday night instead. When I arrived, I ordered a Jägerschnitzel. I was hoping for a great schnitzel and that's what I got. The schnitzel was tender and covered in a glorious crunchy batter and the gravy was so smooth. The meal also came with salad and plenty of potatoes. Altogether, it made a delicious and filling meal. I am definitely planning to check it out again in the near future.

Yelp
I read so many things about this place I had to come to check it out. I was in town for business and convinced my boss to go there for dinner with me. We took a taxi from our hotel and even the taxi driver said so many good things about this place I couldn't wait to get there! We got there are 6:30pm the restaurant was busy but there were empty tables. We stood for while waiting for someone come talk to us. When the waitress came I said I wanted a table for two I don't speak German and she didn't speak English so she yelled at me saying "NO, No,no" pointing to the door. Everybody at the restaurant was looking at us. I've never felt so humiliated in my life! Just because I am not German or speak German it doesn't mean she had the right to treat me like that. I was deeply disappointed! So if you are not German or you don't speak German you better avoid this place unless you want to be mistreated.

Yelp
We didn't reserve a table, but we got lucky and they were able to fit us in. A smile goes a long way. As far as the food, it's so worth it/ You can get a huge meal for only 10 euros!

Yelp
Yelp knows this place is good so I won't spend too much time on this review. The portion sizes are huge. Whereas I could devour a Chipotle burrito bowl without blinking, I could barely get through half of the meal I ordered. This is a nice gem that is far from tourist quarters - authentic food with true locals. 4 stars because the guy wasn't exactly friendly. Other reviews have suggested he speaks good-perfect English but that certainly wasn't the case this time. There was an actual visible and audible scoff when I asked for a to-go container and again when I asked if credit was accepted. He was lucky I had exact change in cash, but I certainly was not planning on tipping either. Service was slower than expected overall, but I am not sure what is entailed in making of a schnitzel so I won't take a star off for that. Once at this place is probably good enough for me. YMMV depending on his mood I guess.

Yelp
This was my favorite meal the entire time we were in Hamburg! Located in the trendy neighborhood of Sternschanze, this restaurant wants seemingly nothing to do with trends - it's a hole-in-the-wall bar on a quiet street with an archaic looking entrance. When you walk in, it's equally unassuming - old tables, old chairs, even an old bartender, who sings customers orders to himself while pouring various drinks and bringing out large trays full of plates effortlessly. I was concerned that this was just too small and local for us to enjoy it, but the bartender spoke perfect English and helped us through the menu. I ordered the cordon bleu schnitzel which, to my delight, was a thin and crispy-coated schnitzel stuffed with gooey Swiss cheese and thinly slice ham. It was decadent, unhealthy, and totally wonderful. The prices were amazingly reasonable and I would go back ALL the time if I lived in Germany.

Yelp
Service miserable. We were a group of 8 people. They ignored us when we wanted to order, we had to wait for 15 minutes until we got the bill. At the end, they told us a swear word before we went outside l. Food was ok actually. But we won't come back.

Yelp
This place isn't officially all-you-can-eat, however, the portions are SO MASSIVE here, it effectively is. Mountains of fried potatoes, with a pork schnitzel covering the whole plate so you can't even tell that they're there, is the order of the day. I'd recommend drenching it all in lemon sauce and then going on a pub crawl, since you won't feel a thing with that inside you. My new local too!

Yelp
For around only 10 Euro, you can get massive portions of schnitzel. I went with the Jägerschnitzel, and was impressed with how rich and delicious the mushroom sauce was. Schnitzel varieties can get a bit exotic as well, as one person in my group ordered a schnitzel that came with pineapple. Service was solid, once we were able to negotiate past the fact that a half empty restaurant was "reserved". Rattshern Brewery beer choices were also noteworthy. Avoid the pommes frites, as they are on the extra crispy/nearly hard side, and opt for the fried potatoes instead.

Yelp
The good reviews prompted my visit. They were good to accommodate a table for 1 with no reservation. I was seated, handed a menu, and then proceeded to wait for the next 20 mins. Nobody asked if I wanted to order a drink or food, and they weren't super busy. I eventually just got up and left...poor service

Yelp
This place is known by most locals, taxi drivers, and college students, because it is nearly open 24hrs that is convenient to anyone's schedules and allows the hungry late night drinking crowd to eat cheaply, with a variety of meals, and with healthy sized proportions. Everyone seems to come here for the Schnitzel because they huge and come with a heaping pile of french fries with nice gravy sauces. They have sandwiches and even breakfast and mainly offer beer and wine. The menu is primarily German influenced so expect meats, fish and potatoes to be a main attraction. There is pasta as well, but nothing special. The reason I added them to the HELP! listing is because the service here is not only minimal, but at times entirely rude and unfriendly. If you are eating late into the night, expect a random visit from drunken crazy people that wander in from off the street, however after enough inappropriate outbursts, normally the restaurant ushers them out, and with extreme public disturbances, the police is notified to assist. Pros: German food, Schnitzel options with fried potatoes, open really late, cheap price for the portion you get Cons: No frills, unfriendly staff, eating whist in the midst of a smokey filled room, and occasionally unpleasant visitors that ruin what could have been a peaceful meal. Try this place for good measure and a local experience, but not for too much else. If you can tolerate bad service and enjoy a hearty plate of meat and potatoes that costs under 10euros then drop in for a bite! Help Tip: Try to be a bit friendlier to the restaurant patrons, even if they are tourist or students who speak poorly German, I mean, a little smile could go a long way :)

Yelp
The schnitzels are so good. A regular schnitzel Weiner art they serve is larger than your face, and also comes with a side of potatoes and vegetables for around €10. Would recommend the fried potatoes over the pomme frites. They are good with little pork bits in them and are full of flavor. I went with the cordon bleu schnitzel, because where else can you get a schnitzel that is also stuffed with ham and cheese? We left fully satisfied, would definitely come back again.

Yelp
My local and a real favourite. I was eating in here the other night and my fellow diner summed it up perfectly: the most German restaurant in Hamburg. They serve good down to earth German food i.e. schnitzels, an inordinate number of hours of the day - very very close to 24 hrs. They also have good beer like Duckstein. The crowd is varied but united by one thing - a love for schnitzels and beer at any time of day. I have been here in the early hours to get a take away, I've heard stories of local cocktail bar mixologists rolling in at 10am after a big night, and the local sausage factory workers coming in in their overalls. Erickas quite simply has it all. The full German experience. I even ducked in here the other night after running away from a riot - how much more German can you get? Very highly recommended. If you come to Hamburg, a must-see.

Yelp
An out of the way spot behind the St Pauli football stadium is a must eat destination. The best schnitzel I've had in my life. The roasted potatoes and salad was wunderbar!

A favourite pace in Hamburg for sure. Giant portions, big beers, sehr Deutsch.

Yelp
As much a part of Hamburg as The Reeps this place has to be visited at a weekend at night to be fully appreciated - if you can get a table. great schnitzel, steaks and bratkartoffeln with a different deal every day.

Yelp
Definitely my favourite German restaurant in Hamburg, if you fancy a Schnitzel go there and try to eat it all, I know at least a couple of people that didn't make it. If you've never been there I recommend you to go on Thursday cause Schnitzel is cheaper - even if slightly smaller than usual (200gr VS 250gr). Add that it is open really late and probably you'll understand why I think this place is great ;)

Yelp
If you are traveling, don't eat here. It is hard to rate a place that won't serve you because they are "fully reserved" when they are only at 20% capacity. I suppose that my backpack and non-native German speaking skills was enough for the host to not even respond to my question. I would understand if I want dressed properly and the place was a real dining establishment; however, seeing that it is a dive bar for locals - it is more likely they didn't want us in there. As I am staying in this city for a year, I may come back to the restaurant to see if the staff is still as rude and dismissive. The food may be 4.5 stars but I won't patron a place that is 0 stars in hospitality.

Yelp
Erikas Eck is a legend. The opening hours give you some idea: from 5 pm to 2 pm. I have never been here except in the early morning (round 3-5 am), sobering up with 90 cents bread rolls with salmon. You can also get the largest breakfast portions in the world, schnitzel at three in the morning is no problem, and it's still cheap, and the staff is super friendly and attentive. Even during the week people pop in here at the most impossible times to have good food and enjoy the charming old-fashioned atmosphere (the walls are covered in boxing memorabilia from the 80s and 90s). Located in the Schanze, it's definitely off-Reeperbahn, which is good (fewer tourists). Erikas Eck is a Hamburg legend you just have to love!

Yelp
This place is kinda odd. I managed to find myself in here at around 2am with a bunch of folks I didn't know, who had all ordered open-face sandwiches which looked like they were prepared 15 hours prior. It looks like a nice little place, but I was so tired and weirded out that the dude and I left after 15 minutes. I'll come back here again on an evening and order an actual meal, and then I'll see if I will be bumping my rating up or not.

Yelp
This is a great example of the good old Hamburg. Simple but yummy food, Open from nearly around the clock, in the heart of Hamburg.

Yelp
Came to Germany for the trip of a lifetime. Looking for schnitzel...found an amazing place. This place is a little hole underground, a little walk on some shady parts of the city. But the place is a beautiful little pub style restaurant. Best food so far in Germany.

Kooky M.

Yelp
Dependable place open late 7 days with portions that are huge and schnitzels that are nice, also the price is reasonable. The schnitzels taste fantastic, with a definite home-cooked old-school German pub kind of a feel. As a negative the sauces are way too salty, when you can taste the salt you know you're getting too much. I have been another time late in the morning and the brötchen are also fantastic, for example the mettbrötchen are delicious. The ambience is nice as well, old-school traditional German pub feel, cosy. This place would be 5 stars if it wasn't for the bad service. We came several times and had different staff serve us, and each time they really made us feel like we were weren't that welcome. They never came and asked if we wished for another drink, and we would have to try and wave to them and pull them away from stacking glasses and things like that. They weren't rude, but they made you feel like you were disturbing them by asking them for another drink, or even the bill. Surely the owner of this pub wouldn't want their guests to be treated in such a fashion. Several times was on a Sunday night around 9pm when the place had hardly any people in it. The problem is the food could be great, but with such miserable service I just will not go and spend my money there unless nothing else is open. Nor will I bring any of my friends there, nor will I recommend the place to other people. To the owner: you should send some undercover reviewers in there to give you feedback about how bad some of your staff are, and then based on that, fire them and hire new people. The place is not a Kult-Pub with such bad service.

Paulo M.

Yelp
Good place, tipical german food, huge portions, great schnitzel and beer! Book in advance as the place was full when i came. Only downside was the rude waitress (a blonde woman) which invited us to leave because there were no tables available. There was a friendly waiter that then conviced us to stay...

Qype User (nosymb…)

Yelp
Incredibly German, incredibly huge portions and a pretty decent price to boot. The service was excellent, and although the place was packed, we managed to "join" a table, order and reiceve our food in very good time. The food was great.
