Nicely fried cauliflower bites, tasty but could be better if flavoured slightly. Spring rolls were good, chips were unfortunately too crispy and fried - maybe the end of the batch? They weren't fluffy at all, which is a shame as previous batches we've got have been nicer.

The worst Fish n Chips I have ever had in NZ. $30 later, soggy uncooked chips, $3.50 "bluff" oysters that tasted awful, and we're about the quarter of the size of a true bluff oyster. Avoid this place, take a 5min drive to Albert Town F&C shop. Far superior. Since I cannot reply to the message below, I have this to say; I know how bluff oysters are cooked and also the size, given I lived in Bluff for 4 years and ate them regularly. Thanks for the oyster lesson anyway! To those travelling to Wanaka, I cannot emphasis further to not go to this place. I have posted a photo below of Fish'nChips from a true shop in Lincoln, ChCh. $16 later, half the price of the rubbish I received from Erik's. If in Wanaka, go to Albert Town fish and chips. 10min drive, and worth every minute of it! What a scam!!!

Just average. Liked the idea of cauliflower bites (not seen this before!) but felt that they and my chips were over cooked. Staff were friendly.

This is not first time to have Erick’s fish and chips which would be the most famous fish and chips around this area. I had a Hoki and chips this time but unfortunately the batter was very floury and taste less and the fish was like frozen fish. The chips was alright. This is second time for me of disappointed their fish and chips. But nice and friendly staffs.

Fish is cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside and tender succulent fish on the inside. The deep fried kiwi is a must try if you're visiting, tastes much like an apple pie with a slightly sour twist!

Pretty good fish and chips. We had a book.me deal and were a bit anxious about the quality. But it did not disappoint us. Friendly service and good vibe too.

We had a big expectation about this place, as everyone told us we have to tried it. And it was pretty good, with homemade chips and sauces.

$10.50 for this fish? Really Erik? batter was rubbery, so disappointed. Thought I was going to get some lovely fresh fish (decent size) crispy batter and fresh chips.

Yelp
As its name implies, Erik's Fish and Chips specializes in the classic dish, but offers dairy-free and gluten-free options for those with dietary restrictions and food allergies. With locations in Wanaka and Queenstown, Erik's is a cheap, quick option before heading out on your next adventure. We opted for the family meal ($25NZD), which netted us 2 pieces of hoki, 6 fish bites, 2 scoops of chips, and a choice of a large drink, which can be replaced with extra fish, chips, or a hot dog. It was way too much food for two people, but we scarfed it down anyway. Of the included items, I enjoyed the fish bites best, as the batter to fish ratio was more balanced. (Who can resist the crispy fried bits?). Having had my fair share of fish and chips in New Zealand, I'd rank Erik's in the middle of the pack. The batter is light but can get overly soft from all the oil. The menu features several other goodies if you're not in the mood for fish, but offerings are generally on the quick and casual side. While there are a few tables in front of the food truck, I'd recommend taking your food to one of the picnic tables in front of Lake Wanaka, especially if it's a warm summer day.

Yelp
Ok we were pleased to find fish and chips anyway we could and Eriks just looked the part. Great shark and taty but the so-called Bluff oysters were diabolical and of they had ever been near Bluff then I may well be a monkeys uncle. However the fish and chips were great - of course not my memory of lots of smaller pieces of fish (shark in the day I'm sure) but instead a stonking great fullet well cooked and battered. I watched with amazement as my dining partner peeled all the batter off and ate the fish. Why would you??! Worth a try.

Yelp
Heard that this was a super popular restaurant in Queenstown so I was pleasantly surprised when we were walking around and stumbled upon it in Wanaka. It was busy but I am assuming a lot less busy than the one in Queenstown. - The batter on the fish and chips was insane! So good. My wife and I split the $10 Meal deal which included Hoki, Small Chips, & Tomato Sauce. We added on Tartare sauce for $1 extra, got some calamri for $8, and also got one deep fried Kiwifruit. This was the perfect amount of food. It took a while for them to make the food but we didn't mind waiting since it was a nice day outside. The deep fried kiwifruit reminded us of an apple pie but 10x better. Would love to try the Queenstown one next time!

Yelp
We had to keep our takeout dinner night tradition going while on holiday so we went with Erik's considering the only other option would've cost 3x the amount. We were pleasantly surprised - good fish (batter was a bit disappointing BUT it's totally gluten free). The home made dogs were really tasty and actually tasted like a decent sausage and the chips were all eaten by our holiday clan. Very friendly staff and I liked their food truck set up which is becoming more and more common in Little Wanaka. We ordered the $28 family deal (2 fish, fish bites chips and drinks) and added a few hot dogs which came to about $40 and fed 4 adults and 6 kids and which we enjoyed at the lake on a balmy summers evening. Worth it if you want an easy no hassle dinner with your family.

Yelp
A solid, (relatively) fast, and (relatively) cheap food stand that's good for a quick meal or a stopover (but if you're passing through Wanaka, don't just stopover). Like any reputable fish 'n chips joint, the swimmers are dipped in batter then deep fried to come out crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. Plenty of napkins, vinegar, and tomato sauce on the table next to the stand. Located at the upper end of the street that runs along the hill, and fairly popular from the looks of it.
