Our stay at Eriro was exceptional and restorative in the truest sense.
From the moment we arrived, the most striking thing was how quickly we were able to decompress. The team handles every detail with quiet confidence and intention, allowing you to fully settle into the experience without friction or noise. Nothing feels rushed or performative—just deeply considered hospitality.
The sense of home is woven beautifully into the design and daily rhythm of the place. The interiors are warm and grounded, heavy on local wool and wood, and immediately inviting. The cozy socks guests change into on arrival are a small but perfect touch—and you’ll find yourself wearing them almost constantly.
There’s always a fire softly smoldering, the pace of the day is intentionally unhurried, and the freedom to wander upstairs to do pottery, woodworking, or painting adds to the feeling that you’re living there, not just staying there.
The gastronomy program, guided by Chef Alex, is truly special. Everything served comes from within roughly 100km, and the approach goes far beyond the typical “farm-to-table” positioning. The preservation, pantry, and fermentation work is extensive and thoughtfully executed, with ingredients reused creatively and respectfully. As a former chef, I know how time-consuming and difficult this is to do well—and here, it is done at an exceptionally high level.
The wine and spirits program, led by Martin, is a perfect counterpart. His enthusiasm for Austrian wines and regional spirits is infectious, and his knowledge runs deep. Pairings feel personal and intentional, grounded in a genuine love for the craft rather than showmanship.
And then there is the setting itself. Eriro sits in a truly magical place in the mountains of Ehrwald—visible from nearly every window. The landscape is ever-present and grounding, constantly reminding you where you are and why this place feels so special.
All of this is quietly orchestrated by Henning, who truly lives and breathes hospitality. He is the steady, thoughtful conductor behind the scenes, ensuring that each of these elements works in harmony without ever drawing attention to itself.
Eriro delivers something rare: a place where sustainability, gastronomy, design, and hospitality feel fully integrated rather than curated for effect. We left restored, deeply comfortable, and already thinking about a return.
