7 great ways to experience the Australian coast from Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula - SilverKris

"A dramatic waterfall set within dense coastal bushland near Lorne, one of several nearby cascades (about ten within a 10 km radius), offering a scenic nature stop for visitors exploring the Great Ocean Road region." - Margaret Ambrose

It was a beautiful area. The path was well maintained. There is an upper lookout for the waterfall and then you can walk down to the base of the waterfall. I think I will go again when there has been rain the day before to see a more spectacular water flow.

A Beautiful Walk with a Moment of True Human Connection Erskine Falls is every bit as stunning as the photos- a powerful cascade plunging into a lush, green gorge. The lookout point is easily accessible, and the steep walk down to the base (and the climb back up!) is absolutely worth it for the immersive experience and that incredible spray on your face. It’s a must-see in the Otways. Our visit became memorable for a reason beyond the scenery. On our way back up, we found a woman, an adult hiker who was carrying some extra weight, lying pale and exhausted on a bench, clearly overwhelmed. We paused to check on her, offered a sweet snack for a quick energy boost, and gently suggested she raise her legs above her heart level to help with circulation. She was grateful, followed the advice, and within a few minutes, her color returned and she felt well enough to safely continue her climb. It was a small moment of kindness, but it highlighted the unexpected sense of community you can find even on a busy trail. The falls are magnificent, but being reminded to look out for one another made the trip truly special. A beautiful place, with a beautiful spirit.

Stunning waterfall. There are two lookouts and can go to see the waterfall. If you want to get to the bottom of the waterfall, you need to go downstairs (approx. 250 m). It's really worth it. The parking is small so it may happen you need to wait a little bit for a parking place.

Erskine Falls inland from Lorne is a GEM :) Yes, well recommended. It is a about 12 km out of town, follow the signs. The road is through beautiful forest. There is parking at the start of the walk. The walk is down many stairs. The stairs to the first lookout is not too bad (80m). Allow 5 minutes down. The second lookout is down about 200 more steep stairs (200m). Allow another 15 minutes down. Then allow 30 minutes back up. Need about an hour all up. Need rest on the way down, and take your time coming back up. The walk was quite busy with people, considering the remoteness and fitness level required. No tour busses, mostly "locals". The view of the Erskine Falls is well worth the effort. Yes, well recommended.

Whether you're staying in Lorne or just passing through on the the great ocean road the Erskine falls is a must. There are two views of the fall, and upper and lower. The upper is a fairly easy walk and it's all concrete stairs. The lower falls again is an all concrete step path but it's a good climb down and up. There are 2 benches along away if you need to stop. The lower falls viewing area is well worth it. The day we walked it it had rain and was drizzling but didn't make it bad walking. Overall this is a great shirt hike with beautiful views. Highly recommended

A short drive out of Lorne is Erskine Falls (10km). The road may appear suitable for caravans; however parking may be an issue when you get there. A viewing platform at the top, which is accessible for wheelchair and pushchair visitors, followed by 300 steps down and up to visit the base of the 30m waterfall. It can get busy, and our visit was spoilt by a couple who had climbed over the lookout fencing to take selfies at the base of the falls. To the right of the falls is a good picnic spot next to the river on the rocks.

Very good place there are two way one is less hectic whereas other one which lead towards the base is good appx 500 steps, no proper way to go onsite waterfall, you have to cross the safety railing then approach, overall it's very good specially in little heat weather

Yelp
My colleagues and I were on our way to Lorne when we accidentally set the GPS to avoid highways. It was a bit of a journey, but we were so glad we made this mistake. We stumbled across signs for this beautiful waterfall and decided to stop by. The parking lot was a decent size and we were able to easily and quickly get a spot. The walkway has a view point right at the top and the walk down in 5 minutes or so of stairs. The view is gorgeous!! Walking back up was a bit of a challenge for someone out of shape like me, but there were areas to rest. It wasn't far at all, I'm just not good with stairs. Definitely worth a stop by!
