"This intimate, bistro-like 16-seat restaurant in the heart of Pest’s trendy Jewish quarter brings a dash of Scandinavian cuisine (and Scandi decor) to the Hungarian capital. Chef Gábor Fehér spent time in Copenhagen mastering Nordic cuisine, which here comes as mini-courses (they're flavorful but small, so the kitchen recommends ordering at least four for a meal). Hungarian and even French culinary influences aren’t ignored, either— Fehér studied at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. There's a huge variety of Hungarian wines on offer, and the regular crowd is artsy and cool. By the way, “Esca” means “food” in Latin, and it’s easy to see what’s most important here."
Honestly one of the best dining experience I've had. The food was incredible, service was excellent and the atmosphere was intimate. Every dish was fantastic. I would highly recommend this place, make sure to book.

We tried almost all reputable restaurants we could try during our 6 day trip: like Stand 25, Salt, Hoppa, others, but Esca stood out for it's best value for money restaurant in Budapest! Must visit! Book well in advance!

Sorry the the single photo, but I enjoyed everything so much that I ate it before thinking of photos. If you visit Budapest, put this restaurant on your list. 6 tables. Great food. Great service. Very nice ambience.

Absolutely stunning food creations, all the way from the amuse-bouche to the desserts, including drinks too. The chef's taking you to a journey that is off the beaten track, a real fine-dining experience!

Unfortunately I did not snap any pictures during this fantastic meal. We went for the full tasting menu plus wine tasting. All the dishes were excellent and complex. Serving the ice cream on a frozen piece of rock was quite fun. Service was lovely, they were as fast or as slow as you wanted. By far the best meal we had in Budapest. I deducted one star because perhaps we misunderstood the waiter, but we thought the sparkling wine to start the meal was part of the wine tasting and it was only when we paid where we saw how much it was and that it wasn't included.
