Escalante's Fine Tex-Mex & Tequila

Alright Houston hunnies!! Tis the season to treat yourself to a wonderful restaurant! And Escalante's is THAT restaurant to head over to! My job went for our Christmas party 🥳 and Escalante's food, atmosphere and service all deserve 5 🌟! Our server Eduardo was attentive but also let us enjoy our party. He was funny and enjoyable and him and the staff kept our cups filled and bellies full. The fajita steak family style dinner was AMAZING 👏🏾 the margaritas were balanced to perfection! I want to take my family back next week and end 2025 with them!

The inside style is on the upscale side and has a nice outdoor dining area. Drinks were decent. The Appetizer Sampler was good! Chips and salsa were also good.

Great Tex Mex. The seafood is fresh and well plated. The ceviche was delicious and not overly citrusy. Tostadas had a nice crunch and we’re falling apart. Service is always awesome and everything comes out quick.

Had the most splendid lunch stop here. Service was amazing from the moment I walked through the door and was greeted by a friendly host to the moment I left and said goodbye to Sal, who was my server. He was FANTASTIC! I just wanted to slow down and enjoy a lunch for a busy working mom and Sal read the room and did just that. Bringing my food at the perfect timing and checking in accordingly. AMAZING SERVICE! 6 stars!

My brother, Thom, passed away unexpectedly last year, so this Christmas was going to be extremely hard. My family always celebrated Christmas Eve with Mexican food made by our Mom. We continued that tradition after our parents passed away. Yesterday I was looking for a Mexican food restaurant that myself, my partner and a family friend could enjoy and share memories. I called and the restaurant was booked until 8PM. Eden was so nice and took care of reserving a table for us. We arrived earlier than we thought and planned to sit at the bar until our table was ready. However, the hostesses were so sweet and sat us right away. Luis was our server and he was excellent! Food and drinks were awesome and we had a nice time. We never felt rushed. This was such a refreshing change, particularly in this area, as many times we encounter unwelcoming hostesses, mediocre food and poor service. All of the employees were upbeat and interacting with all of the customers. I did not see a frown in the place. With the cost of eating out skyrocketing, it would be good if other restaurant owners came to watch how these folks work. So professional. Came after the main lunch rush. There were not many people in the restaurant. I ordered a small queso and the lunch chicken fajitas for one. The queso is good but nothing to write home about. You have the options to add beef or pico. I would recommend either to help spice it up. The fajitas come with three tortillas, rice, beans, shredded cheese and pico. I added sour cream. The rice was undercooked and crunchy. I think it may have sat out for a bit. The tortillas are thick and soft but hardened very quickly after I pulled the first one. The chicken was moist and well flavored as well as the onions and bell peppers. Overall it was a good meal but could have been better. The staff is very nice though. And location is good for a shopping day.

Escalantes was recommended to us by some friends! So glad we took their advice and had lunch there during our recent to Houston. The food was AMAZING! Sal was our server he was phenomenal. Great customer service and attention to detail. Extremely friendly and kind! Great recommendation on what to try. The queso was outstanding! My redfish dish and husband’s carne asdada was INCREDIBLE! We are so glad we tried Escalantes. We definitely Hope to visit again.

Food really has dropped in quality. The question dip was so bad that the three of us called it out. Thin and runny; hard to keep on a chip. Overly salted tortilla soup. The place was pretty empty for Friday dinner, so why cordon off half the parking lot for valet? Annoying to drive past to get parking. Service gets them 2 stars. The waitress was nice and attentive

Quality is terrible! Price is too high for product. Used to be a great restaurant but no longer. Cabo salad is small and not worth $25. Don't order! Enchiladas have small amounts of meat. Don't order.

Amazing experience! Upscale texmex restaurant that keeps the flavors of texmex cuisine with a great ambiance and superb cocktails! Service was great! (It was not too packed on a Sunday noon )

Definitely an easy to get in, good food restaurant. Our server was friendly and attentive and did a great job from start to finish. It's an easy place to pop in unannounced with its casual vibe. The food is not going to completely wow you but it's good. I had the roasted corn chowder with a mini taco salad served with fajita beef. I loved the stressing that came with it- bit of a jalapeño cilantro flavor.

Not really my type of restaurant, but I came here to meet a friend and try a restaurant I would never really go to, but I was surprised by how good the soup was particularly the corn bisque. The service was spot on and the patio was very nice with the weather getting colder. The fajita was just okay. This restaurant is am expensive for me for the quality of the food.

Came for a group dinner on a Wednesday evening. It was supposed to be 6 of us and they gave us a private room for like 20 lol. Unfortunately only 4 came. The manager, Eric, came to say high and gave us their signature queso on the house. I ordered a Paloma that was refreshing. I had the chicken enchiladas with verde sauce, grilled vegetables, and black beans. The verde sauce was delicious and livened up the otherwise bland black beans. The queso wasn't my favorite. It had an onion-y taste to me but the complimentary (always) salsa was good. The chips were a bit stale to me. Service was attentive and bathrooms were nice. Free parking in the front on the day we came.

I went for HH and they have a decent HH, but I was turned off from the poor service we initially received. The restaurant was empty, but we were not greeted/acknowledged by the hostess. She just there on the phone ignoring us. Then we finally asked if we could seat ourselves, but still had to find ourselves a server. It was crazy! I usually really like this location, but today was not a good day from them. The restaurant was pretty empty and didn't have their usual crowd. Ceviche tostada - would recommend. It's a lot of meat, but it didn't have a good fresh flavor to it. Street tacos - they had a good flavor Nachos - were surprisingly really good. If you don't like beans, better ask them to remove them.

My fiancé and I have been here quite a few times. It's close to home and we constantly crave tex mex. The food here is always very delicious. I have yet to try something I don't like. The service is great! You're always greeted and I've had a variety of waitresses and waiters. they're always fun! The music is never too loud, like you often find elsewhere. The outdoor seating area is really nice and has fans. My only issue is the price, I totally understand the cost of things has gone up. I just know I can get a comparable meal at a competitor for cheaper. I love the class that comes with this place, but it has a cost.

We had a perfectly good Tex-Mex lunch at Escalante's--fajitas, margaritas, chips, salsa--you know, the classics. The food was all good, just not as amazing as my two favorite Houston Tex-Mex restaurants (El Tiempo and Los Tios, of course!). Service was a little abrupt when we walked in, but otherwise service was fine. A good spot, just not my favorite.

To be honest I was quite disappointed with this place. I should give a credit to their Ceviche. That was the most delicious plate in our dinner. Frozen margaritas were good too. But my boyfriend ordered Tex Mex Dinner and he didn't like it at all. Ground beef was hard and stale. We told our waitress that we didn't like it but she didn't say anything but offered to take it away. So we ended up paying for it. That wouldn't be a problem if the service was welcoming and helpful to be honest. So don't order Tex mex dinner.

Food was excellent. Service was great! Enjoyed the beef empanadas, brochette shrimp and top shelf margaritas.

This is for the cheese enchilada score only. sauce is amazing and everything about these cheese enchiladas is what Tex Mex should be Enchilada score five out of five. definitely go for the cheese enchiladas Service great, they know us and treat us like famly Cheese Enchiladas... you will be back again

Solid spot for Tex Mex!! They're enchiladas are really good! Love their queso too which is very different from the other queso that I've had. It has onions in it which I believe kinda makes it slightly sweet! Good stuff! Also, their service is outstanding! Everyone is super attentive and friendly! They kept opening the door for us haha

Love coming to this Escalante's location. Consistent service, plenty of parking, great food and even a patio. This is my go to Tex Mex spot. Nice wine and drink selections. Love the table side guacamole. Great salsa. I go between the enchiladas but my current favorite is the shrimp tacos. Love the green sauce with the tacos. Veggie refried black beans are so good and even the grilled veggie side is yummy. Family friendly and date night friendly too.

Always great food and drinks at all the Escalante's I have visited. A today was a quick marg and sangria with nachos watching basketball! We sat at the bar and had wonderful service there. It was a quiet afternoon and all was perfect.

Graciela was amazing not only was she super attentive but incredibly friendly she made wonderful recommendations and made sure to wrap our leftovers safely and added some extra flour tortillas for our son the place is extremely clean the manager walks around and gre everyone and we had a lovely lunch date

Ordered via Uber Eats. Everything was delicious. I wish there was an option to select what kind of tortillas you want when ordering through an app. However, I called the restaurant and they were able to get me corn tortillas for my order. I am a vegetarian and am also gluten free. I love that there are so many options available here!

I hadn't been here in a very long time. The service was impeccable with Gerry being there. The food wasn't too bad. They have lunch specials until 4 which was nice considering we got off to a late start. My husband said the margaritas were good. They had a lady making fresh flour tortillas. The food itself was also fresh.

I could not believe my eyes when I got home from picking up my order at the Highland Village location! The grilled salmon was so small, I started laughing! To charge 23.00 for this should be against the law. The salmon filet was maybe one inch wide. I will never go back!!

We recently dined at Escalantes and I can't express enough how impressed I was with the exceptional service. We have specific dietary restrictions, including a need for a Jain diet that requires avoiding onions and garlic. The manager, Eden, and the chef went above and beyond to ensure that we had a fantastic meal, customizing traditional Mexican dishes to meet our needs. They prepared a fresh table-side guacamole and pico de gallo, both without onions, and served veggie quesadillas filled with corn, zucchini, squash, and cheese. The food was not only delicious but also made with such care that I felt truly valued as a customer. I'm especially grateful to Eden, who I believe has been managing this restaurant for quite some time. We make an annual trip to Escalantes during our Jain fasting week, and her dedication to accommodating our needs, even during a busy long weekend, has always been remarkable. Thank you to the entire team for going the extra mile. It's experiences like these that keep us coming back year after year.

Best fajitas. High quality. Solid Tex Mex. We have been searching for fresh and high quality fajitas for a while and they delivered. Ceviche solid. Homemade guacamole at the table. We'll be back.

The food, drinks, and service are always great at this location! One of the best jalapeño margs around Houston.

"Two for lunch please" and the hostess demanded personal information before seating us: What is your first & last name, etc...."I am not applying for a job, I just WANT A TABLE FOR LUNCH." I told her I am spammed all day with marketing calls and msg spams and I don't want any more from her restaurant . Then, at the end of the meal, the waiter stuck a little screen in our faces where he had already decided to tip himself, AND the amount: 22%!...and he hovered over us intimidatingly to see if we signed the tip he had given himself. We did not. We will not be back to this place that puts service to itself ahead of respect for the guest. Tips are a) voluntary and b) in the amount selected by the guest, NOT the server.

PATRICIA is a hospitable and experienced server that exceeded our expectations. We traveled from Galveston to Highland Village to eat here and are exceedingly glad we did. Please let Patricia know she is a delight and so professional. What an incredible evening we had.

I absolutely love Escalante's on Woodway! I work in the area and stopped in for lunch (great lunch menu btw). They have great margaritas (all you need is 1 ). Rodrigo (the bartender) is one of the best. His service is a 10 out of 10 every time! The covered patio was very shaded so I sat outside and loved listening to the Latin music they played.

Beautiful restaurant with great service. I ordered the skinny spinach enchiladas. They usually come woth a creamy saice but they accommodated me and added tomatillo sauce instead. Ypu get two flavorful enchiladas with veggie black beans and grilled veggies. I took a star off because I asked for baked chips and they never brought them. Furthermore, with tax, my two-enchilada plate with tax totalled $20 before tip. That's overpriced.

This was our second Escalante's visit, our previous visit was at Meyerland plaza... we had another 5-star visit at this location! We arrived around 5:30 on a Wednesday and was seated immediately. There were a good number of other occupied tables but it wasn't crowded by any means. Soon after, delicious hot chips and salsa were dropped at our table as we looked over the menu. The salsa had a nice kick to it. Our server was Jennifer and she was WONDERFUL. Very friendly, helpful with all our questions and just so lovely. My husband went with the dish I had at the Meyerland location, Alambres, which are basically shish kabobs. This entire came with choice of rice and beans. He had Mexican rice and black refried beans. They were DELICIOUS. Came out sizzling hot. I on the other hand, didn't want such a large meal. I had a cup of the Tortilla soup. It was actually the perfect amount for me! The soup was good: chicken, veggies, avocado and tortilla strips in a light broth. We love this place and can't wait to return!

Love this place! we've been going here for years and it never disappoints! The margaritas are the best in town. The food is always fresh and the servings are big - I always have leftovers to take home. I think this is the best Tex-Mex in town, next to Pappasitos. This is also one of our favorite patios in town. it's usually busy but never packed. Service is always great, too. Many of the waitstaff have been here for years and know us. All in all, a great choice!

This location is in highland village, in company with high end stores like pottery barn, restoration hardware, crate & barrel. It's the perfect spot to stop for a bite after some diligent shopping. Parking is very limited in the shopping strip directly adjacent. There is a parking garage across the street but it's quite difficult to cross due to continuous oncoming cars - you'd have to run across quickly or walk down a block and cross at the officially marked street crossing there. The restaurant itself is rather large on the inside. Once you walk in the hostess will be to your left and the bar will be to your right. Bathrooms are way in the back, and not very clean. It's also quite dim inside and most people choose to sit outdoors on the patio. The patio is covered by a black sheet which radiates heat very well so it sort of feels like a heater is going above you. This area is much lighter and airier in comparison to the indoor area, however. If you order a margarita, they bring it out in an individual shaker and mix it right in front of you which adds nicely to the ambiance. Fajitas - comparable pricing to ninfas and pappasito's. Comes with beans, rice, guac, pico, sour cream, cheese, and your choice of flour or corn tortillas. The tortillas and the rice are especially authentic. The fajitas are cooked well done but still rather soft. They're served with butter which is a nice touch. Service is rather slow and needs to be prompted several times in order to get a response.

The food, service, and atmosphere were all perfect. The cocktails were spot on, and the food was cooked wonderfully, and the service from Graciela was fantastic. Definitely coming back the next time we are in the Houston/Highland Village area!!!

EAT SOMEWHERE ELSE. I made the mistake of taking a legal client there for lunch. Instead of giving you a tab they stick a handheld in your face and the "gratuity" already calculated with the server standing there with arms crossed glaring at you, as if daring you to change or challenge it. As the customer I should be able to calculate the "tip" based on quality of service. I brought this up to my partners and we will NEVER go back. We have hundreds of better choices where they actually respect the customers.

Not the Mexican restaurant you expect. The food lacked flavor we took the food home to season it ourselves properly.

I went to Escalante's in highland village and tried their queso blanco and beef fajitas for the first time. It was OUTSTANDING! The whole experience was great and the manager Jacob was so hospitable and so kind. Great service here! I will definitely be coming back to this location.

1st time coming here and it did not disappoint the food was so good so Fresh !!!!!! Very clean but the number one reason I will keep coming back is for the service!!! Graciela our waitress was so sweet ! Always checking to see if we need anything recommended some great food !!! And made us feel like home ! My husband mentioned how we loved the tortillas and she got us a fresh hot pack to go!!! With our leftovers !!!! I recommend 20/20 but you you go make sure u ask for her she won't disappoint

Always a good place for Tex-mex, you really can't go wrong here but the ONLY reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because that is reserved for my all-time favorite place, Pappasitos... but if you are nearby, Escalante's is the runner up that I've had plenty of times and left satiated and happy as a clam!

Stopped by to have a quick drink while I wait on my groceries to be ready for pick up. Came straight to the bar and the two gentlemen at the bar great. There are 6-7 people sitting at the bar and they are able to assist us all in a very timely manner. I always knew it was possible! Nobody is having to ask for anything twice. Happy hour drink prices are good, they have a few bar bites on the HH menu as well but only for bar seating. I ordered the street tacos and they weren't the best but they were edible. I would come back just for the service and a quick HH drink.

Escalantes is my favorite restaurant in Houston. The food is always delicious and service is great! We love the queso, guacamole, margaritas and entrees. Leylis is amazing! She is efficient, conscientious, friendly, hard working, and always hospitable. She always has a welcoming smile on her face, and always checks on us to make sure everything is satisfactory and to our liking. We highly recommend Escalantes to everyone!

Upscale Tex Mex spot near the Galleria. So I'm not sure if it's a chain or not. However, the chips and salsa are tasty and no spicy at all. I ordered flautas and they seemed to make them with flour tortillas and not the traditional corn. You can see on the pic how thick the breading is. The meat was okay. The rice and beans, they were decent. The guacamole was okay, not the best. Had to doctor it up a little bit. Other than that service was great. The food just wasn't anything to write home about. I'd definitely recommend going to a hole in the wall for more authentic meal and you'll probably get it cheaper. You're definitely paying for the ambiance. Manager never came around. Overall just 3 stars.

My family and I have been coming to Escalante's for years! You can never go wrong with their incredible cheese enchiladas a margaritas!! We love coming here for the family environment, amazing food, and the fabulous manager Jacob! He always makes sure we are fully satisfied and that our food is exactly how we like it. Looking forward to my next enchilada craving to hit so I can come back!

Looking for a place to eat from out of town with 2 picky toddlers can be difficult. Betty our server was simply AMAZING! The food and the drinks were delicious, probably some of the best mexican food I've had. Please try this place if you haven't yet, you will not be disappointed.

Odalys, Laura, and Eden are simply THE BEST!! Love this place - food, skinny margs, happy hour, and the people who work here create an environment that brings us back!!

Terrific experience at Escalante's the other day. Terrific food and terrific service. Bartenders named ODallas & Laura along with a manager named Eden were off the charts. Had been to the location on Voss previously and this spot was far more enjoyable. Can't wait to go back!

It was good enough for what it is. Bland salsa is served complimentary with a large basket of thin tortilla chips. The service was prompt. We both ordered off the healthy eats section of the menu. The fish was tender and delicious. The steak was small and I had to cut it myself. They were both served with an absurd amount of spinach. I probably would try it again.
