Escape Games at The River

We did the Secret of Dragon's Spire with our two teenagers and everyone had a good time. The puzzles were fun but not overly challenging (maybe we are getting the hang of it?) and we escaped in ~40 minutes. If you have an hour to spare I would highly recommend giving them a try.

The 80s game was so fun! Included some vintage video games and music and had some fun twists! I did it with my sister and my two kids, 10 and 12 and they were able to help with a lot of the clues!

What a phenomenal experience! We did the Last Vampire room with a 13 year old and an 11 year old. They chose it!!! It was the perfect “teamwork” experience and the 11-year old only screamed once! lol. This place was very friendly and helpful and we will be back. Thank you for such a fun experience.

We had a great time playing the Endangered room! I was surprised at how fun it was, we have always wanted to try it but never got around to it. My brother suggested going and we went along, now we can't wait to be back. The guide did a great job and explaining everything. The room was clean and well kept. We made our reservation at the end of August and the room was fresh and airy. We were afraid we were going to feel stuffy/claustrophobic since it was so hot outside, thankfully that did not happen. Staff does an amazing job at keeping the waiting room clean and stocked with water. We all really enjoyed it and cant wait to be back to try another room. Thank you again!

Having no first hand experience with escape rooms, I was informed by Chatgpt that this may be a good experience to kick off a 16y birthday celebration. The staff was professional and easy to work with. All members of our party of eight had a very enjoyable and memorable time.

Our group of 10 had a great time for our company retreat. Themes were exciting and challenging and we all work together to finish with 5 minutes left! It was very fun and we will be signing up again soon.

I’ve done a lot of escape rooms in different cities across Canada and US. We did the candy room which was lots of fun with a very clever story line (and some actual hard candies you can eat while playing). Went with three people who had never been to an escape room and got out at 57 min and everyone really enjoyed!

Our family has done over 60 escape rooms around the world, and we were impressed with the dragon spire room at escape games at the river. The sets were sophisticated and engaging with lots of creative things to look at and explore in order to solve the puzzles. This particular room wasn't among the most challenging we've ever done, but we appreciated that there were creative puzzles to solve. That didn't always involve padlocks or keys. There were some very engaging mechanisms that revealed additional opportunities to solve puzzles and work together as a team. He also appreciated that this room was not entirely linear, so all of us could be busy solving puzzles and looking for clues instead of having to wait around, would be a great room for a larger group. There was plenty of nearby parking, this business is on the second floor and isn't completely obvious when you're pulling up how to get in, but you can quickly find an elevator or stairs to get to the second floor and once there, the space is comfortable and the staff were warm and welcoming. Next time we're in Palm springs will definitely choose to go back and try a few more of the rooms, there were very interesting variety of choices for rooms and a range of difficulties, so there's something for everyone, including people who are just starting out with their first puzzle room.

We were in the area for a few days of vacation and thought it would be fun to try one of the escape rooms in the area. There are a few and we ultimately decided to come here and try Mutiny: Skull Island. They are located on the second floor of The River, which is an outdoor shopping center in Rancho Mirage. The majority of the parking lot on their side of the center is mostly covered and keeps your car out of the hot sun. There is a very interesting elevator you take up to the second floor. Their lobby is spacious and it is nice and cool inside. There are several comfy seats and a couch as well a cold water machine while you wait. I would say this room is mostly non-linear, but with a few linear elements as well. A group could definitely split up to work on different parts of the room. It is very immersive, and the décor is excellent and perfectly fits the theme. There are quite a few locks and the method by which clues are given is great. The production quality of the last part of this room is amazing and close to something you might find at a theme park. If you happen to escape, the ending is great and dramatic as well. It was only the two of us, and we escaped with only a minute or two to spare. Our game master was very helpful and friendly. When you exit the room, you will go out of a different door than the entrance, but it is just right across from the entrance door. For only two people doing a room, they are very reasonably priced at only $42 per person. This was a very fun room and we will definitely try some of their other rooms when in the area again.

We had a wonderful time here and did 2 escape rooms! Which was Mutiny: Skull Island and Tomb Raiders: Scepter of Egypt. Out of the two Mutiny: Skull Island was our favorite and was THE HARDEST for us to solve. But the room is super cool and very interactive. As for the Tomb Raiders: Scepter of Egypt it was a little bit linear to solve which made it okay. Overall, Really fun experience and game masters are super chill! I highly recommend coming here if you are looking for a fun family activity/experience!

Came here last minute with my partner and absolutely LOVED it!! Friendly staff, adorable decorations in the candy escape room, and so so much fun! Definitely challenging and you end up feeling completely submerged in the game. Will definitely be coming back to try out the other ones. I

We love escape rooms and, even on vacation, look for opportunities to try out new rooms. Four of us took on Mutiny on Skull Island. I don't want to give any spoilers away so I'll just say our experience was excellent. We were greeted upon arrival, filled out the form, and walked across the way to start our adventure. With multiple rooms, moving parts, lots of locks and interesting puzzles, we were challenged and had a great time. We successfully completed the challenge. We are likely to come back here again before we head home. Great experience!

Wow, the 80's theme was impressive. Went in a date with my Fiancée and we had an amazing time! This was our first experience at any escape room and we are still talking about it hours later. The young lady who was our game master was fantastic. Glad to say our game was private and the 2 of us. We got the tickets to the show!!!! You can do it too! Definitely a 10/10 would recommend.

New La Quinta location is open! Game are so immersive it's easy to forget that you're not really in that world. They're very well thought out, perfect amount of challenge without feeling confusing. I've been to many different escape rooms and these ones consistently are the best designed and decorated. I've never had poor customer service at either location, the owner is awesome and prioritizes his customers experiences. I highly recommend the vampire game it was amazing, there was a surplus of fun to be had and puzzles to solve. We escaped with three but it would be perfect for bigger groups too

Decided to challenge myself doing a room solo. Called and the owner was very helpful, and let me know mutiny was one of the games that didn't need two people physically. Also this place has the nicest bathroom for an escape business I've ever seen. Room itself was a mix of locks and high tech puzzles. What sets it apart is the fantastic production quality. Don't know how old it is but everything is in good shape, and the theming and effects are off the charts. Gameplay itself was fairly standard, but everything made sense logically and flowed decently well. I managed to make it out solo in about 51 minutes. Highly recommend Mutiny and will have to plan a trip back to the area to try their other rooms in the future.

Located on the 2nd floor. They immediately tell you to sign their "no liability" form through a QR code they provide. Make sure you get that out of way as soon as possible. Then you're shown a quick video, not really telling you too much. LOL! I was so nervous doing this. Without going into too much detail, I truly had such a good time here. The Huz was the MVP of our group, if I may say, because he broke the first code and it made the whole thing more doable to me. We did ask for a few clues within the 60 minutes we had to "escape". I'm honestly not good at this stuff, but it's all about team work and it's not all on one person. But again, thankful for the Huz. LOL!! Because, I'm going to be completely honest here...it's kind of hard! But also, it may just be because I'm not good at solving puzzles or clues. Spoiler alert...and also, because I'm thrilled about it, we escaped as a group and this was fun! Definitely do it if you have a group that needs a fun activity to do. Oh, and the person helping us was friendly, so I would say the service was good. :-)

Great escape rooms with fun themes, great production, and friendly enthusiastic staff !

PERFECT!!! We have completed all of the rooms and twice for one of the rooms. The staff is fabulous, the rooms are challenging and they don't make you feel stupid when you are clueless while figuring out the actual clues!

Came here for a birthday party and I will most definitely be back! This is located at The River upstairs from DringK. I am unsure if they have actual steps but we rode the elevator up that looks like a centipede from the outside (if ykyk lol) Anywho the inside is inviting, customer service was pretty chill, and most of the walls in the hallways and bathroom are SOFT!? Like a different type of texture. I am guessing the padded walls are to keep the sound inside of the rooms or something of that nature. The room we tried was the great candy challenge and it was such a fun room, family friendly and even has candy available to snack on whilst figuring out the riddles. I encourage everyone to give this place a try if you like Escape Rooms in general. You can pay for a room online ($40 per person, children under 7 free) and even complete a waiver form! 10/10

We did the Candy Factory and had an excellent experience! I definitely would like to return and try more rooms. The staff were friendly and explained everything well. Definitely a challenge and would have loved to be in a set of 4 instead of 2. I would definitely recommend this escape room

Done lots of escape rooms in lots of cities, and this was one of our favorite places! Did the 80s themed room and came back to to the Candy one a couple of days later.

I've done tons of escape rooms (20+!) all over SoCal and beyond, but this place was definitely in the top 3! My friends and I were on vacation in Palm Springs and decided to book 2 escape rooms to do. A quick Yelp search showed us this place and we were very intrigued! We went inside, signed the usual waivers, and watched the introduction video to our first room: The Secret of the Dragon Spire. My friends and I were talking about how good we were and how well we work together, but we totally struggled on the first puzzle to our discontent HAHA. But, we picked up the pace and the room was great! Got it with 13 minutes to spare. The production quality was extremely impressive and it was a great room. We said our goodbyes and then came back the next day to do their most popular room: Mutiny. Now this room is one of the best rooms I've ever done. Don't want to spoil too much, but it is insane production quality and just SO impressive and fun! Nothing like I've done before, for sure! And we got out of this room as well (: Overall, a really awesome experience! We already want to go back and do their other rooms. Definitely check this place out if you love escape rooms (or want to start off your escape room journey with a bang!) P.S I agree with the other reviews, the bathroom is very cool!

Escape games at the River is such a cool spot. This was my first time doing an escape room and it left me wanting to do more! The staff is friendly and super helpful! They are also well organized and it shows and makes that of your experience a much better one! I recommend mutiny: skull island! Difficulty level 8/10. You'll have a lot of fun!

TERRIBLE!! I have had better experiences with this location but the Tomb Raider experience was terrible tonight! I didn't feel like the clues gave much guidance for the next step. We had to ask for more clues more then normal and it turns out at the end of the game the assistant apologized for some of the features as one wheel was already done correctly and didn't trigger the next step and a chip in one of the figures was out. Causing us to keep going back to puzzles that were already completed. But Serious $120??? and I left pretty pissed off after hearing that. I would ask the kids there to make sure that these things are accurately reset and working properly. Waste of money tonight!!!

I had done a few escape rooms, and I was so exited to bring my fiancé and Son to this escape room. They definitely did not disappoint. If you want an excellent family experience you must do the candy escape room. This was so much fun, with the multiple rooms, clues on the wall (wink), and keys to be found. The staff was extremely nice, and accommodating. Will definitely come back for the Christmas experience.

We had lots of fun coming here with my gfs. The room is well maintained and clean, everything there makes sense aka leads to solving the quest. We had a great time! Recommend!

Very nicely presented with great decoration and fun reveals. The staff are friendly and enthusiastic. This was a return trip and this time we did Secret of Dragon's Spire, which was a little on the short side (only two of us, succeeding with almost 24 minutes left). Still a good experience with a nice variety of puzzle types. Update: upgrading to five stars after returning to play both The Great Candy Challenge and Mutiny: Skull Island. The latter in particular was very impressive, requiring all the senses and almost every second for the two of us to escape. Very fun.

My friends and I came here during my bachelorette party and it was honestly the highlight of the trip. The room was so well thought out - both the clues and the decor were just fantastic!! And the staff was very nice! I would 100% recommend this place to anyone else.

We played "Mutiny: Skull Island" and it was a *ton* of fun. We did escape just in the nick of time, but not without some clues. I'm sorry to game master who probably had to listen to me grumble about a couple of the challenges we couldn't figure out. But beyond getting stuck and a bit frustrated, this was a really great room. This was one of the most well themed escaped rooms we've ever done (we've done a few, not a ton), with a lot of immersion. Without giving out any hints, I will say this pirate room had an EXTREMLY unique puzzle type that I've never heard of being done anywhere else - if it is, it's very rare.

We took our family to do the The Great Candy Challenge and we had a blast. It was very age-appropriate for kids in elementary and middle school. The kids loved figuring out the clues and it was well stocked with some of their favorite candy! The facilities were well maintained and the host was great. Although we were just vacationing in the area, we're planning on going again for a different game before we head home. Thumbs up!

My older kids and I visited yesterday and enjoyed ourselves so much! Booking online and signing the waiver was simple and straightforward. We've done rooms all over San Diego, CA, but decided to trek up here to try Mutiny: Skull Island with family that lives in Rancho Mirage. THE PRODUCTION VALUE IS UNREAL. We were excited to do a pirate themed room to begin with, but it legit felt like we were ON SET of a pirate movie, or in Disneyland. Music, animatronic parrot, and a lot of fun theatrics and surprises. We proudly escaped the room with 9 minutes to spare without any clues (at the time of this review, there's a 45% escape rate!). All the puzzles are well thought out and organized. We loved it so much, we're already planning more trips back from San Diego to try all the rooms. The staff was really upbeat and friendly before and after we finished the game, offering to take our photos and answer our questions. SO impressed!!

We have been in the desert since 2011, so we have run the gamut on places to celebrate birthdays for our children. Since both were born on different days in December, we always plan a dual party. The decision was to plan two separate rooms at the same time, on the same date. We wanted to express how important it was for us to arrange this in an organized fashion. Charlie (the owner) was very responsive and helpful in making sure the games would be properly slotted for the age groups involved. I must have gone back and forth with Charlie ten times, I have the email thread to PROVE it. Yeah, we can be a little overbearing, hoping to create the "closest to perfect situation". The rooms we selected were The Forgotten Pharaoh (10 year old), as well as The Secret of Dragon's Spire (12 year old). The next item on the checklist was what & where we would end up feeding all 15 participants. Initially, we were thinking getting them back to the house but the logistics would be challenging. Charlie suggested using his tables and chairs out on the deck, which overlooks The River. So our plan involved Costco pizza, sandwiches and Bundtini's from down the street. This past Saturday arrived and everything went as smooth as silk. Charlie had the tables set up with the necessary chairs, while even providing actual tablecloths. (How cool is that?) Getting there an hour early allowed us to get all of our ducks in a row. What a BREEZE!! ALL the kids that communicated an RSVP showed up, YAY, putting our kiddos in an AWESOME mood. The groups were whisked in, giving me time to gather the food FRESH while they were inside. Not long after I returned all 15 kids emerged boisterous and proud of themselves, as their puzzles were solved with time to spare. They had a FANTASTIC time and we had zero issues with the extra hour we allotted for a meal and dessert. We are so thankful that our kids and their invitees left satisfied. Charlie and his staff were very accommodating, this place really seems like a well-oiled machine. Some of the parents commented on their curiosity and whether we should come back to get involved. It sounds like a GREAT idea to me. Do not hesitate in giving this business a shot. You will not be disappointed.

The hype is real at Escape Games at The River! Played The Great Candy Challenge (room #188 that I've played) and Mutiny: Skull Island (#189). Production value is on point and every puzzle flowed and made sense! Shout out to Charlie the owner and Nolan our gamemaster! We felt well taken care of during our visit. Going to check out the rest of their rooms!

Not to brag but I'm 5 for 5 on escape room successful escapery. My friend had never done one & chose the Baker Street room. It was really similar to a room I experienced in Livermore but this one made more logical sense to me. No big guessing leaps were required and I thought it was a nice touch when they let us know when we had uncovered everything we needed to escape the room. No big bells or whistles, from what I understand this was their first room and it may not even be available much longer. I understand the need for a refresh and I have complete confidence they will replace it with a fantastic new experience. Had we had more time, I would have loved to return for one of their newer rooms. This was the most relaxed, friendly, and welcoming escape room I've ever been through. They didn't require a million waiver signatures and didn't make us put our lives into a locker before entering. I highly recommend this as an alternative to going to the movies, you get to work together as a team and solve puzzles. It's a great team, family, or friend building time. It's also an excellent escape from the desert heat.

Took my son and friends here for his 13th birthday, and we had a great times. We did the Mutiny Skull island room and it was a blast. The puzzles were challenging but not too hard and our in room game guide (won't ruin the surprise) was super cool. We managed to finish with about 12 minutes to spare, and everybody really enjoyed themselves. The staff was very friendly. We will definitely be back here to do another one. Good times!

We had the best time playing Mutiny Skull Island! Scenically the room was amazing and so well done and the puzzles were the perfect combination of challenging and intuitive. Overall great story and great puzzle flow; will definitely be back for more and would absolutely recommend. Shoutout to Trinity for being an awesome game master!

We're avid escape room hunters whenever we visit a different city. This time we decided to go to the escape games at the river mall. We chose the Mutiny game and it was 10/10! If you have to choose 1 game trust us and do this one! Definitely worth the time and money! Our game master was also very good in customer service and helped us just the right amount. A++++ experience!

My family had a great time! The price was fair, and the production value was really top notch! We felt challenged but it was definitely manageable. Alyssa and the rest of the staff was very kind and helpful! They managed us and a few other groups well, and gladly helped us with photos afterwards. One nice thing about this escape rooms (as opposed to some in Los Angeles or Ventura County) is that the facility is very clean and safe! Plenty to see and do afterwards in the area. Great family fun and adventure. Our escape room was perfect for grandchildren from 7-16, accompanied by their grandparents. All participated and had a terrific time. We actually finished successfully with 13 seconds to spare. Everyone had a great time. People working there were friendly and assisted us when needed, thanks, MS

Always a blast at the river escape games. This time my family and I chose the pharaoh room. It was a little disappointing to know that it was only two rooms but nonetheless our game master was pretty awesome and we were able to complete the game it was a bit confusing because the props were opening as they should've even though we had the right combinations, that was a little daunting, but in the end we crushed it and it was a hell of a lot of fun. We shall return that for our next game soon.

Played two rooms in the course of a day and they were very different both puzzle wise and thematically. We did the Mutiny:Skull Island and Treasure Hunters as a group of 3. The scenic design is very thoughtful and intricate. The atmosphere is immediately set by the way the rooms' designs trickle out into the lobby. That truly set the tone for the game and brought immersion to the forefront of the experience. Our game master Nolan brought a charismatic approach that made the post discussion fun and kept our energy high. Highly recommend the Mutiny room. It had really cool way of bringing the story into the game and making you feel like you were really on a sinking ship. The story sells it for me. Treasure Hunters is all about scoring the highest "points" in a puzzle-palooza where a larger team would have been more efficient. I'd say a team of 6 is ideal to be able to split up and tag team the variety of puzzles as some do require teamwork while many are individualistic. The story seemed a bit lacking here but the focus was on the puzzle design which was quite intricate in variety. I was slightly disappointed with one puzzle box that I didn't feel like it had a logical connection however I see how the designer intended for people to solve it so I'm not too bitter. A big plus was the very clean, fancy restroom :)

My husband and I played Secret of Dragon's Spire, and it was great! It was very well put together game, the clue system was fun, and the host Savvy was so welcoming and she made the experience that much better! Altogether a fantastic time, we can't wait to come back and try another game!

The staff here was so friendly! Nick was our head Game Master and he was so nice and helpful. We chose the most difficult room, The Baker Street Mystery, and it was a blast! We solved it with 10 minutes left to go. My husband and I loved that it was a thinking game and my 14 year old brother ended up cracking the biggest clue! Great room and experience for all ages. I definitely recommend and will be coming back!

Have done almost all of the escape rooms at the River and they are always so fun. I think the Medieval and Pirate ones have been my favorite

Hubby and I decided on a whim to try an escape room. Our first choice fell through, and we are so glad it did! We had such a blast! The room is super immersive, inventive and surprisingly high tech! It was our first time and we are HOOKED! We will be back to try other rooms! Go here!! They're the best!!

My hubby & I had a blast doing our first escape room recently. We did the Tomb Raiders game. It definitely challenged our brains but in a fun way! We felt really good when we'd figure out the clues. I was really impressed with the theming, the attention to details, & the challenge of the game! It was a fun time out & well worth the price of the game. We look forward to returning to solve future escape rooms here!

This was the perfect thing to do with my 3 pre-teens and husband. We all had so much fun and it was great family team building. Can't wait to go back!

I played my 250th escape room here at Escape Games by the river. I chose wisely, because this place is AMAZING! My only regret is I didn't schedule enough time to play ALL the games. I'll be back soon to finish the rest! We played their newest games (as of this date), Mutiny - Skull Island, which had such great immersion and set design, and Treasure Hunters - Station 13 which was an epic puzzle adventure perfect for large or small groups. We also played their Secret of Dragon's Spire, a fun beautiful and immersive game, and Christmas Chaos, their seasonal Christmas game. All solid game offerings that I'd highly recommend to anyone, new to escape rooms, or enthusiasts alike. I can't recommend this location enough, I'm glad I got to play my 250th escape room here and I'll be back again soon.

I'm a bit of an escape room enthusiast (I've done around 70 or so) and was very excited to visit Escape Games at The River for the first time this weekend. I have to say, they did not disappoint! My friend and I did Mutiny: Skull Island and had a blast. The puzzles, theme, and environment were all super fun, and our game master was fabulous. I definitely plan on checking out more of their rooms the next time I'm in the area!

The Escape Games at the River has been me and my family best experience at a Escape room. There were 2 adults and one kid and everyone was able to play a part of the game we choose "The Great Candy Challenge" which was so much fun and not just for the kid being able to eat some candy on our mission to Escape; it was very cool. The props and the layout of the rooms were very nice and not cheap looking or thrown together also the way the keys were distributed to get to the next clue was unique and exciting. We were in town visiting this area and I must say we would come back just to come try another Escape game here at the River.

We were in the 80s Radical Radio Rampage. The room was set up with enough clues that we could figure out and then a few where we had to ask for help. We were able to complete in 63 minutes, but it wasn't a slam dunk. All 6 of us had a great time. It was a well organized game and the game master was very helpful and professional. We will be back again.
