Visited with a group during our trip to Palm Springs. The views were definitely the highlight, stunning setting and a perfect backdrop for a relaxing evening. The food/service didn’t quite live up to the scenery. It wasn’t a bad experience by any means, just a very average one. The dishes were okay. Lovely place for a drink and a sunset.

Google
I am not sure if it was because this course was the one I was looking forward to the most, or we had just played Indian canyons (South) the day before and it exceeded expectations by a lot, or it was significantly more windy and the air quality was terrible (500+) the day we played here vs the other days…but I was a little let down. The course was still beautiful, it was in great shape, the views were fantastic, it was challenging, shop staff was excellent, pace was ok for a Saturday, and we had a great time. I do feel that we found better value for the money at other courses, but I have to say that they did have the most beautiful cart girl to ever walk the planet. Would play again

Google
Absolutely gorgeous course. Playing conditions were pretty good (not perfect). Had a couple coyotes appear but they were harmless. Beware so you’re not caught off guard. Fairways were generally wide, but varying green heights and water hazard placements gave us a fun challenge. Overall, it was nice we had to play it twice — went back same day for a replay and made it through the front 9 again. Staff were great as well. Would highly recommend.

Google
4.5? This place is 5.5 best course I have played in North America. First, the rate was affordable. Service from my uber to the clubhouse was 11/10. Every person I interacted with bag boy, starter, Marshall servers were the most professional I have ever seen by a long shot. I felt like royalty here. But it was affordable. Beers were 7 bucks. Patio was glorious.

Google
Amazing course even in the 105 degree weather! We had a blast. The staff is always so nice and make you feel like you’re at a 5 star resort. Love this place!

Google
Of the 8 different courses we've played during our stay in PS, Escena was in the best condition of them all. Downside, no range, only mats hitting into mats. Great patio for drinks/dining.

Farid Medleg

Google
Great quality grounds, on par with the best in Palm Springs, all at an affordable rate. Replay rate was less than half of my morning round. I would have liked if the beverage cart came around a bit more often (usually once per round) but that's small potatoes. My only true complaint is the lack of a driving range (you're hitting into a net). Otherwise, this is top notch and should be on your list. Also, the food is great.

I love this setting and location. The food is always excellent and the service excellent. We have taken family here when they visited at the holidays.

Yelp
We played a couple of rounds during our trip to Palm Springs and this was my favorite course I've played in a long time! For the first time ever, we were the first group out on the course at 6:30AM, and there was some pressure to keep the pace the groups behind us and we ended up finishing in under 4 hours. Not bad considering this was the first time playing the course. The course was in tremendous condition. It wasn't easy by any stretch, but it was challenging in all the best ways. Plenty of hazards make it a tough course, which makes being accurate even more important. The greens were in great condition and rolled true. The fairways and rough were manicured. Overall, to me it was worth every dime and would definitely want to play here every time I come back to Palm Springs.

Yelp
This golf course is a great layout. Over the last two years the conditions have been less than stellar. So much so that a group I play with vowed never to return. This was back in 2023/24. But I'm here to tell you, Rich (the GM) and his team have resurrected Escena back to the gorgeous course I remember from a few years back. Fairways are awesome. Greens are true. (Though slowish here in late December, 2024) And overall I'm ECSTATIC that one of my favorite courses in the desert is back with a confident 10 out of 10 stars for beauty and playability. Thank you, Rich. You were right. The course is beautiful!!!

Yelp
This is just for the restaurant, I don't golf. For a beautiful setting and great views, this place can't be beat. Weather permitting, sit on the patio and enjoy. The service is hot and miss, mostly friendly, but hostesses can be snarky if you don't make a reservation. Even if there's room. Food is meh, you're here for the views.

Yelp
Loved this course. One of my favorites in the Palm Springs area. The course was in great shape. Very green with beautiful views. The forward tees were the longest of the courses I've played at over 5500 yards. There were 3 or 4 par 3's at over 150yds. Yikes! The greens kept a nice pace. The water was present but fair to the hole. Lots of sand but avoidable with decent shots. Staff was great. We got out on time. Our round was over 4 hours but it didn't seem super slow. The only thing I wish was different was GPS in the carts and for the driving range, you hit into a net. Otherwise, great experience.

Yelp
Incredible golf course, beautiful clubhouse, and amazing views make this course a must play on your list if you were visiting Palm Springs!

Yelp
Was very fortunate to play here without the windy conditions. Excellent staff and fun course. Not too challenging unless it gets windy.

Yelp
Avoid this course. It's not worth anything more than $70. Super dry and greens are rough. It's sad because this course use to be amazing. I paid $127 for this tee time at 8:01 on a Friday. Guys in front even told us that all places in Palm Springs look like this. Not true at all. I felt ripped off. greens 4/10 Fairways 6/10 Course layout 9/10

Yelp
The course was in very good shape at this time of the year. We tee'd off at 6:27am, pro shop opened a little late, and starter was a little late. So we were never able to warm up, which is no big deal. We had a very good time, the course challenges you in different stages. It's a Jack Nicholas designed course, so you will have his trademark green's, plus he really did some amazing Bunkers designs. We all had a great time.

Yelp
I'll start with the cons. - no driving range - no gps in the carts - they have singles share carts (apparently the neighbors complain if they see too many carts) I'm still giving this course 5 stars despite all that. The conditions were excellent, and every hole is challenging but fun. It's my new favorite course in the Palm Springs area. Staff is very friendly, service is top notch, pace of play is very good (the marshall makes sure of that), and the course is very playable for players of all levels. I'll definitely be coming back.

Yelp
It's a great place to visit for brunch, or lunch...sitting outside, enjoying a yummy salad, with excellent views of the colorful desert vistas. I love it.

Kristine T.

Yelp
Had such a great time golfing today!! Rich and the woman in the golf shop were so nice and welcoming. Especially want to think Rich for helping me out with rentals!
google avatar

Yelp
The food was great! Loved sitting outside, service was good. Looking forward to going back.

Yelp
It was a real pleasure to play at this picturesque golf course. It is a challenging and beautifully maintained course. The weather couldn't be nicer this Christmas week. And if you're looking for some new golf clothes they had a very nice selection. The staff was friendly and helpful. I look forward to coming back to play.

Don W.

Yelp
Nice course layout. Easy pace. Good greens. Enjoyed it very much. Good weather that day!

Yelp
Best golf course I've played on so far! Extremely well kept grounds. The place is great, the staff is awesome, hats off to the GM and his team. Only downside was some asshole screaming about pace of play, however, did not go about it nicely at all, was rude and ignorant, bashed female players, and his group of 4 consistently rode our asses even after offering them to play ahead, them not, then us skipping an entire hole and playing very quickly, they continued to show up and harass. Unfortunate as this was, it did not ruin our fun at this course, not reflect the course as a whole. Highly suggest! If you're there during summer months, get out on the course as early as allowed! lol.

Steven P.

Yelp
Soup to nuts - 5 star facility. Course is super fair and the conditions are outstanding in every way. Food is top notch. Service is exceptional. Fun pro shop. Bathrooms are immaculate and I would recommend it to golfers of any skill.

Scott C.

Yelp
The club house was alittle hard to find, google kept taking me to the wrong gates. Other than that I love this course!!!!! Super playable for a high handy cap player. Not a long course from the tees we played. Seeing coyotes for the first time up close was a wild treat. I got paired up with a family from Canada and at first I wasn't sure if they were going to accept me in but we ended up having a blast. I will be playing this course again when I fly in from Memphis. Well done by everyone.

Angela V.

Yelp
We have been to lunch there several times. Always great food with lovely surroundings. We enjoy the feeling of freedom with the huge grounds all around. This beautiful place has inspired me to learn how to play golf.

Logan G.

Yelp
Escena is one of the most beautiful courses in the desert. Every time I play here it never fails to disappoint. The pro shop is so friendly and helpful, the food is amazing, and the course is always is pristine condition. Highly recommend!
google avatar

John W.

Yelp
Great course. Unfortunately it was very windy. Two club length wind and chasing my cap down the fairway took away from the experience.

Joe K.

Yelp
Great for your average golfer. Beautiful fairways. Book early tee times in the summer to avoid the afternoon heat.

Yelp
Hey there just amazing place really good condition and very nice people love it I do recommend too everyone should check out this amazing place and the restaurant was amazing food and service I believe it's a very nice place

Yelp
Played this course in May. Challenging & gorgeous. Had a nice lunch at the restaurant. Lovely atmosphere & view of the course.

Yelp
Great golf course! However the pre pay booking is STUPID! Why should I have to charge a hundreds of extra dollars on my credit card to book a 4-some with my buddies?? Most People no longer carry cash, and I do not accept credit cards, Zelle, or Venmo.. This crap needs to change!

Joseph S.

Yelp
Finishing up my worst experience at a resort course in my life. There are minimal bathrooms (we only saw one of the two supposedly on course), no ability to get refreshments at the turn, the drink cart is infrequent, and worst of all, there is no real driving range to prepare for the round. I would never return at price point. Off to the 18th hole. Edit: and of course our cart died on 18 lol. Should have waited for the review! :)
google avatar

Yelp
Ha, yeah... golf clubs are definitely NOT my scene! A friend took me and the husband to this gorgeous place when we were visiting Palm Springs recently. Really great scenery and! But since we don't golf, we had to check out the restaurant. Man, I'm glad that we did! Those burgers were amazing. Many options to chose from and no problems to change around toppings. Fried came in three different ways, too. Regular, steak cut and string. The steak cut were my favs. We sat outside in the sun with a view of the mountain range and the greener than green golf course. Some water features in the background, regular refill of soft drinks and water, nice company... felt like royalty! The bathrooms were not shabby either :-D
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful course. Very well kept. Tons of wild life on the course and variety of vegetation to accompany. Facilities are all very clean as well. Friendly staff. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Jim L.

Yelp
Service was very good. Outdoor dining and views were great. I sent the burger back when it arrived well done and dry. The second burger was too rare. I ordered it medium. The kitchen was unable to Provide me with a proper burger.

Yelp
Good round here during the covid era but Escena was open and accommodating. Beer cart still running. Friendly staff. Gorgeous and well-cared for course. Masks were worn anywhere in or around the clubhouse and first tee. But we were ok to play without on the course. Everyone got their own cart and we social distanced by making sure we hit our golf balls in many different directions. Pro shop was having a ludicrous sale when we played there too. Like 70% off apparel and even Travis Mathew golf shirts. I had to get a couple. It was the best prices I have ever seen. We played good golf. Enjoyed the weather and a nice morning and had NO WORRIES at all after three plus months cooped up with no golf and festivities. It was great to be out there and enjoying life!

Yelp
Course is in great condition but the staff is horrible. We played in 3:52 and were harassed by the staff all day about our pace of play. On Hole 3 we were asked to pick up pace when there was a group on the green in front of us. On 10 we were told our 1:55 front nine was too slow and that we should be playing a sub 3:30 pace as a foursome. We finished with no one behind us. The Marshall admitted that the starter was a terrible person but justified it by saying she was an Olympian. Gold medal for being a bad human.

Yelp
(Tourist trap) Right from the start we were told they didn't have the appetizer we ordered truffle fries. Or server was not friendly. We only got one drink. We both had the rib eye that came with truffle fries butt they were out of truffle fries we had to have mashed potatoes. The outside patio was dirty. Or rib eyes were over cooked never asked how are food was. He forgot we were there. Then we saw orders of truffle fries behind served. We left there very unhappy.. Will not recommend this place to family or friends or to stray dogs..

Ross C.

Yelp
It is with considerable disappointment that I must advise against patronizing this particular golf course in the Palm Springs area. Despite its online presentation suggesting a pristine playing environment, both the fairways and greens were found to be in unacceptable condition upon arrival. Moreover, the required prepayment of $166 per person did not reflect the quality of the facility, which suffered from incessant airplane noise and notably slow pace of play. Efforts will be made to seek restitution for what I consider to be misleading advertising and a clear misrepresentation of the course's actual condition.I have also noticed a number of overly positive reviews on their website and various social media platforms, which seem inconsistent with my experience and potentially misleading to other customers. This disparity raises concerns regarding the authenticity of those reviews and suggests a possible deceptive practice that I believe warrants further investigation.

Yelp
We heard great things about this course and couldn't wait to play on the way to the airport. It was perfect they had everyone report club showers, so it's perfect before you fly out. Unfortunately, they said both the mens and womens were out of order. What a crock of shit! We had to drive another 10 miles to where we stayed to shower. Course was okay, but nothing fun or exciting. Redundant, boring holes. Indian wells and dessert willow were MUCH more memorable with impeccable customer service and amenities. Waste of our last day.

Yelp
The annual "Team Fight On" vs. "team eight clap" golf game was held at Escena Golf Club this year, only a couple of miles from our administrative retreat location. Having never golfed at Escena (aside: and not having golfed since Thanksgiving), I really did not know what to expect. Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised at how every aspect of this course exceeded my expectations. Arriving on a Wednesday morning around 9:15 for a 10:00 tee time, we were immediately greeted by staff at the entrance. Our carts were waiting for us to load, and included a small ice chest attached to the cart... filled with ice. Towels and score cards were already onboard for us. The staff in the pro shop was ... friendly! So many times I've walked out of a pro shop feeling like I somehow inconvenienced the staff, based on the way they spoke to me-- not here! These folks were friendly and cordial. At $34 for 18 holes, the price is very reasonable. With no real driving range, there is a practice net, and free range balls. No nickel and dime operation here. Because it was a quiet morning, we were able to tee off a little early. The fairways in most spots are wide and forgiving for casual players like me, but offer enough challenge with sand traps and water hazards. There are few par fours, with mostly par 5s and 3s. If you haven't played in Palm Springs, then you'll be surprised at all the roadrunners, rabbits, ground squirrels, and other critters running all over the place. The mountain backdrop behind the course makes every shot picturesque, even if your play isn't photo worthy. As for our scores, we were down on the front 9, but Team Fight On obliterated team eight clap after the turn; thus and thus, we will affectionately call the course e'SCena moving forward. A great day of golf with great people.

Yelp
Course was in excellent shape. Greens rolled pure. Straightforward course with very wide fairways. Hard to get in trouble off the tees. Some good short par 4's offer good risk reward options. Typical Nicklaus layout with good green complexes. Scenery is beautiful. A very enjoyable day on a very playable course for many skill levels.
google avatar

Claudio D.

Yelp
This was my favorite place for the smoke salmon with bagel and cream cheese. They have taken it off the menu and all portions have been reduced by half. So disappointed.
google avatar

Michael S.

Yelp
This is a beautiful course however it seems like they always overbook it... and if they always overbook the course, they could plan to not overbook it. I played nine holes because I'm can not even finish before the sun sets, even though we started at 12:30. My favorite life hack came from the " is what it is" starter made the awesome recommendation that I should just play the front nine twice because there's no way I was for going to get to the last few holes if I played 18. And his comment, it is what it is. And I guess thats how I would sum up this course, it is what it is. But my lasting memory came from the greeter who after asking how the round was, didn't take my answer constructively, and said I can go walk inside and talk to his manager if I had a problem. I didn't really I was annoyed, but he pushed me into writing this review, which was more productive for me, than speaking to his manager. Thank you mr. very tan golf bag guy. #escenagolf @escenagolf

Brock D.

Yelp
amazing greens and the course is always in beautiful conditions. order your food before the turn and you will be all set for a great day

Tamara H.

Yelp
Played 18 holes today in 4 hours and must say the course is in GREAT condition. Is was a good day!

Yelp
Recently played course in Palm Springs/ Cathedral City. Paid $160 green fees. There is no range, just a warm up area that is in fair shape. Practice green in lovely shape, but not indicative of the greens on the course. Fairways are wide open, with several well placed bunkers. Greens and tee boxes in good shape. Overall, the course is nice with multiple tees to select from, but the price is prohibitive relative to other quality locations in the area.

Matthew B.

Yelp
5 stars a lot to do with the service here. We were running late because of Caltrans closing lanes on the 10 fwy and the lady at the pro shop was super helpful; got us out at a later time. Starter was super informative as it was our first time playing here. The layout is nice, conditions when we were there were really good! Will definitely be back due to the employees taking pride in their job and being so welcoming !
google avatar

MARIAM M.

Yelp
Welll. I really wanted for the food to be good but unfortunately did not compare to the view. The view and the place is beautiful but the food really disappointed us.

Mike M.

Yelp
Enjoyed an amazing round of golf. Definitely worth the price. Course was very pretty, well manicured, and staff was amazing. Definitely coming back!
google avatar

Bill H.

Yelp
I was surprised this only had a 4 star rating. I have played at many courses and courses should always be judged on their surroundings as well as the quality of their greens and challenging holes. This course had some of the best views I have seen. A patch of green paradise in a desert :) with so much wild life.. probably because of it being one of the few tropical oasis in the desert. Food was good and staff were great . For a public course it was treat!!

Yelp
Escena Golf Club is one of Palm Springs' hidden gems! Great Pro Shop, fantastic Grill where you can sit outside, grab a bite to eat and enjoy breathtaking views of the mountains. But most of all, the course itself is stunning! It is so well designed and maintained. No wonder it is the 6th best golf course in all of California (as stated by PGAtour.com). Now in October the winter Rye grass is looking beautiful and will take several strokes off your game, for sure. Come check it out!

Tl B.

Yelp
We've been coming to Palm Springs for several years and always look forward to playing golf at Escena Golf Club. Finally made our way there yesterday and found the course in not as good condition as years past. Just seemed in a little bit rougher condition. Greens especially weren't great. Many pock marks on the greens and they weren't in their usual fine rolling condition. Something was off with the entire course. Not in it's normal great shape. Still, the cart guys and the starter were great and treated us with sincere hospitality.

Rosquete B.

Yelp
4*Escena Golf Super staff Great pro-shop Well-maintained course; challenging 4 tees; bathrooms on course; water stations; beverage cart Can play 9 Have restaurant on premises

Yelp
Let me start by saying WOW! This place is top notch. From the service we received in the restaurant and the pro shop was by far one of the best experiences I've ever had at a golf course.5 stars. They re seeded the entire course and the results were amazing lush green everywhere and not a single brown (dead) spot.5 stars to the greens krew! So glad I chose this course from the many options I had believe me you won't be disappointed. Shout out to the starters and Kart crew guys to excellent job. Chris was really cool by the way thanks for shining my clubs and providing us with great service. I will definetly be back. 5 stars all around.

Yelp
Overall a fun, playable course even if you have never played it. Fair enough value, paid $70 for mid-day Tee time recently. You get to hit driver most holes. We played from 6600 yard tees which allows for fun, challenging par 3's, some about 200 yards. If you are decent it's hard to lose a ball here. The back is more nuanced than the front. A couple of trickier holes are a back to back par 4 and par 5 with water on the left. Hint: that water on the par 5 is a lot closer than you think so don't go too far left of the directional pole. Fantastic finishing hole 18, par 5 with water in front of the green. I guess it doesn't have a range so that's problematic. Drink cart came by a few times. Staff very friendly. The greens are slower than you think they would be. My only other complaint is lack of yardage markers. Unless you are playing with someone who has GPS you will have a lot of guessing. Overall it's in good shape, from tee boxes to bunkers. I will add to my list for places to play here.
