Location is nice. It is beside the St. Joseph Cathedral and is located within the old quarter. The room is okay if you are used to stay in a simple place. Downside is no elevator in this hotel. Overall, all good. Still recommended.

Stayed here for one night when I arrived in Hanoi. Very affordable good-sized room in old-town with friendly staff. I took the bus from the airport, and it was not a far walk from the bus stop to here. The bathroom window didn't really close so there was some noise from outside, but it wasn't noisy throughout the night.

Was very disappointed with hotel Especen; 1. When we arrived at the hotel at 2.30 pm, we were brought to another hotel nearby - so we didn't stay at the hotel we paid for 2. Hotel: The room at the hotel nearby was located on the 3rd floor with no lift - we had to carry our luggage upstairs with steep staircase (there's 3 luggage for 3 pax, 2 were carried by hotel helper) 3. Room: The room was dated, and bedsheets had stains. We had to use our own t-shirt to cover hotel pillowcase 4. Service: We stayed until 10pm and checked out the same day, asked for helper to help carry our bags down and they pretend not understand our requests - later a man possibly coming from the original hotel came to help bring down our bags 5. There was no free water in the room, but the hotel description said provided We would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Very bad!

This is one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at for this price! The room was spotless, and the furniture looked brand new. The design was simple yet contemporary, creating a cozy and stylish atmosphere. The amenities had a distinct Japanese touch, which made the stay even more impressive. Overall, a fantastic experience—I would highly recommend it

I had a very pleasant stay at Especen Hotel, and I'd be happy to stay here again if I return to Hanoi's Old Quarter for a future trip. I was a bit concerned after seeing a few negative reviews. I did notice that the sheets had a few small stains on them, as some other reviewers mentioned, but that was the only thing I noticed from the negative reviews. They do have multiple buildings, so perhaps it helped that I chose to pay a little extra for a "Family Room, Balcony." Maybe some of their cheaper rooms have those issues from the negative reviews? They're also doing renovations though, so perhaps they're fixing or have already fixed the problems that others mentioned. The room was quite modern and well maintained. The big window and the balcony were great additions. Note: make sure to leave your water heater turned on (the switch with the red light). I turned mine off by accident and took some cold showers until I realized my mistake. 😅 The staff was also incredibly responsive over WhatsApp. Happy to accommodate me when I needed to push back my arrival date. And when I had to leave a couple days early at the last minute, they were happy to put my room back on the market and refund me for any days that they might be able to rebook it for. When I put up a Do Not Disturb sign on my door, they also took the initiative to leave fresh towels, toiletries, and bottled water in a bag on my doorknob. It's not a 5-star luxury hotel, but as a well-priced option for a traveler seeking comfort and flexibility, I'd say it's excellent.

It a fair and decent hotel, with basic facilities, room and toilet was clean most importantly. Stayed there initially for 2 days and came back again to same hotel during the last day for overnight stay. Can request for balcony room. Located right next to the St Joseph church, this location is excellent as it's a midpoint to walk towards the tourist attraction spots in Hanoi. Overall, satisfied.

Assigned rooms are in a different building. We told we would check out early in the morning but no one is there. Okay experience overall

The hotel is perfectly located in the heart of Hanoi where most of the attractions are located considering its competitive price. We stayed there for four days. The hotel has no lift but we're lucky to be assigned to the second floor. The reception area especially the sofa, has many cat's hair but it's not a problem for us because my wife loves cats.Service is excellent especially in maintaining organized, and clean rooms with complete basic needs..We only worry for some time where the reception area has no personnel assigned while the main entrance of the hotel is left open with the room keys placed on the front desk.Generally I recommend this hotel for anyone planning to visit Hanoi.
