Esplanada Cafe

Please for the love of god don’t order the nachos. They were €10.50, and they barely put any “cheese” (out of a jar, cheese whiz) on them and when we asked for more cheese the man refused and said it was €2 more. The service is not good here, and ruined the experience. There is a cute little coffee shop on the corner before you walk up to this restaurant and that would be a better bet than this place!

Unfortunately it was a lack of kindness or reaching out. Nachos were ordered and they asked us to pay beforehand which was a bit odd. So we thought ok. Did notice that they had no other customers here hardly. We went to support the singer in the park because someone mentioned this. Surprised by the lack of care. Yes we just wanted the nachos to have more cheese on it. The fact is that it wasn’t even real cheese, it was cheese whizz and very, very sparse. The service person was ok! It was the the guy, taller next to him, wouldn’t bend. it’s an extra 2 Euros!! It was the principal. And it wasn’t cheap. We would have stayed all night long and would have ordered more drinks. The night had just began. If you are the manager, I’m Surprised at the whole attitude. Just keep ripping off the tourist! Don’t come here! Cool place on corner is very electric and busy!

We had to pay 1,20€ extra per person to get vegan milk for our galaõ, which is just completely audacious. I’ve never seen anything like it. Amidst a climate crisis you are actively sanctioning people who are trying to be animal and climate friendly?

Love this place. Great laidback atmosphere under the shade of the rubber fig trees, often with live music (usually some good samba/bossa nova). For a cafe in a park the food is great combined with excellent drinks. They do an excellent gin and tonic and unlike a lot of places in Portugal they actually show the glass the gin!

Excellent good under the tree and great music along! We had octopus and chicken skewers, highly recommend the octopus! I could have two of them!

It's a simple place in the beautiful park near the old giant trees. The atmosphere is great! It's a pity that food, drinks and service is a pit poor. I was passing by and had to stop and sit there because cause they had some beautiful musicians playing, that was the best part of the experience. Beautifup Place for street artists to perform!

Not a good experience nachos were bad asked for more cheese due to the sad state of our nachos and asked to pay 2€ extra. Maybe that’s why they ask you to pay first. Music is nice you can probably have a much better time at the kiosk less than a minute away. Good place for a bad night now I know to avoid this spot. That’s why I always try and check reviews.

My favourite place, luckily found on the first day of vacation. Live music most of the time, interesting menu items like mazagren coffee. Staff members were nice. The tree abouve the tables is amazing. What species is it?
