Perfect location a few minutes walk from the nearest tram stop or a easy walk down Swanston Street to Melbourne Central Shopping Mall/Train Station. Rooms ideal as a base for exploring the sights of Melbourne. Friendly staff, quick check in/out. Very quiet rooms. We appreciated having a fridge in our room.

Excellent location and the bedrooms are good and clean. The bathroom is just amazing. Sunket was pretty helpful in everything we needed. I lived there for 1 month and I cant complain about anything

Couple from Singapore was greeted by friendly and great staff. Is was our first time going to Melbourne and the room that I booked was great. Not too spacious, but its good for couple and to store our luggages. It was winter and therefore aircon is already preset to its temperature I believed. Even the aircon is off, it was still cold throughout the night. Toilet was great, only bidet wasn't available but thats fine. Check out was at 10am, would recommend 12pm but thats fine. 3mins walk to the heartland of Melbourne City, will be 10mins by foot. Accessible to eatery, sightseeing, transportation. I will definitely come back for more experience. 🫰🫰

Rooms are small & compact but the doors are loud and you can hear quite a lot of noise in the hallway from your room. Not the best for light sleepers but beds were comfortable and staff were nice

The room was clean and airy, the beds were so comfortable, and the bed linen was pristine. The Essence Hotel location was perfect for us. Would recommend to everyone,

The location was really good in that it was on the fringe of the city centre so it was easily walkable into the CBD. Fairly clean, there was a gym which I did not get to check out, good bang for buck, no extra amenities in the room such as mini bar etc.

This hotel seriously needs to address its soundproofing issues. Throughout the night, I kept hearing the sound of running water from the bathroom, doors opening and closing from neighboring rooms, footsteps or objects being dragged from the room above, and random knocking noises, all of which made it impossible for me to fall asleep.

This is a convenient place to stay at the city end of Swanston Street. It’s close to the University of Melbourne and shopping. The rooms are modern and clean. There is no restaurant but there are plenty of places to eat close by on Lygon Street.
