Google
We received a recommendation from our hotel and we were very pleased with our meal, the service and atmosphere. The caprese salad tomatoes were very fresh and high quality, two of us enjoyed the carbonnara, and the other two loved the meatballs and cace e pepe. The pasta dishes were outstanding and cooked to perfection. We would definitely come again to try other dishes. Service was very good!

Google
The service was good overall, the restaurant's crowded atmosphere clearly impacted the level of individualized attention from the staff. Waiters efficiently took orders but did not seem to have the opportunity to offer recommendations or engage in understanding our preferences. The food had its highs and lows. The fettuccine with bolognese ragout was excellent and well-balanced; the accompanying parmigiano was unnecessary. My wife's steak was decent but lacked any distinguishing features. For dessert, the chocolate cake was enjoyable, though it did not deliver the anticipated intensity or flavor of a truly exceptional chocolate experience. Overall, the restaurant offers a pleasant, albeit busy, environment. However, it doesn't stand out as exceptional, especially given that prices are approximately 20% above average

Google
Est Artigiani del Gusto offers refined Roman cuisine with a focus on fresh, handmade dishes—especially pasta. The service is warm and attentive, striking a balance between professional and personal. The wine list is a standout: well-curated, with thoughtful pairings guided by knowledgeable staff. Prices are slightly above average, but I find the quality and experience worth it. A solid choice for excellent food, serious wine, and genuine hospitality in Rome.

Google
We were a bit disappointed with this restaurant. Having such great reviews we expected better. We tried two pastas and they were both ok, but not extraordinary. Maybe we didn’t choose wisely, since this did not seem the best place for pastas, so maybe ordering the other dishes might be a better option. Anyways, the prices were a bit high for the quality in my opinion. On the other hand, the service was great! The atmosphere was also nice.

Google
Best dinner we had in Rome! Everything was amazing and the service was amazing. We highly recommend. We stumbled upon this restaurant with no plans and was blown away but we do recommend reservations. We were able to be sat by luck.

Google
We got to the restaurant around 8:00/8:30 and were sat immediately without a reservation. The service was excellent and the food even better. The best meal we have had in Italy so far! Highly recommend stopping in!

Google
First dinner in Rome. I wasnt blown away but the foood was very good. We ordered the proscuttio and cheese for appetizer along with the meatballs. They were both pretty good. For dinner we ordered the Caceo e Pepe, Papperdelle rague, octopus, and the cod. These were all very good.

Rachel Heuel

Google
We were immediately greeted by a waitress who appeared irritated that we had shown up for our reservation. We ordered a pasta course, salad, and cod fillet. The pasta was marginal without any flavor. We waited another 20 minutes after finishing the pasta for our second course, only after we went inside and asked where our food was. Mind you, we were the only customers in the restaurant and they couldn’t seem to get with the program. The cod, although cooked correctly, was bland and nearly inedible. They served us biscotti afterward and it was extremely dry and flavorless. The location was in an odd alleyway, not a charming location as many other restaurants in the city remain. Overall, the poor service and mediocre food will deter us from visiting again. There are many other mom and pop restaurants in Rome with way better food. Oh by the way, the restaurant replied to this review. They were irritated and rude and instead of apologizing for terrible service and mediocre at best food they criticized my opinion. This reflects the inappropriate service attitude and quality of the restaurant. We have been in Rome many times for extended periods and this was one of the worst restaurant experiences we have ever had. We love Rome. This food experience and comment to my review is nothing we have ever encountered. We seek out the smaller more intimate restaurants away from the tourist areas and had high hopes for this place.

Yelp
Amazing dinner at Est Artigiani del Gusto tonight! Delicious and fresh Caprese salad we devoured before I could take a picture, creamy and delicious Spaghetti Carbonara with super crispy guanciale, spinach and ricotta filled ravioli with sage butter sauce and incredibly tender grilled octopus with potatoes! So happy we walked by this place and I looked it up! Service was really great and they even gave us some of their focaccia they make in house to try, which was delicious!! This restaurant is situated on the cutest street so sit outside and people watch and take it all in! Can't beat the ambiance!

Yelp
Excellent black pasta, superb service, desserts are very good, and the staff very friendly and true Italian

Yelp
Warning: Hard to find from the main boulevard because the street sign is so far down the street. Glad we finally found it, worth being lost for 20 minutes, the food was delicious and very nice service.

Yelp
Great food good wine list staff was responsive Location maybe tough to find But being down an alley in Rome for some reason usually means better food

Yelp
Well on our second night in Roma we found Artigiani del gusto !! We had a reservation for 8:30 and showed up a bit early but our table was set we are off and running . First of all the restaurant is packed on a Monday night so be sure and make a reservation to avoid any waits cause they are like a fine tuned clock. Well where do I start the first plates were a carpaccio that was the finest and rarest beef you could imagine that just melted in your mouth with outstanding flavor and also an appetizer special of the night that my partner had that was also superb. My entree was the tagliatelle with truffles in a home made butter sauce that was so fantastic I ate the entire plate and hard to describe just how spectacular it was The wine list was just right and had wines in a variety of price ranges to please every palate My partners opted for a cavatelli special of squid ink pasta with porcini mushrooms and sausage with fennel that was fantastic !!! I finished with an Insalata misto and the three of us just sat back finished our bottle of super red wine and said this is the best meal of our entire trip !! The ambience of soft white lights and wine bottles surrounding the restaurant just added to the excellent evening OUTSTANDING to say the least

Yelp
Best meal I had in Rome and stands out as one of our better meals in all of Italy. Great ambiance on a quiet street. Almost went back a second night and would recommend

Ellen W.

Yelp
We had the most wonderful meal. We arrived before they opened for lunch, they let us in , AND they went across the street to buy gluten-free pasta to cook for my husband. I felt like I was in Nonnas kitchen. I wanted so badly to go in the back and learn her secrets . There are so many places to eat in Roma... but this hidden gem is special .
google avatar

Matt T.

Yelp
Great food, great service. Close to everything! More expensive than other places, but it is a nicer more formal place.

Yelp
What an amazing meal! My husband had been looking forward to Amatriciana since we made plans to end our vacation in Rome, and the chef made him happy! as for me, I am reluctant to order ravioli in the States because the pasta is usually too thick. when the waitress described the spinach ravioli with butter and sage sauce as "delicate" I crossed my fingers and hoped that I had found what I was missing... did I ever! the ravioli melted in my mouth and delivered a subtle, tasty surprise. Mille grazie to chef and staff of the fabulous gem of a restaurant for a gastronomic delight!

Daniel P.

Yelp
Service was top shelf. Everyone with a smile and happy to help a couple hungry Americans. Best Gluten free pasta, just with pepper and cheese, phenomenal. I also got the lamb and it was sensational. House wine was very nice. The building is also just awesome the brickwork was so different and cool. I found an old nail above our table.

Yelp
Incredible experience! Best meal we had in Rome! Recommended to us by a local, it was a must try. We had a 9pm reservation. Ordered caprese, cacio e pepe, pomodoro con bolognese, cod (special), and some sort of delicious chocolate/pistachio/orange cake for dessert. Every bite of the meal was amazing. And the service topped it off. Such a comfortable yet upscale ambience. We were there almost 10:30 pm and watched the staff eat dinner together LOL you know it's good because they're eating it themselves! Please give this place a try.

Yelp
While staying nearby in an AirBnb we decided to check Est Artigiani del Gusto out for dinner. We were quickly greeted when we arrived and seated. The inside consists of a bar area and a seperate dining area that is lined with a very impressive selection of wines. The decor is quite nice, lit well and the art makes for a very intimate ambiance. SCW selected some Rose for us to try, and while unfortunately they had just run out of that bottle they suggested a similar bottle that was very delicious. We then ordered our meals, SCW had the spinach and ricotta ravioli while I had pasta with basil, zucchini strips sliced so thin, beautiful tomatoes with a incredible sauce. SCW (Super Cute Wife) and I shared bites of our meals as we always like to try each others food and her ravioli was delicious. She enjoyed every bite. Every bite of my home made pasta was incredibly delicious. The sauce was incredible, complex and it wasn't drowning in it like we often find in the states. Delicate and subtle flavors danced on my taste buds with each bite. We ordered some lemon cake (fancier name from the menu that I don't recall) and it was delicious. Not too sweet and the lemon came through flavorful and moist. A very good way to finish the meal. Service was outstanding with knowledgeable and friendly staff that do speak English although we tried our best to speak in the little Italian we have learned. We weren't rushed and we could take the time to savor the meal like it deserves.

Yelp
Was excited to come here as the reviews looked great. Although the service and ambiance were great, I unfortunately can't say the same with the food. I started off with the caprese which tasted great; however there were a bit too many tomatoes in relation to the cheese. For my main I ordered the Amatriciana, and this was the dish that really disappointed. The presentation was great, but the pasta itself was sub par (not as good to what I've had in Rome). The biggest qualm was with the sauce which was far too salty. I tried to overlook it but it became difficult to eat near the end of my meal. This may have to do with the fact that there was no sort of spice (which I had in all my previous Amatricianas) and found myself relying on the red wine (which was great) to cut through the saltiness of the dish. I personally believe that a little bit of spice to an Amatriciana adds much needed depth to an otherwise heavy dish. As much as I wanted to enjoy this place I'm giving it a 6.8/10.

Yelp
The best carbonara in Rome. I've been 3 times now and a must visit every time I go to Rome. Family owned by the never people. Just love this place. You will not be disappointed

Yelp
We had a wonderful meal here as we were exploring Rome. We made reservations with TheFork app which worked out just fine. They had our table ready and waiting for us. For appetizers, both our dishes were very flavorful and new to us. First was a chicory dish with Romano cheese and peppers. Second was an amazing duck speck with greens. Both dishes were quite memorable and I'd order them again in a heartbeat. For pasta, we had amatriciano and a porcini mushroon dishes, Again, both were wonderful. There were many different wines available by the glass and we tried several. They served my wife a nice glass of Prosecco and kindly gave her the rest of the bottle since it was close to empty. Who complains about a little extra Prosecco? Not us! We were too full for dessert but I was watching a mother of one of the staff cranking out homemade pasta. It was so amazing watching her technique and she smiled graciously when I asked if I could take a picture. She was so happy, she instructed her daughter to give us desserts to try so try them we did! Delicious!

Yelp
EST! My partner and I came here for a late night dinner during our trip to Roma. This was probably one of our most memorable dinners. The service was phenomenal. We kicked off the night with some complimentary champagne and away we went! I had a steak (I think I had eaten pasta for lunch so wanted something else lol) which was so tender and cooked perfectly. My partner had a truffle pasta and we split a bottle of red. The whole atmosphere is fancy and fun. Stop by when you're in the area!

Yelp
Excellent: Hidden Gem of Rome The best food we had during our time in Rome! It was easy to make a reservation (which I recommend doing for many restaurants in Rome) and when we got there we were greeted by the friendly staff. They kept us well fed with yummy bread (for free) and had a good wine selection. The caprese salad was amazing, particularly the mozzarella which was incredibly fresh. The pasta was the show stopper. I got the pappardelle ragú and it was some of the best, freshest pasta I've ever tasted. We met the owner- so friendly! Overall an amazing experience and would highly recommend.

Yelp
Phenomenal food, the cooking staff did a great job with all aspects of the meal. Wine was great and reasonably priced, staff was attentive and accommodating. This place is tremendous

Yelp
Wow what can I say about this place . The food was just amazing here the pasta is house made and you can definitely tell when you have the first bite . The flavors are just perfect and everything was cooked to perfection. This place might be a little hidden from the main restaurants but this is a must go to place if you want to have some amazing pasta . They defiantly have a big wine selection. We got a wine the server recommended and it was really good .

Yelp
There were three of us visiting the restaurant. I looked on yelp to help us decide the best place for lunch. The rain added to the quaint ambience of this place. The waitress spoke English but like most locals of Rome, trying our best to speak their language with a kind "Ciao" is always treated with kind regards. The food at this restaurant was some of the best I've had while in Italy. Complimentary potatoes were so delicious. The pasta with truffles was delicious and definitely homemade fettuccini was used for this dish. I wanted to go again but our time in Italy was filled up with many other great places.

Yelp
Had a lovely lunch here, though a bit slow, particularly when there was hardly anyone else there. Hubs had the special lasagna which was very light. Unlike the American version that is so heavy with super thick noodles, this one was like a thin ribbon building up a lovely book of meat and cheeses. It was baked to perfection on top. I had a pasta with zucchini and tomato, and it was fine but nothing extraordinary. The salad with avocado and Parmesan should have omitted the avocado because it was so I ripe. Crispy avocado, anyone? Presume peeling that unripened avocado is what took almost 1/2 hour to deliver. Staff was very friendly. Conveniently near G-Rough hotel, close to Piazza Navona, but way less touristy. Locals were stopping in there.

Yelp
Stopped in here for macchiato and breakfast. Very friendly staff, the smoothest espresso and delicate and delicious pastries.

Yelp
Great ambiance. Great food. I got the prosciutto and buffalo mozzarella and then the gnocchi with pesto. Both very delicious.

Yelp
We stopped for lunch and tried some pasta, and the petto di vitella and tagliata. The potato fries were good, real potato but kind of too much oil was used to cook them. The veal and my friend's pasta was also a bit greasy and the tagliata was a little tougher than expected. I wouldn't order them again. They played some soothing piano music in the background and with all the wine decor, it felt pretty cozy. We had a latte to finish, which tasted fine. Maybe if you want to try their multitude of wines, it's worth a visit.

Yelp
Made it to our reservation at 2:30pm. This was the only available time 3 weeks prior to my trip with a couple friends. It's a cute place and food was really good and wasn't salty. We are not vegetarians, but ended up ordering all vegetarian food. We started with a salad and had the spinich ricotta ravioli and the tomoato basil fettuccine. The pasta was soft in consistency. They also offer a selection of over 300 different kinds of wine (although not all are on the menu and most are sold by the bottle). I ordered a gewurztraminer and friends ordered wine they also really liked, I have no idea what kind they ordered but I'm sure there's something on the menu for wine lovers out there. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our food and it was nice to see some fresh greens offered on the menu. I would definitely recommend this place!

Yelp
Wonderful place tucked away on a side street. Very friendly staff, owners work on site and clearly take pride in their wonderful bistro. Food is excellent, great variety and quality.

Yelp
An absolutely wonderful meal, a group of 5 All loved this restaurant, the food, veal melted in your mouth, pasta wonderful etc. Highly recommend this restaurant. Atmosphere was well done and appreciated.

Yelp
Authentic Italian restaurant with in house made pasta. We went for the pasta and it did not disappoint! We had the fettuccine with homemade butter and truffle oil and the grilled steak. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and do their best to speak English. The wine was wonderful!

Yelp
After a very long and enjoyable tour of the Vatican museum followed by cocktails elsewhere, my friend and I walked by Est Artigiani del Gusto while looking for a different restaurant, and decided to stop in for dinner. The host was very accommodating, despite the fact that we didn't have a reservation. We were offered the choice of a prime table for no more than an hour, or a not-so-prime table for as long as we liked. It had been a very long day, and we wanted to relax and enjoy a leisurely dinner; we opted for the not-so-prime table, and I'm really glad we did! The ambiance is warm and relaxing, the staff is accommodating and kind. Everything in the restaurant is apparently made from scratch and this fact is illustrated by the quality and taste of the food. Add to that the fact that the wine list contains a number of very good, excellently priced bottles, and it's easy to understand why I enjoyed our dinner so much :-) For our entrées, we had the pasta Amartriciana and the pasta carbonara. Both dishes were exceptional! I'm now a total of fan of the manner in which Est Artigiani del Gusto executes their pasta with bacon and tomato sauce. We also decided to split a third entrée - the roast veal; the veal was tendered, perfectly seasoned, and completely delicious! Though I had no expectations whatever when we came here for dinner, I left knowing I had enjoyed one of the best dinners I've had in Rome in recent memory. I highly recommend Est Artigiani del Gusto, and plan to return soon.

Yelp
Great cafe in the side streets of Rome. We went there for breakfast. We ordered the full breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon etc. Breakfast had was good for Italian version but not quite the same as home. The coffee is as excellent as were the pastries. Very good service, atmosphere and food. Must try!

Yelp
A really impressive wine bar & restaurant that instantly felt like walking into an Italian home. We walked through the doors to be greeted with home cooked cakes cooling in their tins on the side. Menu had lots of choice - we opted for pasta with cheese and pepper & a spinach ravioli - both were cooked perfectly and tasted out of this world! What's special about this restaurant is the wine list - a huge selection and a very knowledgeable sommelier to help you navigate it. Unfortunately our experience was blighted slightly by another couple of guests who were loud and obnoxious and stole the waiters attention as well as interrupting the ambience - however, I still think this restaurant deserves 5 stars and will absolutely be going back on our return to Rome as well as recommending to friends and family. We didn't get to try the starter or dessert menu but they did bring us a pastry with the bill and this was warm from the oven which gives me great faith about the quality of the food. Toilet facilities were clean and provided a selection of hand soaps. Seating was comfy and spread out. Restaurant was easy to find and we'll be making it 'our favourite' from this trip to Rome!

Yelp
Best lasagna of my life. Waitress was very sweet, Chianti was amazing, best caprese salad I've ever had. Going back for breakfast.
google avatar

Kunhua L.

Yelp
Impressive! We went there after lunchtime, so there were few people in the restaurant . I really enjoyed the quietness and the good environment. The servants were very nice and helpful. I highly recommend the fettuccine with pine nuts and basil sauce, incredible flavor and texture. We also ordered a tonnarelli with cheese and pepper, and a crème brûlée. The tonnarelli was basically good but not that impressive. The dessert was not as good as its pastas. All in all, it's still a fabulous restaurant.

Yelp
We had a wonderful time at Est. The ambiance was very nice, small dining room with wine bottles all over the walls. Classy, without being formal. The food was very good. Our group throughly enjoyed the appetizers and generally enjoyed the dinner. The deserts were totally out of this world. The service was very good, friendly and engaging at the right times. All in all, a it was a very enjoyable time. The name was lived up to: Est - It is. Artigiani del gusto - Art of Taste.
google avatar

Yelp
Everything we've had here has been excellent. Cappuccino, Espresso, pasta and eggplant. Whether it's a quick coffee in the morning or a sit down lunch, I can't recommend this place enough!

Yelp
After regretting our decision to try Cantina e Cucini the previous night (see my review) we had a fantastic meal here - everything we wanted and expected from an Italian restaurant in Rome. This was truly a hidden gem and we wish we had discovered it earlier. Service was friendly and patient, the wine was fantastic (true of any restaurant here), but the real highlight was the food: Crusty bread to start with high quality olive oil and balsamic, then Buffalo mozzarella Caprese with bright fresh flavorful tomatoes and tender mozzarella. I tried the duck speck salad with crunchy thinly sliced Jerusalem artichoke (sunflower root), mache (peppery/sweet greens) and a hint of sweetness from honey. We also got a side of chicory which was spot on - chili garlic and pecorino. The pasta is made by hand right in the back by female chef - super fresh - you can watch her roll it out on your way to restroom if you like. We got bolognese pappardelle, a classic, and very well executed at that! Our neighbors got - carbonara which also looked amazing. Bottom line: skip the wait and hype of the those spots around the corner, explore the alleys, and try EST! We loved it!

Yelp
If in Rome, you must eat here! It's surprisingly hard to find an authentic Italian restaurant in Rome that doesn't exist solely based on tourist business. Here you can dine with mostly locals, and enjoy superb food. Breakfast lunch dinner and dessert, we tried it all during our short stay. We came 3 times in 3 days because it's so hard to find restaurants like this place, and regretted the times we didn't eat here! A great family run business that is naturally busy, and doesn't require a host to push menus onto tourists. Super friendly, awesome food, and a decent price. They also have a very extensive wine list. Great for a quick standing breakfast of a croissant and a cappuccino or a sit down savory meal. Try the fresh pasta, it's amazing! Well, everything is amazing. Stop by here and you won't regret it!

Yelp
Nice find. Definitely recommend. Good breakfast. Tried via veneto breakfast with espresso.

Yelp
This was the best pasta we had in Rome! We absolutely adored this restaurant. It felt intimate and authentic. We shared a great bottle of wine, the anchovy appetizer, and each got our own pasta dishes. We left satisfied and thoroughly pleased. Definitely come to this restaurant - you will not at all regret.

Yelp
Such a wonderful restaurant. Naïma & Asia were lovely. We heard about the restaurant from a couple of bloggers Kara & Nate and made a reservation online. That day we were going to be running late so early in the day we walked to the restaurant to make a change (as we couldn't online) and they were very accommodating. Naïma and Asia stood outside and served us espresso and told us how to walk to the Spanish steps. They were friendly and the food was AMAZING. Not sure of the wine we had but it was delicious as well. Great vibe in the restaurant, delicious food and wonderful staff. Anyone who finds themselves in Rome should make a stop here.

Breffni M.

Yelp
Would give it ten stars if allowed. Superb simple elegant space with very attentive owner and two daughters plus Natalie who seems to be the boss of everyone. All English speaking. Favoloso wine selection. Great temps. Delicious fresh clean food !!! Have reserved a particular table with Natalie for every day we have remaining on the Rome leg of our working vacation as have been to Rome more than two dozen times and this is for so many reasons the best we have found period !!!!!!

Dana O.

Yelp
Best homemade pasta we've had in an entire two weeks of Italy! You can even see the noodles being made in the kitchen. We also had the sliced beef which was delicious but the fettuccini with truffles was one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had. We did not make reservations but they accommodated us quickly with a table close to the kitchen. When a table opened, they offered to let us switch. If it wasn't our last meal of vacation we would have come back.
google avatar

Natalie P.

Yelp
We had breakfast and really enjoyed it! The food was fresh and tasted great. The portions were a good size and good for the price too. Service was good, and the servers were friendly. It's truly a gem of an Italian place. Not a tourist trap. We leave tomorrow and are making it a point to go back today!!

Yelp
I passed by this restaurant often, always stopping and mentally commenting on its trendy look. It has good lightning and elegant interiors. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. Despite being in the afternoon rush, our server spared the time to make our visit special. We had a little wait before our food arrived, as expected, and our server apologized with a little appetizer of prosciutto e melone. Bread is whole wheat, impossible to find anywhere else. We ordered one eggplant parmesan and a fillet of beef with french fries. The fries were delicious (oven baked not fried)! The fillet was cooked well. My eggplant was everything is should be and was topped with a few fresh leaves of basil. The menu has several other items I can't wait to try. I'll definitely be coming here again. Everything about this place was just right.

Yelp
Decided to stop for dinner at about 19:30 on our first night in Rome. We were staying close by and saw the menu while walking by and the specials sounded wonderful. We were asked if we had a reservation, which we did not, but were told that a table was available for us until 21:00, plenty of time for dinner for us. The staff was very courteous and understood English quite well. Though the pasta dishes sounded wonderful, they make their own pasta, we chose a veal dish, a beef dish, and a small salad. The food arrived at our table in a short time and the presentation was simple but very nice. Our meals were excellent and the prices were very reasonable. We are in Rome for a few days and certainly plan to return to this family run establishment. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
google avatar

Christine Z.

Yelp
Lovely interior and atmosphere. The owners are very kind, but I believe the sommelier just tried to pass off a $10 glass of chianti on us after we specifically requested the $6 glass, asking me, "Does it really matter? A chianti is a chianti." She then proceeded to pour me a glass significantly less than that of my boyfriend's. That being said, the food is fresh, but most of the vegetables feel over cooked, to the point of being mushy.

Robert G.

Yelp
My wife and I enjoyed awesome dinner tonight at EST. We started with two salads, both delicious and I had the Pasta Carbonara and my wife enjoyed her eggplant parmigiana. We shared a bottle of Proceco with the dinner which made it perfect. Both meals were excellent.

Yelp
Wish I had found this place earlier! Food was yummy and the waitress was the sweetest and the most caring. Well worth the price!

Yelp
Est Artigiani was a great start to Rome. I had the pasta alla Amatriciana, a classic Roman dish, and an insalata mista. The Amatriciana was great and, considering the size for a primo, it was priced reasonably. For a high end ristorante, the wines here weren't expensive. The restaurant had amazing service (especially for bustling Rome). The restaurant wasn't touristy and many locals were eating there. I would definitely go back.
