"For casual eats or a classic brunch, Established Coffee in the Cathedral Quarter is known for their legendary “pie and drip”—possibly the most fun way to say "coffee and pie." There is also an excellent brunch menu for those looking to kick off the day a bit more traditionally (think: eggs on sourdough toast, house-made granola, and honey coconut porridge)."

This cafe was just up the street from our hotel, came here for brunch and had this mushroom toast that is maple soy glazed on sourdough and basil pesto .. it was sorcery on the taste buds! It was almost Michelin star! The coffee was brilliant too.

Google
Really solid coffee right near the centre of the Cathedral Quarter in Belfast City Centre. Seems to be popular with runners and is open early doors on a Sunday morning. Good service, with plenty of options and lots of seating in case you wanted to chill, making for an enjoyable atmosphere

Google
Went with a group of friends for breakfast. Despite it being busy we were served our food and drinks fairly quickly. Food was great! First time trying Japanese Milk Bread 🤤 The staff were all friendly! Loved the decor too.

Google
Delicious coffee - smooth, almost like caramel and perfectly prepared. Lovely staff. Quiet background music. Busy and buzzy. The wild garlic pesto on toast was maybe the best thing I've ever eaten

When in Belfast, don’t miss out on the traditional Irish breakfast, hearty, delicious, and perfectly paired with a strong cup of coffee!

Google
Dropped in for a light breakfast and a coffee on a Friday. Nice buzz to the place. Coffee was delicious, the croissant and cinnamon bun hit all the right spots. Everything on the other tables looked delicious too :)

Google
I am still so much impressed with this place,it was the first cafe we went to upon arrival to Belfast, and it's incredible. Great breakfast options,I went for the salmon with toast, and the portion of salmon was very generous. The kids enjoyed porridge. The coffee tastes like heaven! The staff were super friendly and welcoming, too! Highly recommend! Oh yes,and the design of the space is lovely!!

Google
A warm and friendly welcome, busy even at 7am! Good fresh cooked breakfast and cinnamon buns just out of the oven, what a great start to the day!

Yelp
Grabbed a quick takeaway of some sweet treats and lattes for breakfast during my morning walk through Belfast. I got there before they opened and had to wander around looking for the place because they had the gates down and all the signage is behind the metal covering gates. Saw some cool stuff as I wandered around looking for it to open. Great lattes and sweets!

Yelp
We went for a quick coffee. Then stayed for breakfast. Then had additional coffee. Atmosphere was warm. Coffee was wonderful. The staff made it exceptional. Barista knew what he was doing and Bridgette was so endearing. She took the time to provide points of interest for us. WOW!!!! THANK YOU. ALL!

Yelp
Great coffee, yummy pastries (tried the Kouig amann, tasted more like a croissant which I love), friendly service, ample space, nice music, good vibes. Recommend for good coffee and yummy brekkie!

Mallory K.

Yelp
Super cute coffee & breakfast spot in an adorable area in Belfast. Their cappuccino was the best one we'd had all trip! Also their honey & coconut porridge was AMAZING! I wish we found it sooner because we would've been there everyday.

Yelp
Good stuff here they got the cocaine and weed of coffee. Very recommended in my opinion but hey im not a coffee aficionado this is just truly based on my opinion.

Jonathan V.

Yelp
Best coffee in Belfast with a large breakfast item menu All theitcoffees are from their own roaster a few blocks away so fresh fresh fresh & the baristas are friendly. Discovered it on line and have been back every morning during our stay in Belfast If your a coffee aficionado it's not to be missed

Yelp
I didn't have much time to spare but I was in need of good coffee. I've seen this bright, airy place before, but I'd never tried it out. I opted for the flat white coffee and it was superb. I noticed on the receipt that the price charged was £2.5 yet directly below was an extra 20 pence charge that I couldn't understand. I didn't have time to query it. I also chose their sourdough bread, which was served with butter and jam at about £2.20. The sourdough bread was thick cut and it was exactly that; a mild sour flavour, beautifully textured, great smell and a tasty contrast to the butter and soft set jam. This is seriously good bread. I also prefer soft set jams as they tend to be a little more tart, have a higher natural fruit content and fresher flavour than the more traditional jams. The portions were pretty decent and served up by a friendly bunch of staff and instant payment via Apple Pay.

Yelp
This establishment is in the Cathedral district and was a short jaunt from our hotel in Belfast. Even though our hotel had complimentary breakfast we somehow never got there because we'd get detoured to Established Coffee instead, paying for excellent food and drink was better than ho hum hotel slop. Excellent drinks and breakfasts and friendly servers. Belfast is such an amazing place, the restaurant scene is phenomenal - be daring, go off the beaten path and try wonderful local businesses like Established Coffee

Yelp
Established has very much as it's name suggests become well established with coffee lovers in the area. It certainly is going for the modern up market hipster vibe and it's not afraid who knows it, situated in just the right part of the city to do so it means that it attracts an abundant level of coffee lovers at pretty much all times of the day. Unless your individual view of the world of people trying a little too hard to look trendy is negative, there is little not to like. The food and sweets are top notch and despite being on the slightly higher price tear for this kind of thing the quality is there to support it, and, to be fair, given the quality and the demographic the place is aimed at I'm sometimes surprised it's not a tad more expensive! The main attraction though has got to be the coffee itself. There are a range of exquisitely blended coffees and an array of preparation methods to choose from, espresso, cafétiere, filter, V60 etc and many more. You can also buy bags of coffee and many of the latest and greatest coffee making gadgets to take home. So, the only real drawback is if you want to sit in, is finding a seat. Other than that you're almost certain to enjoy every aspect of your trip here.

Yelp
I wish I could visit Established more often! Unfortunately it's a bit far from work to fit into a regular weekday lunchtime but occasionally I have gone into that part of town on a day off or on a Saturday simply to visit Established. Come to think of it, I've got a concert coming up at the Cathedral this month which will be a good excuse to go back to Established. There are usually coffees from three plantations and these keep changing. I would tend to order African coffee when I see it but everything's good here anyway. On my most recent visit, there was indeed an African coffee, probably the first Rwandan coffee that I've had. On most of my relatively few visits to Established, I've just had coffee with a cake or pastry but my most recent visit was for lunch and I opted for "Stew". This is more like a warm broccoli and beetroot salad than conventional stew but the ingredients were listed on the menu and this appealed to me as someone who doesn't care much for conventional stew. It was very pleasant food, if perhaps a little difficult to manage in a bowl with a small base. There is quite a lot of broccoli stem in it, lightly-cooked, and the pressure needed for cutting it meant that I really needed to hold the bowl rather than a fork with my left hand, just to stop the whole thing from toppling and spilling. Fortunately I didn't lose any of it! Established was one of the cafes used for Ulster Orchestra pop-up concerts on the Orchestra's 50th birthday in September 2016 and I was there on that occasion, listening to a string duo.

Yelp
Really cool coffee shop based in the Cathedral Quarter. It's not just hipster, minimal and modern but also stocks 3Fe coffee and they can make your brew using various different methods including the aeropress and chemex. I had a lovely flat white on my recent visit and it really hit the spot. The coffee had a nice roast, was smooth and didn't have any bitter aftertaste. This place is always pretty busy. It offers breakfast and brunch along with lots of nice sweet treats. They also have a section where you can purchase fresh coffee beans, filters, cups & mugs and brewing instruments etc for you to perfect your own coffee at home. I have an aeropress which they stock and find it fun to use and would recommend it if you want to try different types of beans.

Tara M.

Yelp
This is a great wee place. This is the place for coffee it seems. I am not a Coffee fan but the food is pretty decent. The baked goods by Man Made are lush. So flavoured. The food portions are not too big for their price. And they can be hit or miss on value. The menu always changes which is nice to sample new things. The venue is community focussed with several tables that you would have to share with others. Power sockets are easily accessible. Wifi password is always up on the backboard. The venue is also slick and clean. You can buy coffee related items such as presses and beans. They also have events in here quite often.

Tabitha W.

Yelp
We stopped for breakfast at Established Coffee in Belfast where we shared a Lemon-Almond Cake, a pretty - but bitter and flavorless - latte, and a poached egg on toast. I would really love to see some flavored latte options - I'm very picky about my coffee lol.

Connor M.

Yelp
Some of the best coffee in Belfast, and great staff who are passionate about coffee. Also these guys are the first stockist in NI of Mast Brothers chocolate. Go in and ask the barista what coffee they recommend.

Stevie M.

Yelp
It has taken me a while to do a review of Established, I wanted my feelings to settle a little bit because too be honest it was love at first sight and I didn't want to get clouded by infatuation. Now that I am a little less love struck I feel I am ready to do a constructive review. Established's minimalist feels seems to attract hipsters like a moth to a flame or a beard to a lumberjack shirt. The light airy feel of makes it a perfect place to work or meet - there's almost a chilled, hushed atmosphere with customers talking under their breath out of politeness for other clientele. The coffee is unrivaled in Belfast with the guys at Established paying special attention to blends and brews. I would recommend a flat white with a glass of chilled water (you can find this at the end of the counter) - the water counteracts the slight twinge of bitterness in the coffee. This is coffee perfection in my eyes. Established also offer some delightful food to stave your mid morning hunger - I had a great poached egg on wheaten bread (adding bacon for £1.30 - you'd have to be mad not to go for this). I'll keep it simple - I love this place - despite it's popularity it never seems to be too busy - hopefully it stays that way so I can continue to enjoy Establisheds' perfect ambiance.

Yelp
We were looking for an independent coffeeshop, and this one fit the bill exactly. Right behind St Anne's cathedral. It was just busy enough on a Sunday afternoon that we had to linger a bit to decide about seating: should we ask a couple to move a seat over to we could put two together? Should we fetch a chair from the other side of the room to bring to the communal table? Let do that... oh, a table just freed up. Should we move to there? (we didn't) The drinks were great. If I'd been less full from my large late breakfast, I would've tried some of the baked goods. Only downside is that it's quite loud, between the standard coffee machine noises, the people talking, and the music. They're going for the industrial coffeeshop rather than the chill, laid back style.

Nuno L.

Yelp
It's not the usual place in Belfast, it's so clean, minimalist and cosy. As I would expect because as soon as you enter the Cathedral Quarter you have the feeling that you left Belfast and you are in another place. The coffee could not be better. Is good, really really good, it's from 3FE in Dublin. I always ask for a cappuccino and an apple and cinnamon scone to match but there is quite a lot of options and the type of coffee changes regularly so it's impossible to get bored. What to say about the staff? Nothing but the best. They are amazing and super friendly. My favourite spot in the city.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Established Coffee for a very long time but couldn't as it was always packed any time I've passed it. I did get a chance to call in yesterday on a late Saturday afternoon at about 4.30pm, the only time I've actually seen free seats inside. Overall it's a great coffee shop which I'd sum up like this: Pros: ~ Visually beautiful bright space ~ Very fine tasting coffee ~ Delightful customer service ~ Tasty scrumptious cakes ~ Lots of sockets for phone/laptop charging ~ Free wifi Cons: ~ Can be super busy and difficult to get a seat in ~ No dairy free milk options such as soya, almond or coconut milks ~ No napkins given out (to anyone by the looks if things when I glanced around) ~ Is quite expensive

Yelp
Being from brooklyn, New York, you could call us coffee snobs . Walking into established coffee, we were happy campers when we heard we can have our coffee made in various methods (filter, aeropress, Chemex)! They use coffee roasted by third floor expresso from Dublin. There is a huge (I mean immense) communal table with plenty of computer plugs. Coffees were made well. I drank my coffee black because it just didn't need any sugar or soy milk.

F C.

Yelp
One of my most favourite coffee shops in Belfast! The coffee is always beautifully made, the food is delicious and the place is really nice and charming with the minimal interior inviting all the coffee lovers in. Today I tried their Granola with yoghurt and fruit compote, and i wasnt disappointed, it has a hint of spices but the sweetness is perfectly balanced with the topping, and goes really well with my cappuccino made with sweet Brazilian beans. No more words needed, everyone has to try this place! Thanks Established! Made my morning!

Amanda R.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious food and coffee! Their iced latte was perfect on a sunny summer day and their brunch options all sounded amazing. My friend and I enjoyed the casual atmosphere and the friendly staff. I would definitely return!

C.J. M.

Yelp
Just had the Pinto Bean and Baked Squash salad with a big pot of green tea...just perfect. Now ready to tackle the gym next door and throw my weights around. Must bring Ben next time...I wonder if they will let him in...well he has a full beard and lots of indigenous, wheaten charm.

Vivek T.

Yelp
We stopped here for a coffee yesterday and were spoiled for choice. The cafe is tall ceilinged and behind the service area are shelves stacked with their own labelled blends from Dublin. We all had Americanos and the roast was mild and mellow with no after taste. A great cuppa.

Dan C.

Yelp
Excellent coffee and very attentive staff. The food was excellent and they offered delicious choices in bread's and other sides. Had the filtered coffee, egg and avocado with sourdough toast. Great job!

Harry O.

Yelp
Ryan McDonald "Reyt call this by the way" 12.06.17 I ate the open sandwich which was outrageously nice. Poached eggs with bacon looked really good too. To drink, flat white, not the best I've ever had but pretty nice.

Bethany N.

Yelp
Visiting from FL and was recommended to this coffee shop. Authentic coffee and great atmosphere! The workers are nice and attentive. Great time!

Tom C.

Yelp
Hipster café - lots of beards & macs present good coffee though!

Rob J.

Yelp
If I had a list of things I'm looking for in a coffee shop -- particularly one that looks like they know what they're doing -- this place would meet and exceed all the requirements. I'm honestly in awe. The service was impeccable. Cheerful and knowledgeable, all the way around the bar. I ordered espresso and a cap and was beyond impressed... Going back for a pour over tomorrow just so I can watch them use the Über Boiler. Never seen one in person and I'm coveting in a bad way. To the staff of Established... Thank you. You've refreshed my love of coffee. I think your wee shop could easily beat out most of what we have in Los Angeles. Thanks for your dedication to the craft of coffee.

Ryan K.

Yelp
Visited Established Coffee yesterday and was impressed. Decent coffee and nice snacks within a cool atmosphere! Easy to get to - within the Cathedral Quarter - and would definitely recommend!

Jules S.

Yelp
If you haven't been in Established maybe you've seen it on TV, as it recently featured in BBC creep-fest, The Fall. It deserves it's own show. Set on a cobbled corner just beside the MAC, Established is hipster coffee heaven. The bearded cool brigade are often camped out here with their cold-pressed coffees and Mac book pros enjoying the free wifi, but do not be intimidated. The staff are warm and friendly, and very happy to talk you through the myriad of choices they have for your caffeine fix, so much so I almost feel embarrassed to ask for a latte! Even though coffee is their passion, you should also check out their soups- they are like a hug in a bowl, perfect if you are hiding from work.

Fiona S.

Yelp
This is the best coffee house in Belfast! Great, minimal layout and the food and coffee are fantastic. The owner knows his coffee! You can buy different bags to take away that they will ground for free.

Dirkjan B.

Yelp
I've had a great lunch, superb coffee and excellent cake here. The baristi are very nice and informative about the products. Enjoyed it all the way.

James D.

Yelp
Never heard of this place before and stumbled across it on my daily Yelping looking for something new. Cool little coffee shop. Great use of space and the second I saw 3FE coffee in the window I knew this place was going to be legit. Definitely a cool place and great to see more places like this in Belfast. If I were to have any issue (and this is just me being devils advocate) with my visit was that the latte art on my coffee was laughable bad... For such a serious looking coffee shop I was so surprised it was so bad but hey it didnt change the taste of the coffee!!

Outlaw R.

Yelp
Just as they opened Saturday morning we stopped in for a fresh tea and coffee. I got the tea and my friends had the coffee made to order. We all left with a favorable opinion of the place and the product and the staff was very friendly and provided a few recommendations on sites/pubs for later in the day.

Harry M.

Yelp
Having lived in London for 5 years, I've become accustomed to top notch coffee vendors wherever I go. I was pleasantly surprised with Established's offerings last week when on a weekend trip home. The Hipster scene has well and truly engulfed Belfast, with great restaurants, bars and coffee shops. Established has a friendly vibe set within a raw but homely environment. I ordered a Long Black and a Lemon San Pelly G as the kids call it. All for well under £5 and served with a smile. I was impressed with the knowledge and the skills of the attenting barista. The cakes and tray bakes looked appetising and delicious but I was stuffed from lunch! My friend got a Flat White with superb coffee art, whilst my Long Black was rich and moreish. I will no doubt return next week to sample the brownies!

Rosanna C.

Yelp
Before you even walk in the door this place oozes a certain coolness. Industrial design, exposed concrete and very minimilaist, it reminded me of a Melbourne cafe but without any pretension. It definitely appears to be targeting an ever growing market of nomadic workers... huge table spaces, sockets for every seat, wifi and a chilled out atmosphere, mean that you can work from here without any intrusions. The presentation of the coffee is something special... Miniature glass jugs and larger karafe's for groups add an artisan quality to the establishment. The drinks selection is decent and there were a small but delicious looking array of baked goods (GF options available too). Definitely check this spot out, especially of you have a spot of writing to do or are in need of a change from your norm.

Lisa B.

Yelp
Love love love this place, being a bit of a coffee snob this is my idea of heaven. It ticks all the boxes. Staff were helpful and the coffee was delicious. All the food I have had there has been amazing.

Anne M.

Yelp
Went to Established Coffee for breakfast on a Sunday morning. At the time we arrived (shortly after they opened) it was not very busy. We had breakfast which consisted of poached egg sandwiches and a lemon poppy seed yeast roll. Both were amazing! We also had aeropress coffee with a shot of espresso and a latte, both were smooth and rich with no bitter aftertaste. The atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. It appeared that there were plenty of regulars that were there working or visiting. By the time we left there was not an empty table in the place and a line at the register. While there we used the free Wifi without issue. A perfect spot to visit in Belfast!

Amy G.

Yelp
I'm not a coffee connoisseur and thus probably not worthy of the hipster minimally decorated clean-looking cafe that is Established, but I had an Americano here and it was a good balance of bitterness and roasty-ness (these are coffee words, right?). It didn't leave a bad aftertaste in my mouth that other coffees do.

Laura C.

Yelp
Hands down the best place in Belfast to get a coffee! Whether it's chemed, aeropress or just a standard cup of joe you're looking for, this is the place. Helpful, passionate and knowledgable staff and a clean, modern (if a little hipster) environment for working, relaxing or catching up with friends.

Jessica B.

Yelp
Open, welcoming space, with cool, airy colours. Food looked/smelled lovely, and there was a gluten free cake option when I went, which was nice to see. The staff were really bright and friendly, and most importantly the coffee was gorgeous. No bitterness to it at all - just really smooth and yummy - and served in a slightly quirky way that gave the whole experience a unique edge. Go!

I H.

Yelp
Fantastic food and coffee! Loved it. Iced Latte was smooth and flavorful and it's a wonderful environment and location.

Pip S.

Yelp
Best coffee in Belfast without a doubt. Lunches and cakes are also excellent. It is also a great place to pull out a laptop and be productive if you've been hit with cabin fever in the house. No milk alternatives but the coffee so good you don't need any.

Rachel S.

Yelp
Best coffee in Belfast!! A welcome addition to Belfast and I love what I learn every time I visit from their incredibly helpful staff.Chocolate and coffee bean cake is amazing along with ever changing new coffee blends. Go visit!!

Finnegan W.

Yelp
Excellent! I had the weekly special of the honey cardamom cortado two days in a row. Food is also great

Elle E.

Yelp
This place makes me laugh and cringe at the same time. It's so pretentious and yet it's not at all what the owners probably think it is or want it to be. I don't like being lectured for 5 minutes prior to getting my coffee, of which I'm told does not include a latte or cappuccino etc as they want their customers to 'taste real coffee' or some pretentious bullsh!t like that. I just don't need or want to be listening to this stuff when I'm taking a quick coffee break. Oh and the tray bakes are so pretentious they, rounded up, cost about £4 each. Homemade they may be, but that that is daylight robbery!
