3 Best Day Trips from Buenos Aires | Condé Nast Traveler

"Motoring down the extensive drive, fields and trees occupying the flat land, it appears this will truly be a rural retreat—and a place to recharge yourself. At the colonial mansion turned boutique hotel, guests can hack across the estancia, go trekking, take a carriage ride, go bird-spotting, or sunbathe by the swimming pool." - Sorrel Moseley-Williams

Wow! Very luxurious, food incredible, a fabulous experience. This is not a cheap option but it was a fabulous choice to relax and enjoy amazing hospitality. ||Friendly and attentive staff, incredible food (lunch grill was amazing) with barbecue, afternoon tea and formal evening meal where you share tables and stories with other guests from around the world. A turn down service, lots of activities (we took a trip to the local town), swimming pool and friendly dog. Everything was done very well.||Probably the best hotel I have ever stayed in.

A memorable hotel with charming staff. The rooms are simple, but comfortable. We were given a second room free of charge for our daughter as the Estancia was nearly empty. Our daughter having demonstrated her ability to ride was on a horse several times a day - it was "the best place I've ever stayed". The asado lunch is fantastic, with small pieces of different meats, not great big hunks of meat that can be off-putting. It is a bit off the beaten track, we arrived after heavy rains and the track to the Estancia was very muddy and heavily rutted, but the Estancia staff met us at the high road with 4x4s|High recommended !

We spent a memorable day at the Estancia La Bamba de Areco. We mainly were there to have a look around have lunch and experience the "horse whisperer" both a calming and enlightening display of horse and gaucho. Spellbinding |On arrival were shown around the bedrooms and communal areas were were very luxurious well it is a Relais Chateux.Spectaclurar views and scenery whilst we waited for lunch to be served and were able to look in on the food being prepared. Lunch was a typical Argentinian asado with all sorts of meats sausages and chorizo and blood pudding. Not for the faint hearted but definitely for any food lover.|Potatoes, salads and vegetable options in abundance. It just kept coming with eventually the desert being served which was crepes seared with an branding iron and ice cream.|Time to relax whilst others rode horses whilst taking in the mesmeric countrside.|Afternoon tea was offered but unfortunately very few takers especially fro. those re overing from the excess of the asado lunch.|Bread, fantastic Malbec reds other beverages flowed liberally during the meal.We ate on a large table in a group of twelve added to it bring a memorable occasion. Unlike myself who paid the consequences come prepared and libslly apply insect repellant.Ouch!|Many thanks to the team at Estancia La Bamba for making this a memorable day. We could most definitely return and has gone back on our bucket list. |Fernando Nieto travelling around Argentina visiting from London

La Bamba is like being a house guest at a rich polo playing friend’s country house, which of course you basically are. The estancia is original and you really feel like your part of a house party, eating together in a variety of locations, from beautiful formal dining room to cool outdoor kitchen area and an amazingly decorated barn with a fire and comfy sofa and an array of beautiful decorations all themed as expected in such a place.||All the staff are amazing and very warm and welcoming, get ready to be fed at every opportunity, breakfast with a extensive selection to cater to everyone’s tastes, lunch consists of wonderful salads and never ending barbecued meats, which are continually offered until you are ready to burst, along with wine and more wine.|Dinner is more formal where you can choose starters, mains and desserts from today’s menu. Again more wines, just ask and you can have any drinks you want. Just when you think you are recovering the staff will find you and tempt you with empanadas or other delicious nibbles.||We are both very novice horse riders, but enjoyed rides each day tailored to what you want and when you want it, we opted for a leisurely ride the beautiful grounds and surrounding fields. |We also were able to watch a polo match and sit with drinks while riders with unfathomable skills on beautiful polo ponies made riding look so effortless and hitting a ball at speed with precision totally natural, when you say they are born to it, it’s just true.||La Bamba, a place to get a real feel of hospitality and life in a working Argentine estancia. |Thank La Bamba, I dream to return.

Just did a day trip here at the end of our holiday.|we had lovely time as only 2 hotel guests staying at time , who were good to talk to over lunch. We did a gentle horse ride (walk as i had not been on a horse for 50 years and a bit nervous ! ) but done well which left me feeling i wanted to go faster - so success |A delicious quality lunch with wines which just kept on going |a short horse whisperer demonstration - unbelievable .|Then a relaxing hour by the pool as the food and wine took effect.|We could have had afternoon tea but had to get back to BA for flights

We stayed for 3 nights. Food and service was outstanding. The Gauchos were very entertaining. Such a pleasant change from staying in hotels, felt more like staying in somebody's house. We would highly recommend a short stay at La Bamba.

My wife and I recently visited La Bamba de Areco on our honeymoon and it was the highlight of our trip. From the moment we arrived Guillermo, the General Manager, Camilla and Mikayla, the hosts, and the rest of the staff were polite, attentive, friendly, and went out of their way to ensure our stay was as enjoyable as possible. Every meal was perfectly crafted and delicious down to the wine pairings. The communal dining with all guests together was a welcome surprise as we were able to meet and spend time with guests that we may not have otherwise interacted with. In addition to the gastronomy, the many activities guests can choose from provide a wide array of unique and entertaining options to fill your day. We went on multiple horseback rides, rode around the grounds in a horse-drawn carriage, and played lawn bowling on the beautiful front grounds. If you're looking for relaxing activities, the pool and afternoon tea were two of our favorites to wind down. The twice daily housekeeping service kept our cozy room in perfect order the entire stay. The location ~100 - 120 minutes outside of Buenos Aires makes the estancia a bit time consuming to get to but a very easy concession for the overall experience.

Call me shallow but I did enjoy being met at the end of the drive by a Gaucho on horseback and the staff ready with cool towels. This was our first stop on a tour of Argentina and did not disappoint. I couldn't think of any where better to recover from a long journey from the UK.|The place is designed exquisitely inside and out. Owned by a wealthy Frenchman with his own Polo team and it shows. They have won The Cowdrey Cup several times. I agree with a previous review that wifi is not available throughout, however I can't help think it makes a stay better for this. Bedrooms are beautiful with air con ( not every Estancia has this ) which was very welcome as Argentina was experiencing a heatwave when we were there and it was necessary to keep windows shut. Yes we did experience some mosquitos, there is repellant everywhere but if you are susceptible do bring your own with deet. Meals are taken together something I would normally avoid like the plague but it somehow worked, we met some lovely interesting people. Everything is included which is fabulous don't worry no wristbands! Lunch is served Asado style with great salads and meat. Do try the sweetbreads. lunch finishes with a Dulce de leche pancake, on my third day I couldn't have eaten another one so had fabulous ice cream instead. The Argentinians have a very sweet tooth. Dinner is served in one sitting in the main house at approx 8pm. Breakfast on the terrace of another building as and when you would like. This was delicious. I can only describe it as like being at a very smart country house party weekend. We did ride which was lovely however, I have ridden most of my life and did find the ponies a bit slow, I wonder if it would be possible to have a couple of different level of rides, hats, chaps are provided, lead by a charming Gaucho. One morning we went for a walk and we were accompanied by the two Estancia dogs who knew the route round the river then deposited us back to where we started! I do hope they are on the payroll. The horse show is beautiful. | The grounds are immaculate. The pool area well looked after, with yet more food in the way of afternoon tea.|We also had a fabulous empanada lesson in the hotel kitchen.|Our stay was three full days and two nights which was probably about right if part of a longer trip.|My last words really are for the staff, without exception professional but extremely welcoming and fun, they went above and beyond for us, helping with a home issue.|I cant recommend this place enough.
