Estancia Los Chulengos

A truly magical stay in the Andes. Ana and Manuela were exceptional hosts and genuinely wonderful people, from the moment we began the drive up to the property to our heartfelt goodbye. The setting is breathtaking, with unparalleled views of the Andes, and the horses add a dreamy, storybook quality to the landscape.||The accommodations are rustic yet comfortable. I stayed in a small room behind the kitchen, but the bed was cozy and the shower had excellent water pressure. Spending time in the main house by the fire, sipping my own French press coffee while my sneakers warmed nearby, was pure perfection.||The alfresco asado lunch was outstanding—every cut of meat cooked flawlessly, paired with delicious salads and vegetables. The wine flowed generously and was excellent, including bottles from Manuela’s husband’s vineyard. Dessert was unforgettable: a Receta Isla Flotante (meringue with dulce de leche), along with Malbec-poached pears in a Malbec wine sauce, both absolutely incredible. Even a “lighter” chicken dinner was just as memorable.||There’s no need to bring your own hat or poncho to feel truly gaucho—there are plenty to borrow on site. This was an unforgettable experience and an absolute must-do.

This estancia is a truly bucket-list–worthy experience, probably one of the best stays of my life. My husband and I were lucky enough to celebrate our five-year anniversary here for one night, and we were completely in awe. As the only guests, the attention to detail and level of service were exceptional. When we arrived, Angel was already preparing our asado while our host set up a table outdoors with a stunning view of the mountains — it was absolutely breathtaking. From there, we rode horses through the Andes alongside all the ranch dogs, learned how to make empanadas mendocinas, and ended the night with a romantic dinner in our casita by a roaring fire. The cook Lucia is incredible! We had some of our favorite bites in Mendoza - I’ll dream of her Malbec poached pears forever. If you want magic, you’ll find it here in the mountains at Los Chulengos.

Estância Los Chulengos was unforgettable! The traditional gaucho day with my family felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The property is breathtaking, the house is cozy and beautiful, and the whole atmosphere strikes the perfect balance of rustic luxury and authenticity. Manuela and Ana thought of every detail. It’s idyllic, peaceful, and absolutely worth the trip.

We stayed here last January and dream about coming back on a daily basis. HEAVEN. It is hard to adequately describe somewhere so unique, so memorable and so incredibly special. You feel as you are the most VIP guests at a secret, exclusive getaway in the Andes, with such personal, 5-star but relaxed attention. Our horseback ride was life changing, as is the time you spend with the hosts. The food and wine is out of this world - and plentiful, you won't have to eat for days! I know we will get back, Argentina in general has a special place in our hearts, and the time our family spent at Los Chulengos stays with us always. We travel all over the world (our 3 year old has been to 20+ countries!) so can say with certainty, you will not regret making this a part of your journey :)

I felt like I was in a dream. This place is magical. The family that owns are amazing. I really enjoyed watching the preparation of the food on the barbecue and in the huge outdoor oven. We made empanadas and all the food was fantastic. The food never stopped coming. I fell very lucky to have stayed here.

Staying at Los Chulengos was an unforgettable experience! I visited as part of a Wild Terrains group trip and was blown away by the warmth, hospitality, and aesthetic of this estancia. The family has a rich history connected to the land, and their genuine passion for this place really came through as they introduced us to their pastimes and traditions. From riding horses together to preparing empanadas and enjoying asado, it was wonderful to feel so welcomed and at home at the estancia. I would love to return one day and spend more time!

The Palma family, who has cared for this land for over 200 years, welcomed us with open arms, treating us like family from the moment we arrived.||The experience was an authentic blend of hospitality and tradition. We enjoyed a feast of homemade and locally sourced dishes, from succulent asado to Mendocino wine and delicate sweets that perfectly rounded out the meal. Every bite reflected the care and love the Palmas pour into their estate.||The highlight of the day was the unparalleled horseback riding experience. Riding through the valleys and up the mountains on their well-trained, beautiful horses was unforgettable. Each stop along the trail revealed stunning vistas of the Andes and serene sounds of a running creek below, creating an atmosphere of pure tranquility.||If you’re looking for an authentic and heartwarming experience in Argentina, I cannot recommend Los Chulengos enough. This was more than just a day trip—it was a journey into the soul of Argentina’s countryside. My family and I are deeply grateful to the Palma family for sharing their incredible land and heritage with us.
