Reno’s Food Scene Is on a Winning Streak

"On the buzzy outdoor patio at Estella, the taqueria at the Jesse Hotel, patrons at picnic tables sip mezcal margaritas alongside plates of beer-battered lobster tail tacos. Co-owner Piper Stremmel was born and raised in Reno and, after stints in London and Shanghai, moved back to the city with her husband Chris Reilly." - Regan Stephens

estella is currently closed and changed to a restaurant called jessy, we only found out when we arrive haha still, this place serves quite good greek food with amazing level cocktail! the kofta is very juicy ❤️ price is quite reasonable, interior is classy with lush tropical plant strongly recommend ❤️

The food was delicious. This was the most interesting Gyro I have ever had in a platter. I went here because of the review and recommendation for good Mexican food. But April 2025 the Estella’s had closed.

Google
Great food, super friendly service, beautiful courtyard, and some amazing hand crafted cocktails. I tried two of the bartender's spontaneous creations and both drinks were delicious. Definitely looking forward to going back.

Estella is now Estella at the Jesse - Mediterranean. They no longer offer Mexican food. We visited for a late lunch, and received overpriced bar food with the absolute bare minimum service for a not-restaurant. The deli meat on my gyro platter came out charred bacon-bits crispy. My wife's Mediterranean Bowl had greasy dark chicken with lots of fat. This was our second and last visit.

Emily Ladouceur

Google
I was disappointed. As a date night treat, I suggested the Estella because my husband enjoys Mediterranean food. I ordered the Mediterranean bowl with chicken. The meat was dark meat, which I wasn't expecting. My husband's lamb was strangely crispy. The service was not bad but not great.

Google
I have to begin by expressing my discontent that Estella changed ownership and no longer serves Mexican food. The tacos here were awesome and I really can’t understand why new ownership decided to change the concept completely while operating under the same name. It was certainly confusing to sit down and see that the menu was now Mediterranean. I understand that everything is change, but this one just didn’t make sense. Furthermore, it’s weird to me that they changed the food menu completely, but kept the bar menu the same, maintaining focus on margaritas and other Mexican style drinks. A side note on service…I’m kinda over this type of concept where you come into a place and are unsure if you are getting table service or have to order for yourself at the bar. They mention on the menu very small at the bottom that a server will come, but no one in the room really makes that clear…it would be nice if some one would warmly greet you, show you to a table, and explain how the service works. In my opinion, this is even more important since you changed the whole concept and regular customers may be unfamiliar with the new operation. After not receiving much attention and unsure of how to proceed, I went up to the bar to place my order only to be told that someone would come to the table. The server came over promptly after that and was cordial, but really they need to commit more clearly to table service or not…especially since a tip reflective of proper service is expected. Also, if this is the case then why do I need to get my own water for the table. Then when the food comes out and we don’t have cutleries I have to get up again to ask because clearly no one is paying attention to these basic elements of proper service. Then the food…which honestly was mid. The dolmas were not good…rice under cooked and grape leaves too hard and tough to chew. The rest of the food was serviceable, but nothing special really. Overall, the experience was underwhelming and exacerbated by the fact that this establishment used to be one of our favorite places in town for bomb taco and super heady cocktails in a nice atmosphere.

Google
Really great spot in Reno for high end tacos and Mexican food. The ingredients are all great quality, the tortillas are amazing, soft and the salsas are delicious and well paired with the different types of taco. The Al pastor was delicious as was the beef brisket taco. Great for a sunny day out on the patio, we rocked up at 5:30pm on a Friday and got a table without a reservation.

Troy Walker

Google
They don't serve tacos anymore. It was my favorite restaurant in Reno, now it's gone. Why would you take a menu and cuisine that was phenomenal and drawing in good business and change it? What a waste.

Daylana B.

Yelp
Bartender and server Noah was amazing and catered to my needs! So friendly. The chef, Soren, hand delivered the food to our table and made the atmosphere very welcoming and inviting. Food was amazing.

Yelp
Came here recently with one of my best friends and I would describe this place as the best upscale street style tacos in Reno! The mushroom tacos were my favorite! They had slices of fruit in the tacos that complimented the meat well! They have ceiling to floor windows that create a sense of city vibes in downtown Reno. I will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Went to try this place when my dad was in town and noticed how yummy the pictures of the food looked! When we got to the restaurant we couldn't figure out where the entrance is. Turns out it's inside "The J". The service was mediocre. Every server/waiter we had was very, very awkward. I got the 50/50 margarita and it tasted like a rubber tire (seriously). The salsas were okay, bean dip was good, guacamole was just a mashed avocado with nothing mixed in like probably not even salt or pepper. The fish taco was the only taco I enjoyed. The carnitas was okay, I like how crisp it was fried. My dad liked both the al pastor and chicken taco. My boyfriend got the chicken enchiladas and he said "weird design of enchiladas and wasn't sure how to eat it, I would call it more of a taco with sauce drizzled on it". Overall I don't think I will ever come back. I was expecting more based on other yelp reviews.

Yelp
Love Estella! Their tacos are divine and their cocktails are crafted well with interesting flavors and twists. I love the vibe of the bar. It's a beautiful space adorned with luscious plants and beautiful design touches. Service is great even when they are busy. If you go in the summer, they have the best patio out back with comfy seating!
google avatar

Yelp
Fantastic service, great tasting food, the wife and I were very happy with our experience tonight. While it was extremely busy, the servers and bartenders were so speedy we hardly even noticed. Food came out in a reasonable time as well. We will be back.

Yelp
Loved their carnitas taco, the steak and the fish. Pass on the mushroom taco. They also have a private parking lot, but you gotta park on the street if it's full.

Yelp
The place is really good. Pricey, but worth a try. Great tapas, for sure. The Mexican ice cream seems to be homemade for their sauce and has seeds. I thought it was ok, but I'm notninto Mexican hot chocolate. Just wanted to try the ice cream to see what it would be. The corn was good, and you get a hefty serving for the chips and salsa. Good vibe in the winter to hang out with some friends for sure! Staff was super friendly. They were pretty busy still on a Sunday, so just know they are always busy. The estella kitchen is not open for the public, so you enter into the hotel bar and order there. They do have outdoor seating. But I don't think it's open during the winter. Summertime would he nice. Parking is small, so be ready to park on the street. There seems to be plenty of street parking. Just be careful at night as always.

Yelp
The street tacos here are just perfect. You walk up and order what you want and they bring it to you as you sit out under the pergola. Everything here is tasty and the salsas are great. A very friendly staff makes the experience so fun. I love the ambiance. You get a great view of the Reno city scape but you feel like you're in a very special serene spot. Just great all around!

Yelp
Tacos and drinks were amazing! We ate in the bar which is technically The Jesse Bar. Employees were really nice and helpful.

Yelp
Food is decent. But expensive. Small portions for prove. You bus your own tables and grab your own water but they definitely still ask for tips. I don't support that.

Yelp
Haven't been to Estella in a while so thought we would check it out again! The patio is huge which we loved and is seat yourself. We tried fish taco of the day, chips and salsa, elote, and an Al pastor taco. I definitely appreciated the hand made tortillas! Everything was good but 4 stars for the size of the taco was pretty small and the corn was slightly dry. Overall a good food and service from both Estella and the Jesse! .......the fish taco did say "chipotle crema" but it was spicy AF
google avatar

Elisa A.

Yelp
One of my favorite places in Reno! My husband and I always order the corn because it's very good. My personal favorite tacos are tacos al pastor but tacos de carnitas are pretty good too. I love they use hand made tortillas for their tacos. Place is modern and they always have good music. I'm Mexican and when I miss my country this is the perfect place to go

Yelp
5 stars for the food, the vibe of the restaurant, and the selection of amazing cocktails and mezcal! Like holy moly wow! The tortillas are home made and yum! We got the carnitas, the veggie, pastor, and vampiro and elote and it was all amazing. The red salsa they have is next level. Chipotle and good on everything!!! The green on the brisket and veggie has a kick but was equally delish. That food was just so darn delicious and I would totally go back! For that reason. Now for my 4 stars... we sat at the bar. the service started out strong. But then puttered out along the way. Thankfully maybe the manager, a female, noticed and asked if we were all good. And we definitely needed some water. She was quick and still 5 stars. Now the decline... post meal we sat for about 15-20 minutes completely finished with plates and napkins stacked. 3 people came up to my right and were addressed immediately looking for their tabs to close out. Finally we were noticed again by the lady and not one of the bartenders. She checked us out and got us a box. So 5 stars for her. 4 stars otherwise service wise. Kind of a bummer considering this was 5 stars all the way up until that point. It's a Saturday, yes they are busy, but not in the weeds. As my wife and I come from service industry. As they were able to help the three people who stood next to us but breezed by us. I'll come back and hope for better next round just because the food is that good.

Yelp
We were greeted as we entered. We ordered a fish taco and Al pastor taco. The pastor was Smokey in a good way. The fish taco had a little heat.

Yelp
Order at the hotel bar - get a # to take to your table.Service was quick and the taco is delicious but I did take one star off for price - $8 for a one fish taco.

Yelp
Here again and still love it! The ambiance, music, food, drinks and the employees are all amazing! The food is delicious especially the carnita tacos!

Yelp
Came to Estella on a tuesday. We were a little confused on where to go to order food as there really isn't any signs pointing you in any direction. The patio area is super cute though! However, if its not nice enough to sit outside there is little room for seating elsewhere and i can see how it could get cramped inside the Jesse. When we found the building in the back to order from staff was friendly. We ordered chips and guac, elote, 2 carnita tacos, a fish of the day (red snapper), and a smoked oyster mushroom taco. First thing we noticed was how small the guac container was compared to the amount of chips served. Also the tacos themselves were quite small and the size of the tortilla seemed too small for the amount of filling on it. Everything tasted good though I will say some of the items felt like they were a little overpowered some of the flavors with spice(i do not handle spicy too well). So a warning/notice on items that have an extra kick on the menu would have been nice. Overall, the margaritas were very good and the food was okay. But I'd probably just come back for drinks & small bites vs. a full meal due to the size of items and price. We had left still a little hungry after spending $70 for 2 people.

Yelp
We sought out Estella for a date night dinner recently, but overall were left a little confused and unimpressed by the whole experience. It started out a sunny day, but the wind picked up and cooled the temp down. WAY down. We headed to what we *thought* was Estella, but found an empty building beside an empty courtyard. To be fair, the outdoor courtyard is GORGEOUS! Probable one of the prettiest oudoor spaces for dining we've come across in the past few years. But...those cold temps meant everything was moved inside, said a sassy pink-haired server. What she meant was, *moved inside The Jesse*, a edge-of-Midtown uppity bar that was packed and BLARING bad live music. We were lucky to grab a 2-top open, but the place is cramped. We were practically rubbing elbows with the people next to us, and narrowly dodged sitting next to a mom with 2 littles...wha?!?! In a loud bar? M'kay, mom, maybe not the greatest choice for kids' dinner? I know this is Midtown hipster norm, but you don't get service here. You have to place your order at the bar, *leave your card with the bartender like you've opened a tab!* and take a number. "Open seating" is code for "you are your own server". The move indoors meant the mediocre music volume was 3x as loud as it needed to be, so good luck conversing with the person across from you. You'd think they'd adjust the volume for the acoustics of the room, but you'd be wrong. The menu is OK but borders on pretentious. Small tacos for $6/ea up to $12/taco! and Vegas prices on drinks, $15/ea. At the end of your meal, you have to go collect your check and pay at the bar. And a tip? You bet they're asking! For what, I'm not sure! No one bothers to check in and see if you want anything else! This place is definitely not our vibe, and at almost $90 for chips & salsa, some tiny tacos & 2 drinks, we'd likely go just about anywhere else next time for tacos. Midtown has just become an overpriced cash-grab IMO. Vegas prices with SF environment! For that price, it would be nice to actually get some level of service and not have to avoid stepping over homeless to get into the place and wondering if your car gets broken into. Oh, and the "hotel" above The Jesse has rates of just the fabulously low price $189/ni for 2ppl midweek for TINY old rooms!!! This place is MADNESS!!!

Yelp
My husband and I have been planning to try Estella's for quite sometime. We finally made it on an early Sunday evening. It's located in The Jesse, a reinvented boutique hotel. The surrounding neighborhood is a bit rough but we were immediately transformed to an inviting and hip space upon entering, beginning with the courtyard. Food and drinks are ordered at the bar and then brought to your table. My husband decided on a shrimp and a lobster taco. I had the lobster taco as well as a Veggie enchilada. We also ordered chips and bean dip which also came with red and green salsa. Both kinds of seafood tacos were tasty and the batter was light and airy. I was a bit disappointed in the veggie enchilada, however, I didn't take notice of any potato or onion per se but the earthy-ness of the mushroom was apparent. I felt the sauce was bland. The chips were lightly coarse and crispy, which is good but both salsas were absent of any kind of heat. This is good for my husband but I like a bit of bite. We both felt that the meal was mostly enjoyable and warrants a return visit to explore the menu some more.

Yelp
It was a little hard to find the place but it is all connected and in one, so Jesse's is also Estella. They have an outdoor and an indoor seating area. You order your food at the bar and they will bring the food to you. The food was amazing, my favorite was the carne guisada. I sat in the indoor seating and it was quiet and the music was very nice. Good for a romantic outing or a group hang out spot. I would highly go back again. The staff was amazing and super nice!

Yelp
Horchata pie 1000/10, I'm obsessed! It is sweet, and creamy, and chilled. My #1 sweet craving right now! The atmosphere is amazing, I love hanging out at the Jesse. The outside patio is beautiful, inside is nice and cool. The bar tenders are super friendly and help you order what's best. I had them 'make me something' with Gin, asked for citrus and less sweet, and got this beautiful purple cocktail! Highly recommend this place for happy hour, afternoon tacos, or dessert!
google avatar

Yelp
Wowowow. Was a little confused about the entrance to this place, but once we learned to order at Jessie's bar and sit on the patio we were right at home. The food was amazing -- took me right back to Mexico City. Carne asada and chicken tacos were quite literally bursting with flavor and fillings. We also had the guacamole and salsas, both of which were delicious. Would definitely come back for a chill, laid-back vibe and meal.

Yelp
Came here for the second time. The food was tasty. Love the mushroom taco, al pastor taco and the fish taco. They ran out of some beef and shrimp when we ordered (Sunday evening), otherwise I could have told you more about those flavors. The taco shells were thick and fulfilling. The elote was flavorful. The chips were okay. The sauce was lacking flavor. The taco here is on the expensive side. The price you see on the menu is for one taco so keep that in mind. The service here is more like self-service. You order food and drinks at the bar and servers don't really check on you after they deliver your order. There is water that you can grab and take to your table. Our friend was waiting for her ice cream order for the entire night and we checked with the bartender twice. Eventually we got the ice cream. Probably because we had a bigger group, they messed up my order but gave me one extra taco that I didn't order for free. This place is a hotel and restaurant combo. The bar and patio are both cute. In summer time, it would be nice to sit outside.

Yelp
Complete surprise finding this gem! Located inside the Jesse Hotel and Bar, Estella offers delicious street taco-sized offerings. The care that goes into the tacos is evident with every bite. Add one of Jesse's craft cocktails and you'll have a very enjoyable meal.

Felicia H.

Yelp
I would say overall a good experience. First off, it's in the 'the Jesse' and the entrance is around back. It was somewhat difficult to figure that out and I could see people through the window also struggling to find their way to the door. Some signage would be helpful. Bartenders were knowledgeable and friendly, mezcal/tequila selection is great. Food came out pretty quick. The green salsa with the chips was really good, red one needed maybe a touch of salt? Bean dip was pretty good but again maybe needed a pinch of salt. Loved the homemade tortillas Chicken taco was yummy Al pastor was honestly very tough. I'm used to them slicing it up a little smaller than the large tough chunks that came out. Chicken enchilada was probably the best flavor wise, it was non traditional and looked more like a large taco but still good. Again with the large chunks of meat though. Overall, a bit overpriced for the food flavors. But I loved the bar ambience and the cocktails. One big downside that is out of their control is that the neighborhood at night is sketch. Walking around the building trying to find the way in we had to walk passed a group of five homeless people doing dr*gs and it just made me a bit uneasy. But that's downtown I guess?

Yelp
Love this place and am a frequent customer. My previous review was only a first impression. The bartenders are both awesome! Owner is warm and accommodating! Relaxed vibe even though it gets crowded and loud. Lovely natural, modern decor. Tasty cocktails and bites. Large parties are often there which it is too small to accommodate. Not enough parking. Like how intimate it is, but would be cool if they could expand. This would change it though so I'll just keep visiting and be happy. Oh, and the Mezcal! Cheers!

Yelp
FOOD: - Chicken taco: 8/10 would get again, yummy salsa - Smoked mushroom taco: 100/10 MUST TRY life changing taco that makes the $6 per taco price worth it - Veggie enchilada: 7/10 would get again.. unfortunately it didn't have any oyster mushrooms inside even though it was listed that it did in the menu - Chicken enchilada: 8/10 would get again AMBIANCE: 10/10 Estella is connected to an inside bar called The Jesse where you can order fun cocktails. It could be really cute for dates and nighttime vibes. It was a really beautiful day so we decided to eat outside where they have plenty of seats and tables too. Overall, portions are quite small for the prices but the food did not disappoint.

Yelp
This restaurant is great for a first date or pre show dinner/snack. The drinks are delicious! We got the passion fruit margaritas along with a tequila shot that the bartender specialized according to our preferences. The food is top notch and I would order two tacos instead of - you'll want more!
google avatar

Tori Y.

Yelp
This food was incredible!!! And since it is winter time you order via The Jesse which truly elevated the experience!!! The lobster and mushroom mushrooms were delicious and a HUGE portion, and the bean tostada was even better- with a hint of a spicy kick. The salsa sampler was also incredible - the table favorite was the yellow corn salsa.

Yelp
Great food great service, I liked the outdoor seating rustic but elegant. Definitely going back!

Yelp
Went to Estella yesterday and I would say it's pretty good. The only thing I didn't like was the chips and salsa with guacamole. The chips were stale, salsa was ok, and guacamole was pretty flavorless. I love chips and salsa and these ones just weren't good. Everything else was pretty good, the elote was too spicy in my opinion and I like spicy food. Enchilada was great, and definitely cute vibes in the restaurant. I would go back but might not be my first choice.

Yelp
This is my favorite place in town!!! I love the food, drinks and the casual ambiance. My favorite drink: El Valiente. I really recommend it if you enjoy whiskey drinks similar to an old fashioned with more complex notes. However, I've had most of the drinks on the menu and I have never thought, "I'd never order that drink again." I'm guilty of being there almost every Friday or Saturday for the Carne Guisada tacos, they addicting! The bar is very inviting with warm lighting and plenty of indoor plants. Thank you to the bartenders and other staff who work there, who are always friendly and work so hard to serve us delicious food and drinks. Your work matters and when I come to the Jesse at the end of a bad day, know that the delicious drink you served me becomes the highlight of my day! My only recommendation would be to switch up the music more often, seems like it's heavy focused in Spanish music, but it'd be nice to hear something else every now and then. Maybe invest a little more time in switching up the playlist ;) I'm Mexican, but it doesn't mean I'm a fan of Peso Pluma, nor I want to listen to him while I eat my tacos lol

Yelp
Super fun, super hip - I was definately the oldest person in the room :) Tacos were amazing and the drinks to die for. Can't wait to go again.

Yelp
Love this place for tacos and cocktails! It's attached to the Jesse hotel - we sat inside the Jesse this time Kuz it was a bit windy but usually the patio is the perfect happy hour spot!! Did a girls night here and loved it - we had the elote which was so yum see pic! Tacos were pretty good I think we should have ordered more tho I got hungry 2 hours later but maybe Kuz the cricket we ate made me lose my appetite at the time All the tacos had great sauce and great taste, u have to try this place it's a great place to take ppl who r visiting Reno!

Steve S.

Yelp
Great food, great service. We will be telling our friends and be back. 3 tacos was enough for a good meal. My wife thought 2 was enough. An after dinner mezcal hit the spot.
google avatar

Yelp
My husband and I ordered the "make me something" drinks. Delicious and fun option because I never know what to order. The tacos were super fresh, a little spicy, and loved the soft house made corn tortilla. Will definitely be back. I ordered the vegetarian taco which was just right. So grateful for a vegetarian option!

Brian M.

Yelp
The Pastor, chicken, and carne guisada tacos were amazing. Highly recommended. Walked in after reservations at another restaurant didn't go as planned, and my wife and I were glad we did. The passion fruit and 50/50 margaritas were very tasty as well. They complement the tacos perfectly. The tostadas were well done too! The house made tortillas are exactly what we expected and they did not disappoint. We I'll be back.

Yelp
Where else in Reno can I get an Elk Chorizo taco?! For me Estella's really unique menu stood out and made for a fun experience right off the bat. I had the smoked oyster mushroom taco and the elk chorizo taco. The mushroom taco had a great depth of flavor, and was somehow light and filling at the same time. The elk chorizo had a great kick and unique flavor, but definitely kind of overtook my palate, so I was glad I ate it second and could appreciate the delicate flavors of the mushroom taco. Plus, handmade tortillas are always a win! The elotes were a great appetizer to share, and the smoke in the Oaxacan Old Fashioned was such a fun surprise! A killer outdoor patio really set the vibe too--it was our first visit but definitely won't be the last!

Yelp
We love the tacos here maybe if they make them a little bit bigger they would be better, but full flavor carnitas tacos are my favorite, drinks are also delicious , service is a little bad. You feel lost because the people at bar don't greet you or tell you where to start .

Yelp
Located at the Jesse hotel, this place has a fun outdoor vibe. There are also a few tables inside, next to the Jesse bar. I went with the dealer's choice cocktail and the bartender was on point. Their food was on point. The ingredients were so fresh! We tried the Shrimp, al pastor, mushroom and lobster tacos. There was a mix up with the order but they were great about it and got it figured out. We ended up with 2 extra lobster tacos! My fave was the shrimp tostada. The crunch shell paired very well with the juice limey shrimp. The homemade bean dip was good as well. Would come back to try their brunch.

Yelp
This review was for the food served but since the weather was cold and rainy it was served in the Jesse. Two friends and I went to eat and grab drinks at Estella and after inquiring the dining options during the colder weather I was informed food is served inside of the Jesse. A friend and I first went in and saw a pretty packed dining area, I saw a few open tables and so went to grab menus but also grab the available seating. After asking how ordering works, it's similar to placing a drink at the bar. We received numbers at our table, I went with a Vampiro tostada (which is Carnitas, onions, salsa and herbs). For the drink (which is from the Jesse menu- it was the Monkey's Uncle). My friend ordered an ever mounting order of Chips and Bean dip. Everything was tasty. When I placed my order I asked about getting some pies to go, and it was explained that we can get them to go but they will not look pretty. So I said I'll think about it, and shared the info with my friends and they stated maybe we can come back after our event if there was time. The seating is kind of tight were waiters are sliding through, although it's beautiful in there i think the patio is great in terms of having more space. My friend and I walked over after our event to see if we could still order dessert, and the vibe (the Jesse) felt like a lounge type of scene out of LA or SF. There was latin music and a younger crowd, but it was a cool vibe. We were told the only pies left were the Mexican Horchata which one pie per person was great. I can't remember the last time I tasted something where you don't want to reach the last bite ever! At the very end it seemed that everyone aside from a few of us received shots as they did a room full of "salud" so that was interesting to me. We also had to grab the attention of one of the servers for the receipt even though we were seated at the bar and it wasn't super busy. Definitely an experience and maybe the next time it's better weather will be a bit better overall.

Yelp
Found this place while looking for something to eat in Reno and it was lovely! The restaurant has a nice patio, unfortunately it was too cold to eat out there so you can eat in the restaurant which is quite a small eating are, or (what we did) was eat in the Bar of the Jesse Hotel which is affiliated with the restaurant and is very cozy inside. When eating at the hotel you have to order at the bar, get a number and have the food delivered to your table. We started with some chips and guacamole, which came with two salsas and were surprisingly different and flavorful! My boyfriend and I then split 6 tacos and some elote (corn) which were all very good! The tacos were pretty small, so 3 each felt about right, we were quite full but our friends who only got 2 each were left a bit hungry. My favorite tacos were lobster, brisket and carnitas tacos. All were different than I've had elsewhere and very flavorful! The tortilla was house made and fairly thick but worked great with the different tacos. The menu isn't huge but everything we had was very tasty! The drinks were also good, the highlights being the 50/50 margarita and the spicy margarita. Two women I spoke with at the bar noted they come here especially for the 50/50 margarita which is served with both mezcal and tequila, and is turned a purple color due to the prickly pear that is in it! The one downside is this place is not cheap, the tacos were about $6 each, or more depending on the filling, so just something to be aware of.

Yelp
Met with friends Tuesday for a drink, or two, and tacos. The patio was lovely and as the sun went down it was even more delightful. Quite a few people there with the same idea. Service was very good, friendly, responsive, quick. I had a cocktail, forgot the name....La Muerte maybe, made with hibiscus flower, delicious. Friends had spicy margaritas which they loved. I had a smoked mushroom taco which i will definitely have again. Friends each had a fish taco which they both said were great. We started talking about relatives we were going to bring there. Very cute place near the ballpark. I will be back.

Yelp
After a couple of plans fell through I finally got a chance to give this spot a chance. Came here with some family on a whim when we all were in the mood for tacos. They are located next to the Reno Downtown bus stop which if you haven't been there it's "unique" to say the least. Our visit landed in the middle of the RTC strike so seeing the bus station deserted was weird. Overall, the vide of the spot was great. There is plenty of outdoor seating and it's well sheltered from the bus stop craziness. The chips and salsas were a little weak but the tacos were good. Prices are definitely a premium for tacos but you know that walking in. The quality of the tacos also make the prices a bit more bearable. It's a nice family friendly and adult friendly spot for dinner. Looking forward to coming back!

Yelp
Great concept, amazing cocktails, and good food. Stopped by here on my short visit to Reno. Food can only be ordered at the Jesse hotel. Got the sotol based cocktail. Was very well balanced and smooth. Got the carnitas and fish tacos. Based on the price for one, I guess you can call them gourmet tacos. Loved the carnitas tacos, esp the pickles that come along with it. The fish tacos were pretty good too. It would be good if they used smaller pieces of battered fish as it is somewhat challenging to eat a taco with a big oddly shaped battered fish piece. Overall very good experience. I'm sure the bartenders can make anything you want with tequila or mezcal. The surrounding area itself is somewhat shady.

Yelp
I won't give a bad score because this place is simply not for me. 4 stars because They were out of shrimp lobster and only had one slice pie left out of 2 options... 1st to order here u have to walk into the Jesse from the back and place your order at the bar... if you like spicy this is the place. I personally don't like spicy... I ordered Elotes, not much mayo or parmasean on it. When I'm off work I will add my own. But the chili on it had my lips burning. Next I ordered carnitas, green chili spicy again... but maybe when I get home I can drown it on sour cream... The horchata pie was good at cooling things down, decent flavor. Prob would of enjoyed it more if my mouth wasn't on fire... I wished the staff that tooled my ordered warned me about the spiciness I would of opted for no chili on my items. .By the way...My lips and one nostril is on fire.... UPDATE got home and even with sour cream it was to spicy for me. Mouth n nose and now stomach burns.

Yelp
We visited a couple of weeks ago and I personally do not understand the hype of this place. My husband and I wanted to check out this place because it had such great reviews and looked like it would be good...I don't know who is writing the highly rated reviews for this place. It is $6 per taco which is outrageous as these are street tacos. Our tacos were good but not for the pricing. We had cocktails and they were not great. The "homemade chips" were literally just Tostitos or some other bagged chips. The service was not super great, when we were ordering it almost seemed like it was a burden for the bartenders and we had to ask them to explain the ordering as they did not offer up any assistance. The ambiance was okay - it was a weird mix of upscale business people and we felt out of place. Wouldn't recommend.
