Gimmelwald was absolutely breathtaking and Esther's was very wonderful. Fully stocked kitchen so we were able to make some meals which was great as we came in the off season and many things were not open. Laundry service was very helpful for our long trip. The views were outstanding. Esther's was very clean and organized and quiet (again, off season). Our room had a lower ceiling than expected so I did hit my head a few times but that's mostly my own lack of spatial awareness.

I had an amazing stay here. The location is incredible, beautiful views in all directions, and the staff gave me recommendations for one of the best hikes I’ve ever done. If you’re considering staying here I’d recommend it!

Our second stay here. It is truly a slice of heaven. Tobias and Francheska are amazing. You will not meet nicer people. They honored a 5 year old credit we had due to covid not allowing us to return. Beautiful village with just amazing hiking all around. Always spotlessly clean rooms. Love this place!!

We were last minute screwed over by the mountain hostel. With no place to go we stumbled upon esters guesthouse and were able to stay here for the night. They were so nice and helpful and everything was so clean and spacious. Tobias was so kind and we loved talking with him about gimmelwald. I hope to be back one day

We loved this place. Our room was very large, clean, quiet, comfortable, and had a beautiful view. Although the bathroom was "shared," there was no one in the other room so we had it to ourselves. There was even a kitchen if we wanted to cook and free tea and coffee 24/7. We requested the breakfast for an extra fee and it was well worth it since there were no grocery stores or restaurants available without taking a cable car to the next village. |Best of all, Gimmelwald is beautiful! I highly recommend Esther's Guesthouse.

We enjoyed our time here. Rooms are simple, clean, and well stocked and it’s super convenient to the lifts and hiking trails.
Food can be a little limiting in Gimmelwald and you need to plan ahead: local places close by sell basic items (milk, eggs, sausage, and cheese) and there’s a COOP up the hill to buy more items but you’ll need to take the cable car up to Mürren.
The breakfast at the guesthouse is hardy but quite expensive. Make sure you clarify the number of people attending because they will charge you for the total number of people staying and not the number of people sitting down for breakfast (they clearly ignore their own directions stated on their website that it costs 20 CHF PER PERSON). We were charged an additional 20 CHF for our daughter who was ill that morning.
Suggestion for owners: it might be better to stock breakfast items in the fridge for guests staying in the apartments when breakfast is requested. Breakfast was the one part of our stay here that we felt the owners failed to inform us of expectations or respect our requests.

Beautiful location and a wonderful place to stay if you’re visiting the Berner Oberland region. The family running to house is available and as a B&B this is exactly what you should hope for. We could make breakfast, yet they still went out of their way to have fresh bread with local jams and honey available for us in the morning.

I rarely write reviews anymore, but I had to make an exception for Esther’s Guesthouse. This is the Swiss mountain experience you are looking for! The guesthouse is beautiful, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. Some rooms share bathrooms, but you only share a bathroom with one other room so there is a never a line and they are very clean. You awake to the sounds of cows and birds and at night you can watch the sun set behind the mountains from the porch. Seconds from the cable car and if you want a louder atmosphere, the hostel is right around the corner. Hiking and gorgeous vistas in every direction. I’ve stayed here twice now and will return many times in the future!

Esther's B&B came highly recommended, and rightly so. It's been family-run for quite some time. The rooms (I saw 2: mine with a single bed, and my friends' with 2 singles, a double, and a sofabed) are a nice mix of rustic feel with modern conveniences. Some rooms have a shared bathroom, others have private ones. There's a communal fridge and cooking space available. Patio & deck areas are well-maintained. It's just an all around well run little spot in a lovely part of the world. I would happily return to Esther's.
