Regional Ethnographic Open-Air Museum "Etar"

Absolutely Amazing Experience,I've visited this placd over 20 years ago when I was student with my class at the time,today I came back to pass on the experience to our kids as they must know about our past,I definitelly recommend to anyone ,I wish more Bulgarians had the possibility and time to visit and go around it,as as a Bulgarian myself,saw majority were not Bulgarian speaking tourists. Here you can see so many "professions" which almost no more existing,the vintage water equipment,such as flour mills,wood mills,rope processing equipment,"river washing machine".Museum of some rich family at the time,Leather works,Woodworks,Metalworks,Traditional breakfast place,handmade sweets,and so on and so on,please if you are going with kids,allow 4 hours for the visit as there are plenty of things to be seen and read around the estate. 101% Recommend to anyone regardless of nationality or age,as it will be very interesting to anyone. You wont regred for a second for your visit. Parking is paid 1.53 for up to 3 hrs,so always spaces are available.

It's a truly wonderful experience, a place with clean and cool air and where you feel like you're in the past. I recommend it for both parents with young children and young architecture students who are interested in the vernacular architecture of the Bulgarian village. The buildings are really well maintained with authentic exhibits and each one on the ground floor has a workshop dedicated to a craft. (Blacksmithing, leatherworking, tailoring etc)The entrance it s cheap. It was 3€ for student/elder person and 7 € the normal ticket. I recommend wearing shoes with thicker soles, the streets are paved like they were 150 years ago and you will feel every stone if you will come with sneakers.

A small, artificial village with reconstructed houses where you can learn a lot about Bulgarian history. However, very few traditional crafts are actually demonstrated; instead, it's become more of an expensive souvenir shop with an attached museum. Even the locally made products (leather belts, silver jewelry, pots, felt, etc.) are completely overpriced (at least that's my impression). If you want to buy something, you should have plenty of cash on hand, as card payments are almost universally unavailable. During our visit, there were many school groups attending special demonstrations (we were able to listen in on some of them).

We spent about an hour. It was a nice walk, calm and relax. It cost EUR7/adult, paid parking about EUR1.50. I would come again and will spend longer hours here without rushing to the next location.

Unfortunately we did visit in February and only 10% of the stores/museum were open and we still had to to pay full ticket price of 7€. Still tho there was a lot of interesting staff to see and learn about the Bulgarian culture and history, most of it explained in English aswell. There arw a lot of stores that make Bulgarian products which you can buy while there is a someone sitting inside and making the products inside at the same time in front of you, ranging from food to souvenirs and many other products. It is definitely worth visiting just avoid winter since almost nothing works.
