"This ultra-modern museum offers a comprehensive look at the formation of the seven Emirates that make up the UAE. It draws a diverse crowd of UAE nationals and history-buff tourists. The museum lies on the site where the country's unification was signed in 1971. The Etihad Museum isn't overwhelming in size or content. Even non-museum lovers will find the exhibitions interesting and crucial to a well-rounded UAE visit." - Melinda Healy

Such a beautiful museum. It was completely empty when we went. This was where they signed the agreement to make this a United union. The wonderful lady gave us a little tour and then we went downstairs to the museum. It’s completely interactive. So cool We were the only one in the huge museum and had so much fun.

Spectacularly designed, thoughtfully, arranged, and meticulously maintained, this is how any nations national heritage should be celebrated. We were impressed with the scope and layout, the level of detail and the relevance of information. Anyone interested in how divided tribes could unite and accomplish so much in so little time should visit this place. As a bonus, you can see a historical pavilion where 1971 treaty was signed. A premier example of how the museums should be designed, built, and maintained. The staff was most welcoming and helpful during our visit. Free parking on premises is provided

This is an off the beaten track Museum. It is a breathtaking building and a beautiful garden. Mostly empty so one can visit at leasure. The display is interesting enough, but the interior is worth the short walk.

A must visit in Dubai to understand the founding of UAE. Former al-Diyafah Palace and the Jumeirah Guesthouse, the museum displays the heritage of the United Arab Emirates from old passports to personal artifacts of the rulers of United Arab Emirates. The historic signing of the Constitution of the United Arab Emirates, the raising of the first UAE flag, and the formation of the United Arab Emirates as a country on 2 December 1971 took place within the area that forms the museum today. We were warmly welcomed by staff Aisah who introduced us to the museum’s rich heritage.

The museum is dedicated to the union of the emirates and the formation of the current state. The exhibits are not very spectacular, but the building has an unusual, very beautiful architecture. It represents a rolled sheet of paper, representing the document signed for the union (according to the guide). As part of the museum, you can also visit (with a guide) the room where the union was signed, as well as the building where Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum received his important visitors. Very good guide! Also, there is an interesting (temporary?) exhibition of Arabic calligraphy. You need about an hour to visit it. There is also a cafe, but it does not serve alcohol.

I visited some exceptional museums in UAE but none made me as happy as my time in Etihad Museum. As a historian, I enjoyed every single bit of information displayed in this fine establishment, and spent almost two hours in it. The journey to UAE’s foundation and its wonderful founding fathers is nothing short of an exceptionally moving part of history. One can only hope that such federalist projects can be realized in other parts of the world as well, as they say, there is strength in unity. Other than finding out about the foundation of UAE, you can also visit the room in which this treaty was signed in 1971, which was another highlight of the visit for me, as even the air conditioners were kept original, maintained to work to this day. They also offer some workshops, I tried my best and failed to paint a purse myself. Much love from Turkey, hope to be back soon.
