Hotel Palazzo Zichy

"Named for Count Nándor Zichy and completely rehabilitated in 2009, the hotel's 19th century bones serve it well, while the contemporary furnishings bring up-to-date oomph and highlight the beauty and stylishness of the build. So too is its location in the palace quarter undergoing a renaissance – you won't be far from new cafes, restaurants and nightlife."

A great hotel for couples. The location is perfect; close to the city center yet quiet. There are plenty of restaurants (for lunch and dinner) as well as coffee bars and bakeries (for breakfast) within a 1 km radius. The building itself breathes history and heritage. The lobby is very impressive when you walk in for the first time. We had an issue with the shower on the first morning, but the staff quickly gave us a new room. It was presented as an upgrade, though it felt quite similar to the first one (except the ceiling was lower). The reception staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms could use a bit of refreshing: in both rooms we stayed in, the wallpaper was peeling in some areas, some electric sockets were loose, and the paint on the light switches was starting to chip. We tried the hotel breakfast once; it was well stocked, but we preferred trying typical Hungarian pastries at local coffee bars nearby, as we couldn’t find much of that at the hotel breakfast. The price is very reasonable for what you get. Just don’t expect much of the wellness or fitness facilities.

Douaa was the absolute best! From the moment we arrived at check in she was friendly and patient … but she was exceptionally knowledgeable about the area and best restaurants and what to do!! Her restaurant recommendations were spot on … she made our time in Budapest exceptional… the hotel while nice enough was not in the city center … it was quite a distance from everything we wanted to do … it was in a quite neighborhood… the staff was friendly .. we enjoyed our stay but would have preferred closer to the main area … better walking distance Thank you Douaa … you were amazing!

Great location, beautiful hotel!!! We really enjoyed our long weekend stay at this beautiful hotel. The bed and floor was sooo squeaky and creaky we would lay there thinking we aren't even moving what's creaking (maybe it's haunted), and I could hear the person next door couching and talking, not recommended for honeymoons 🤣 I was on the fence about giving it 5* but I have to, it is such a great location and the sauna and gym is available 24h, big bonus. It is a beautiful building where modern meets classic architecture. Cleanliness was superb, even though there was come spillage in the elevator I informed the receptionist and it was still there hours later.... We never ended up trying the breakfast but it looked really good!

We booked the Eurostars Zichy after reading the reviews and due to reasonable pricing.|The building is beautiful, clean and well maintained. Rooms are also clean with twin beds , several cabinets, coffee machine and fridge. Bath rooms are very clean with a nice shower head and spray. Hotel provided shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, cream and hand soap and also an hair dryer. Rooms are on the smaller side, hardly much space to keep your luggage.|Service at the front desk varies from very friendly to so so. One of the best receptionist was Dua who greeted with smile and ready to help. |The hotel is not close to Budapest palace or Parliment building for which you have to take uber or taxi.

Great hotel location - really close to town (Uber/Bolt available if needed in the city too). Warm welcome and lovely entrance to the hotel. Initially very happy with room, beds were firm but fine. Beautiful shower and bathroom and an ok view from the window. Mini bar in room (thankfully) and tea/coffee making equipment was provided.||That’s where the good stuff ends. Unfortunately returning to my room on Friday night I realised the air conditioning wasn’t working properly and only pumping out warm air. It didn’t drop below 20° that night outside and the room was much warmer so decided to deal with it in the morning as it was late. After a horrible nights sleep I told reception that the air conditioning wasn’t working and the tv had no signal therefore no channels - they told me they would sort it. ||After returning to my hot room I got a call from reception saying that they don’t have an engineer at the weekend so nobody could fix the air conditioning or tv! Very disappointing. They did offer me a smaller room with twin beds but considering I paid for a larger room with a view and large bed this really wasn’t an appropriate alternative. ||After 3 very hot sweaty and pretty sleepless nights - I was more than glad to check out. I did complain again on checkout but all I got was a “I understand”. I was happy to get home for a good sleep in a cooler room. Bad experience!

I ran the Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon and was glad I stayed here before the race. It is only like a block away from tram 6 and 4 which will get you to most places, plus you connect with the tram 2 which runs along the Danube. The hotel was very quiet, the beds were comfortable, and there was free coffee in the lobby. The employees were great and everything was clean.

Lovely hotel, very clean, the brilliant staff (reception & housekeeping) were incredibly friendly, helpful and professional. Location fantastic for high quality local restaurants and bars immediately on the doorstep (we also found it very easy to explore the whole city, almost exclusively on foot, from this hotel). Prior to coming here we read a couple of reviews on Google where people hadn’t been 100% happy, however for us we found zero faults or issues, our stay here was flawless, genuinely a fantastic hotel, it was an absolute pleasure staying here.

*edit 2x days before check out, one of two elevators broke down and we were told it would be fixed in an hour when repairmen would arrive. Obviously it would take a bit of time but 2.5 days later its still not fixed. Also the phone lines don't ring down to reception. I told them about it but it's yet to be fixed. Kinda worried about carrying suitcases down when we leave. Checked-In a few days ago for a week long trip here in Budapest and the Palazzo Zichy is one gorgeous building full of history! Eurostars Hotels have done a good job keeping it simple and the central location is great for anyone wanting to save on transport and have a willingness to walk around. Public Transport is near by though if you are sore and need a quick retreat to the hotel. There are some slightly pricey restaurants next to the hotel but they taste great. Try all of them. Oh and a lovely active church. But overall a lovely quiet place to recharge and homebase to and from. Saying that, our room does have a disappointing window view into the central courtyard which is now the reception lobby ceiling. And the Air-Conditioning seems to be either off or Heating down to 5 degrees? Thankfuly its not heating the room since its early September but still quite humid. I think the modes have been fiddled with since maybe it can get cold? The heating also goes up but I set it as low as possible. The bathroom may be odd for some people with its graphic covered Glass door that "swings both ways" 😄. And doesn't latch lock. But the Bathroom is well appointed and a delightful shade of charcoal/black. Very easy on the eyes in the mornings! Our bathroom's shower sprayer seems to have broken off the wall so its a bit of a faff if you open up the taps to full blast. The sprayer will launch into to next week if you are not careful. But great fun to wrangle and get the body moving 🤣🤣. I had a blast once I caught it. Very Fun no joke. For the cheaper rooms, its not too bad. spacious enough for two single beds and a closet for two check-in bags and 1x person to change in. Big Bathroom and an overworked mini bar fridge. That poor thing need the door removed or something. Poor little guy. Loving Budapest so far and its only day 2.5!
