Hotel Palazzo Zichy

"Named for Count Nándor Zichy and completely rehabilitated in 2009, the hotel's 19th century bones serve it well, while the contemporary furnishings bring up-to-date oomph and highlight the beauty and stylishness of the build. So too is its location in the palace quarter undergoing a renaissance – you won't be far from new cafes, restaurants and nightlife."

Lovely hotel, very clean, the brilliant staff (reception & housekeeping) were incredibly friendly, helpful and professional. Location fantastic for high quality local restaurants and bars immediately on the doorstep (we also found it very easy to explore the whole city, almost exclusively on foot, from this hotel). Prior to coming here we read a couple of reviews on Google where people hadn’t been 100% happy, however for us we found zero faults or issues, our stay here was flawless, genuinely a fantastic hotel, it was an absolute pleasure staying here.

Great hotel location - really close to town (Uber/Bolt available if needed in the city too). Warm welcome and lovely entrance to the hotel. Initially very happy with room, beds were firm but fine. Beautiful shower and bathroom and an ok view from the window. Mini bar in room (thankfully) and tea/coffee making equipment was provided.||That’s where the good stuff ends. Unfortunately returning to my room on Friday night I realised the air conditioning wasn’t working properly and only pumping out warm air. It didn’t drop below 20° that night outside and the room was much warmer so decided to deal with it in the morning as it was late. After a horrible nights sleep I told reception that the air conditioning wasn’t working and the tv had no signal therefore no channels - they told me they would sort it. ||After returning to my hot room I got a call from reception saying that they don’t have an engineer at the weekend so nobody could fix the air conditioning or tv! Very disappointing. They did offer me a smaller room with twin beds but considering I paid for a larger room with a view and large bed this really wasn’t an appropriate alternative. ||After 3 very hot sweaty and pretty sleepless nights - I was more than glad to check out. I did complain again on checkout but all I got was a “I understand”. I was happy to get home for a good sleep in a cooler room. Bad experience!

Emily at the reception is the most professional, graceful, poise and amicable worker there is. She definitely could work at the Ritz and she will go places. She made our stay beyond perfect. The service was fantastic and personable, quiet and full of smiles from the cleaning ladies to the waiter, and the maintenance guy, a phone call away. The room was very good, the view of the church splendid, solid breakfast from 7 to 11, so no rush, tea and coffee on offer in the lobby, i did enjoy the sauna, i will come back definitely. Thank you so much.

Great location and otherwise decent, but hot room / poor air conditioning (and screaming other guests with the windows open) ruined it. If you have trouble sleeping in heat do not risk staying here in the summer! The good: Clean room, very nice shower/bathroom, nice lobby, staff helpful with leaving bags and such. The bad: Stayed here partly because it was hot out and AC was advertised. “Air conditioning” was sadly in name only. The thermostat temp was fixed and just controls fan speed - which of course would be fine if it blew cold air. But it blew lukewarm air, and we eventually realized it was doing more harm than good. So we opened a window… but between 1am-2am there were guests partying and literally shouting and screaming in either the lobby or some sort of balcony in the central courtyard (which the staff definitely would have heard). So what could have been a nice stay became a night having to choose between overheating vs screaming in the middle of the night. Definitely not a 4 star experience.

I always stay here when I visit Budapest now! Everything is great. Takeaway coffee in the lobby a real treat. Rooms clean and well equipped, bed comfy, WiFi reliable and friendly staff. I haven't used the gym but heard it is adequate. Also good location walking distance to everything you need 😀

This hotel boasts refined decor within a charming Austro-Hungarian-style building, nestled in a delightful neighborhood with easy access to all major sights, whether on foot or via the excellent public transport network (Budapest Go app). The impeccable breakfast is served in a beautifully appointed setting. The staff’s exceptional kindness truly stands out, making this hotel one of my most memorable travel experiences.

A very nice boutique-style hotel located in a quiet, safe neighborhood. It is housed in a historic building but is nonetheless very modern, with new furniture, bedding, and towels. The staff is friendly and welcoming. However, the breakfast does not match the overall high quality of the hotel —there’s a very limited selection, mostly cold dishes that are repeated every morning, and the so-called "juice" was just horrible. Despite this, the overall stay was quite positive.
