Mele Cascades Waterfall Entrance Desk

Please note that there is a fee to access the entrance to the swimming area, and apparently there is another fee to pay to access the waterfall because a Chinese person owns the land. The swimming hole at the cascades was very nice, though the water was fresh! There are many areas to set down and enjoy a peaceful picnic alongside the river.

Incredible! There is an entrance fee at the bottom which gives you access to the change rooms and a lovely pool at the base of the cascades. You can then walk up the path and there’s another entrance fee to walk up to the top of the waterfall. All up it was about 3500 Vatu - bit pricey but absolutely worth it. The walk itself was about 20 minutes uphill, a few lots of steps, crossing through a river, and then climbing up through the waterfall itself. There were plenty of flat sections to catch your breath. Recommend shoes with good grip. There was a rope guiding the path up through the waterfall itself. At the top there was a deep pool you can swim in to cool off. Stunning view of the waterfall and beautiful setting in the rainforest. It was quiet and we had the waterfall to ourselves!

Amazing waterfalls! Staff are lovely and the falls are gorgeous! When you arrive just walk up and someone will see you and help with directions and payment :)

How sad. You’re asked to pay 3000 VT per person to get in, and the first thing you notice is that although the running river is pretty the rest of it has not been looked after. Bridges with missing slats, roofs missing. Then on top of that, you start walking up the hill and there is a white man in a blue tent asking locals to charge them 2000 VT extra per person to go up to the waterfalls. Truly feeling scammed by this point. No signage along the way. No advice that there is a river to cross. Didn’t even get to the waterfalls because we had no way to cross the river. Extremely disappointed Don’t waste your money

BEWARE OF THEFT OF YOUR BELONGINGS! As much as the nearly exorbitant near $100AUD put us off, the waterfall is beautiful but not worth the fees they're asking for. And as others have noted, it's a money grab as they don't really look after the waterfall. The changing rooms and bathrooms are in shambles. No cafe or any drinks/food. Fair bit of rubbish lying around. However, what ruined the day and our holiday was my backpack got stolen. We went on a Wednesday noon and it was literally empty. We could hear some of the local boys playing/swimming nearby as we were climbing to the top of the waterfall. Once we reached the top, there was nobody there and we obviously changed to get into the waterfall to swim. Within a space of 2-3 minutes of getting into the water, we wanted to take photos so I went back to get my phone from the bag. And it was gone! So obviously whoever stole it were watching us, and quickly stole it as soon as we got into the water. I had left both my iPhone and apple watch, whereas my wife had only left her iPhone in the bag. No wonder they didn't steal her bag! Needless to say this ruined our otherwise amazing vacation. The locals are some of the nicest people you will meet. But we also learned the hard way there are dodgy people everywhere on this planet. Though the locals tried to help us, it was to no avail and we reported it to the police. We suggested the management of the top waterfall to have a security at the top to watch over customers belongings. And to have signage to make aware to look after ones belongings. They did return our entrance fee it must be noted. Please be careful if you plan to visit this place!

Very disappointing. We felt ripped off. It’s 1500 vt per person entry at the bottom, and then another 2000 vt further up the trail. We went back down to use the bathrooms (which are disgusting) and they tried to get us to pay another 2000 vt each again (twice!). An old white man asked for more money even though we paid when he was there the first time. He let us in finally, but we were chased by a young local girl when we went it asking for more money even though we already paid directly to her the first time! It’s not like they do anything. Just one job of collecting money and they can’t even do that. The whole place is in urgent need of repair, and there’s no cafe where you can get any type of food or drink. Such a shame considering how pricey it is, no idea where the money is going.

The view is amazing.😎 But We have to pay 1500Vt at the entrance and another 2000Vt at another place to get to the waterfall.Total3500Vt. Why collect the money in two installments?🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 That's such a shame.😭

The natural beauty of the area and falls is worth experiencing. This tour was included in our package but the promised drinks, fresh fruit etc were no where to be seen. As with most places we have been to, the Vanuatu people are lovely and helpful but the place seems very run down and the bus that took us was pretty rough and the roads very pot holed. Still a good experience though!
