A was a little unsure of visiting this place after seeing some of the negative reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised. We went here twice for breakfast. The parfait was delicious. The next day I had omelette, which came with little fried potatoes and toast, and that was lovely too. We made a last minute decision to go there for dinner, they squeezed us in without a reservation and we enjoyed our meal. The spinach spaetzel was recommended as a side dish by our waiter - a slightly odd dish, but delicious and very moreish! The staff were friendly and helpful. I couldn't fault it really. You don't get the same views as some of the other restaurants in Banff. Other than that I thought it was a lovely place to eat.

I recently celebrated my brother-in-law's birthday at Evergreen Restaurant, and the experience was truly exceptional. From the moment we arrived, our server, David, was attentive and made us feel special. He ensured that every detail was taken care of, enhancing our dining experience. The dinner, crafted by the chef, was nothing short of sumptuous, with each dish bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. Plus they gave us a piece of pastry with a candle which added a personal touch that made the celebration unforgettable. Overall, the combination of attentive service, delicious food, and thoughtful surprises made for a memorable occasion. I can’t recommend Evergreen Restaurant enough and will definitely be returning for future celebrations. Thank you, Evergreen, for making our night so special!

EXCEPTIONAL FINE DINING EXPERIENCE This restaurant consistently delivers outstanding dishes that keep us coming back. On a previous visit, we enjoyed the Atlantic Salmon entrée, complemented by cheesecake and a meringue with blueberries, all paired with hot coffee. The meal began with freshly baked buns served with oil and balsamic vinegar, setting the tone for a delightful dining experience. On our most recent visit, we enjoyed the “Saskatoon Berry Pie”, which was nothing short of excellent. The specially prepared ice cream by Chef Rodrigo was absolutely delicious and paired perfectly with the pie. SERVICE & STAFF The service here is always top-notch. David (C.R. / C), our server, was attentive, friendly, and genuinely caring, ensuring our dining experience was seamless and enjoyable. The staff consistently provide warm and professional service, making every visit memorable. ATMOSPHERE The restaurant offers a relaxed, quiet, and welcoming environment, which was especially appreciated after a long day of hiking in the mountains. The atmosphere makes it a perfect spot for both cozy dining and special occasions. CLEANLINESS & PRESENTATION The restaurant is immaculately clean, with a well-organized and beautifully presented dining area. Tables are neatly set, and the attention to detail in both food presentation and restaurant maintenance enhances the overall experience. FINAL THOUGHTS This restaurant remains one of our favorite fine dining spots. The exceptional food, attentive service, and inviting atmosphere make every visit enjoyable. We have never been disappointed with either the food or service!

I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone, if you not sure what to have in Banff, dine here! The New York steak and sirloin were cooked perfectly, just how we ordered them - medium-rare and delicious. Don't miss out on the amazing carrot puree—it was absolutely delicious!👍🏻😋 The mussels were also fantastic, especially with the bread. You can really taste the freshness! The restaurant atmosphere is perfect for gathering and enjoy a relaxing evening. Big thanks to Chef Ruslan!

David our server was exceptionally knowledgeable he made our dining experience to be one of the best we’ve experienced since travelling around Canada. Food was excellent and the atmosphere was other worldly. Would highly recommend.

Great food here! Everything made from fresh produce. Try the Elk, Bison or beef burgers for a real big treat. We also tried the specialty of the house which is the 3 course Elk Short Rib meal. Had it with the housemade Cream of Spinach and it was delicious 😋 And the chocolate mousse foe desert was sweet enough! They make a good Old Fashion and great Mimi to with fresh mint. Would recommend anytime if you love great food!

THE BEST home made patties are in Banff! Royal Canadian Lodge Burger. The flavour is amazing and let me tell you, it’s BIG! Couldn’t finish it all. It comes with pickles, onion rings, tomatoes, lettuces, cheese and the testiest patties you’ll have in Banff. I had a side of the truffle and & Parmesan cheese French fries and it was heaven. Our server Lucie went above and beyond. The made an excellent Ceaser although it’s not her favorite drink. Not too spicy, not too muddy, just perfect. She’s friendly and connects with people beautifully. Way to go Lucie!! I’ve heard they have a $21 especial on Wednesday for a burger & beer so def. Coming back!!

Was going back to the GTA so decided not to go out for breakfast anymore (was staying at the Royal Canadian Lodge). I was offered the $25 buffer breakfast, but I opted for ala carte instead. I order the Classic (2 eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, toast). I ordered the eggs over easy but got them well done/partly well done. I told the server and she did offer to change them, but I didn't want to waste food so I just stuck with them. The sausages were unusually hard and rubbery, like they either cooked them from frozen or they were just really old. I don't know how good (or bad) their other offerings are, but I'd say avoid the Classic breakfast. All in all this was a disappointing last meal in Banff.

Yelp
Came here from the sister hotel at 6 pm Sunday of a long weekend. We're the only one. Until we left at 7:30, only one other guest just came in. Guest Canadian eats dinner late. Hostess is very welcoming at set us in a table next to the fireplace. Water and menu come out readily. We ordered a surf and turf shared plate. I also ordered a Martini. Baguette slides and butter are served but unfortunately cold and hard. The server quickly replaces a warm soft ones upon complaining. Entrees came out beautifully decorated. The steak is cooked perfectly medium rare, soft, juicy and pinky. Salmon is nicely seared. Shrimps are juicy. The risotto is well prepared and gets distinctly flavored. The seafood is nice but a little too far on the spicy scale. Petite potato, asparagus, bell peppers, mushrooms, baby bok Choy are all nicely prepared. Dill and parsley complimented the seafood flavorfully. Unfortunately, we don't have room for dessert. Lost the picture of the shared plate. It's not the high end of fine dining but it's ok. If you stayed in the hotel, there 10% off coupon. Or the sister hotel offered a $25 off for a romantic package too. Give them a try.

Yelp
Our food was really good, and so was our service. Our server was really nice and the bartender fixed a special mocktail for us. But we were the only people in the restaurant. 2 people were in the bar when we were seated, and 2 others arrived in the bar while we were eating. But that was it. Even the person at the front desk seemed surprised that we were there for dinner. Felt a little weird. Not sure why though since the food was really good!

Yelp
3.5 stars. We had our Christmas Day dinner here after making a reservation on Open Table. The Evergreen Restaurant is located inside the Banff Royal Canadian Lodge which is convenient if you're staying in the hotel or nearby as we were. We were seated promptly, but it took forever for them to serve us. It was a set menu of pumpkin soup (smooth, creamy, loved the touch of maple), salmon for my husband, and fettuccine for me. (I cried inside when they said that there weren't any vegetarian options. But they were able to cook a fettuccine with vegetables in a cream sauce.) Dessert was a chocolate mousse over a tart topped with some Frangelicio whipped cream. I liked the chocolate mousse, but the tart was hard as a rock and difficult to eat. They did have free wifi which is always a plus for travelers and to kill time on during slow service. Probably wouldn't return as it was overpriced for the slow service and okay food... Maybe for the pumpkin soup.

Yelp
The elk burger tasted reheated and not fresh off the grill. The only thing fresh on it was the tomato and the bun. The fries were mushy and soaked with grease. Undercooked frozen product? Whatever they were it was not good or worth 19.00

Yelp
We stayed at the Royal Canadian Lodge for three nights. During our stay we had breakfast twice, and lunch and dinner once each at the Evergreen. The food was beautiful, tasted fabulous and the service was attentive and kind. It was reasonably priced, quiet, and also very convenient for us as guests of the hotel. We did a lot of hiking while we were there, including our child, and our tired legs appreciated having the option to not have to walk some more to get a great meal. This restaurant definitely deserves more than the average 3 stars. Thank you, Evergreen staff!

Yelp
We have been in Banff two days and have eaten at the Evergreen twice (located in the Banff Royal Canadian Hotel)! It is wonderful! For lunch the first day I ate the chicken sandwich and it was tasty. The chicken was a bit too small for the bun, but with all the fixings and the fries it was more than enough food. My travel buddy got the elk burger. Wow! It was fabulous! Very juicy and flavorful. I ordered a glass of the house Cabernet Sauvignon ($8) it got the job done! The second night we went for dinner. They serve a bread basket with dinner and it was a good filler. We both started with a salad, friend with a caesar and myself with a house salad, the tomato vinaigrette was very nice. For the main course we both ordered the Chicken Supreme...chicken breast stuffed with goat cheese on a bed of mushroom risotto and grilled asparagus, topped with crispy fried leeks! FREAKING FANTASTIC!!!!! It was SO delicious! I would highly recommend this restaurant! Maybe a little pricey for some, but the food was worth it!

Yelp
Came here for dinner and all of us ordered the surf and turf meal. Salad was good, the dressing was especially good. You can tell it's made in-house! Almost tasted like a tomato soup :) The lobster tail surprised me, as I don't actually like lobster. Very sweet. The sirloin was cooked perfectly, although a bit over seasoned for my taste. Altogether pretty good. For dessert, we were served a lemon tart. So good that I ate my moms one too hehe. Service was great! No complaints there.

Yelp
They advertised a beautiful ambiance and inviting menu. I booked online as I was coming from Kamloops BC. Expecting quality service I was disappoi km nted at the start. My reservation was acknowledged but I was not provided a table at my expected time . The bartender ignored us for at least 15 minutes and my partner had to wave him down even though there were only four people at the bar. Things got worse as we had to wait for another 40 minutes before we got our table. Thinking the worst was over and we were going to have an amazing dinner we took that in stride and ordered the recommended three course meal with Elk Ribs as a highlight of the menu. Disappointing meal as the elk was cooked too fast and came out tough and uninviting as a cow hide. The server was uneducated and unable to provide good service required in an establishment as Evergreen touted to be. Not Impressed!!

Yelp
We went for breakfast on a Sunday morning. The buffet felt like a good decision until we went to get food. At 10:00 in the morning everything was gone and we had to ask for the Buffett to be re-filled. The food was terrible. Eggs Benedict was the worst I've ever had. Service was slow we had to ask for our bill twice. We will not be going back.

Yelp
This restaurant is located inside the Royal Canadian hotel. We dined there twice - once for breakfast and again for dinner. Breakfast was ok - we both had eggs Benedict and they were pretty good. Dinner, however, was a let down. We had the charcuterie board, which somehow managed to be both uninspired and weird. No small feat. The French onion soup was far too salty, although my partner said the tomato soup was nice. Service was a bit hit and miss on both occasions. It's an ok spot for breakfast if you don't feel like leaving the hotel, but many better dinner choices in Banff.

Yelp
I have been to the Evergreen 3 times in the last 2 years. The first time it was fantastic and the chef personally served us our food. The second time we were made aware that the head chef changed and the menu changed slightly as well. The meal was average but was not as happy as the first time. Our last experience this month was below average. The chef changed yet again and the food was not good. The service is always great but it is extremely disappointing how the chefs constantly change and quality of food is below average. Needless to say we will not go back to this restaurant.

Yelp
We just ate dinner here after a week traveling. This was our best meal this trip. Food and service were excellent. We ate a great beetroot and feta salad followed by arctic char. Both were excellent. Our waitress was pleasant and very efficient.

Yelp
The Evergreen has the best steak in town. We ordered the Alberta filet. Absolutely flavorful and juicy. The sides were great as well. We tried the steakhouse at the Big fancy Hotel at the end of town, but it didn't compare. Chef Cameron is top notch when it comes to preparing his food. We sampled his desserts as well and were delighted. Well done! Thanks Delta Hotel and Evergreen!

Yelp
We stayed at the hotel, one breakfast package came with our $400+ per night room. Really made no sense, it was two of us, my wife and I. The breakfast....the buffet is comparable to a low grade Hampton Inn, bad looking eggs, cold bacon, hard pancakes, you get the picture....all for $20 per person. Available are cooked to order eggs @ an additional. 50 cents per egg, seemed a bit odd??? We went this route one morning, eggs came out burnt. Prepare to be underwhelmed.

Abe A.

Yelp
As others have stated, the breakfast buffet here is expensive and horrible. Eggs were bland but ok. Pancakes were the worst I've ever had. OJ was not fresh. Fruit was ok. Service was not good. And it was more than $10 a person for buffet. I would not recommend.

Eldon S.

Yelp
My wife and I went for breakfast here on a weekday and we were disappointed that the buffet was not available. Apparently there is a min number of guests that need to be registered before it is offered. The food we had was acceptable and the server was attentive so I guess I can't complain too much, but it would have been nice if they said something on their website other than "buffet is subject to availability". Would I go back? Given the number of great restaurants in the vicinity, likely not. Our trip to Banff was for a special occasion and we were looking for a great breakfast to finish our trip with.

Yelp
I hate to write bad memories on food/restaurant ... Our first time to Banff, check into this hotel that looks fantastic, our room was spacious & awesome, we didn't have a view but have access to a lovely terrace. We saw a few tables occupied as we passed by the resturant to our room upon check-in. Since we got in relatively late in the day and didn't want to go out, we decided to try the onsite restaurant. We done our research (sadly not from yelp) and thought this restaurant was pretty good. It's like 7, so might as well try it espeically & when I saw elk on the menu from the web site, I was motiviated. We sat down at the table, read the menu, ordered wine and here came the food. First a frozen personal size cheese pizza arrived for our son. OK, since they don't have pizza on the regular menu, perhaps reasonable to serve frozen pizza for kids. The onion soup was nice, slightly salty then others I had elsewhere but overall reasonable. Then bison steak and shrimp and the elk arrived, both look pretty good especially the elk. As we dig in, the problem surface. The elk, I order medium rare, it came out way over well done which turns into chewy brisket, tough despite it looks really good ! The bison steak was the same way, medium rare but arrived well done. Now the grill shrimp were completely the other way around, it was still translucent in the middle and cool, so it weren't cooked through (see uploaded pic). We did not send back both dishes but we did not eat further either, server tried to compensate us by offering free desert and we rejected. Manager came out tried to recover but it was already past 9, so we kindly declined replacement plate but accepted a free ice cream for the little guy. At the end, we weren't charged for the meal but just the wine. It was an acceptable resolution and where the 2 stars belongs. The menu was awesome, just the actual deliver were not up to par.

Yelp
Just arrived that evening and staying in the hotel so we thought it would be an easy good dinner. We ate in the lounge to have the more simple menu. We got the chicken sandwich and elk burger with fries. The fries were very soggy and almost like they were not cooked all the way through. Just soaked will oil. The elk burger did not taste fresh at all. The chicken sandwich was ok. It was supposed to have guacamole on it. The guac was scant and did not taste freshly made at all. The online drink menu was not the same on the drink menu in the lounge. The madras was supposed to have pear vodka in it. Instead it has vodka with peach schnapps. Service was good but food was definitely disappointing.

Yelp
Great service. Adjustable menu for you. Good wine list. Try the white chocolate ice cream

Yelp
Awesome Food! They were very accommodating to my Celiac's needs (gluten free). For once a restaurant didn't charge me extra for gluten free bread! I had the Brococinni slad to start then had the elk medallions for my entree and to end I had the GF mousse. And everything was AMAZING. My fiancé had the elk as well and you could tell that mine was modified to be GF but he said that my potatoes tasted better and so did my bread. Ha! GF usually means "off" taste but not here. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
We really enjoyed our diner at Evergreen and we agreed to elect it our best diner in Banff. I really recommend the bittersweet chocolate desert! Each dish was excellent, with unexpected refinement. Perfect cooking of the meat and vegetables with right seasoning and then the little plus on top of it (or below) I had one of the season dish, the duck , served with a mix of mash potatoes with few green beans and carrots on top cooked to perfection, a slice of unexpected roasted pumpkin hidden below, cresses on top. The duck was perfectly pink, tender et so tasty. We also enjoyed the bitter sweet cake with roasted almond vanilla ice cream Honestly I have never had such a desert: full/ long taste of chocolate, not too sweet, with a really good ice cream and a 'just enough' sauce on top, few raspberries... Fantastic. Thanks for a great diner.

Ian C.

Yelp
Freezer burn never tasted so good! I had the Arctic char, which was a vision of cold fish and cummy sauce. The mashed potatoes were good

Liza S.

Yelp
We stayed at the hotel so I tried the breakfast and it left a lot to be desired. I purposely chose not to go with the buffet because the eggs and potatoes looked dry and I thought I'd have better luck ordering something specifically made for me. The omelette I ordered was overcooked and dry. I ate 3 bites and had to stop. And the potatoes just looked like they scooped them right off the buffet. My waitress was sweet but a bit inattentive. She never came back after serving my plate, to ask how I liked the meal. I would have sent it back if she had. And then when I left almost the whole thing on the plate, she didn't bother to ask if anything was not to my liking. As an additional piece of information, I will mention that the coffee was brown water... so weak it made this American grimace. I had much higher expectations for a European-style town such as this. Sad to say that Starbucks was the only reliable way to get a strong cup of java. Gonna search put a local coffee shop on Yelp and try them out tomorrow. The other ratings for Evergreen make me wonder if maybe dinner is better than breakfast, but I don't really want to take the chance to find out.

Ron P.

Yelp
oh, i wanted to like it. they were lovely and tried so hard. the room is not great - i wish they would frost the windows to the lobby - it didn't have a great environment - couldn't transcend the feel of hotel restaurant. we had the smoked fish app - the fish was great. the horseradish cream really lacked any flavor. the salad was overdressed. the mains were duck and elk. the duck was a bit flat - good meat but the l'orange was very mediocre. the elk was inconsistently cooked. some pieces done well, others over done. their heart was in it... but...

Chad B.

Yelp
Called at 7pm, I was told no need to make a reservation, just come in whenever. Got there at 8pm, then told me that a large group has booked and there is no chance we can be seated. Not even an offer to sit at a bar and wait for a table. Very poor service.
