Visited midday on a Saturday to order from their brunch menu. The parking lot is small and was full so we found free street parking in the neighborhood.
The environment is casual and hip with both booths and chairs to dine on. From the weekend brunch menu, I ordered the So-Cal Grain Bowl ($14) and added a salmon filet (+$5). My wife ordered the Confit Pork Bagel Breakfast Sandwich ($15) and blueberry matcha latte ($5) to drink. My So-Cal Grain Bowl tasted good, but with the most dominant ingredients being just kale, quinoa, and added salmon, 20 bucks seemed steep for what you get. On the other hand, my wife's pork bagel sandwich, which comes with side of fingerling potatoes, was a very hearty meal and generous portion, especially at that price. We ended up boxing half to go.
The only complaints I have and reason I removed one star, pertain to my wife's matcha latte. When she ordered it, she asked our server if he can make it "hot, hot" as we drink our teas pretty hot. He replied that since he will be making the drink, he can do that for her. When the latte came out, it definitely wasn't "hot, hot" or even hot really. It was closer to warm. Second complaint is she ordered the latte with almond milk. No issue with that until the bill came and we noticed a $0.75 upcharge for the almond milk. We don't recall seeing on the menu an upcharge for this nor did our waiter mention it when she ordered. Not a huge deal, we just weren't expecting it.
The staff were great. Our server, Trevor, was super friendly and attentive. I recommend giving this eatery a try. I wouldn't order the grain bowl again, but the pork bagel is a must!!
