My husband and I had our destination wedding celebration at ERC and it absolutely surpassed our expectations! We stayed for a week with my adult children, while the majority of our 30 guests stayed 3-4 nights. Every one of our guests mentioned how much they loved the resort, how beautiful it is and how friendly all the staff is. ||We worked with Monserrat (Wedding Coordinator) for our wedding and she is wonderful! So kind, warm, calm and helpful. Be prepared that communication can be slow until it is closer to your wedding date, but In Monserrat We Trust. We had a couple of odd requests and she went above and beyond to get them for us. She is an absolute Rock Star!! ||We did do a site visit about 6 months prior to the wedding where we got to meet the vendors and have an incredible tasting with Monserrat to finalize our food choices, along with other items we had already decided on. If you are able to do this, I highly recommend it. Once you meet Monserrat and see the process in person, you will understand how much of a system they have in place and how organized and on top of everything they are. It is also helpful to have firsthand familiarity with the resort to help guide your guests and answer any questions.||My dream had always been to have a "toes in the sand" wedding and that dream was realized! They have a beautiful beach "gazebo" for the ceremony, an elevated "lounge" for the cocktail hour, and a different section of beach that they set up with a full bar, DJ booth, dance floor, cafe lights and tables. It was a beautiful night with a big moon in a clear sky, with the waves gently lapping on the shore.....we couldn't have asked for a more perfect location! ||Our arrival to the resort was made extra special by Gustavo, who is so friendly and funny! We always enjoyed a good laugh and kind words whenever we would run into him throughout our stay. ||At the Excellence Club pool(s)/beach, we were so happy to see Fernanda, who we had gotten to know on our previous trip. She is such a sweet, helpful and genuine person and it was so great to see her smiling face after our ceremony.||The only slight downside to the resort is that all of the resort information is on their app, including restaurant menus, so you always have to have a phone on you. But it seems that is becoming something of the norm now. ||Food at the resort is overall very good. Some better than others, but we had incredible food at Chez Isabelle, Magna and Spice. The chilaquiles for breakfast are a favorite!||We stayed in an Excellence Club Oceanfront Rooftop Terrace room and it was great! Pool on the terrace was a little chilly, but the space is large and the seating is comfy and quite private. If you're early risers, highly recommend heading up there to watch the sun come up, it's beautiful!||A huge thank you to all of the staff for making our wedding celebration so wonderful!

Amazing experience. This was our first all inclusive vacation and it couldn’t have been better. The people, food, entertainment, drinks, and weather were all incredible! There wasn’t a bad meal, but Chez Isabelle was our favorite restaurant. Fernando was so great, we went back multiple times to have him as our server. All the entertainment (during the day and evening shows) were great. They put a lot of effort into making it fun and interactive. It was fun chatting with the entertainment crew around the resort whenever we’d see them.

We had a fantastic vacation at ERC! All the staff are friendly and helpful. Arriving Gustavo made us feel very welcome. We had never been since the new Magna excellence cub lounge was built and that was a real treat! The Magna lounge is awesome! Very upscale. Abner was our waiter for breakfast. He was very attentive. Dinner was also nice at Magna, both Juan’s were great and the food was 10 stars. We really enjoyed meeting people and socializing in the Magna bar. The whole resort was clean and beautiful. We found the beach to be very clean but we spent most days at the lazy river where Santos kept our drinks filled! The nightly entertainment was fun and Marino was always around to bring a Chocolatini when we asked. Carlos was our waiter at the kitchen and he helped us navigate the app. We were happy for Beatrice to get to have a vacation but we really missed seeing her. All in all we love this resort and look forward to coming again soon.

This is our second time at Excellence Rivera. One of the main reasons we came back to this location was to see Mabel at the Club pool. We spend all day at the pool being treated like royalty all because of Mabel. Her love for the guests stands out and she has a smile so contagious you can’t help but love her. Your drink is never empty and your belly is always full. She will make sure of that! She never stops checking on her people and if she feels like you need a little more attention she will sit down next to you and chat for a minute. She genuinely cares about her guests. Tomas at Spice restaurant is pretty special too. His service is outstanding and he is very attentive. We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite this time and it was absolutely amazing! We’ve stayed at other Excellence Resorts and this one by far is our favorite. Mabel has been at the resort for 20 years and Tomas has been at the resort for 14 years. Their longevity should tell you about their work ethic, loyalty and character. Because of Mabel and Tomas we will definitely be back again and again.

My wife and I were very pleased during our week-long stay at the Excellence Riviera Cancun in mid-February. We have been to number of all-inclusive resorts in Mexico, and this one stood out on several counts. The Excellence staff was outstanding, always welcoming, helpful, pleasant, and cheerful. The grounds were beautifully landscaped, and the facilities were meticulously clean. Finding open loungers near the pool had been an issue at other crowded resorts we have visited, but never a problem here. We liked that no reservations were required at most restaurants. We made reservations for the special Valentine’s Day dinner at the French restaurant, which we found outstanding, and for the Teppanyaki dinner, which was delicious and entertaining. We ate at the buffet restaurant often for breakfast and lunch, and the food selection and quality was superior to other resorts we have visited. While we encountered an occasional food issue such as tough lamb, we just ordered something else, and overall found the food very good and often excellent. The French restaurant was our favorite, and we returned three times for dinner, including for my 70th birthday celebration. We did not attend the evening shows and so cannot comment on them. We stayed on the third floor in the building Spa 2 in a room overlooking the pool, and found in relaxing to sit on our patio balcony enjoying the quiet, and the relaxing music drifting from the Spa. We highly recommend this resort for travelers like us, looking for a relaxing vacation with excellent food in beautiful surroundings.

We had the most fantastic dining experience at Agave in the Riviera Excellence Resort, and it was all thanks to William! From start to finish, he provided top-tier service - thoughtful, attentive, and genuinely friendly. He recommended the absolute best dishes, kept our drinks full without us even having to ask, and made sure we had everything we needed for a perfect evening. Not only was the food incredible, but William’s service took the experience to another level. His professionalism, warm personality, and impeccable attention to detail make him an invaluable asset to the team. If you’re dining at Agave, ask for William - you won’t be disappointed! Huge thanks as well to Geronimo for his excellent service and teamwork. The entire experience was seamless, and we’ll definitely be back.

About a 10 minute drive from the airport. Gorgeous rooms, great service and amazing views. Would most definitely come back. The food was out of this world delicious, no matter what you picked! Food portions are perfect, Lobster house crab cakes…order a few if you’re wanting to share! Lazy River pool was my favorite spot, they had all types of activities going on throughout the day if you choose to participate. You’ll never be without a drink from all the waiters walking around checking in on everyone. Wonderful vacation.

My wife and I have had the most wonderful stay at Excellence Resort for the second year! The staff has been great… housekeeping has attended to our every need, the groundskeepers, pool staff, and maintenance are always working to keep things in great shape! We have always had delicious food and great service in all the restaurants, and the pool bar servers, like Arely and Elizabeth have kept us in drinks! Mexican Mark has kept us entertained and laughing, especially with our fun game of pool Blackjack! I wish we had kept the names of all the wonderful staff who have added to our time! Thank you Excellence for our wonderful stay! See you again in ‘26!!!

Yelp
This is a wonderful resort! Their service is generally very good and their activities crew is very fun! I do wish that it was a bit easier to get into restaurants. They do not do reservations so, you have to show up 20-30 mins early to ensure you eat in a timely manner. We found the later you went to dinner, the longer it would take to get through and the service dropped off a bit. My favorite restaurant is Spice which has excellent Japanese / Asian food! There are a few things that this resort could improve on but, overall a great place to spend a vacation

Kerra S.

Yelp
Amazing experience. Came over thanksgiving break and the service was incredible. You're greeted with a glass of champagne and quick tour of the resort before being let free! There's multiple high-end restaurants, lots of bars inside and outside the pools, coffee shops, buffets, shops... it really has it all! We loved the mini bar in our room with wine, sodas, candies, etc. room service was great and timely everyday. And our favorite part was the amazing thanksgiving buffet and show they held at the resort. Only a few things I think could be improved: 1) more things to do. There was volleyball, bingo, shows, etc, but most of the day had no events planned or happening. 2) make taxis more affordable, or the process more clear. There are political issues around Ubers which we were not aware of, but were told we had no other choice but paying $60 for a 10 minute taxi drive one way... Overall very nice place and would recommend to anyone looking for a beautiful get away

Yelp
Very nice resort, this is our second time. Check in process was straightforward and simple. We did have a small snafu when checking in that made us question the top dollar we paid. The food is generally good but the steaks at The Grill are a little tough. The Indian food at Basmati is great as is the food at Oregano and The Lobster House.

Ravon H.

Yelp
Overall I enjoyed my stay at this resort. Plenty of activities but it's for the more a mature crowd. The service was the best part. All the staff members are super friendly and always accommodating. I noticed a big difference from when I arrived on a Monday, it wasn't very crowded and I never had to wait long for for or drinks. On Thursday a slew of people began arriving. Most placed to eat were packed and I started seeing lines at the bars. Each day they had a schedule of activities around the resort. I did the morning bike ride, bracelet making, and piña loca cocktail demonstration. I didn't venture off the resort for much since everything was inclusive and it had everything I needed. Each evening they had live music and a show. I stayed up to watch a few shows and was entertained. It's the same performers but different themes each night. While I was there I tried Spice, Agave, Oregano, the Grill, and The Lobster House restaurants. The Grill and Lobster House were my favorites. It was probably because I went earlier in the week before all the restaurants got crowded. Thursday and Friday service was slow at the other places. Spice had to be my least favorite food did not taste fresh and authentic. I hear that the hibachi show was good, but it was all booked up for the entire week that I known I would have made reservations earlier when I first arrived. The resort itself was beautiful and well-maintained. Staff members were constantly cleaning and doing improvements around the property for my entire stay. But it was never too noisy. I can't wait to come back. If you are young and want a vibrant night life this isn't for you. Most of the amenities around the resort close at 10 or 11 PM. The sports bar is the only thing that stays open late and that closes at midnight.

Yelp
Can I move in? I have been to the Excellence a few times now and each time it just keeps getting better. Booking was incredibly easy and transportation is now included to and from the airport. They have ten restaurants, multiple bars that are open throughout the day, and activities throughout the day that are 100% optional. All of this easily tracked in the app. The rooms are incredibly spacious and each have their own balcony. Your room comes with a fully stocked mini fridge and bar. Housekeeping comes by a few times a day at your discretion. I opted for a massage at the spa - extra - but 100000% worth it. A 75 minute treatment comes with a hydro experience. The staff are incredibly friendly and professional. I can't wait to go back!

Salvatore V.

Yelp
As soon as I rolled into the resort from the car service, I was warmly welcomed. 4 glasses of champagne were waiting for my friends and I. The front desk check-in experience went super smoothly. Although, the rooms weren't ready on an account we got there earlier. We went to grab food at the lobster house. Service was prompt. And as soon as we finished up we were able to settle into our rooms. Variety of food was a plus, prompt service and especially the bartenders who were super friendly. I already want to plan another trip back!

Yelp
Came here for my friends birthday and had the best time! Has a nice mix of lively spots and quiet peaceful areas. All staff were incredible, attentive, and kind! Big shout out to Santos in the pool bar- he makes the best drinks! Will absolutely be returning next vacation :)

Lysa B.

Yelp
All service was awesome !!! From Ricardo the bellhop who ensured my luggage was securely seen to my room. Angelo and Erick (Trainee) for providing the best entertainment/ experience service!! Also to Pedro at the concierge desk who ensured our overall experience was THE BEST!!!!

Yelp
This was my husband and I's 6th (11/1-11/7) trip to ERC for our anniversary and his birthday. We brought along another couple it was their first visit. The resort is kept extremely clean and employees work around the clock to keep it this way. We did have one issue with the room at arrival, it was extremely musty and smelt very strongly of mold in building 6 our favorite building. We were moved to another room, which was fine. Leylan is the MVP at this resort. I always look forward to seeing her! What a pleasure. She doesn't miss a beat and was so accommodating to us. Checking in with us almost every day to ensure our stay was excellent. I do think that some of the rooms need some updating , but nonetheless the housekeeping was on top of it and did an incredible job. Food was excellent. We never had a bad meal. #1 probably being Chez, followed by the Grill, and Agave. Oregano was very good as well, we sat up too which was nice. Benjamin was a lovely server! Hope to see him next visit. Room service left a little to be desired, but I know that can be a difficult thing when the resort is very full. Antonio took amazing care of us by the pool most of the days look for him!! Edson also was fantastic serving us by the pool the other days. Jorge is our long time buddy there, whether at the Martini Bar or prelude he always looks out for us and provides top notch service. And makes delicious cocktails. I did feel that the people that seemed to complain received "rewards" of some capacity, which I understand the resort wanting to accommodate, but I also think the people who come year after year should get some special treatment as well. All in all our favorite resort and it feels like Home

Yelp
We stayed at Excellence Riviera Cancun in August 2023. Let me break down my review per topic. Food: The food was hit or miss. Basmati was absolutely the best restaurant. The food there was so flavorful. The poolside food and room service were not that great. I do wish there were more lunch options. The restaurant on the beach was not good food. We ended up getting pizza at the bar for lunch the rest of the days and taking it over to where we were sitting near the pool. Room: We had a jr suite in building 7 (Excellence Club Building) and it was super nice! We had a big balcony that overlooked the main pool. The air was always on and felt cool. The housekeeping was perfect; new towels, sheets turned down for bed, cute little towel animals and chocolates always waiting for us at the end of the day. Warning to watch out for the coffee table! It's wood with a glass top and the corners are sharp. I hit my thigh on it and it left a nasty cut and bruise. Airport transportation: This service was perfect. Our flight was 2 hours delayed and we panicked thinking we would have to get our own transportation but the driver was still there waiting for us. The car was a clean suburban with a nice driver. We felt safe and appreciated the professionalism of the driver. Excellence Club: We paid a little extra for the excellence club and I would do it again. We liked having the opportunity to try Magna restaurant. It felt special when we checked in at the excellence club area. It felt very VIP. The only thing was that anyone can go to the excellence club pools. There are no gates and no one checks to see if you are actually an excellence club member. Also it came with the hydrotherapy session at the spa and that was a fun, interesting experience. While there we added on a body scrub and scalp massage and it was a great experience. Special Occasions: We booked this trip to celebrate our ten year wedding anniversary. I told them that when booking and they said we could get the complimentary anniversary package. During the hotel check in, they gave us a card to use at any restaurant to bypass the wait, a special dessert and bottle of wine. When we presented the card the night of our anniversary at Chez Isabel we still waited over 45 minutes and it was a regular dinner experience like the other nights. We were a bit disappointed because the night before we saw another couple use the card and the outstanding service they got; the chef even came out to present them with a special dessert and wish them happy anniversary. My husband told the manager about our experience and he made it right. He sent a beautiful dessert up to our room. Entertainment: There is more then enough stuff to do throughout the day! I had planned for so many activities but time got away from us. The daytime activities are fun and the nighttime entertainment is awesome! After the night entertainment wraps up, we spend a couple hours at the sports bar to play pool and dance to the dj. Overall this place is amazing. You will enjoy your stay! The staff is fabulous; every single employee was so kind, nice and provided exceptional service. You do not need to know Spanish, however it will be beneficial and easier if you do. Side note, fellas if you forget to pack pants you can get a pair of loaners for free at concierge that way you can abide the dress code for the fancier restaurants. The iguanas running all over the place was really cool to see. There is a pathway that goes around the entire area of the resort; I highly suggest walking that. We really enjoyed walking that path and looking at everything. It's so tropical, romantic and beautiful.

Krystalynn S.

Yelp
the absolute worst experience i have ever had. do not go here. nothing is as advertised. not all inclusive. scam of a business. loud music playing all night long so loud you cannot sleep. it was so bad we left the next day and flew back home. do not go here you will regret it!

Travis C.

Yelp
Easily the best resort we've been to in Cancun. Great food and even greater service. The staff is amazing! So friendly and always very happy to help you in any way possible. I highly recommend upgrading to the excellence club level. This gives you access to a private bar and restaurant along with a private pool and outdoor bar. The outdoor bar is called Cielo and be sure to say hello to Fernanda, Moises, Felipe, Areli, Elizabeth, Amable who provided us amazing service. Also I have to say how great Gustavo and Paola were during the check in process. Highly recommended!

Brittany S.

Yelp
The entertainment team at this resort is the best! They remember you from year to year and they make all of the activities fun!!! Shout-out to Angelo, Eric and Chris!! The only reason I give a 4 out of 5 instead of a 5 this time is the food was good but not as good as it was in the past! It was still yummy, but we did have better here in years past. Shout-out to Santos the best waiter at the pool! He is quick and efficient and he remembers your orders and remembers you from years past too! All in all one of our favorite places! We will be back next year!!!

Sarah P.

Yelp
I really wanted to love ERC given my previous standout experience at their boutique sister property Beloved Playa Mujeres. My partner and I enjoyed our stay despite a few significant hiccups, but won't rebook anytime soon. The good? - Several servers were outstanding, particularly Matilde by the quiet pool and Amable on the Excellence Club beach. - The food was above average for an all-inclusive. You have to find your go-to items, but when you do, you'll be happy. A few of the best: anything at Chez Isabelle; the eggplant parmesan, Tre Formaggi pizza, and tiramisu at Oregano; the shrimp starter and steak portion of the surf and turf at The Lobster House; the queso fundido at Agave; and the raspberry tartlets at Aroma. - The grounds are well-maintained and lush. You'll also happen upon some fantastic wildlife, including loads of iguanas, a feral cat colony, super-cute coatis, agoutis, and colorful birds. - The evening entertainment is a mix of silly cheese (Rock Show), talented musicians (Claudia Trevino), a surprisingly solid circus night, and a ridiculously fun silent disco experience. - The bed is comfy and they offer lots of pillow options. The not-so-great? - The rooms are dated and dinged up, but more importantly, the HVAC is not set properly so ours remained uncomfortably damp and overly moldy smelling. Even with a dehumidifier we requested on day two and ran 24/7, the room hovered around 70% or higher humidity and felt quite warm. All of our belongings now have a strong mildew odor that we cannot get out of them. We understand that Cancun is tropical, and we've never had anything like this happen at other properties along the Maya Riviera coast. If you have asthma or mold allergies, I cannot in good conscience recommend that you stay here. - The housekeeping was poor. Beyond remaking the bed, changing out towels, and replacing drinks in the fridge, they never provided more toiletries and did not clean the space. Our floors and surfaces were untouched the entire time. They also came at wildly different times of day, so it was hard to anticipate when to vacate and return to our room. - The hotel policies were not upheld very well. Folks claimed loungers early in the morning and left them empty almost all day, giving people who arrived after 8am few, if any, choices for seating. Guests would vape right in front of staff and no word was spoken. - We sat on the beach for over 90 minutes and never received any service. Similarly, we had several meals that dragged on and on due to slow service. It seems like maybe the resort was understaffed? - Some of the food and drink was pretty abysmal. I'd avoid The Grill if you are even remotely a foodie. Room service is hit or miss. Mocktails are not ERC's strong suit. I haven't written off the Excellence collection just yet. I'm open to trying another of their properties in the future, but don't plan to return to ERC until they do a big renovation and get their HVAC worked out.

Yelp
I would 1,000% recommend Excellence Riviera to anyone looking for the perfect vacation!!!! I don't even know where to begin... from their top tier service, to the abundant food and restaurant options, to the delicious cocktails, the amenities, shows, and the resort beauty- the best experience, seriously! If you want to be taken care of by the sweetest people, not have to worry about a thing, and have some fun in the sun or just chill out using one of their many day beds, look no further. It was elegant, luxurious, and relaxing. I haven't had a vacation like this EVER. We stayed at the end of April for 4 nights and I wish we could have stayed longer. There was not one thing we were disappointed about. Their attention to detail and hospitality is exceptional! We cannot wait to return!

Shanika G T.

Yelp
I had the time of my life! My group and I were greeted with fresh cool towels and champagne. We arrived a tad bit early and were able to get squared away at the front desk. They texted us once our room was ready. While we waited we headed to Las Olas. The drinks were refreshing. I didn't care for the tacos but the service was great. I headed to oregano to get food. The mahi-mahi was so amazing that I ended up going back again another time during the trip. After lunch, we were taken to our room. We were in building 6, so it was a very far walk. The room was beautiful. Very clean and the mini bar was masterfully stocked. There were 4 full sized bottles of alcohol provided. A rum, vodka, Tequila, and wine. After check in we headed to the bar and pool. The main bar in the downstairs lobby has the greatest bartender. I believe his name was Juan. He made every drink of mine to perfection. The poolside bar was not fully stocked so I got most drinks fun this bar. We headed to dinner at the Lobster house. We were seated immediately. We all ordered Lobster. Unfortunately, it was severely overcooked and chewy. We did not enjoy it and did not return to this restaurant again. Next day, we had room service for breakfast. It was awesome. I had an egg white omelet with veggies. Everything was perfect and it only took 30 minutes to arrive. The food truck is perfect for a midday meal when you don't want to get dressed for a sit down meal. The tacos and chicken sandwiches will have you keep coming back. There are shows every day and night. The coconut show was my favorite and you left with a pretty amazing coconut drink. We watched the Michael Jackson show at night and it was entertaining. The silent disco party was my favorite. The Djs were epic. The pool with the bar is the best hang out spot to party. When the dj comes, it's a great time. I wish the dj stayed longer. Highlights from of the restaurants: The kitchen table was serving the food from spice at night. The sushi and hibachi were delicious. Chez Isabelle was hands down everyone's favorite. Be sure to adhere to the dress code as they are strict. I had the salmon and frecg onion soup. The only regret I had was not eating there everyday. Service was excellent all around, food was good for the most part, drinks are top shelf and great. Entertainment was nice. The vibe was amazing. We will definitely come back again and again and again!!

Yelp
My wife and I spent 5 nights here at the beginning of August and wished we could've stayed longer! I'll preface this review by saying I wish I could've left 4.5 stars, but I'm rounding it up to 5 because the positives severely outweigh the negatives. First off, the resort is BEAUTIFUL. Meticulously kept by the staff, every guest area felt clean and welcoming (minus the tons of seaweed on the beach but not much you can do about that)... the staff members were all INCREDIBLY friendly, and we had fun interacting with all of them. They seriously treat you like royalty here. The resort itself has a decent amount of things to do (aside from the like 6 pools and numerous bars). Daily activities that are scheduled, as well as things you can do at your own pace (kayaks, snorkeling, etc). And yes, the bars are open around the clock! The food was very good. Some things were better than others, but nothing really stood out as "bad" so have at it! Some highlights were for sure the French, Mexican and Italian restaurants, and definitely the breakfast buffet. Remember, it's all inclusive so feel free to try everything! The ONE negative is we experienced VERY slow service at some of the restaurants (looking at you, Tapas). Long waits for our waiter, the food, and in one case completely messing up our order... It only seemed to happen at the sit-down restaurants though. This was my first ever all-inclusive vacation, and it DEFINITELY won't be my last! In fact, I'm sure I'll be back here at some point too.

Jerome L.

Yelp
If I could give this place 10 stars I would in a heartbeat! This was one of the best trip experiences of my life, and that says a lot given I've also been to places like Maui and Amsterdam. But with the all inclusive 5 star service and top notch restaurants, ERC is super hard to beat! If you're looking for a luxurious but laid back all inclusive adults only resort that is spread out and not your typical stacked high rise hotel, look no further. Everyone working here seems genuinely happy and friendly! Did I mention the food and free drinks???? The resort is laid out beautifully and the iguanas, a cat, birds, and a rare coati you might spot all make you feel at home. Plus Amy was the best and most helpful activity staff member you can possibly find at a resort. But here are a few minor suggestions (that don't take away from my 5 star at all) for minor improvements: 1. The room service food took a long time and wasn't good. That said all the restaurants were delicious and you really don't need to order room service food. 2. The drinks seemed inconsistent at times from one bar to the next, where some weren't as stiff and tasty as others. But after a few drinks it really doesn't matter. 3. The activities info (where to meet, the times and how to participate) seemed a little inconsistent at times as well. This could be caused by a language barrier (although I will eventually learn conversational Spanish someday). Overall- still I would give this place 10 stars! We will definitely be back!!! P.S. be sure to book the lazy River swim up junior suite! You won't regret it!

Cristianna B.

Yelp
DRINKS/BAR The alcoholic drinks are not great. There aren't very many choices for beer or wine and the champagne is definitely the cheapest they could find. The cocktails were watered down and everyone was joking that you needed to ask the bartenders for an extra shot every time. The bar tenders weren't friendly unless you gave them a bit of money and even then they seemed less than thrilled to be there. However, Felipe and Elio at the pool area bar were fantastic and really upped our experience at the resort. Even before we asked them for anything or gave them money they were so friendly and felt like friends! ENTERTAINMENT/ACTIVITIES The daily activities were regular but led by a super fun entertainment team!! They kept us busy and happy all day long with volleyball, bingo, team beach & pool games, trivia, water poker etc. Gustavo, Erick, and Cris were so happy and made our vacation so much more fun than it would have been without them. They also gave amazing prizes! We had so much fun with them! The night shows and entertainment were great. Very enjoyable. They had 2 nights of silent disco that were SO FUN! They had a casino night, a circus show, Mexican fiesta night, African dancing show, karaoke of course and more! Everyone loved it!! The resort also had a constant rotation of musicians around the pool and in the evening which was so enjoyable! We were seriously entertained all day with dancing, games, live music, and shows. RESTAURANT/FOOD The best thing about this resort was the food! AMAZING AMAZING FOOD at every restaurant. Especially, SPICE, the Asian restaurant and the French restaurant. We were amazed! We asked for Padrón at the Kitchen table and Oregano every time we went because his service was out of this world! Also, the beach restaurant has wings and ribs that were great!! ROOM The A.C. In our room was just ok. The cleaning of the rooms was stellar and they did turn-down service which we loved! They made me a special birthday gift too! The resort is incredibly clean and well run all around. It's definitely an older room/resort. Our key card stopped working SO many times and we had to wait 15 minutes for someone to come to our room to let us in. They said you can't let your key card touch water, your phone, or credit cards which was so hard to achieve at a beach resort! All in all you can tell it's old but they have tried hard to keep it up, it's just lacking the newness and beauty of a newer resort. We probably wouldn't go back to this resort, because the beach had no waves and looked like a dirty swamp, which we were told that it normally is prettier than that, but it had gotten really bad seaweed the week we went, It smelled pretty terrible and no one got into the beach while we were there, if they did it wasn't for long. The alcohol was bad enough that we probably would add that to reasons not to go back. All around though the food and entertainment made up for it!

Yelp
This is the first major trip my husband and I took during the pandemic and it was a blast! We came here for a friends wedding and stayed five nights. I have to add that neither my husband nor I were drinking at the time of the trip, so I won't be able to comment on alcoholic drinks. The Great: the servers were awesome and super helpful. Everyone that worked there went out of their way to help, make sure we didn't need anything, checked in with us. They even called the day before our check out to coordinate getting our bags taken to transport service. The wood fire pizza at the bar by the beach....chef's kiss. If I could have ate that for every meal, I probably would have. The Good: The Asian restaurant and the Lobster House were our favorite sit down restaurants. We did not do hibachi, but liked the fried rice and sushi. At the lobster house I had a special that included and assortment of seafood, all very good. There are many places to sit on the beach. You do need to get there early to get a spot, but we always were able to get plenty of room together for our large group. The Not So Good: The food overall was pretty...meh.... Everything just tasted slightly off. We went to lunch at the kitchen when we arrived and our food was BAD. Rubbery shrimp, weird Alfredo and ranch. Like really bad. Room service took multiple hours, so you're better off either calling hours before you want it or going out. Overall, I would definitely go again. We had a lot of fun, loved the service, and once we figured out where the best food spots were, we were happy!

Yelp
We stayed at the Excellence Riviera Maya for 6 nights in December 2022 for our honeymoon. The resort was large, had tons of things to do on site and was very clean. The staff were so friendly, always going above and beyond. There were a variety of delicious food and drink options. We did three excursions through the resort- Isla Muejeres, ATVs & swimming in a cenote, and two person speed boat snorkeling. We enjoyed all three excursions!

Yelp
This was my first time being out of the country and this place did not disappoint. Upon arrival, the staff give you cold towels and a glass of champagne. The staff is friendly and informative. There are multiple restaurants and bars in which are open most of the day with exceptional service. The breakfast buffet is the best out of all of them. There is entertainment shows nightly and live bands that perform in which you can dance if you like. Everything is clean and the food/drinks is great. They also have excursions you can book, in which the staff does all for you, you just say what excursion you want to do. Very impressed with this hotel, I had a lovely time here.

Yelp
Had an awesome stay here this week with besties! It's an all inclusive resort so we didn't have to worry about anything. We also upgraded to a swim up room so we could hang outside and easily access the bar or bathroom. The staff was excellent all around! So many restaurants to choose from or we could of stayed in and just ordered room service. They even have nightly events which were great fun! From a fire show, silent disco to a casino night with live music. All around, too notch and will stay with excellence again!

Yelp
We love this resort.. it was our fifth time this recent visit! We never have an issue checking in and it's always pretty quick with bellhop doing the labor work of hauling your luggage to your room. We even were able to get a drink from the martini bar by the time the bellhop met us. We got assigned a corner room which was nice but in the furthest building from the lobby area. Walking to and from was kind of annoying but it was quieter. My only complaint is against housekeeping which wasn't up to par from previous visits. Some days they just simply skipped us and we would have to contact front desk. Several times they left nasty rags on our toilet seat and bath tubs. Probably cleaning too quick and didn't notice. It's not something I want to return to for having a supposedly "clean" room. Another time our sink was not drained from them cleaning it. They need to slow down and be more attentive. It just turned us off. We noticed the rooms are getting more runned down. Our air conditioner was not blowing at full potential and our room never got cold like previous visits. Soon all rooms will need renovating. Until then, we may hold off on another visit soon. Entertainment, food buffet, restaurants & overall resort cleanliness was top-notch!

Yelp
I love this place. It's been a minute since I've been thanks to COVID, but for a few years this was an annual trip. I've been with a group of 10 people, but definitely prefer when it's just a couples thing. The resort is set up to be a little more intimate and it's hard to coordinate bigger groups. The staff is always on their A game- full of great customer service. The drinks are excellent and I loved the variety of restaurants. They have free group activities during the day (pre-COVID) and different pop up programming in certain parts of the resort which is always a fun surprise. Of course you also have the night entertainment. I'll be honest most of the time we opted to have dinner when everyone else was watching the shows, but the ones we did see were all very entertaining. I look forward to the day when I get to return!

Yelp
Beautiful property and wonderful service. We really enjoyed our stay. Rooms were clean and spacious. Staff was kind and attentive. Entertainment was pretty good for not being a party resort. Food was pretty good and there's a variety of restaurants and bars. Check in and check out was quick and efficient. We loved the little coffee shop for our midday iced coffee and small dessert. So delicious! Overall, I think I enjoyed the Beloved property (same ownership) a little better though this resort is very nice. Cons- The beach has a lot of seaweed even though the staff rakes every morning. This can cause gross fishy smells throughout the resort. Wish there was someone going around on the beach asking about kayaking or taking the small boat out. We were interested, but couldn't find anyone to ask. Pools were a little dirty and had bees floating around.

Yelp
Our stay at the Excellence Riviera Cancún, was a great destination wedding location, a great location for groups, honeymooning couples, couples celebrating an anniversary, or just to enjoy a relaxing, and a dreamy vacation location. Upon arrival we were greeted with a glass of champagne, which was an amazing start to our Excellence experience. We booked our stay including the Excellent experience, which provides more perks to enhance your experience, stay with the Excellence Rivera Cancún. With the Excellence package, the bar in our room was fully with top tier liquors included with the Excellence package, we were treated with a sample dessert each evening, our bed, and room looked amazing each time we returned from being out, and about for the day's activities. The staff made us cute little towel animals every day. We booked the King bed swim up room, which had a patio, and a day bed lounger with the swim out pool feature. The pool staff is amazing, and kept the snacks, and drinks coming. The restaurant selection was great, only one complaint about the restaurants within the resort. The reasoning behind the 4 star vs 5 review, would be due to the lack of spice on any of the dishes we ordered. Not a jalapeño in sight at any of these restaurants. The solution provided by the resort was bringing to the table a habanero paste, for the consumer to add to their personal dish. Outside of that, the entertainment, service, cleanliness of the resort, and rooms, amenities, and resort made for an amazing trip to celebrate my son's destination wedding. We will be returning to the Excellence Rivera Cancún Resort again in the future.

Yelp
Well today is my first day here. I'm here for a wedding. So everybody has been super nice and all but the reason I rate it a 3 is because of food quality and speediness of service. The food here is bland and the portions are small. I can get around the fact that the portions are small but when they aren't seasoned, well you really don't want anything else. And to top off my 3 star rating, as I mentioned, the speed of service is really slow. My wedding party was a group of about 16 people and the whole party got sat at different times. One group of people were sat at a table and then 20mins later the other half. And they even tried spitting us up into 3 different tables. Like why??! It was this place called BASMATI. We waited almost 2 hours for food. I was full from water and bread by the time the real food came out. And it didn't have great flavor. I dont regularly eat Indian food so I'm sure my opinion of the food items seems critical but the first impression means a lot and I was NOT impressed. If that's what I have to look forward to when eating any Indian cuisine, I'll never eat it again in my life. I dont have pictures because I was so fed up with the situation but I got the chicken soup..yuck...the chicken Marsala it was bland. I feel it could have been good with more seasonings and SALT...but yuck....and the vegetable biryani...bland as hell. .

Yelp
I spent a lot of time trying to find an adults only hotel with a lazy river and I am sooo glad I found Excellence through that search. There's so much to say about this place: they had activities going on basically all day, there were enough pools to keep everyone spaced out and the grounds are so beautiful. The some of the nightly entertainment was pretty cheesy, but seemed to be popular. The food, however, was the worst part of the experience. Very much lacked flavor and was just blah. Typically I would avoid returning to a place with sub par food but I think I would come back because everything else at Excellence was THAT excellent. Overall I had a very positive experience and I strongly suggest splurging for a Swim Up Suite. I didn't think I'd use the "swim up" aspect but I ended up utilizing it often. The swim up suite patios are super nice and have large daybeds so that you don't have to worry about someone stealing your poolside seat in the middle of the day. Misc Highlights: - Lots of beautiful birds and a few small animals roaming about... NO MOSQUITOES. There was so many plants but no pesky bugs. I don't know what they do there but it was noticeable that there were no bugs - Very quick room service - No use of single use plastics - Great fitness center with lots of equipment - Property constantly had ample staff keeping the grounds clean and landscaping perfect. Everything was spotless - Ample day bed space on the beach

Yelp
Adults only resort. Beautiful ocean view. Excellent food. Don't want to go back home.

Yelp
This review is for our experience as guests for a wedding that took place here. We did not book a room here but rather at Hotel La Palma Beachfront for a fraction of the price and we are glad we did that because it was honestly much better. Was it technically as nice or as fancy? Definitely not, but this hotel is honestly too nice for my taste and it ended up feeling pretty soulless. You have to take a long road to get here and it feels like you are entering a private island. Some people may like this, I personally did not. This Hotel is the only thing for miles and it's clear they did that on purpose so that you eat here and don't go anywhere else. We personally preferred La Palma because it's in a central location with a lot of restaurants and night life. This on the other hand feels like you are stuck here. Upon approaching the front desk to "Check in" to our wedding we witnessed an upset man who was told to not cut the line by a rather irritated hotel receptionist. This was the vibe right away, we had to wait in line despite not being guests here and witness some drama. We then were approached by a kind man who was coordinating the wedding but it was unclear at first if he worked for this hotel. He told us we could look around a little after we checked into our wedding event. When it was our turn finally we had to get these weird wristbands that had to be clipped onto our wrists with plyers. I thought this was odd and unnecessary. From the moment we arrived we sort of felt like prisoners. They then made us give them our IDs and without informing us of any privacy policy scanned them and printed out copies of them! All of this felt unnecessary and an invasion of privacy. They also said they had to keep our IDs until the wedding was over. Great, so once we are drunk we are just supposed to remember to come get them at the front desk? As far as being able to "look around" we tried walking around and went no more than 20 feet until a hotel worker asked us what we were doing and I got the sense he didn't want us "Snooping around" and told us where to go like we had to go there and couldn't even look around. Onto the wedding. Some staff were hired from the hotel to serve drinks at the bar. This is by far the stingiest bar service I've ever had at a wedding. Small portions for drinks and before the wedding was over they closed down the bar and said they were "out of everything" despite having plenty of booze. We had to get a cab back to our hotel because there were no ubers in the area. The cab was expensive and took advantage of tourists. Overall don't stay at this overpriced and overly nice "prison"

Yelp
This is our 2nd stay at Excellence Rivera Cancun resort. This time by far exceeded our expectations. Service is excellent as always and this time we were entertained by Simeria at the pool playing Loteria & Black jack. She is so energetic and enthusiastic you can't help but want to participate! Tomorrow we join her on bike ride to Puerto Morales! Can't wait!

Yelp
Our first time in Mexico and our first time doing an all-inclusive! This place was absolutely incredible. The service, views, and spaces were wonderful. The hotel arranged a driver to pick us up from the airport, so after asking around to find him (there are a LOT of cars/busses picking people up), we were pleased to see that they'd sent a super nice car and the nicest guy ever. We had a great drive with him, sharing stories and learning about the country. Arrival: We entered the resort through a huge gate and drove up a long, beautiful driveway to our hotel. When we arrived, their team opened the doors, got our luggage out for us, and handed us each a glass of champagne. So fun! I've never felt that luxe! Their team showed us to the check-in desk and said they'd meet us in our room with our luggage. The check-in process took awhile, but we appreciated learning about all of the restaurants, the hotel app, room service, etc. They then brought us to the bar to order a drink while they brought our luggage over. We couldn't wait to go explore, as the views were stunning. Room: Our hotel room was huge, with a big jacuzzi and view of both the pool and ocean. We booked an ocean view room on their website and it was only slightly more than a non-ocean view, so be sure you choose that! The bed was comfortable, there was a loaded drink fridge (to enjoy for free), robes, good wifi connection, and a huge balcony. We couldn't believe it. We didn't get the room upgrade with walk-out pool access but didn't feel like we needed it. Most of those upgraded room daybeds were in the direct sun and we didn't mind walking downstairs to hit the pool. Pools: There is a big pool with a swim-up bar and multiple lazy-river-like pools that snake around the property. There are half-submerged lawn chairs in the pool, lawn chairs on the land, and big, covered daybeds that were super luxurious. One of the friends we were with wakes up at 5am every morning, so he'd go out and save chairs and pool rafts for our group. If we hadn't had him, we might not have been able to find a chair around the pool. Just a heads up! Early bird gets the worm when it comes to the pool. There are a ton of chairs on the beach, looking at the water that were always open, so regardless, you'll have a spot with a water view. There is a lot of seafood at the beach (not their fault), so you can really only swim in the pool. While at the pool, servers come over every 20 minutes or so to see if you need a drink. We were also able to order pizza, burgers, or nachos to the pool. The pizza was delicious! Food: Our favorite restaurants by far were Spice (sushi and hibachi), The Lobster House (on top of the pool, with breezy air and a nice view), and Flavor Market (Spanish tapas and sangria). Ironically, our least favorite by far was Agave, the Mexican restaurant. Our food wasn't flavored and we would've loved to try some really quality Mexican food. Activities: We went to a Coco Loco class where they taught everyone how to make the cocktail, and then gave them out to everyone. So fun! There was also a bingo and dance class that happened in one of the pools. Every night, there were performances with dancers or musicians, and there were even casino games one night. Very fun! Notes before you go: + Pack dressy clothes, as there is a dress code for the dinner restaurants + See if you can call ahead to book yourself in for a hibachi table or any of the free resort classes, as they're only offered on certain days and fill up. + Bring extra sunscreen and sunglasses, as they're very expensive there. + Book excursions ahead of time (highly recommend a trip to Chichen Itza and a cenote). + If you're there during whale shark season, book that too (there's a hut at the resort pool offering tours). We went on a catamaran trip to Isla Mujeres that was average, but our friends did the whale shark trip and swam with turtles and whales and said it was AMAZING. + Masks aren't required at the hotel for visitors. The staff are masked. You do have to get a negative covid test to get back in the USA, but they said that if you test positive, you can quarantine at the resort for free. Heads up!

Yelp
Our 2nd time visiting. Had a wonderful time. Arrived at 9am, changed into our swimsuits and enjoyed all the amenities until check in, which wasn't until 3....we loved Spice Restaurant and Magna the best. Food truck very good too. Pizza at Las Olas was very good too. Best drinks were at Magna club level and martini bar. Didn't really go to beach this time at resort, water was brown and seaweed. Water was beautiful our last visit in February. Did water therapy treatment at spa, very nice. So many pools we didn't miss the beach, although we did do catamaran to Isla Mujeres (definitely a must do) lots of fun entertainment for all! Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Okay where can I start. Coming from the airport to the resort was easier than I thought it would have been. Once we arrived the valet took out bags and we we got Champagne. Once we were able to check to were told to go down to the Martini bar to wait to get our bags taken to our rooms. This was my first all inclusive resort and it did not disappoint. The rain could not have stopped the group I went with. We had a ball every night we were there. From the shows to the drinks and the restaurant everything was great. If you wake up early enough in the morning I would suggest going to the breakfast buffet place downstairs! We didn't find this place until it was to late in our stay. So we only went once and regretted not going every morning we were there. I would say that this place is more so for an older crowd vacationing but I still had fun. I did not see any people who were in their 20s but who knows the resort is so big I probably just missed them all. This trip has changed the way I look at vacations now that I have experienced an all inclusive resort! *They do not have straws so either bring your own cup with a straw or a reusable one if not. Drinking a frozen drink without a straw has never been so difficult.

Candyce B.

Yelp
I am still amazed by how wonderful this resort was for our mini vacation. Our pickup and transfer from the airport was seamless. Our driver was awesome! He had water ready to go, wifi in the car and helped us with "must do" items at the resort. When we arrived to the resort we were greeted with champagne and checked in. Our room wasn't quite ready but we could immediately grab lunch and just figure out the resort. After lunch, our room was ready, our bags were taken to our room and we were ready to relax and unwind. Every restaurant we tried was amazing! Our favorite was the French but you can't go wrong with any. All the shoes and activities were a lot of fun. We also went to the spa and it is something we'd absolutely do again. The service, food and drinks were all top notch. We can't wait to go back with friends and family. If you're looking for a great getaway in Mexico I'd absolutely recommend this resort!

Charlotte H.

Yelp
I wish I could give this resort 10 stars. The food was delicious, the drinks were impressive, and the activities were endless. Our favorite parts were beach volleyball, the many winding pools, the smoothie bar, and the service, but everything else was equally great. Everyone was so kind and friendly! The cocktail list is impressive - if you can think of it they can probably make it for you. Would highly recommend this resort for honeymoons! This resort is geared towards couples, even the seating is designed for pairs or small groups. We'll definitely be coming back here!

Yelp
Excellence Riviera Maya was recommended to us by a friend and we were not disappointed. From the ease of private transportation from the airport to our final checkout, the experience was awesome. Suites - we booked a standard suite and it was wonderfully equipped and extremely clean, complete with private balcony and jacuzzi tub. We loved our room that overlooked the lazy River! All rooms come with a complementary mini bar filled with snacks and beverages that is refreshed daily, which was very convenient. Food - while we only dined outside out of an abundance for caution due to a COVID surge, we did not at all feel a lack of options or that our experience was hindered. We found service to be friendly and helpful, all atmospheres to be clean and relaxed and even the room service was delivered with extra care and accuracy. We have to give a special shout out to Salomon for ensuring we had a wonderful experience and were able to enjoy Chez Isabelle because of his attention to our enjoyment - thank you Salomon! Entertainment - there are daily activities around the resort ranging from tequila tastings to water dancing in the main pool. In the evenings every night there is a great show and most weekdays followed by karaoke. The seating around the stages is outdoors and very comfortable, we enjoyed having some cocktails and watching the shows! Bars - there are lots of beverage options at each of the bars, but our favorite was Martini. All the service was excellent, but we felt Martini had the most unique options. Also make sure you check out the swim up bar Blue in the pool - we loved their blended drinks and tropical cocktails! Staff - can't say enough good things about the staff here, they were friendly and always accommodating about even the smallest requests. Definitely a highlight of the resort. Resort and Amenities - with an abundance of pools, beach chairs, daybeds and cabanas we never felt like the resort was crowded despite being here over the New Year. The property is well maintained and the beach is pristine - only a few steps away from the buffet and always free of excess seaweed and debris (you really notice when walked past the other resorts how much better Excellence takes care of their beachfront). We loved the resort layout and the lush tropical foliage and wildlife (iguanas, lizards and the occasional cat) that completed our walks to and from the amenities. Overall we loved our stay and would highly recommend you try Excellence for your stay in Cancun! Great value, lovely amenities and relaxing atmosphere.

Yelp
This was our first trip to a Excellence resort. What a amazing experience. We celebrated our 38. Wedding anniversary. Many of the restaurants We're aware of this and they brought us specialty items and treated us with kindness and respect. They made us feel special. The person who made us feel so special. What is the manager of oregano, Cesar! Special thanks to him and his staff. Also Carolina from the restaurant flavor market made our stay especially special.

Brooke J.

Yelp
Absolutely fabulous. By far the best trip I have ever been on. Food was amazing, drinks were excellent, but what made it for me WAS THE STAFF!!! A few shout-outs are much needed: - Angelo - dance/drink instructor. Absolutely hilarious, welcoming, friendly, makes you feel special and like you've known him for years! Also unbelievable dance moves. Felt like I could ditch my friends and stay with him all day and still have the time of my life. - Carlos - drink instructor. Incredible. Funny, outgoing, and cares about you. Remembers your name (amongst hundreds of others, and no I didn't do anything special). Asked about the seasoning on the rim of the drinks and he said it was Tajin and he said he would buy me a bottle after work. I figured he'd forget, but he didn't! Next day he had it for me!!! UNBELIEVABLE! And the sweetest. - Manuel (trainee) - one of many servers at the wedding we attended on Saturday Feb 18th at Oregano. So much fun. As a single person in a room full of couples I got him to come out and dance with me several times. Very attentive, appreciative, and friendly. - Mauro (supervisor of Manuel?) - head server at Oregano for the wedding. Absolutely incredible. Also danced with me. So many laughs. Did a fabulous job also being attentive and wonderful at training his staff AND allowing them to have fun (I can imagine that's a hard balance here). - Jose - server at The Grill. Exceptional food. Very attentive and loved his recommendations. - Poolside servers were fantastic. No judgment on how many drinks you had, quick service, polite, and very professional but also very fun! - Housekeeping - outstanding. Beautiful clean room. Respectful if wanted it not done. Loved the adorable towel animals! - Too ALL the other staff THANK YOU! This was by far a trip of a lifetime and worth every darn penny!!! Highly recommend those who visit bring single dollar bills or small bills to tip your excellent staff! They all work extremely hard and it shows from the food, drinks, activities, how cleanly the grounds and rooms are AND the staff they hire. EXCELLENCE IS TRULY EXCELLENT!!!

Annelise E.

Yelp
Absolutely 5 star experience, from airport pick up to check in to room to food to entertainment to drinks to service and back to the airport. Phenomenal!

Lulu K.

Yelp
Excellent service, good drinks and Mexican food. Staff is friendly and personalize your every need. It has a little bit for everyone. If you want relaxation you can find it here. You want to party it also has a place for you. Grounds are beautifully maintained. Great experience! It makes me comeback every year!

Yelp
Vacation | Couple Stay July 25-30th 2023 2nd time at resort. Price of stay 5 nights (room only) $3,071 USD Overall service Has declined since last stay. Room Pros: We stayed in the 2 story suit. Room 6320 Quiet. Spacious. Cons: Room temperature did not get as cold as we would've hoped. Tiny fridge never kept beverages cold. Felt like it was overheating. Old coffee pod and water left in coffee maker from previous guess. Rooftop empty beer cans and cups left from previous guest. Less than 4 channels were in English which was porn and news. Almost all movies are in Spanish. NO English closed captions available. This was a huge disappointment. When asked about this inconvenience, we were informative the resort has a local cable provider that does not offer channels in English and obviously nor close caption. WiFi signal was weak 95% of the time , so no email, no picture messages, no social media. I had to go to the main building (where you check-in) in order to do work and use internet. WiFi did not work from room, rooftop, nor balcony for all 5 days. Ice maker in our building was out most of the time. Walked to building 5 for ice. Food Pros: Vegan options. Room service were prompt Breakfast buffet nicely organized and clean. Indian restaurant flavorful foods. Quite a few Vegan options. Asian restaurant (Spice) a variety of vegan options, flavorful food. Good drinks and great customer service. Layout was spacious and clean. Resort food option Cons: Only fruit or Oreos are your options for dessert if you're plant based. Providing those on a plant based diet more than fruit as a dessert would be nice. I was unable to indulge in ice cream, no pastries, no cake for the entire stay. Resort Facility Ventilated in main buildings. Cons: Gym has lockers in the restroom, but only one toilet and one shower. During my entire stay the soap was never filled. I used the soap from the shower to wash my hands. One of the 2 ellipticals were broken. There was no "out of order side". Water in the small fridge was never cold. Definitely not enough equipment nor space for the amount of guest. The setup is tight and cluttered. My first day The personal trainer told me I can't leave with a towel from the gym (was going out for a jog since there were no treadmill available @8 a.m). He followed that with "I'll let you do it this once..." Next gym visit I left my backpack in the locker so I could go out for a run (for obvious reason), as I returned the same trainer stood in the doorway with his hands on his hip (authorized stance) and asked sternly " What did you forget?" I ignored him, grabbed my items and left. Customer Service Customer Service was nothing like we experienced 2 years ago. The guy at the smoothie bar never greeted to take my wife and I order when we would arrive. He would glance at us then continue on his phone with the volume up. However, we noticed when other customers come up with "lighter complexion" he was all smiles and excitement. Luckily a more nice gentleman was there one of the days of our stay. My wife was not greeted with the same customer service as white people at the lobster house. This was also noticeable for me at the grill kitchen during breakfast and martini bar. We were rushed accompanied with rude gestures, and no please or thank you. Definitely not what we experienced our first stay 2 years ago. Entertainment: Circus show was entertaining. African acrobats was ok. The entertainment staff seems to make up things as they went with no true script organized schedule. The entertainment staff attire was not proper for the shows or event . Nothing like the entertainment staff 2 years ago, they were interactive with guest throughout the day on and off the stage. The current staff were active and seen only during water Zumba which they were not on the same page. I was looking forward to booking this resort for our vow renewal next year, but we will more than likely not be visiting until we feel there has been a change in their overall service and options. Food & drinks: Food Pros: Vegan options. Room service were prompt Breakfast buffet nicely organized and clean. Indian restaurant flavorful foods. Quite a few Vegan options. Asian restaurant (Spice) a variety of vegan options, flavorful food. Good drinks and great customer service. Layout was spacious and clean. Yellow Food bus was convenient when we did not want room service nor restaurant. Quick grab and go. Resort food option Cons: Only fruit or Oreos are your options for dessert if you're plant based. Luckily I brought Nutter-butters. Providing those on a plant based diet more than fruit as a dessert would be nice. I was unable to indulge in ice cream, no pastries, no cake for the entire stay

Yelp
We love excellence!! The basmati restaurant is awesome ! Chef Antonio is amazing, our waiter Andreas was so attentive. The manger Caesar always had a smile on his face and everything was always cleaned and taken care of by the busser. Thanks excellences for another amazing experience

Jeff S.

Yelp
Excellent resort - we had a room in the excellence club area which was fantastic - the private club for snacks and cocktails was really top notch! The staff.. can't say enough - from the groundkeeper to everyone on property - friendly and helpful Food was quite good and Amable (excellence club pool attendant) was off the charts for service! We will be back!

Yelp
This is hands down our (my hubby and I) favorite place to take a yearly vacation for our anniversary. We receive the best service of any place we've ever stayed. The food is amazing. The entire resort is so clean and everyone is amazingly kind and absolutely provide the most excellent service. We've been to this resort four times. Adrian (Chez Isabelle) is one of the best servers ever. We had Alberto as our pool side server many years and he's also amazing. Guadalupe's smile is precious and so genuine. These are just a few of the amazing people who make our week there perfect.

Yelp
AMAZING! 20/10 review. My husband and I recently just got married here and everything from start to finish was just incredible. Our wedding coordinator Elizabeth was so attentive, nice, accommodating and just overall spectacular to work with. She made everything so easy for us and stress free! Big kudos to her Food at the wedding and all the restaurants at the resort were phenomenal! Wait staff was extremely helpful and kind. Will be going back soon!

Yelp
An absolute delight and worth every penny. Pool access right out of our back patio, a swim up bar, nightly entertainment, and the friendliest, most attentive staff. We had full, unopened bottles of whisky, rum, quality tequila, and vodka in our room and a fridge with sodas and snacks that was constantly refilled. Absolutely what we were looking for. The break down: The Entertainment: Every night had something new and exciting to look forward to. Every performance, band, act, and shenanigan was highly entertaining and enjoyable. The poker night was a blast and our dealer was engaging and fantastic, I really wish I remembered his name to give him a proper call out. They have the events clearly available and scheduled, and you would have to stay here for a month to get to do half of what they offer! Which a is a good thing. Nothing was short handed or sub par, and they even had a circus. The Lobster House: Hands down the best restaurant we visited here. Beautiful location overlooking the beach. Excellent food and service. And the deserts were amazing. Get the surf and turf, you won't regret it. And get the octopus appetizer, simply divine. My wife had the lobster risotto and it was perhaps the best risotto we have ever had. Chez Isabelle: Our second favorite. The escargot appetizer shined as my favorite, though my wife will say the scallops, but we would be just as content to have the other as they were both superb. My wife's chicken and mushroom dinner was excellent, as was my pork shank. Each dish cooked to perfection, seasoned beautifully, and served by friendly staff. The Grill: This will be the only negative thing I will have to say. To preface this, where my wife and I live we have access to high quality beef and steaks. That said, the steaks at the Grill were very disappointing. Perhaps beef in this area or the cultural differences were just not what we were expecting, but this was the first restaurant we went to and never went back. My wife got the T-Bone, and I got the ribeye. Both were very thinly cut, had little to no flavor, and were a huge let down. They were cooked perfectly, so it was either the quality of beef or the seasoning. Like I said before, maybe they don't have access to the beef as we are used to. When I consider the quality of everything else at this resort, I have to acknowledge that there is no way they would serve steaks like this unless they had little to no choice. Perhaps I am a steak snob, I don't know. I was just disappointed in the steak here. If you want steak, go to the Lobster House. Their flank steak has a gorgeous flavor and is amazing. The Room Service Food: 24 hour room service for all of your drunken craving needs! We certainly took advantage of this. The chicken fingers were the star, but everything was amazing. Breakfast in bed with quality benedicts, egg plates, and bagels. There is no way we could have tried all of their options. The Drinks: I drank so many piña coladas that I am pretty sure I'm going to pee out a coconut when I get home. You got kidney stones? Hah! I've got coconuts. They were amazing. Every drink we got was quality. They didn't just over booze them like a dive bar, but focused on flavor and balance. Which is good, because we basically lived in the pool and drank for the entire week. Louise behind the swim up bar was fantastic and friendly, cracking good jokes and made superb drinks. We had access to the exclusive pool and the staff there was amazing. They continually brought us drinks and took care of us. The Gift Shop: David at the gift shop was extremely helpful. He didn't push product at us just to make a sale, but really listened to what we were looking for and ensured we got what we needed. I am immediately resistant when a salesman tries to sell me something, and this was never the case with David or this shop. The Staff: Everyone here greets you with a smile. They are attentive, eager to meet your needs, and work extremely hard. While we are drinking and being the laziest versions of ourselves, they are working tirelessly to make our experience the best it can be. From the bar tenders, serving staff, and housekeeping, to the concierges, medical, bell hops and drivers, everyone here excels at customer services and far exceeded our expectations. Overall Experience: We will be coming back. We wanted to step out of our routine, to unplug and escape, and that is exactly what this resort allowed us to do. Every member of the staff was amazing. The food was amazing (perhaps not the steaks but I can forgive them that). The drinks were amazing. The room was amazing. And our experience was unforgettable. Thank you to all of the staff, and for everything. We appreciate all of your hard work, friendly smiles, and attention to detail. Thank you.
