Beautiful home with great grounds. It still feels like a commercial property in the kitchen etc, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that there is loads of space, and the property has everything you need, including indoor and outdoor games, and a drying room etc. we will definitely stay again in the future. Perfect for a big family gathering.

Full of rats on the garden water is disgusting we had worms from the tap water either it was filtered from the fridge and every other day smelling of sewage from the drains inside outside of house very poor rentals do not pay more than a thousand pounds a month not worth it disgusting landlords will get rid of you in a second!!!!!!! And there is dead some thing or other house is covered in flys and ladybugs specifically behind the wood burner!!!!

This is a fantastic place. Very spacious, and the rooms have all been decorated and furnished with great thought, love and attention to detail. The garden is huge, with river frontage. Situated in the heart of Exford, and was formerly a Youth Hostel and an old Victorian mansion. The entry procedure was very easy and made us feel very welcome. A real gem

We had the hostel on private hire and had a great time. Nice building in a good location and generally well equipped. Part of the hostel has been refurbished and is really nice, the older rear part is a bit old and damp. The kitchen is good but needs more glasses.

A great place to stay if you want easy access to the moors. You can ride or hike out straight from the doorstep. The accommodation is pretty basic but has everything you need including stuff like a drying room and bike shed. There is a decent kitchen but the pub over the road was so nice we ended up in there every day for breakfast and dinner. Staff were super friendly as well! Only drawbacks where the somewhat underpowered showers and the wall between our room and the next being very thin. Fortunately our neighbours were pretty quite and well behaved.

This hostel is not on par with the other YHA hostels. Dirty and very outdated showers/bathrooms. Smelly at times. No staff around and only wifi is across the street in the Inn. On top of that the prices are about 50% higher than other YHA hostels. Only good things are the nice garden in case of good weather and a reasonably well organized self catering kitchen.

It's not a hostel anymore. Yet there is still a sign for youth hostel on the bridge and a web site. Edit: Above was my original post, we were cycle touring doing the British Cycle Quest (where there is a question to answer in Exmoor) through and thought it would be a lovely place to stay. Wandered around the building. There was a sign by the bridge saying "youth hostel" but nothing else. So we then phoned the number that we got off of the Google maps. Which put us through to the white horse pub next to the bridge, where we were stood. They said it was now a private home. So we thought that we best update the google by saying it no longer exists as a hostel. So other people on the road such as walkers and cyclists know before they turn (the last review was from 3 years ago I think...coveeed) up. I have moved my star rating up to 3. It wasn't COVID that was the issue. It was people's stupidity following the "guidelines" in the first place, especially the ones clapping like seals on a thursday. Boris the only person who puts on weight in intensive care. Then parties a few months later (why did it take 2 years for that to come out?) So the economy is destroyed and we now have mass inflation from 2 years of printing money. I feel for the tourism industry and pray you survive as Exford is a lovely place.

A really nice place to stay. I found it very quiet and although it's rural it's not too far away from Minehead and other places. The White Horse (across the road is great for Food and Drink too) Would happily stay there again.
