I recently spent four days with the Extremely Canadian (ExCan) team for their two-day steeps clinic and two of their one-day backcountry tours. In a nutshell: this team is world class.
The backcountry guides were exceptional, leading us through stunning terrain to fresh tracks all day long. When we weren't skiing waist-deep powder, they shared valuable insights on avalanche risk, terrain reading, backcountry gear, and safe travel, offering a solid introduction to critical skills for mountain adventurers.
The two-day steeps clinic is hard to summarize... but whatever your limits are on the morning of day one, you probably won't even remember them by the end of day two. The coaches are friendly, highly knowledgeable and, most importantly, know just how to nudge you out of your comfort zone, building you up through progressively challenging terrain.
Whistler Blackcomb is vast and can be overwhelming for newcomers, and even inbounds, the most difficult runs require local knowledge to navigate safely. The ExCan team makes it more approachable, and helps you get the most out of your time, whether you're new to these mountains or just looking to push your limits.
