"The Eye Hotel’s name is rather literal; it occupies a gorgeous 17th-century building that was once an ophthalmology hospital in the heart of Utrecht. In its new guise as a boutique hotel, it’s got 36 rooms in five different styles — all of them with the basics, like free wi-fi and flat-screen TVs, while the suites offer high ceilings, additional beds upon request, and expansive views of the city. Sophisticated minimalist décor and a cool, muted color palette highlight the structure’s original exposed ceiling beams, which are beautiful design elements in their own right. Meals, coffee, and snacks are available from De Rechtbank, the restaurant at the Eye’s sister hotel, just a minute’s walk away — and adventurous guests can rent bikes from the hotel and tour Utrecht like a local." - Tablet Hotels

I really love staying at the Eye Hotel. It is centrally located, close to the station and the university, and also a peaceful place to stay. The rooms are comfy and spacious and beds and linen very good and I appreciate the access to a coffee machine in the room and tea and coffee available all day downstairs. The breakfasts are wonderful and generous and cater to different diets. The only improvement I could think of it to include a bar fridge in the room as it is really helpful to have especially in summer to keep water cool etc. And some alternative versions of bed pillows are recommended, as the very puffy ones do not suit all!

We had a wonderful room with big windows overlooking the front. There was a fabric market there on Sunday morning. It’s a little bit of a walk to center of town but worth it for high quality of the hotel. We were pretty close to a popular bus stop too, and the amazing old post office. We didn’t eat breakfast there but it looked good from what we saw. We were given free access to the coffee machine all day, which was great. Bed was very comfortable. Only wish there had been a piece of furniture in the room to put my suitcase. There was enough space for something of this sort. I told the hotel clerk the problem and she was great - she brought me a crate up from the basement to use and it worked fine. A suggestion to management would be to have a collapsible luggage rack in the room.

The hotel is beautiful. It is quirky and super cute. The staff is friendly and super helpful. The hotel is situated close to EVERYTHING. But far enough from the busy canal and street corners to get a good night's rest. I even forgot my jacket at the hotel, and they notified me and I was able to retrieve it from them. Very friendly and super helpful.

We really enjoyed staying in this repurposed Eye Hospital. The staff welcomed us in a very friendly manner and took our bags to our room whilst we explored the city. The bed is very comfortable and the breakfast fresh and filling. We were served scrambled eggs, bacon, 2 different breads , croissants, juice, coffee, yoghurt and fruit, with a salad and cold meats and cheese. We thought this was very good value for €17 each. |It took us 10 minutes to walk to and from the railway station . It was close to the canals, restaurants the Dom, Domkirk and the repurposed water tower. |The theming of the hotel can appear quirky but we liked its nod to its history .

Fine… but not a boutique. ||This is a good hotel but, for the price, there’s nothing really notable. A few thoughtful in room touches would really lift its appeal. ||Rooms lack USB ports. |Bathrooms have a soap and lotion pump and that’s it. |Beds were comfy. The room was clean but those things are table stakes.

The hotel is a very clean environment, and statf makes you feel at home. |The location is perfect near lots of attractions and restaurants, but quite around. |Breakfast was delicious and healthy.|Our family had a great experience staying there.

This is not a cookie-cutter chain but a beautiful repurposing of an optometry center. The rooms retain their charm with very modern bath and TV. Breakfast is served to your table, with fresh eggs and salmon or bacon, plus yogurt, fruit, salad, and bread. Bicycles are available for rent; I used one to get to Kasteel de Haar. And staff are both uniformly friendly and fluent in English. Walking distance to everything in Utrecht, including train station. My hotel of choice in Utrecht.

Excellent location. The reception staff was very helpful with opening the gate for parking our rented bicycles. We enjoyed the coffee maker which was always available. Our room was a very nice size with a small couch, coffee maker and wardrobe closet.
