Are you a tourist, visiting Cardiff, want a slice and taste of Wales? It seems so obvious a gimmick, to sell welsh cakes at a ridiculous price to anyone who will buy them, being located in the bay and having an expensive lease, is a probable reason they are so expensive.
The shop has some quirkiness to it, watch the cooks fry the cakes in front of you, get taken in by the pastel decor and feel slightly confused by the other tat on sale, the preserves are fine but the washing up bottle holders remind me of toilet paper covers, it's crazy only a nutter would buy it.
I'm going off track, basically the cakes are yummy with a mix of flavours but if like me you find the plain (raisin filled cakes) a bit to obvious then try the cinnamon or chocolate cakes. The major problem is the price, is for tourists.
They have a Thornton's style take on the packaging, which is very presentable as a gift. But I wouldn't send it through the post, just in case.
