Lovely cheery staff who were very kind and helpful. Cozy warm store and lots of welshcakes available to buy, pre-packaged ones and fresh ones. The fresh welshcakes were very tasty, and we enjoyed the milk chocolate and the Easter special flavours.

Recommended by a taxi driver. Traditional Welsh Cakes, especially freshly made hot in front of you. They also do vegan and gluten free. Highly, recommended.

It is my first time having Welshcake and Fabulous Welshcakes was a great choice. Welshcakes are made instantly and served warm. The store smells so nice with buttery scent.

The Welsh cakes from this store are smaller and thinner than authentic/ traditional Welsh cakes. And pricier too. They were the right size the last time I came. I love Welsh cakes and I realise the Welsh cakes are this size and thickness to make sure you can always taste the fluffyness from one bite, but now you made it too thin. It's not fabulous at all! Not a good representation of Welsh cakes unfortunately.

I have been buying Welsh cakes for over the last three years, before the COVID-19. The quality and taste are always great!! Fresh, hot and delicious! Two branches can be found, in the City Center and this one in Cardiff Bay.

Well; staff and shop is very nice, you definitely should pass by and try the fabulous welshcakes but dont expect a taste bomb in your mouth. They taste exactly like they look :) 12 pieces for 6 pounds, so i guess worth trying. There are three types: chocolate, raisin and cinnamon. Enjoy!

Lovely little shop by the bay. Has 3 vegan options (original, chocolate orange and cherry coconut) when we visited. They tasted great and staff were friendly and helpful.

Yelp
We were walking around around Mermaid Quay, and were wanting to get a small snack. Having never tried Welsh cakes before, the shop intrigued us. As we entered, we could see the fresh cakes coming off the griddle. They were soft and buttery, and not overly sweet.

Yelp
Small shop by Cardiff bay selling traditional Welsh cakes. They are very good, not too sweet and have dry fruit in them. Only 50p eat, discount if you order 12.

Yelp
After polishing off my second pack of Fabulous Welshcakes (I tried the chocolate and the cinnamon), I thought that I might take this opportunity to write a review as I digest. These are really beautiful cakes that melt in your mouth and are ridiculously more-ish. They are a tad on the small side, but I see this as a good thing in helping to reduce calorie intake if you're going to eat them anyway. The shop itself is in the new shopping area in Cardiff Bay, and is clearly pitched at tourists to the area with the emphasis on Welshness and local gifts and produce. Fortunately, this shop has been put together with so much care that it's a joy to look around even for a local such as myself. The gifts are of a high quality and are fun and unusual, the jams and preserves look scrummy and the general smell of cooking welshcakes on the griddle in the window is fantastic. Good luck Fabulous Welshcakes, I wish you all the best in your endeavour to educate the poor people of the world who have never heard of a welshcake. I'll be back.

Yelp
The lovely and I just had 12 for £4.75 that consisted of chocolate chip, original and lemon! Oh why didn't I try these sooner? I couldn't kep my hand out of the bag during our pub dinner and would sneak an extra one in my gob every time my lovely went to the toilet or bar. Next time I shall mostly be trying the coconut and lime ones. That is all.

Yelp
I dare anyone of you to go into Fabulous Welshcakes and not at least try the samples. I went last went in after gorging on an oriental buffet in Cosmo's. I was absolutely stuffed and vowing to never eat again, that was until I smelt that smell of freshly cooking Welsh Cakes. I've been cooking Welshcakes all my life and would give my right arm for one of their recipes, and why have I never thought about putting chocolate in them instead of boring raisins. My life feel better because I know this shop exists, and it really doesn't matter how big they are because you won't want to stop eating them.

Yelp
Can this business live up to its name? Yes. If you like Welsh cakes then this is a must - even if you don't like Welsh cakes then its still worth popping inside because they are not afraid to experiment and stray from the traditional version and produce chocolate, cinnamon and jam filled varieties all presented in fabulously attractive packaging The only way you won't like this shop is if you're allergic to sugar.

Yelp
Are you a tourist, visiting Cardiff, want a slice and taste of Wales? It seems so obvious a gimmick, to sell welsh cakes at a ridiculous price to anyone who will buy them, being located in the bay and having an expensive lease, is a probable reason they are so expensive. The shop has some quirkiness to it, watch the cooks fry the cakes in front of you, get taken in by the pastel decor and feel slightly confused by the other tat on sale, the preserves are fine but the washing up bottle holders remind me of toilet paper covers, it's crazy only a nutter would buy it. I'm going off track, basically the cakes are yummy with a mix of flavours but if like me you find the plain (raisin filled cakes) a bit to obvious then try the cinnamon or chocolate cakes. The major problem is the price, is for tourists. They have a Thornton's style take on the packaging, which is very presentable as a gift. But I wouldn't send it through the post, just in case.

Yelp
I don't even like Welsh cakes. But I can't help myself - whenever I walk by this cosy Bay boutique, I have to go in and help myself to whatever warm, doughy sample their offering. Any flavour, I don't care. It's hard to swallow a boring ol' raisin Welsh cake once you've tasted one of their chocolate chip or cinnamon-dusted varieties (I've heard they have a coconut and lime one, but I've yet to try it). Once you've allowed the smell of warm cake to draw you into the shop, it's worth having a look around their kitchy Welsh-themed gifts - jams, preserves, and cooking oils snugly hug the shelves and provide an opportunity for a tourists to bring home a bit of Wales that doesn't revolve around rugby or love spoons.

Yelp
Love yah Welsh cakes? This is a charming little shop situated around the wonderful area in Cardiff Bay. It is small and don't think very wheel chair accessible. It is suitable for children, but I recommend more for women as it is a very female decorated shop. When I think of this shop I not only think Welsh cakes; but I think of strawberries, flowers, the colour pink and all pink things, the pretty, flowery pinafores that the staff wore who were working there. That is because the shop has these type of decorations here and there plotted about the shop to make become more appealing and attractive for it's audience and buyers. The smell of this place is divine and that is the first thing to grab one of your five senses into the shop. I'm not sure shop is the right word for a place that sells and serves Welsh cakes and other food snacks for the hungry stomachs to come crawling into like ants. But I cannot call it a cafe really either because you can't eat there. There prices are alright for most things, and I do really, if possible recommend it to all customers.

Yelp
Mmmm, I'll just have two. Oh, go on then, I'll have another two. Best make it three. I think I need a train pass for Bristol - Cardiff, would work out cheaper in the long run. They're nice, can you tell? Cooked fresh, lovely hot, 45p each (Ryder Cup prices notwithstanding)

Yelp
Super delicious and buttery vegan welshcakes! Only a pound for two of them as well. They taste like a combination of a sweet scone and a shortbread for anyone who isn't familiar with them. They are definitely a must have if you come to Wales! They also had gluten free and diabetic ones which I didn't try but it's awesome that they cater to so many people. The staff was also super friendly and sweet.

Yelp
For Welshcakes with a twist, this is the place to go - whether you're a local or a tourist. You can watch staff making the cakes in the traditional way on a griddle, just inside the shop window - and this place seems aimed primarily at visitors to the city, these scrumptious Welshcakes will tempt in many locals as well. Alongside the classic recipe with raisins, they sell all sorts of variations - Welshcakes with lemon, with chocolate chips, even with coconut and lime, or spiced with cinammon. If you're lucky, they might have some tasting samples on offer when you visit. They also do Welshcake favours to bring some Welsh tradition to your wedding. Scattered about the shop there are also some other Welsh-themed gifts, including an amusing polka-dotted apron to doll-up your bottle of washing up liquid (yes, really!), some Welsh jams and other preserves, and Welsh-language tea towels.

Yelp
Yummy Yum Yum! This shop provides exactly what it says on the tin. Fabulous Welsh cakes. These cakes are baked daily and the aroma of sweetness oozes out of the door, up my nasal passages and hypnotises my brain telling me to buy, eat, buy, eat, buy, eat! The cakes are light and fluffy. They melt on your tongue and leave you desperate for more! Panic not whilst you are waiting for more they have a try before you buy dish which I would lick clean if I could. This shop is an absolute must must must when visiting the bay. It

Yelp
The Welsh are proud of many things; the rugby and the history. But we also do make a good welsh cake. The 'Fabulous Welsh Cakes' shop is a little shop located down Cardiff Bay down Mermaid Quay. I love Welsh Cakes and could not wait to try some from this shop. I can honestly say that these were the best Welsh Cakes I have ever had and that's difficult for me to say because my mum makes lovely Welsh Cakes... sorry mum! What I like so much about this shop is the services they offer rather than just selling Welsh cakes. You can have the option as having them as a wedding favour with three Welsh cakes wrapped in a clear cellophane packaging then finished off with a hand tied ribbon. I have been to many weddings and haven't had welsh cakes at them, after seeing this I do now! Not only does this shop offer welsh cakes with raisins but also they do offer them plain and chocolate chip! I was so tempted to buy every single Welsh cake they had but I restrained and stuck to what I knew and bought cakes with raisins. Fabulous Welsh cakes are a lovely little place that leaves you wanted more. Definitely worth a visit if you are ever down the Bay.

Yelp
This tiny little gem hidden away amongst all the chains of Cardiff Bay is a breath of fresh air from all the predictability around it. Selling home made welshcakes with a selection of either the traditional current or chocolate these little things sell fast by the box full. They are the perfect snack, treat or present for any age and they really do taste just fabulous!

Yelp
mmmm. your welshcakes ARE fabulous. such a cute size, and a little treat with lots of different flavours for you to work your way through. the shop itself has lots of great welsh gifts to bring home, too if you're a visitor, or just feeling proud of your welsh heritage. the ladies working here were lovely and friendly too!

Yelp
OK...when you think of Wales images of sheep, welsh ladies, rugby, leeks and daffodils easily spring to mind. Then Welsh cakes come into the equation. Now, I've never been a massive fan of welsh cakes after my kind father told me they were filled with dead grapes. Not nice imagery for a seven year old, lets be honest. But my nan used to be kind enough and make them without the so-called 'dead grapes' One day, mindlessly ambling around Cardiff Bay I stumbled across Fabulous Welsh cakes and oh my god am I glad I did. Not only do they do welsh cakes without the raisins they do chocolate chip welsh cakes! YES CHOCOLATE CHIP! I thought I had died and gone to Welsh cake heaven. The smell of the place is enough to get any sane persons mouth watering and even dribbling if your unashamedly a food lover like yours truly. This shop is also a boutique, selling little welsh souvenirs and reminders so whilst your welsh cakes are being cooked up why not have a wee wander around. Well worth a look and will let you leave the land of my fathers with a few extra pounds and a taste for 'dead grapes.'

Yelp
I took my girlfriend here since she wished to buy Welsh cakes, she had them from here before and told me they were really good. After trying for myself I can say that the Welsh cakes are high quality and taste good, however for me the price was a bit too much for some of the products in the shop but the Welsh cakes themselves were really tasty. The Good: -Freshly made Welsh cakes -Very tasty Welsh cakes -Friendly staff The bad: -Small Welsh cakes -Expensive gifts in the shop, some Welsh cakes over priced.
