Fagaras is a range of mountains that are located in the center of Romania, named after the nearby city of Fagaras. They are very popular among the locals as the mountain range is vast, with many mountain peaks, and there are many trekking routes. Fagaras holds the highest peak in Romania, Varful Moldoveanu, at 2,544m, and it also includes 7 more peaks above 2,500m.
The most famous road in Romania, Transfagarasan road, runs across the range and it is one of the most scenic routes by car in the country. The road is closed during the winter due to the heavy snowfall.
