Failte Bed & Breakfast Oban

My spouse and I spent two wonderful days here in October 2025. Fantastic hospitality and location! What a joy it is to stay in a genuine owner-occupied B&B. Beautifully situated on a quiet residential street overlooking central Oban, with all its attractions (including the excellent eponymous distillery) just a 5-minute walk downhill. Oban's distinctive McCaig's Tower is a 5-minute walk uphill. Filled with original artwork by talented family members, the house is warm and welcoming. We stayed in a lovely ensuite twin room on the top floor, with panoramic views over the town, bay and Isle of Kerrera. Breakfast was a gourmet extravaganza, enjoyed in the ground floor dining room looking out to a tiny, secluded front garden full of birds. Thomas and Isabel are perfect hosts. Friendly, attentive, solicitous, mindful of the small touches that make a stay special--like bringing us a birds field guide when we showed interest in the birds visiting the front garden feeder. This is the place to stay in Oban!

My wife and I spent 3 weeks touring Scotland and Ireland, staying in guest houses all the while... Failte was by far the best! Thomas is lovely and has thought of everything... comfortable bed and crisp sheets, cozy breakfast room with table linens and AMAZING food. Even the music was perfect. Couldn't recommend more. I have travelled 8 times to Scotland and stayed at beautiful BBs. However, Failte is one of the very best. Failte is Gaelic and means Welcome and that is exactly how how I felt during my stay. The room is spotlessly cleaned to the max. Thomas is a great host and everything else is very good. Hope I can return sometimes in the future. Thank you Thomas!

Such a lovely experience staying at Failte! The room was super comfortable, Thomas and his wife thought of every amenity. And the view out the window was beautiful. We looked forward to the delicious breakfast each day-- the homemade yogurt and fruit was a work of art.

We were originally meant to stay in October but due to a storm we couldn’t make it and the hosts were very helpful in rescheduling. We stayed for a night in March instead and had a lovely time. Thomas is extremely friendly and welcoming and let us keep our bags in the B&B before check in and after on the second day. The room was immaculate and really nicely decorated and included a helpful folder with everything you need to know about Oban. Breakfast was made fresh and delicious and there were loads of options to choose from. All in all we had a lovely time and would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Oban!!

„Failte“ means welcome - and that’s exactly how we felt! Thomas gave us such a warm welcome and the room was already warm as well! Everything is so decorated so lovely and full of details, the bed was comfy and everything was clean! The breakfast is delicious and you can choose between several warm and cold and sweet or salty things! We would recommend the B&B to everyone ♥️

Beautiful guest house with welcoming and friendly host. Myself and my friend stayed in the twin room at the top of the house, the room and bathroom were spacious, clean and very comfortable. Breakfasts were wonderful. I really loved all the art work and as an avid reader loved looking at all the books which were available to borrow and also add to. If you are going to visit McCaig's Tower, do it from the guest house as you are already half way there! It is up quite a steep hill which would not suit everyone. It is very tranquil and peaceful and only a 10 minute walk to the town, a wee bit longer to walk back!|I would certainly recommend this guest house.

Loved staying here. First off the breakfasts are wonderful. Cheeses, fruit, breads, jams and your choice of a full Scottish, eggs Benedict and other dishes. I looked forward to my breakfast time every morning. The beds are so comfortable! We had the family room and had the whole floor to ourselves. The climbs from Oban to the B&B is a great workout. Our hosts were also wonderful and the space is very clean and welcoming. Thomas made sure we had a little jug of milk for tea right when we checked in which I appreciated. Would totally stay here again.
