I had more fun at this hostel than I've had at fancy hotels I've stayed in across Ireland. The building is historic and has a beautiful old vibe to it. It is probably the best situated lodging in the town--right on the corner of the two major streets. We had a room on the 3rd floor with a beautiful view over town with the hills and chapel in the background. There is a big kitchen open to use with toast, jam, biscuits and tea. Just by comparison, I stayed in a hotel in Waterford for 3x the price this weekend and they didn't even let you have a cup of tea and they put us in a basement! This hostel is a gem, really. We booked a private room and it comes with a sink and a double bed--so basically the discounted price that makes this a "hostel" rather than a hotel is because of the shared bathroom, which is fine. The showers were pitiful, however, only going for about 10 seconds at a time. Also, they do not provide towels or soap, so we had to go buy soap at a shop in town. I would stay there again in any case, a great value. I was most pleased just to enjoy the old house with a cup of tea.
