We had a rough stay here on a Hot June night. The rooms are nice but the Air condition units are not enough to cool the large rooms. After calling a complaint the desk clerk was unhelpful and didn’t listen to what I was trying to explain to her. The room A/C was blowing cold but the room was 77degrees that night and 79 degrees the next morning. The unit was also dripping so much water that the whole corner of the rug was soaked. Front desk decided they knew better and only reset a breaker which did nothing and they didn’t even follow up with us. So incredibly uncomfortable and be cautious of staying here in the summer. The unit also had a window unit telling me they knew it was an issue, but said unit didn’t cool at all and instead circulated the hot air. Beware room 223.

What a pleasant surprise…a boutique Fairfield Inn by Marriott. With only 40 rooms in a historic building and a friendly staff, this is definitely an excellent small hotel. Excellent breakfast and good restaurants within walking distance. Our room on the 3rd floor was very large.

We just spent the last two nights at this hotel. My wife and I loved the place and all the staff was very friendly. The courtesy breakfast was excellent. Real eggs!!! Omelets, roasted home fries. Fresh fruit and all the typical continental style selections. Everything was very clean. The only slight criticism would be that the mattress was “okay” and the pillows need to be upgraded. If the pillows were more luxury, the mattress would have been less noticeable. 😂. Highly recommend staying here. We will definitely return when we are in the area!!! Andy and Stacy

Finally, a place that does not have a noisy A/C that turns on and off! Some form of central air that does not make any sound when the cooling is active or not. Great place, would definitely stay again.

Had high hopes for this hotel based on the reviews and photos but it was very disappointing. The hotel is extremely run down. The rooms really need renovation. Evening check-in was chaotic. The staff was nice and breakfast was decent and we appreciated that, but otherwise it does not live up to Marriott standards :(

The oversized room, high ceiling, and arched windows were a pleasant surprise, making our stay even more comfortable. The updated bathroom is bright and spacious. The hotel includes parking and breakfast.

The location is great but I did have 500 motorcycles go by in the afternoon. And there was blood on the walls in a hallway near my room. I honestly don't normally leave reviews but this place was not upkept and the breakfast was not great either. Only thing good was the coffee!

For starters, this place really needs to be renovated. They have duct tape on curtains, the head board is peeling, the mattress has a deep dip in the middle so you feel like you are sleeping in a hole (back is sore) and the blankets are yellow. We got stuck there due to stormy weather. My fiancé went down to talk to the front desk about staying an extra night- instead of being understanding that we were literally stuck and letting us price match at the property- they told my fiancé it was cheaper on the third party website and to book there and then check in. Had I known this was going to happen, I would’ve told my fiancé to go ahead and book at the Courtyard Marriott that’s located the next block over- that was $30+ cheaper, has a pool table, a pool, a bigger bar and more amenities. The parking lot was icy and I almost fell twice carrying my suitcase to the car. Michael doesn’t seem like a people person. He may be great at running things behind the scenes and crunching numbers but hospitality is kind of a must in a hotel. From now on, I’ll either try to stay at Courtyard or Hampton during my future trips to Keene.

Yelp
This was an interesting hotel.... you can tell its older based on how the building is constructed- the floors creek- but it's quaint. Parking is BEHIND the building - there is some handicapped parking- and then a parking garage shared with a bank. It was kind of a pain with our suitcases since the parking garage has no elevator. Next time we know to go unload first before parking- they will also give you a hang tag to show you are allowed to park in the garage. Our room was peculiar because it was an interior room with a view of.... the roof. Hahahahaah, I guess we were lucky to have even had windows! The check- in desk is at the front of the hotel and VERY small, but I guess it does the job. The woman working coincidentally had lived in our town in Texas, she was very friendly and we chatted with her for a bit. It's located very centralized to the other things on the main street in downtown, easy to walk pretty much everywhere. And there is a cute gazebo (think gilmore girls) right there too. The room itself was spacious, and the bed was comfy and clean. The bathroom was pretty cute, it felt kinda vintage. Breakfast was decent in the morning. Overall- I would stay here again.

Yelp
Filthy dirty poorly maintained dump. No parking. No elevator in the parking garage. Marriott needs to take their name off of this dump.

Yelp
This hotel definitely has a cute boutique feel to it, surprisingly. The decor is artsy and the building is older but the rooms are pretty clean, cozy, and comfortable. Urban location right downtown, if you're into that. Not quite enough people working here, it seems like only one person works at the front desk, so when they're away, you have to wait for them to return. Still, they were fairly friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent with tons of fresh fruit including raspberries, and my kids loved the prepackaged fruit cups, which we haven't seen at other hotels.

Yelp
This property is pretty tired. Carpeting throughout the common areas was dirt, worn and mildew-smelling. Our room was better (bed was great, windows opened , hvac was easy to control, water pressure was good) but paint was chipped and wallpaper peeling. Staff was adequate but not warm. Location is great--right on Main St and walkable to many good spots, but I would choose a different hotel until this one is upgraded.

Yelp
Great location - right in the heart of downtown Keene. Been staying here for years. Don't understand their terrible tv cable service - no local sports channel and no NBC channel - have asked multiple times and they claim it is a problem with the cable package - for years?! Nice hotel and staff.
google avatar

Yelp
Room 309..... Hotel is in an old building, floors sagging in room cause beds to have a significant lean towards the center of room. Heat an A/C makes noise, but does not do anything but the noise. Curtains are duct taped, instead of actually replacing them. Only way to cool room down was to open windows, but only able to open them 3". One light for the beds, and that is between the queen beds.

Yelp
A small but convenient location with the Fairfield quality you expect. The rooms have a bit of standard wear and tear, but are otherwise clean and maintained well! Our housekeeper was quite attentive and the front desk staff were helpful along the way. I must add that the shower was exceptional.

Yelp
This hotel is in a really ideal location for exploring the quaint city of Kenne and the surrounding areas' covered bridges! All the staff I interacted with were welcoming, helpful and friendly. They're doing well with the Covid safety measures and even give you a sit-down hot breakfast! I stayed in the 2-queen bed suite. The room was huge and spotlessly clean. Beds and pillows were so comfortable! It had a fridge, microwave and Keurig as well. They don't stock the coffee stuff in the room - instead you have to request it on check in and they give you a prepackaged set up (apparently a Covid thing- only seen this at this hotel so kinda weird lol). The hot breakfast was such a welcome change from all the other hotels that have shut down this benefit that used to be so ubiquitous! The tables are spread out for social distancing and they provide wipes at each table. They offered omlette (cheese or plain) and sausage (turkey or regular), as well as milk, juices, various granola bars, yogurt etc. It was the standard hotel breakfast of the past lol! I'm giving 4 stars for the following: the suite is in a basement with 2 small windows - I think they should tell you that before booking (maybe in the room description?) - it was damp and the hallways absolutely wreaked of marijuana smoke the entire time...probably hard to get rid off in a basement. Also the parking - so there are a couple of 15-minute loading only spaces out front so you can at least check in and unload all your bags etc - but after that you have to take the parking pass (put on your dash) and park in the parking garage top level behind the hotel. To find it, you drive around the block to get behind the hotel. And it only has stairs so unload your bags first bc it's kinda far - so the parking is very inconvenient. But it's a nice downtown location so that's to be expected I guess. Also, the shower is kinda weird - it's half of a glass door and half shower curtain and water gets everywhere. And then the TVs - so the remotes don't work - you have to scan a QR code and use your phone - it really sucked - didn't work well and was a pain to have to use my phone for it. Hated it! But I still had a great stay and would definitely return!

Yelp
Funky hotel in downtown Keene, right on the (noisy) main street. The building as a whole is beginning to look rundown. Our huge room had blackout curtains but the original rods were still in place in front of the curtains - a very odd look. Wallpaper was dinged and scratched in places and rugs and fabric furniture look a bit dingy. The room was not quite clean (makeup smear on back of bathroom door, mildew in shower) although the sheets and towels were spotless. The HVAC system here sounds like you are flying in a jet, even when the AC/heat is not on, and you can't turn off the sound (bring earplugs). Beds were comfy, although we asked for a king and were given a room with two queens. No in-room safe. There was a microwave and fridge (didn't use so don't know if they worked.) The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was standard (muffins, toast, pre-made omelets, juice, tea and coffee etc.) and the fresh fruit was delish. The breakfast room attendant was crabby bordering on rude. Overall I was a little disappointed in this location; doesn't seem up to the usual Marriott standards.

Yelp
While on a driving vacation, we stopped in the town of Keene. We weren't sure what to expect because you are basically driving through a forested area, and the next thing you know, you are in a nice little town. This Fairfield Inn felt much more like a boutique hotel than a chain. Our room was very spacious with high ceilings, nice wall coverings, and a large bathroom with a walk-in shower. The hotel is conveniently located right in town with several eateries within a short walking distance. They also offer a nice breakfast buffet each day. If you happen to be in Keene, NH (I never thought I would be!), I recommend you his hotel.

Yelp
We spent three nights here recently and were quite pleased. We ended up with a loft which was great because there was a ton of space and two bathrooms. The room was clean and nicely decorated and it had a small refrigerator. The tv's are a bit small, and the upstairs shower could be larger so you don't get a face full of water when trying to bend over and shave your legs in such a tight space but those are minor issues. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially in the breakfast area. The young lady working there was very pleasant and super helpful. The hallways here do smell like a hamster cage but I chalk that up to being a old building and parking is kind of a pain as you have to park on the top of a parking garage (no elevator) and walk across the lot. The first night there it was raining so we were soaked. The location in fantastic as you are close to restaurants and shops and the square at the end of Main Street with a beautiful gazebo and plenty of shaded seating.

Yelp
We stayed here for our daughter's graduation from Keene State. The prices were high as they gouged you because of graduation. Our room was at the front of the building and the noise level on Main Street is loud. The room was not up to standards of a Marriott. Spider webs on the ceiling. There was a bug in the room as we first walked in. The window curtains have small holes on them, and the full length mirror is covered by the desk/refrigerator who would do that. The continental breakfast was poor at best, everything was brought in pre-packaged, made offsite. No cooked food at all. Will not come back.not worth what we paid for.

Yelp
I could not recommend this place enough!! From the moment we walked in, the staff were so welcoming and made us feel at home. The front desk staff were highly knowledgable about the area (Leah was FANTASTIC!) and every staff member we met whether it was at the hot breakfast or in the elevator with cleaning staff was so friendly and engaged in conversation it was so refreshing. The room was FANTASTIC! Amazing views. I would highly recommend! The room had amazing views of downtown but also quiet enough that you felt like you were in your own world. The location was SUPERB with restaurants and shops right outside the door. My only recommendation would be to have more clear parking signs to avoid getting ticketed by the city (which we luckily avoided).

Yelp
I am not sure why my review does not *stick* here. This is my heart home. I will go visit here as long as this place stands. As the former LANE HOTEL- HISTORIC..I miss some of the perks..the lobby happy hour for guest..the fun lobby bartender. I do NOT miss that is was not as clean and the prices have dropped significantly. THIS is a PLUS. The 2 floor rooms..delightful and romantic..and lets face it..I love having my own bathroom when awy with my love. Go..the town square is basically STARS HOLLOWS for all you Gilmore Girls fans..good places to eat..maybe one day I will elope here. Maybe ;)

Yelp
Nice clean room. Great location downtown. The staff were very kind and helpful. I left my toiletry kit and they mailed it to me back in CA and were so helpful. It's the best hotel room in Keene.

Lynne W.

Yelp
Exceeded expectations. Room was super clean and charming. All amenities were there - microwave, fridge, plenty of towels and a wonderful staff. Pricing was 'in line' with what I usually pay. I plan to stay there again.

Ray M.

Yelp
Two stars only because the decor is nicely appointed and updated, the A/C was cranking nice and cool and there was hot water with good pressure in the shower. I guess that should make it three stars; however after staying in this hotel where the traffic keeps you up all night and you can barely stay awake at the wheel driving the next morning and the first thing you want to do when you get home is catch up on sleep, that's not a good thing. If you stay here, don't stay in one of the rooms overlooking Main St. The motorcycles sound like they are drag racing around the circle all night long. The hotel is located at a set of traffic lights at a very busy intersection. I didn't realize downtown Keene had so much traffic. Also the doors seem to slam closed which kept waking me up whenever I was able to catch a wink, especially since my room was located right by the exit door. I had already switched rooms once because the first room they put me in was right by the front desk with everyone walking by and the windows were well above my head and I couldn't see out which made me feel claustrophobic. With the brick walls, it felt like a dungeon. I switched to an upper floor and it was more of what I expected with lots of light, but only one king bed. On my reservation as a platinum member, I have a standing request for two queen beds on a high floor; however when I got there, that was not available. Traffic seems to settle down once the restaurants and bars close downstairs. There is a power source for the Internet on the nightstand right next to your head that has a constant high-pitched chirping sound which is really annoying if you can hear it over the traffic noise. I could even hear the traffic while I was in the shower. Upon check-in they didn't let me choose if I wanted the refreshments or the points, they had already automatically applied the points reward. Upon check out they didn't seem to care how my experience was. They didn't even ask. I chose this hotel over the Courtyard Marriott, which is right down the street, because the location is right on Main Street & it is very convenient right near the restaurants, but it's right near the restaurants and bars. So if you're looking to get some sleep this may not be the ideal location. This is one of the top 5 worst night's sleep at a hotel in my life.

Laurie H.

Yelp
The hotel assigned my room "on the lower level." As I got off the elevator, I immediately smelled mold. I walked around the corner to my room, cracked open the door to see a very dark, basement room, that felt damp and the moldy odor was still present. I transferred to the Marriott Courtyard down the street (which is nice!) When I checked out of the Fairfield, after telling them this moldy odor was unacceptable, they proceeded to charge me in full. I called the manager this morning, as I was told to do, and he refused to refund my money. He didn't even bother to offer credit toward future Marriott stay. I had to call American Express and they are disputing the charge. Disappointed customer.

Yelp
My wife & I did some hiking at Royalston Falls & Doane's Falls in Royalston Ma & had a long weekend off due to Columbus day holiday so decided to stay over night @ Fairfield Inn & Suites in Keene NH. We were so glad we chose this hotel for the following reasons: Brenda at the front desk took my reservation, she was so helpful and patiently answered all of our questions!, When we arrived we found the hotel to be very CLEAN, room was very comfortable and had everything we asked for! The location is right downtown so lots of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. Tucker who also works at the front desk was also very helpful, sending me directions via email for parking location. But the biggest plus was BRENDA, she went out of her way to make sure my wife and I had everything we needed (she even offered to run outside to flag us down to help us locate the front of the hotel), she told us the history of the hotel building and the area and really made us feel welcome and at home. We also loved the feel & vibe of this "small boutique hotel". I always stay at Marriott hotels because of their cleanliness, great rates, helpful staff and great amenities. Thank you Brenda, we will definitely stay here again next time we are in Keene NH!

Yelp
Great decor! The hallway had a bit of a smell but nothing too bad. The staff was polite and friendly. There is a parking garage in back for you to park. I really liked the size and cleanliness of the room, and the brick adds a certain charm you don't get at other hotels.
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
This is a decent hotel for the price. The location is great, you're surrounded by restaurants and other businesses and you're right in the heart of downtown Keene. The staff is also friendly and easy to deal with. Unfortunately, you can often hear people in the rooms next to or above you if they have heavy feet or are talking above a whisper. There were some issues with a few of the outlets in the room not functioning and the mini-fridge in the room didn't get as cold as it should even though it was on max. The rooms themselves are spacious enough and relatively stylish and the bathroom is also nice. Parking is not the best but that's understandable considering the location. The hotel rents out spaces in a small parking garage behind the building so you have to do a bit of a walk to get to your vehicle. I should also mention that there are a LOT of cameras in the hallways of this hotel. This can either be a pro or a con but I don't feel the added security is necessary and the feeling of always being watched is a burden so I count this as a con.

Yelp
I slept all three nights I was there. ALL THREE NIGHTS. That has never happened before in a hotel, in my entire life. For that reason alone I would have given this place five stars (tip: room 304 is quiet, at least in the summer), but the staff is also phenomenal. I had terrific conversations and experiences with the day and night front-desk staff, the breakfast staff, the housekeepers, everyone- even the prep chef from the adjoining restaurant was a great guy. I witnessed a large party of children descend on the breakfast area as it was closing, and saw staff stay late a full hour, two mornings in a row, to accommodate guests (some quite rude). I hope they are all treated well by corporate, because every staff member I met went above and beyond expectations in all of their exchanges; I read for a while downstairs, and watched their professionalism time and time again, as they helped guests in every way imaginable- even finding accommodations elsewhere for walk-ins, when the Inn was full. I even saw one guest give Malerie (front desk) a hug after she managed to find him other accommodations for the next night, when he had given up hope, and then tell the next people coming in that she was the, "Best person in the world". You can't pay for word of mouth that good!

Yelp
Don't try to look for a marriott, otherwise you will never find this place. It goes by Fairfield. Though small, this establishment is nice. Good people who stay here, and the staffs are nice. Free breakfast. The rooms are a bit small, but it's acceptable for $104 a night without tax. black and white tiles in the bathroom, which I wish was marble instead. Also mounted in AC on the window, which made it a bit tacky. But I see they are trying to go the energy star route, so props. Free parking. Free wifi. Overall, solid, no complaints.
google avatar

Jesse B.

Yelp
The room was a good size and well decorated, and the bathroom seemed clean, the disaster of this hotel is the staff and management. After calling in advance to request a double Queen room instead of a single king, we were told that the hotel was unable to change the room type (even though there was an open room available) and that we would have to go through the booking site/agent in order for our needs to be accommodated. Upon arrival, we were told that the Queen room had "sold shortly after we got off the phone" and that they had instead put a "roll away bed" in the room for the inconvenience. Gee thanks. Plus one star because they included breakfast....we will see how that goes.... There were other establishments in the area for significantly less money that probably would've been much more accommodating to our needs.

Fernando A.

Yelp
The elevator is too slow, it was very aggravating. That being said, I was offered to check out late so that I could get work done the next morning and the hotel wasn't busy, so I was given a top floor room in a quiet corner. If you're sensitive to noise, avoid the first and second floors, especially facing Main Street, as you'll hear traffic. On the other hand being right downtown has some advantages too, like easy access to restaurants and cafes. Showtime is included with your stay, which was very nice. Overall it's probably a place I'd want to stay in again if I'm in the area. Super friendly customer service.

Yelp
No hot water in the room A/C did not work they had to reset it four times woke up in the middle of the night sweating to death room was 76° Stef would not fix hot water issue said it will be fixed tomorrow there's nothing they can do about it spoke to Corporate they simply told us to deal with the fucked us and they can help us...would not recommend due to horrible I repeat horrible customer service

Shameika M.

Yelp
Thank you Will for making it a great experience even at the last minute late check-in! The room was nice, clean and comfortable. First time at this Fairfield Inn location and I greatly appreciate the accommodations. If I'm in the area again in the future, will definitely stay here again!

Michele G.

Yelp
Since we were coming from California and it was my first time in the area I had no idea what to expect. The people at the front desk were exceptionally helpful and gave us a free upgrade! The room was a beautiful loft bigger than our LA apartment! The hotel was smack in the middle of downtown Keene walking distance from all the shops, bars, and restaurants! In the Morning I was really impressed with the full complementary breakfast! We loved it so much we didn't want to leave! Totally staying there every time I'm in Keene!
google avatar

Heidi P.

Yelp
Perfect. Got the two story loft which was great. Wish all rooms were like this. Had a floor for kids with bathrooms and tv for them. We were upstairs with our own bathroom and king size bed. Best mattress ever. Totally will stay here again if we are driving through new Hampshire.
google avatar

Yelp
This hotel has suites for a really sweet deal. The room is awesome. It is huge and comfy. The breakfast was good based on the fact It was included with the room but the eggs were like hard firm jello. WiFi is not a hassle. The only bad thing is the elevator. It is slow and from the lower level you can't take the stairs upstairs to the lobby it is only to the outside.
google avatar

V G.

Yelp
Booked a suite for valentines weekend with a whirlpool and sofa. 2 TVs and microwave. Huge space but it's on the lower level which has no stair access other than emergency exits. The elevator is molasses. I waited 10min once to get to the lobby.

Andrea S.

Yelp
We stayed here on a Friday night in June. A regular King room. The room was relatively clean except for the microwave oven which was filthy inside - had to clean the glass insert with soap and water in the sink. But the worst part was the entire night of no sleep. We would have slept fine in the very comfortable bed if not for the incessant loud noise of the wall mounted hardwired AC/heating unit. It is set on permanent "auto-fan" if not set for heat or cooling; so unless you are a very deep sleeper you will not be able to sleep. We called the front desk twice and they said it just does that because - "water circulates through the whole system (building)." By close to 1am we gave up calling about it. Changing to a different room would have been the same issue. Despite the great location and good breakfast offerings, we will not be staying here again. The manager apologized after the fact, but reiterated that the problem is due to the fact that it is an old building.

Yelp
FI are marketing themselves to business travelers not families so know that ahead of time. This review is for the Keene location. First the parking is in the municipal lot (on the second level) behind the hotel and is not connected to the FI. You have to walk across an open parking lot to enter from the back of the hotel which, if its raining is annoying but may not be the fault of FI. A covered walkway to the back stairs would be helpful. Also if driving guests have to use the back entrance it might be a good idea for FI to not have their stinky dumpsters next to the steps. We had a large very clean room w/ 10ft ceilings, 2 Q beds and a large modern bathroom. There are two little things that make me feel they don't want families; the bathroom sink vanity is taller than standard height making it very hard for a 7yr old to reach the sink to brush teeth. The mini fridge doesn't have a freezer compartment which seems like a minor thing but many families travel with a cooler bag and hope to be able to refreeze their ice pack overnight, but not here. (People w/diabetes or other health issues might also travel w/cooler bag and ice pack to keep medications cool. Just sayin') Despite the fancy room the beds were hard. (The FI in Portsmouth NH had the most comfortable deluxe beds I've ever slept in.) I don't expect a playroom or playground and kid centered foods available everywhere I go. Just little basic conveniences that make traveling easier. FI consistently have a great breakfast with many offerings such as make your own waffles, breakfast breads and pastries, breakfast meats, scrambled eggs, omelettes, hardboiled eggs, cooked oatmeal (not those pasty packets of instant oatmeal) and options of nuts, dried fruits, granola and syrup to add in addition to fresh fruit like grapes, diced melon, apples and bananas. Something for everyone. I usually travel with a little folding plastic step stool for my child to reach faucets but forgot it at home. A good thing is that the Fireworks restaurant can be reached from with the FI which helped avoid having to go out into the rain again for dinner. I like FI but won't stay at this one again and next time I'll call ahead and ask about the room fridge (I just assumed they all had freezers, FI in Portsmouth did).

Al I.

Yelp
We spent two nights here..rooms were very clean, staff very attentive to our needs. They have ramp access at the front and rear entrance. The front entrance just a bit tight for a wheel chair. As part of our stay, we received a $80 gift card to fireworks restaurant which is connected to the hotel. Overall, we were happy with our stay here. Free parking at the rear. There are couple places to eat which are walking distances from the hotel. Continental breakfast is very good.

John S.

Yelp
Make sure you don't get a room in the lower level. It's like being stuck in a basement with terrible fluorescent lighting. The half-height windows look out at sidewalk level. While the room was large, the layout and lighting made it feel more like a cave.

Yelp
Really wonderful stay here. Quiet, quaint, upscale hotel. Nice & solid accommodations! We were very impressed when we got upgraded to the 2 story king suite. Highly recommend this room! Very comfortable, cute deco, nice bathrooms. Not a lot to do in this area, but we would definitely return to this hotel & pay more for the suite!

LL I.

Yelp
The location is great but the front desk staff was incredibly rude when told about an air conditioning problem. There was also no blinds on the windows, just sheers, so hello sun at 5 a.m.! In addition, the entire hotel smelled moldy and funky. We talked to another guest who also had A/C issues. Rather than expecting people to call down at 2 a.m. to fix the A/C, why not make sure your equipment is working properly in the first place? And if they do complain, apologize, don't yell over them and be sarcastic.

Harris M.

Yelp
Rooms were well appointed and clean. Front desk was really friendly and the free breakfast was actually really good. Highly recommended.

Yelp
I travel often for work and mostly stay in a Marriott property. I chose the Fairfield Inn location over the brand new Marriott Courtyard because it was right on the downtown square and it looked cute/quaint. Don't get me wrong, the place is adequate for a one or two night stay, but I wouldn't pay top dollar for this place. As is typical with a Marriott property, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was adequate. In hindsight, I would stay at the new Marriott Courtyard that is in close proximity if passing through the area again and needed to stay overnight.
