"The next best thing to being a Monégasque? Surely a stay at the Fairmont Monte Carlo. Brand standards ensure spectacular services and top notch amenities and comfort. Iconic views of both sea and Grand Prix road below the cantilevered hills ensure that guests slide into the prestigious fantasy of the place with nary a hitch."
"Perched above the seafront on a steep, curved road, the Fairmont Monte Carlo is not necessarily the most luxurious or stylish place in the principality, but it’s a solid four-star choice, particularly for groups, conventions, and business travelers. The 602 rooms and suites vary in size, but all have comfortable, classic decor, necessary amenities, and some level of sea view. The hotel lobby is always humming with activity, thanks to the clanging slot machines of the on-site Sun Casino, and the steady stream of both hotel and outside guests frequenting celebrated Japanese restaurant Nobu, the Horizon Deck restaurant and Champagne bar (which boasts 360-degree views), and the all-day Saphir24 Bistro (which also serves a popular Sunday Jazz brunch and transforms into a late-night spot on the weekends). Additional summer season fun can be found at the Nikki Beach at Fairmont Monte Carlo all-day pool party. Other highlights include the Willow Stream Spa, where you can snack on healthy bento boxes in the post-treatment rooms, or visit the in-house hairdresser and make-up artist to prepare for an evening on the town."
We stayed in Fairmont for one night with the plan to come back after four days and spend four more nights in Fairmont. However, we were very disappointed with the hotel policy in trying to force us to pay for 2 rooms although the one we have booked online was sufficient.
For more context, I am travelling with my wife and our two small children (7 and 4 yo) and, although we've booked a room with 2 double beds (more than enough to suit our needs), we were informed that it is the hotel's policy to not allow more than 3 persons in the room. In other words, we should have booked 2 rooms just because of the 4 year old.
Most probably the second room would have stayed empty as the two double beds were more than enough for us, as you may observe from the photo. When asked why this policy, we were told that it is for security reasons, but to be honest our feeling was that it was for their own profit, not really caring about our needs. As it can be observed from the photo the 2 double beds are more than enough to suit 2 adults and 2 small children (7 and 4 yo).
In addition to that, the shower head from the bathroom was broken, one of the chairs on the balcony was broken (see attached foto) and it's been quite a while since anyone had washed the balcony. Food on the top floor restaurant was also disappointing.
So this hotel is not children friendly. Stay away if you are travelling as a family with small children and you don't feel like paying for rooms you don't really need. In the end we stayed in the booked room for one night, without paying for a second one, and we cancelled the other stay. The front desk didn't seem to care when cancelling our second stay and informing them of the reason.

My stay at the Fairmont Monte Carlo was a truly memorable experience.
The sea view from the first-floor lounge while enjoying a glass of wine was absolutely stunning, peaceful and unforgettable.
Enjoying Nikki Beach was an unforgettable part of my Monaco experience, the ambiance and service were outstanding.
I would especially like to thank the wonderful staff who made my stay so comfortable and pleasant.
Guillaume, who kindly escorted me to my room / The French gentleman at check-in, who was very welcoming and professional / The Italian lady at check-out, who handled everything smoothly / The young man who took care of my luggage / The Italian waiter who jokingly compared me to Lucy Liu/ And all the staff at the lounge and Nikki Beach, who were consistently friendly and attentive.
I also appreciated how kind and cheerful the housekeeping staff were. I often ran into them in the hallways, and they always greeted me with a smile, small gestures that made a big difference.
Everyone made me smile and reminded me how small, lighthearted interactions can make travel so much more personal and enjoyable.
One small moment I truly appreciated was when I called the front desk about a possible late check-out. Though I asked just in case, they generously offered me more time, which allowed me to wrap everything up calmly and leave without stress.
Every part of the stay reflected exceptional hospitality, and I would absolutely love to return.

We absolutely had our expectations exceeded with our stay here! Staff were very professional and took great care checking us in and having concierge help us to our suite. (Thank you Erick). The suite is incredible and perfect for our family with F1 car enthusiasts. Each of the 3 balconies in our suite offered spectacular views of the coast, and that infamous hairpin turn would draw our family out to watch cars day/night. Sitting or lounging on any balcony we could see many incredible cars and yachts with the Monte Carlo back drop. What a view! The service was also top notch from the second we got out of our vehicle. We truly loved the stay at this hotel. Fantastic location to walk to excellent restaurants they recommended and helped book for us. Very central to walk to shopping or site seeing. Our family enjoyed both pools and the views too. Breakfast at the restaurant was a perfect way to start our day with local fresh foods. We loved it here!

Santiago and Giuseppe at the front desk were awesome. They exhibit all the traits of high customer service. The pool area was impeccable clean and the staff did everything to ensure we enjoyed our time swimming in the pool. I can not forget the breakfast staff in the restaurant; always with a smile on their faces! The food at the pool and restaurant was tasty and perfectly cooked. We had room 4054 with a great view of sea. The room was spacious and well appointed. The hotel is steps away from the casino. We are definitely com8ng back!

Upon arrival, we had to switch rooms three times! The first room was seemingly in the basement, had no air conditioning, and the bed sounded like it was 100 years old with squeaky springs! Our second room had a safe that was not secured at all and simply sitting on the shelf, waiting for someone to remove it along with our valuables. The hotel management was not extremely helpful and simply offered us a drink in the bar for all of our troubles. Not being drinkers, we just ripped it up. I’m sure if it appeared that we had the money of some of the many other guests, our concerns would’ve been addressed more quickly and efficiently.
Supposedly the hotel had been updated not too long ago. While the rooms looked pretty, the hallways and common areas where the rooms are look horrible and dirty. It looks like you're in the bottom of a cargo ship.
While the room on the six floor was well appointed and comfortable, the noise from the party pool on the seventh floor, and the scraping up tables and chairs in the restaurant on the seventh floor, made a good nights sleep difficult. There doesn’t seem to be any design/sound proofing to prevent excessive noise to guests.
To add insult to injury, because they had all of the doors open in the restaurant, there were a high amount of wasps and even birds. As a result, I was stung by a wasp before breakfast had even been started. And many of the birds were walking on the counter where the food is and even sitting on some of the warm containers containing food (eg. bacon, potatoes, pancakes etc.) They have ceiling fans in the restaurant so the doors to the deck should stay closed.
Extremely disappointed and it definitely affected our overall visit to Monaco. This is definitely not even a four-star hotel and should be avoided at all costs.

The staff and the general hotel experience was excellent. I also appreciated the upgrade. But the breakfast selection and quality of food needs a complete overhaul. Even the coffee was awful. I realize you are a large Hotel with a massive number of guests and this can be difficult to service. But the breakfast was two stars compared to a five star experience. The location is your biggest asset and improvements to the external and some internal upgrades will benefit the property.

I’ve been to Monaco and the South of France a few times before, but this was my very first stay at the Fairmont Monte Carlo.
Honestly, I was a tiny bit worried it might feel dated—it’s such a historic hotel, after all—but those fears disappeared the moment I walked into my room. It seems they’ve done some refurbishing, so while it has a classic charm, it doesn’t feel old at all.
My room had a green color scheme, which I absolutely loved—totally my style!
During my stay, the hotel happened to be undergoing some renovations, and I did see work going on during the day, but surprisingly, there was no real noise disturbance.
The staff were incredibly friendly🫶🏻 They remembered my name after just one conversation, greeted me every time we crossed paths, and would chat with me during meals—full of warmth and genuine hospitality. (Maybe it helped that I speak English!)
The sea view was breathtaking—I only ended up taking photos of breakfast because I was too busy soaking it all in! Next time I’m in Monaco, I’ll definitely be back at the Fairmont🤍
