"Arriving via the grand palm tree-lined avenue sets the tone for what is one of the most historic properties in Barbados. The Fairmont Royal Pavilion was formerly The Miramar Hotel, built in the 1940s and the first hotel to be constructed on the west coast of Barbados. These days, its 12 rooms have since been expanded to 75 showstoppers—all with unspoiled ocean views and featuring handcrafted woodwork, local artworks, and navy-blue accents. Stay in one of the ground floor rooms and you can pad across the sand every morning for a dip in the sea. Upper-level rooms have their own advantages—breezy terraces with curvy rattan daybeds and endless views over the arc of Alleynes Bay. The hotel has heritage sewn into its shell-pink walls, so you can expect traditional afternoon teas and refined Bajan cuisine conjured up by chef Tim Palmer (the crab cake with coconut curry emulsion is the star of the show). The glorious gardens, originally designed by renowned South American landscape architect, Fernando Tabora, are a joy. Atriums and shady paths are lined with mango, breadfruit, cherry, and banana trees; frangipani cascades over courtyards and ponds are pretty with red and white lilies which bloom at night. Book a botanical tour every Wednesday morning to find out more about some of the rare plants and discover that there’s more to this coastline than just the beach. —Angelina Villa-Clarke" - Angelina Villa-Clarke, Rosalyn Wikeley

We recently had our wedding ceremony and reception at Royal Pavilion (RP). It was the best experience and hospitality we have ever received. From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty and received a complimentary room upgrade to one of their villas. During our wedding reception they put a mini wedding cake, champagne, towel swan, and petals in our room. The next morning when we arrived for breakfast all of the staff came up to us to congratulate us and say hello. The food was exceptional, service impeccable, and we will remember that day forever. RP went above and beyond our wildest expectations and we can’t thank the entire RP staff enough.

We stayed here as part of our holiday to Barbados and had been recommended by friends. Our room was lovely with a stunning sea view which all rooms at the hotel have. On the penultimate night though our air conditioning stopped working and we had to spend a night in another room in another block. This wasn’t ideal and we were surprised not to receive any real apology for this. We found the service at breakfast a little bit sporadic and not what you would expect from a 5 star hotel until the last day when it improved. We ate dinner at the hotel one night and found this to be very good although it was very quiet and lacked atmosphere. As a result we ate out for the rest of our stay and liked lone star which was just a short walk away. There was no real beach service when we were there which was surprising. We would return based on the location, beach, room quality but would hope service had improved.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ From the moment we arrived, our experience at Fairmont Royal Pavilion was exceptional. We were warmly welcomed by the Director of Rooms, Michael, who personally escorted us in and provided a brief but insightful overview of this stunning hotel. The design is truly magnificent, blending elegance with a relaxed, tropical charm. During our visit to Taboras, we had the pleasure of being served by Seth, who was incredibly attentive and provided excellent service. The food was outstanding—super fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. We also had the opportunity to meet the Director of Food & Beverage, Ramazan, who was fantastic and made us feel even more at home. This is an excellent spot for a lovely brunch, and we couldn’t have asked for a better setting to enjoy it. We ended our visit with a glass of wine on the decking, soaking in the breathtaking views. Highly recommended!

This is definitely not a 5* hotel and should not be selling itself as such and charging 5* prices. The hotel is very tired and dated, shabby in areas. The pool is dirty. It is difficult to get a sunbed on the beach as the beach attendant puts books out saving them for all his favourite guests who have paid him to do so at 6.30-7.00 am every morning, some of those sunbeds remain unused all morning.||The selection at breakfast is good however the quality of the food is very poor. The service of the staff is inconsistent. Sometimes it's ok but a lot of the time it is bad. Some staff are friendly but a lot of staff are just rude and have an attitude problem.||We ordered things on many occasions that just never turned up and we gave up waiting.||The gym is very tired and dirty, old and outdated equipment, some of it not working for the duration of our visit (2 weeks). ||The only positive thing I can say about the hotel is its location. The big issue it is selling itself as 5* and charging 5* prices and it really isn't - it is more like a 3-4* hotel and if that is what you want then you will be ok but if you have paid the 5* price and expect 5* you will be disappointed. ||We had several other guests staying at the same time as us who we also heard complaining about exactly the same things. This was not my first visit to this hotel, I stayed back in 2017 and it has deteriorated since then and it is very apparent that there has been no investment in the property and it badly needs it to bring it up to standard.

Beautiful hotel with lovely and welcoming staff. Alison has been particularly special to us and our daughter. Breakfast is always served with a smile and swiftly.

Overall unsatisfactory due to the availability of seating on the beach. Loungers booked early by clients and left vacant for hours. Palm restaurant, very slow service and food was disappointing for the cost. Loved our room and staff were excellent.

We just checked in at the hotel. What to say. I’m crying, literally. We’re still here and I’m terrified that I have to stay for 3 more nights here. When we booked it the photos were outstanding, it’s the opposite in the reality. |the hotel in need of updating and renewal. The entrance drive felt dull and the car park looks scary.|It’s not 5 star hotel. It looks like 3 star marina with a nice view. The room is very tired with dirty furniture. |But the worst thing we paid for these rooms so much money, so we could stay at a huge modern private villa with a chef and butler.|Doesn’t worth it|Very disappointed
