Absolutely Disgraceful Stay – Unit 20 Is a Time Capsule for All the Wrong Reasons||Unit 20 at Fairshore Apartments is, without exaggeration, one of the most tired, dated and poorly maintained properties I’ve ever stayed in. The entire unit looks like it hasn’t seen a cent of investment since it was built nearly 30 years ago. Paint chips on multiple walls, worn surfaces, table and chairs that look and feel like they were picked up from kerbside collection, door handles that are sharper than the knives in the kitchen, ‘repairs’ that further detract from the ‘ambience’ and fixtures that have clearly been “making do” for decades set the tone from the moment you walk in.||The appliances are equally depressing. The fridge—set to the coldest temperature—was barely cold. The dishwasher appears to be 15–20 years old and looks like it’s had the same number of years’ buildup inside it. The bathroom was no better, with mould visible in the shower and fittings that have long passed their use-by date. It’s painfully obvious the owner has spent the absolute bare minimum on this property over the years.||This might be forgivable at $100 or even $200 a night. But at around $700 per night, it is downright disgraceful. For that rate, you expect quality, comfort, and at the very least a property that doesn’t resemble a 30-year-old budget motel room somewhere in central Queensland.||We’ve paid a premium price for the most substandard accommodation I’ve stayed in since I was a child 40 years ago.||An utterly disappointing experience from start to finish. I would strongly urge others to avoid Unit 20 unless the owner undertakes a full and much-overdue renovation.
