"The only existing French plantation house on St. Kitts, the Fairview Great House was built circa 1701 and originally housed French military officers. Today, guests can tour the beautifully restored property, taking in the period furnishings, kitchen, apiary, chapel, and bathhouse before exploring the two-and-a-half acres of botanical gardens, filled with tropical flowers, fruit trees, and monkeys. Visitors can also purchase day passes to the property’s swimming pool and sunny deck, or sign up for cooking classes and tastings of St. Kitts’ own Brinley Shipwreck Gold Rum."

So glad we visited here! Such beautiful gardens and a very interesting house. The information throughout the house was clear and informative. However, the slave exhibition in the basement of the house was, for me, the most impressive feature. It was very well presented, offered great detail and although incredibly sad, an amazing presentation of such important and pertinent information. We visited out of the main season so some of the 'attractions' such as cooking presentations and the gift shop were closed. We didn't use the swimming pool or bar, but they looked very clean and appealing. Signs on the road to show which turning to take were non-existent (well we didnt see any) and the road leading up to the house was extremely treacherous / so bumpy and uneven. This is my 4th time in St kitts and I have never even heard of this house before - I discovered it by chance. I am so surprised that it is not more well advertised as a tourist attraction, as it is most certainly worth a visit.

This was superb. We booked it as a tour from our cruise. The house was lovely, with gorgeous views and gardens; thehistory was really interesting; the rum tasting was generous and enjoyable and our guide, Doreen, entertaining and lovely. The rum isn't expensive (although it's supposedly a bit cheaper at the port) so worth buying here, as it keeps the museum going.

It's definitely worth a visit and it's a bargain at only 5usd. The house itself is gorgeous both inside and out, and the outbuildings are worth poking around in. There is a lot of information even withput a tour guide. I enjoyed taking my time without a guide. Don't miss the highly informative and unsettling history of the slave trade in the basement. The bath house is also worth checking out. I can't imagine how long it would take to fill that thing, and all by hand too! The beautifully manicured gardens have lots of signs describing the plants and trees and some interesting facts about them. It's a very peaceful and relaxing spot. Finally, if you are so inclined, you can do a rum tasting for $15 in the verandah bar. This was one of the highlights of my trip to St Kitts.

Stopover on a cruise excursion tour. Wonderful house to visit and learn a bit about history in St Kitts. We were free to walk around and - there was plenty of signage for a self-guided tour. Great views (probably my favorite) of St Kitt, and well-tended to botanical gardens.

Had a great time looking around the great house. The history is super interesting. Of course for us the Rum tasting was the main event. Doreen was awesome. Really funny and engaging. Highly recommend.

We had a lovely cooking and rum tasting tour here. Such a lovely selection of rum we had to take home a couple bottles. We really enjoyed the cooling demonstration and tasting too. A little time exploring the gardens and the buildings and a short time relaxing by the pool was a great way to spend the morning. Very glad we chose this excursion from our Celebrity cruise while we were in port.

This was the first stop on our tour of St Kitts. Plan to spend at least 45 min to an hour here as there’s so much to explore, read and learn. The house is extremely well preserved with so many details you’ll be delighted, especially if your an avid history student.

Beautiful, and lovely restoration job. We got a tour and the guide was a very lovely lady with a perfect sense of humor for giving tours, informative and knowledgeable. Got to try some of the rum too; that's a 10/10 rum. I absolutely will be back.
