I was in Jackson overnight for a business meeting. My room was spacious and very comfortable. The Library Bar is wonderful. I met old friends there and had drinks before going out to dinner. We also had a nightcap after dinner. The staff were incredibly professional, kind, and accommodating with my requests. I will definitely stay here one Torie visits. I highly recommend this Inn…and the bar for drinks anytime!

This was a great ending to my first state road trip. I wanted to stay in an old Mississippi home and this certainly was that. It’s a lovely place, well appointed and lovingly taken care of. My room was delightful. The library bar was also very intimate. The neighborhood was very walkable and it was very close to a bunch of restaurants nearby. I would highly recommend for couples. It was a little quiet for solo person.

Wonderful stay! Hotel is absolutely beautiful, clean and comfortable. Great job depicting its historical significance. We enjoyed dinner in the Library Lounge ; fabulous dinner, cocktails and attentive service. Breakfast is delightfully Southern and yummy. Highly recommend!

There was a wedding happening upon our arrival. We met Tamar, the owner, who greeted us with a smile! She gave us our room key and off we went. Our room was very spacious and beautifully decorated. After settling in, we went down to one of their outdoor seating areas to relax. Meals were great. The grounds are simply breathtaking! So much charm. Highly recommend this quaint Inn!

Room was very clean, spacious, and well appointed. Library Lounge restaurant was outstanding. Entire staff was very professional, efficient, and welcoming. We normally try to stay at very high end properties on our travels and this property matched and exceeded all our expectations. We felt prices were very attractive for the quality provided. . Highly recommend.

Wow where do I begin? Such a lovely beautiful place to visit for the weekend. Our good friends had a wedding there and how wonderful they accommodate everything. Our room was so lovely and the bed was so comfortable ….perfect! Such a fantastic weekend and a wonderful 10 Star Pl. to stay.

Google
This an absolutely lovely place to stay. The grounds are beautifully kept and the hotel is overall very nice My only complaint is that the room we stayed in was very dark and there were no drawers to utilize if you want to unpack. I get that it is an older historic building that they are trying to preserve but some brighter bulbs in the wall sconces would be a big improvement. Also, there was nothing with drawers in the room so we had to leave our suitcases out in the middle of the room; if you’re staying more than a couple of days that would be very inconvenient. There was a small cabinet that had a coffeemaker on top, I thought I could use that but it was filled with books That said, I will say it was very nice place and it was very clean

Only spent one night while traveling through Jackson, but wish we could have stayed longer! Lovely hotel, luxurious bed, cozy dark bar, and surprisingly great food. We ate a light supper in the bar and had breakfast too. One of the best eggs benedict (the Jackson) I have ever had. The hotel was well maintained (some "historic" places are not). We enjoyed the Dayton Cooper Room.

Yelp
I reserved a Christmas Eve limited menu dining experience for my sister and me. My sister has a disability but I pulled reconnaissance on the location and managed quite well to get into the restaurant with no problems. Sadly, that's the only thing that went well. I've got nothing good to say after this point, so if the reader prefers to not go any further then close this review now. We waited longer than we felt necessary to get our drinks ordered. We then waited at least 45 minutes for appetizers, both oysters Bienviille, which had no flavor at all. Truly tasteless. By the time we had semi-completed the appetizers, we were desperately looking for our waitron for drink refills. Once those actually got ordered, they showed up at the same time as the main dishes. The restaurant was not close to being full, so not sure why the kitchen took so long to prepare the dishes. I ordered scallops, which like the oysters, had no taste at all. Really, having to shake salt and pepper on scallops just to be able to taste them? And then to get the amazingly large set price for the meal, plus drinks, tax,and tip was most insulting! Never again will I (we) grace the door of that restaurant! The actual location of this restaurant is in a beautiful old home with great outdoor seating options. But, it just emphasizes the old saying that you can't judge a book by its cover.

Yelp
We decided to book something special for our first time in MS. We stayed in the Cannonball room #11. Pros: 1: Room was huge and located on 1st floor. Bathroom very large also and well appointed. Exceptional lighting. 2. Kitchen access upstairs for ice, free soda, coffee, tea or water, homemade cookies bt elevator or stairs. Honor system for alcohol (we didnt try any). 3. Accommodating pleasant staff. 4. Old historic house and small but pretty grounds you can walk around. The magnolias are ancient and spectacular. Wish we could have seen them in bloom. 5. Can order nicely prepared meals to room or eat in library lounge - breakfast or dinner. Def an old southern feel to the place. Cons: 1. Parking was tight and hard to to manuever but they did have a cart available for rooms that are further away - partially broken. 2. In downtown area, kind of dingy and run down - but somewhat charming w many old craftsman homes around. 3. Could have used some hanging baskets and annuals for more color and charm - would help brighten the mood of the run down area of town - 4. And wish theyd answer the phones. We left messages almost everytime we called (they were good about calling back). This leaves one feeling disconnected from a warm hospitable experience.

Yelp
This is the TOP Bar in Jackson, Hands Down! If you are a serious lover of cocktails you must go to the Library Lounge. No Jack-and-cokes allowed. Enjoy a classic cocktail ( Aviation, Pegu Club, etc. ) or one of their author-inspired originals. They are all fabulous. Atmosphere is wonderful. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Beautiful historic hotel and grounds (5-star). Comfortable luxury suites (5-star). Library Room dining had more of a pub feeling with round back arm lounge chairs, that didn't cater for comfortable eating (3-star). Also, a bit noisey and crowded, but it was Christmas holiday's season. Dinner was nice, though the kitchen cooked my steak well done and my wife's rare; should have been the other way around. Waitress explained that that happens sometimes (2-star). All staff very accommodating and pleasant. Highly recommend. Overall 4-star.

Yelp
I've visited spas in California, Arizona, Washington DC, France. Nomispa is a gem. If it was an option I'd give Dr Kathy 6 stars.

Yelp
Ashamed to admit, I have lived in the Jackson, MS area for some twenty years, and was not aware of the Fairview Inn. After learning of the Inn, I decided to celebrate the buffet on Mother's Day there. It was by far one of the best meals I have had in a long time. The service and atmosphere were equally outstanding. I highly recommend the Fairview Inn.

Yelp
Stayed in the inn a night prior to an interview . Came at night and liked the way it was illuminated in the front. I checked myself in and got a room. Of course, the room no was 13. I am little superstitious about that number. I was too tired to ask for any other room. It was an extension form the main building. Decoration was average. Liked to see old fashioned lights. The closet could not be opened full , the bedside table was obstructing it. The TV. was too small to watch, did not bother to turn it on. Love to see some upgrades there. Like to have either net cable in each room. May be bigger TV. The food was good. Need more old fashioned decoration in the room. Love to come back again, definitely not in room 13. Hope to get a room in the main building.

Yelp
This place is MAGICAL! Beautiful! The staff goes above and beyond to make sure you feel like you're at home. When you walk inside, you can immediately feel the warmth and the magic in the air. I never want to stay anywhere else when I visit Jackson. It was a surprise trip for my husband's birthday. I ordered a cake and it was by far the best most delicious cake we've ever tasted. You have to visit this place at least once. The home is very elegant. The library has a small bar inside. The breakfast was AMAZING. Don't take my review lightly. This place is a MUST.

Yelp
Oh, where to begin... Last year my girlfriend and I spent a wonderful night at the Inn. We enjoyed a couple of drinks at the Library, the bar onsite. Off to dinner and back for a great night of sleep. Fast forward to last Friday night, January 28th. After attending a charity event downtown, all 6 of us chose to spend our hard earned dollars and grace the bar with our presence. We sat down in a slightly congested area and asked if we might move to a completely empty section just a few steps away and were less than politely refused. So we, as kind and gentle PAYING CUSTOMERS agreed to just order where we sat. Drinks were delivered and 3 of us had ordered Old Fashions. What arrived and what we sampled were the lowest quality drinks I've ever tried. So, as PAYING CUSTOMERS, we kindly sent the drinks back to hopefully replace the gas station version we had just tried. Nope! Not any better. So my girlfriend scooped them up and approached the bar to speak with the, uh, person who considers themself to be a qualified bartender. After being berated by said individual, I stood up and defended the unacceptable treatment my lovely woman was being subjected to. I inquired if we had a problem and the , uh, (bartender) began to berate me using words from a less than educated vocabulary. Needless to say, we abandoned at this point and decided to just get out of there. Please consider carefully if choosing to imbibe at the bar in the Fairview Inn. Not only will you receive less than adequate service and product, you might get threatened with expulsion as I did because you simply expected them to treat PAYING CUSTOMERS the way they should be treated. Good luck! You're gonna need it!

Yelp
The Fairview Inn in Jackson, MS is conveniently located near the downtown area and adjacent to the beautiful campus of Belhaven University. This historic area provides a charming and safe haven for overnight stays with convenience to shopping and entertainment if so desired...although, I sought privacy and solitude during my stay. And the grounds provided many outdoor sitting areas with 100 year old magnolia trees and lush landscaping that was perfect for chillaxing during a couple brisk November afternoons. The historic home was fascinating with it's interesting features, was well maintained and updated, included a wonderful lounge, numerous indoor sitting areas, fabulous restaurant and rooms. The Chef has created unique menu items that were presented beautifully and tasted even better! The staff was attentive and very polite. Definitely recommend for a quick getaway or extended stay if you're looking for an experience off the beaten path of a typical hotel or motel when the experience matters!

Yelp
We stayed here for our brother's on-site wedding. The staff was top notch and took such good care of us! Our room was huge with a separate sitting area and the biggest bathroom I've ever seen. Beds were very comfortable and it was so quiet at night. There's a guest pantry that's well stocked with free sodas, water, and cookies and you can easily buy beer, wine, or other snacks. The only issue we encountered was with the tiny elevator in the main house. It didn't work all the time because you had to really push the upstairs door shut for it to operate, and not all the guests were great at doing so. As a result, our grandmother had to take the stairs most of the weekend. She was okay with it, but a new elevator (like there is in the newer part of the inn) would be a nice improvement.

Flory W.

Yelp
Very luxurious place! I love the garden, the gazebo, the maze, the hammock, the benches, what is there not to like? We roam around the inside of the Inn, and checked it out, and walked around the garden. One problem, the keys are difficult to open on all doors (inside & outside). Our car is parked right outside our window, and we have 3 windows on the bottom level. I took a lot of photos & shared on my Facebook album. I'll update tomorrow when we have breakfast.

Yelp
My husband and I spent a Friday night in early February, 2022 at the Fairview Inn. The Fairview Inn is beautiful and the staff are very nice. We stayed in the Tack Room. The room was very nice. One of the quirky and best features of the room was a private elevator that took us straight to the breakfast dining room! It was so cool! We did not have to walk outside in the very cold weather to the Inn's entrance. From the breakfast room, we wound our way through the Inn to the Library Lounge where we had dinner that evening. Our best meal of the trip was that dinner. The lamb was cooked perfectly, the steak could have been cut with a spoon and was also cooked perfectly. Our waitress was delightful and provided many suggestions of what we could do the next day. The complimentary breakfast was very good. And, of course, we used the private elevator to go to and from the breakfast room. If we have the opportunity to go back, we will stay a couple of nights in the Tack Room.

Yelp
Amazing experience! Will definitely come back. Stayed in the Greek suite, and it did not disappoint.

Bryan M.

Yelp
Food was absolutely fantastic! However we haven't had a good experience w/o the the staff in our last two stays. We have had nothing but problems and the staff wasn't helpful at all. We live in the area and love to get away from the every day life of suburbia! I really wish they were better because the inn is awesome, but don't expect them to provide good customer service and to make their wrongs right. They do not care about the customer and are only worried about the almighty dollar!! Good luck to anyone who stays!!

Kris A.

Yelp
Great place! It was built over 100 years ago and you can feel the nostalgia the second you enter. This was our first time at a B&B vs a hotel and we loved all of the extra amenities. We stayed in the Greek Suite which is actually in a section that was built 15 yrs ago. It was nice because we had our own side entrance/ exit to use near our parking spot. The room was spacious with a working fire place. The whirlpool tub was modern with a waterfall spout. Since we were celebrating our anniversary, we added champagne and choc covered strawberries. The strawberries were some of the best Ive ever had! Cookies and drinks are available in the evening. The breakfast was served down the hall in its own room and was plentiful. The milk, juice and coffee station was self serve, you sat family style and chose 2 courses from a breakfast menu. The food was really good especially the biscuits. We ordered the grits, eggs, bacon option and belgium waffle. No complaints and we could barely finish it all. We also enjoyed the Library Bar near the main entrance. Its a cozy little bar with a fire place and craft cocktails. We are already looking forward to our next trip to Jackson because we already know where we will be staying! Oh and theres an awesome restaurant around the corner on Manship Street that will blow your socks off.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed only one night at the Fairview in due to an in-and-out work meeting I was delighted to find a bed and breakfast that was centrally located. The Inn was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Breakfast was wonderful we had a great time.

SNACKe R.

Yelp
Stunning. The rooms are decorated flawlessly. Grounds are fantastic. Breakfast was really good. A library with thousands of books on the Civil War, many of them first editions. I'm going back.

Highly Recommended The restaurant is open Monday to Friday....5pm to 930pm

Yelp
Had it not been for LivingSocial, we would have never found this not so little slice of heaven. First of all, they get an A+ on flexibility. We had to change our reservations three times because of natural disasters, the Army schedule, and construction zones on the interstate as we drove halfway across the country to get here. This is my first time staying at a bed and breakfast, and it never dawned on me that there are no employees at the front desk manning the phones late at night. When I called to change my reservations, I was never met with a feeling of putting the person who answered the phone at 11pm out of their way for calling so late. It wasn't until I checked in that I realized how rude I was being when I would call so late. Even then, it was not from anything they said or their attitudes, just my observation that there is no night staff for the front office after 10pm. When we drove up to the front of the B&B, I felt like we had found an oasis of beauty in the middle of a blah city. The pristine front drive was surrounded with emerald green grass that has been manicured to perfection. The U shaped driveway took us right to the front door of an early 1900's colonial mansion. The large front porch filled with rocking chairs, comfy bench seats, and plantation house pillars just whisper to you, "come over, have a seat and relax for a minute." But that is nothing compared with what you experience after opening the front door. I'll let you enjoy their website and some pictures on here for the rest of the description, but let me tell you that as beautiful as the place looks in pictures, you MUST see the place in person to experience how marvelous it is. We were met by a joyful, charming woman who helped us check in. We were delighted to find out that we were upgraded (without asking for it, and without hinting about how nice it would be to experience the suite) for our evening getaway. After walking through the entire mansion, and walking into our suite, my husband looked at me with the pleading of a small child when he asked, "Honey, can we please extend our stay for one more evening?" We couldn't wait to make our way back to the front of the mansion to ask if they had availability. I love the staff here almost as much as I love the house. They respect your privacy, waiting until you make the small talk before they get super chatty with you. But once you get that train started with conversation, take a seat! They love to converse with their guests! From the cleaning ladies to the wait staff at the restaurant, from the front desk gals to the owners... they each have a different story and each seem to love nothing more than to take the time to talk with you. I'll bet my husband and I spent at least 2 hours last night chatting with different employees around here, and we had to peel ourselves away from the lovely chatting to get freshened up for supper. Oh, and let me tell you about supper! The soup was velvety, the salad was crunchy and fresh! The rolls were little puffs of clouds that melted in your mouth as you bit into them. The wine was refreshing and smooth. The main course was full of flavor, texture, and more than filling. The dessert was so delicious that we forced ourselves to eat every bit even though we were full after the first couple of bites. We stayed well after they had closed, but never felt rushed to get out. We have extended our stay another night, with plans to come back at least once a year to enjoy our little getaway. DO NOT miss out on this wonderful experience. You will regret that you haven't made this place a priority on your vacation list! I'm off to go enjoy more of the Fairview.

Maelyn L.

Yelp
I do love this place. Each room is unique. I stay at least 6 times a year. Would be 5 stars if I could take a bath 1 time. I found hair in tub. Yuck. It almost made me not return. Glad I gave the a second chance. I would recommend highly.

Yelp
We stayed one night here while on a lengthy road trip, it was our very first b&b. Our first visit was so good that we booked it again for our way home. The second stay is where it all went wrong. For our first stay we booked the Greek room. It blew away all my preconceived ideas I had about b&bs. It was well appointed, modern, and had conveniences that you rarely find in hotels (I.e. separate shower and jacuzzi). The room even had a separate sitting room that was surrounded by Windows. We had a drink at the library bar and then dinner at 1908 provisions, the on site restaurant. Both were expensive, but well worth it. The sweet tea bbq chicken is phenomenal. This first experience would have earned a solid 5 stars in my opinion. The second stay was booked last minute, the only remaining room was the magnolia. It was more expensive than the Greek room. We made the unfortunate mistake of assuming this meant it was the same quality or better. Later we learned that this is one of the original rooms built with the rest of the house. It is over 100 years old and has not aged well. There were cracks in the walls, floors, and tiles. It had the jacuzzi tub but it also served as the shower in some horrid combination. The wooden floor felt like they would give way beneath my feet. Paint was peeling off all of the walls and doors. None of the doors closed properly, and the lock on the entry door did not work. I think This room also sits somewhere above the library bar. It is very noisy. The last straw was the dirty stained sheets on the bed. We left the key in the room and ran away... Complete nightmare. This stay would have been rated 1 star. Overall I DO suggest staying here with one caveat. Call ahead and make sure you are in one of the newly built rooms.

Yelp
I stay here when I'm Jackson and it's always great! Really nice rooms, breakfast, bar, and restaurant. Never disappointed!

Kim L.

Yelp
We chose to host my son's rehearsal dinner at the Fairview Inn. To say they exceeded our expectations would be an understatement. I live in Jackson and knowing the history of the Fairview, our expectations were pretty high to begin with. All three of our entree selections were out of this world. We had two guests with food allergies and they easily accommodated them without sacrificing the quality of the food. I have a special needs son, as well, and the staff could not have been kinder and more attentive to him. It was a wonderful dinner and I am still receiving positive comments from those that attended!

Tammy O.

Yelp
Enjoyed our stay at the Fairview Inn. The room was fantastic and the service we received was even better. Thank you!

Yarda R.

Yelp
I stayed one night at the Tack Suite and enjoyed it. You have your own private elevator to the main house and separate back entrance from your carport. That's very convenient. I enjoyed the privacy. I had dinner at Sophia's Restaurant and everything was excellent. It's is an upscale venue, so make sure you dress up. The main house is large with many places to sit down, read a book or newspaper, meet with friends, or simply relax. I enjoyed the separate kitchen for the guests with free coffee and pastry. While the staff is nice and professional, don't expect a really personal experience like at other smaller B&B's where the inn keepers take care of everything. The only thing I was disappointed about was the breakfast. It was a standard bacon/sausage/biscuit deal. While that's enough to fill you up, I would enjoy a couple of unique offerings, since they do advertise a "true Southern Breakfast".

Lisa S.

Yelp
FLAWLESS!! Unfortunately, I was not an overnight guest at the Inn - only there for a luncheon. BUT it was the best luncheon I've had the pleasure of attending , maybe ever ! More than 100 people gathered for the - food and service were flawless. We were served salmon over a mashed potato with what seemed to be a honey- chipotle glaze, whole green beans. Next to Table 100 it was the best prepared salmon I've had since leaving my home in Wa., where salmon their catfish, you can get it any and everywhere. OH, I almost forgot the incredible salad . Mixed greens, topped with walnuts, cranberries, pears and a dollop of goat cheese. Drizzled with a house vinaigrette that was more tart than sweet and balanced the fruit to PERFECTION! I NEVER ever opt for fruit on a salad and I'd order this again and again. I hear they have a great brunch on Sunday and even better 'special Holiday Brunches'. While I previously may have shied away based on their prices - they earn their keep. Will return - one day. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Henry A.

Yelp
Stayed at the Fairview recently. Hotel and experience was fantastic! Pictures of rooms and facilities did not do justice to the hotel. Breakfast was also fantastic! Will definitely stay again.

Sentoria H.

Yelp
The Fairview Inn is so beautiful. The owners Peter and Tamar are so sweet. We stayed there for our 1st anniversary and had dinner in 1908. I ran into the owners and they were so into what I had to say about their business. I really liked that.

Nancy W.

Yelp
My suite (The Spanish Suite) at the Fairview Inn was the most beautiful room I've ever stayed in for under $300. And I've been to many hotels and B&B's around the world. This was great value. There are other rooms that are less expensive, but just as comfortable and lovely. This historic B&B makes you never want to leave Jackson, or the building. I had breakfast in the restaurant (came with the room price) -- excellent food. I know they also serve dinner, but I didn't take advantage of that. Next time I'm in Jackson, I'm definitely staying at the Fairview Inn. This is lovely southern comfort. Highly recommended.

Yelp
You will not find a better preparation of good and tasty Sunday brunch food . Great ambiance for a Sunday morning feast. It's nice to have quiet place to dine that quite possibly reminds you of childhood special mealtimes.
