We stayed at the Falkenstiener over the Christmas week for a ski holiday. My whole family were very impressed with the hotel. The staff were all very attentive and friendly. We're all English speaking from the UK, but that was no problem. The food was very good quality and varied. We particularly enjoyed the gala dinner on Christmas Eve, including the live music, complementary cocktail and readings. The hotel is modern and stylish, yet remains charming with the use of wood throughout. The facilities, including the indoor/outdoor pool and the adult spa area were great and we used them on most days to relax our muscles. From a skiing point of view, the hotel overlooks the black slope into the village where the famous slalom night race is held. The boot room is spacious with lockers available. The bus stop to the Planai ski lift is just outside the hotel. We did walk back to the hotel on a couple of occasions, but it was better to catch the bus if we timed it right. It was also possible to switch buses at the Planai lift and travel to other parts of the wider ski area up and down the valley. Overall, this is a stunning hotel and we'd love to visit again.

We had a fantastic stay at Falkensteiner in Schladming. The hotel looks even better in person than in the photos. The wellness area is amazing, and the food with our half board exceeded all expectations. Every staff member was extremely polite and helpful. A special highlight was the Herbstcard, which gave us free access to the cable car and several local attractions. Highly recommended!

A stunning hotel with really welcoming staff. We arrived early and had full use of their incredible spa - one of the best I’ve seen at a hotel with sauna’s, steam rooms and a magical outdoor hot pool. The hotel also had flowers in the room as they knew we were celebrating an anniversary. Definitely recommend.

Excellent from start to finish. The half-board menu was a highlight, with a lovely dinner each evening, and the breakfast was one of the most comprehensive we’ve had. The bar was another standout, offering amazing cocktails in a relaxed setting. The architecture and design of the hotel are stunning, both inside and out, blending modern style with alpine charm. Our room had a spectacular mountain view, making mornings unforgettable. We also appreciated the complimentary passes for the cable cars—such a thoughtful perk that added to the experience. The staff were friendly, professional, and attentive throughout. We have no complaints and would gladly return.

We stayed at Hotel Falkensteiner in Schladming to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and it exceeded every expectation. The highlight was a wonderful surprise during dinner: the hotel arranged a small private celebration just for us, complete with a beautifully decorated table, flowers, a birthday cake, and a bottle of wine in the very space where we dined each evening. This thoughtful gesture made the evening unforgettable and perfectly reflected the warm, attentive service we experienced throughout our stay. Everything – from the atmosphere to the hospitality – was flawless. We would gladly return whenever possible, next time with our whole family. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a place that combines comfort, elegance, and genuine care for its guests.

Disclosure: I'm a crowdfunding investor and loyalty member, which got me the upgrade and some nice touches. This turned out to be the best of the three Falkensteiner hotels I've experienced so far. Location & Arrival The hotel sits right at the edge of Schladming center, which I loved. Close enough to walk through town (especially nice coming from the railway station), but far enough out that we could actually sleep with the balcony doors open - something you can't do in most alpine town centers. Free parking in their structure was a relief after driving through Austria. The Spa - Absolute Highlight This spa genuinely impressed me. They have everything - steam room, bio sauna, Finnish sauna - but what made it special was the daily infusion programs and how clean they kept everything. The staff actually pays attention to the fitness area too, keeping it stocked with water, tea, and fresh fruit. Gets busy in the afternoons, but there's enough space that it never felt crowded. Food & Service The half-board here was exceptional. Breakfast had proper egg stations and everything looked fresh and well-presented - they clearly care about food quality. What I really appreciated was how they handled the dinner setup: buffet for starters and desserts, but proper à la carte mains served at your table. They assign you the same table for your whole stay, which I initially thought was rigid, but it's brilliant - the staff actually gets to know you. When we asked to move to a quieter spot after the first night (we'd been seated near a large family with kids), they sorted it immediately. My boyfriend is vegetarian and they had great options for him every night, not just afterthoughts. The Room & Technical Stuff The junior suite was spacious with a great valley view from the balcony. Bathroom had a proper soaking tub, which was perfect after spa days. WiFi worked flawlessly - I had several business calls during the stay with zero issues. Water pressure was excellent, everything just worked as it should. They left a personal welcome note and gift, which was a nice touch for investor status. What Really Impressed Me When we decided to extend our stay by two days (completely spontaneous), they not only found availability but gave us the same rate we'd booked months in advance. That's the kind of guest-focused approach that builds real loyalty. The housekeeping was consistently good throughout our stay - not always a given during longer stays. Bottom Line If you're looking for a proper alpine spa hotel where the wellness facilities are taken seriously and the food program is actually well thought out, this delivers. It's particularly good for longer stays where the service relationships can develop. Would I return? Definitely. It set a high bar that the other Falkensteiner properties I've tried haven't quite matched.
