Why a Running Retreat Is the Perfect Way to See Ireland

"A coastal hotel and spa serving as a convenient base for running stretches of the nearby Atlantic coastline, offering access to dramatic seaside paths and singular sights like the nearby famous cliffs while providing indoor comforts between wet, windswept outings." - Alexandra Kleeman

This is a great old historic hotel. The rooms are very comfortable, but the furnishings do look a bit dated. Rooms have old fashioned keys, not the electronic cards that we're used to. These rooms are not air conditioned, so they could get warm in the summer months. We were there in October and although is was very cool outside, the room did get warm. I made sure the radiator was off and the window was open, day and night. One night we had to request a fan to cool it down. The service was great and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurants was great too! While we were there, there was 2 weddings taking place!

Just enjoyed a overnight dinner b&b at this lovely hotel. Spectacular views of the falls as well as being pampered by the staff at dinner and breakfast. Couldn't ask for better. Leisure center is lovely but the icing on the cake is the outdoor jacuzzi..at night while its raining so cool.

I’m trying to find something bad or wrong about this hotel, like.. really really trying.. and I simply can’t. I’m on a tour across the country to visit every single county atm so I spend every night in a different hotel. This is THE BEST hotel so far I came across (from maaany) So what would you want from a hotel? ✅ really comfy beds ✅ unusually good at hospitality staff ✅ swimming pool ✅ hot tube outside with an amazing view ✅ sauna AND a steaming room ✅ relaxing indoor jacuzzi ✅ breakfast that will make you rewatch all Gordon Ramsey clips to re-learn how to breakfast again ✅ gym - let’s face it you will need it after breakfast like this ✅ aqua aerobics ✅ swimming classes ✅ bridge tournaments….. Did I mention the view??? I mean… not. a. single. flaw! Well done to whoever is managing this place to keep it affordable with all these revenue streams and kudos to the hiring team for having an amazing eye for outstanding hospitality staff. Special mention to the lovely lady in the swimming pool reception who made me feel so welcomed in a setting I wasn’t really comfortable with. Photo of my dinner 😃

We stayed for three nights at this lovely hotel whilst on an 'Ireland's Coast to Coast' holiday. Great spacious bedroom, a little chilly at night as we could not work the heating! The beds were really comfortable and rooms were clean. The food at both breakfast and evening meal were plentiful and delicious. The corridors were a little higgaldy piggaldy but once you have mastered the layout it is a lovely hotel with wonderfully helpful staff. The view from the front doors over the falls is well worth a look and even the resident donkeys in the field on the driveway are friendly. If you visit Co Clare a stay at the falls hotel is recommended

We had to book a last minute stay over due to heavy fog preventing our visit to The Cliffs of Moher. We chose the Falls as they were the most cost effective in the area available. |This hotel turned out to be the highlight of of stay. The hotel is beautiful, the staff caring and efficient and the rooms fabulous. The majestic atmosphere is evident the moment you drive up to the entrance. We relaxed the moment we entered, and really began to enjoy our time there, even if it was unintended. the breakfast overlooking the falls was terrific, we did not have to eat again all day! I would highly recommend The Falls to anyone looking for accommodation in the area, you cannot be disappointed.

The Falls Hotel was a lovely host during my recent visit to Cliffs of Moher. The property is quite large. My room was spacious with a view of the falls. The bathroom was large with tub and separate rain shower. The breakfast is spectacular! There is a pool and gym for guests. The hotel is comfortable and full of history.

I attended a wedding at The Falls Hotel yesterday and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The venue was beautiful, the atmosphere was warm, and everything ran seamlessly. A special shout-out to Mark, the lovely bartender who was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout the evening. He really added to the enjoyment of the night. Highly recommend this hotel for events!

Our stay at The Falls Hotel in Ennistymon felt like something out of a postcard. Nestled beside the cascading river and surrounded by lush greenery, it’s easily the most picturesque spot in town. Every view—from the windows to the garden paths—looked like it belonged on a travel magazine cover. Our group enjoyed a relaxing visit to the spa before heading to our next destination, Galway, and it was the perfect way to recharge. The massages were phenomenal—professional, calming, and exactly what we needed before continuing our journey. Ennistymon itself is a dream—quiet, quaint, and completely walkable. We loved exploring the charming streets, local shops, and cozy cafes, all within steps of the hotel. The whole experience was peaceful and unforgettable. If you’re traveling through County Clare, The Falls Hotel is a must. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to slow down and just take in the beauty around you. 🌿✨

Yelp
I had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at The Falls Hotel and Spa in Ennistimon. The setting is absolutely lovely, with beautifully manicured grounds that are clearly well-maintained. I particularly appreciated the hotel's commitment to sustainability and eco-friendliness, which made me feel good about my choice to stay there. The water fill stations were a great touch, allowing me to avoid buying bottled water. One thing to note is that there are certain times when food service is unavailable, so if you miss breakfast, you might need to head into town before lunch service starts at the bar. I was pleasantly surprised to be able to check in a bit early, around 2:30 pm, and my room was perfect--clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. The on-site dining was solid, with the pavlova dessert being a standout favorite. My only suggestion would be to include a blow dryer and conditioner in the rooms for guests. Ample parking was available, which was a convenient plus. Overall, a wonderful stay that I'd highly recommend.

Yelp
We really liked the lobby design of this hotel, and it was in a very convenient proximity to the Cliffs of Moher. We checked in late and didn't have issues upon arriving. They asked us if we wanted breakfast, but we declined. The hotel is older and remodeled. The rooms felt older but were comfortable enough, tho it was difficult to get to the room to a comfortable temperature with their older thermostat. Beds and linens were fine but not spectacular. We were woken up early the next morning by a staff member outside our window cleaning up glass bottles, which made a lot of noise. Check out should have been quick, but we had to argue about a charge with the front desk saying we'd requested breakfast upon check-in when we had actually declined it and never even saw the dining area. Otherwise, this is a solid place to stay for closer proximity to the Cliffs.

Yelp
Nice hotel and spa. Very friendly staff. But heat doesn't work. Spa was cold and so is the room. Update: you apparently have to ask hotel to turn on your heat. They've now done so adding another star. So believe that spa should not lack heat however.

Yelp
I loved this hotel, but the most memorable was the spa. I am not much of a spa girl, but this was so relaxing and tranquil, I want to come back over and over again. It's too bad I live half way around the world. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Really cosy hotel, beds were very comfortable and the food was excellent! The spa is lovely, big nice pool and outdoor jacuzzi is great with a lovely view. Roisin (blonde lady) was probably one of the most delightful members of staff!

Yelp
My husband, in-laws and I had lunch there today. Very disappointing. Nice hotel but poor quality food and mediocre service. They serve about a teaspoon full of mushy peas. We told the waitress and she didn't care. One of the plates served cold food. We questioned if a burger we ordered was really beef. The chips weren't cooked through. I had to get up a couple times for condiments and water. The TV's were so loud that we ate in the lounge. Anyway, it was totally underwhelming and we won't be back again for a meal. Not worth the 60 plus euro spent.

Yelp
Well what can I say about this hotel except, wow I love it here. Every part of this hotel makes me want to come back again and again. the food quality is great, really friendly staff, spacious rooms, a amazing leisure centre with an outdoor jacuzzi, which is to die for even in the rain and finally a spectacular waterfall just outside the main entrance. This hotel gets 10 out of 10 from me. I will be staying here again.

Yelp
Absolutely lovely. The grounds are amazing, the hotel is gorgeous. Make sure you book the spa early as they can't accommodate very many appts. Dinner was delicious and breakfast the next morning wasn't half bad.

Yelp
Stayed here for a second time four years later and it was just as good of a stay as the first time! The restaurant in the hotel as been updated since which is beautiful. Both the restaurant/Bar and breakfast area give wonderful views while enjoying your meal. The rooms were very spacious both times we stayed here - although on our second stay the room was a little dated compared to our first stay. This hotel has lovely grounds you can walk along outside and great facilities such as the Spa and pool which we used. There is a great outdoor jacuzzi which also has lovely views from. We had both dinner and breakfast the second time we stayed here. Dinner was great and very filling, and the breakfast was a buffet style with plenty of options! The staff were also very helpful and friendly - with a warm welcome upon arrival. Some areas of this hotel do need an upgrade, however. Even just a change in carpet in the lobby and hallways would make the world of a difference. I would highly recommend staying here for a weekend away to explore this part of Clare

Yelp
We loved our stay here. The rooms are nice and clean. Feels very welcoming and relaxing. Great views from the room. Restaurant by the reception desk had amazing food, zero complaints about dinner. About 15 minutes from the cliffs. Wish we could stay another night!

Yelp
BEAUTIFUL hotel in a beautiful part of Ireland. The prices are reasonable and the staff is extremely friendly. The only negative is that it's impossible to get late night food service- but I think as an American I might be in the minority in caring about that. The "apartment" suites are nicer than most regular apartments I've been in and include 2 floors, full kitchen, huge balcony, grill, multiple bathrooms and 2 beds in each room. I highly recommend staying here!

Yelp
This place was amazing. The rooms were so clean and so quiet. I stayed here as part of a tour group that went around Ireland and Northern Ireland. I would stay here if I ever get to this part of Ireland again and will be sure to recommend this hotel to anyone I know that is traveling to this part of Ireland.
