It's nice, but not impressive. A quick stop and part of the sights on the trail.

It’s a beautiful hike but should be done in rainy season

Fascinating to see the change in forest and vegetation as you ascend to the falls. Visitor centre parking is Credit Card only, washrooms available too.

(Review as of: 12/14/2022) You can't reach the base of this fall unless you decided to jump over the railing (potentially to your death), else you will be viewing the fall from off the Pipiwai Trail. It is a nice relaxing view and a nice side stop to rest a bit. There isn't much in the area except this side stop before you continue towards the Waimoku Falls (at the end of the Trail). As you get to Makahiku, the trail starts to incline a bit, nothing to hard, just stay on the trail and watch for the roots and uneven base. Enjoy the shady areas and pace yourself on the way to Waimoku Falls. Very enjoyable and a nice short break for all visitors.

Worth to drive. Easy hike. Have right shoes to go through dirt and rocks.

The viewpoint area from the waterfall is far away but the waterfall is still beautiful.

The falls of Makahiku rest along the Pipiwai Trail and are worth the trek!. There are gorgeous scenic views and the hike is worth the uphill trek. A beautiful banyan tree is on the trail just a few steps before the Makahiku views.

It was definitely worth the 2 mile hike! The bamboo forest was so majestic to. Just to stand there and listen to the natural wind chimes
