Falun prison hostel provides the basics of accommodation for a very reasonable price (for Sweden).||The entire hostel used to be an actual prison and not that much has been done to change the living space. One can also say the prison feeling has purposely been kept to a small extent to keep inline with the hostels theme.||Every room used to be a cell and so they are quite small and cramped. Currently there are two beds per room, two lockers, a bedside table and a small extra table. That's about it. There are two power plugs in each room with the Swedish format so be sure to bring your adapters if you need to charge your appliances. The rooms are reasonably clean but the hostel does not provide linen. So a sleeping bag or linen needs to be brought with.||Showers and bathrooms are shared and there are two showers on each floor for each gender.||The location is just outside of the city center. It's about a 5 minute walk for the nightlife, shopping and what not the town has to offer.||The Breakfast buffet is simple and very affordable. One will get nourished but it's not a culinary experience. it's open from 7-9.||They advertised free wifi and I was able t connect but the connectivity was limited for the duration of my stay so no effective internet access was provided for my part.

Got the tip from a friend to stay overnight at the prison. So I'm reviewing the from a 10-year-old's perspective, very exciting, especially the basement ... However, he was missing the ghosts for it would have been super cool. From my perspective, really nice staff. Very good attitude, the facilities are in a very good condition. And the silence is palpable in the room, so you sleep very well. The breakfast is a bit high in terms of price, bring your own. Self-service kitchen is very well equipped. There are good restaurants in Falun city located 500 m from the hostel so no need to eat at the hostel. Excellent choise if you're planning a trip to the mine.

Stayed there in 2! weeks spring time while fixing my driving license. That was awesome for the guy used to much better standard. Loved that room with almost nothing besides the real metal door. The hostel is placed in former prison. With all this brings. Located close to city center. Perfect choice for the one with minimalistic expectation. Strange, but this place was quite popular among middle aged men.

So when I found out that there was a "prison hostel" in Falun that certainly became my hostel of choice when travveling up north in Sweden. And if it wasn't for the fact that this is a converted prison it would have come across as maybe a little to pricey and a little above average worn and torn. But as it is an old prison all that doesn't matter because that is why you are here. The rooms are swedish standard hostel rooms, although they were former cells. The common areas are on average compared to others but the atmosphere is a little abbove standards I would say as it has its own character in so many ways. The city centre is close by.

The hostel is conveniently located close to the city centre, but in a very quite area. The catholic church is located just behind the corner, the university is in walking distance and the same for most amenities. The staff are extremely friendly and they helped me a great deal. The place is proper, the kitchen and showers are great. If you don't expect anything presumptuous like having a bathroom for yourself, it works fine for families and students.

Cosy and nice accomidation in the central of Falun. Good security for bikers since the lock the gates up (prison gates) during the night.

Interesting place to stay until it hits you that you are paying to go to prison.
