My partner thoughtfully booked a table here for Valentine’s Day, and I was excited to support a women-owned business. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing.
Due to my sensory processing issues, being seated extremely close to a man who was repeatedly licking his hands and wiping them on his shirt after eating became very distressing for me. My partner politely asked if we could move to one of the clearly available tables. We waited around ten minutes while I became increasingly overstimulated, only to be told by the same waitress there were no other spots and to get on with ordering.
As my partner had already provided card details for the reservation, we felt pressured to quickly order a drink and leave. By that point, I was on the verge of a panic attack. When we paid the same waitress at the counter, there was no acknowledgment or check-in from her or other staff and I left in tears.
It was deeply upsetting, as it felt as though there was no consideration for customers with sensory disabilities. A small amount of empathy or flexibility would have made a significant difference. really disappointing.
