While visiting Sancerre, my wife and I randomly popped into the tasting room one afternoon where we were warmly greeted.
The person (I feel terrible for not remembering his name) who lead us through our tasting took special care to explain the characteristics of each hectre where the vintage was produced. They patiently answered our questions and made us feel quite welcome.
After an incredible 15 tastings we inquired about shipping to the to US (we would have purchased a case on the spot) but were informed that we could buy through VinConnect. Understandably the cost will be higher due to tariffs, shipping, etc.. Still, we were pleased there is a way to buy for those who are interested.
Overall, our two day visit to Sancerre was complete and our visit to Famille Bourgeois was certainly the highlight of our visit.
As a note… If you plan to visit any winemakers in the region, go the the House of Sancerre first and watch the excellent film they offer that explains how the region was formed, and what makes Sancerre so exceptional.
