A whole lot of food, large servings. Definitely get your money's worth. They are busy so you may have to wait a bit.

This place is cute! Enjoyed the family atmosphere and genuine hospitality. The food is fabulous, portions are larger. The staff are very friendly and attentive. This restaurant is very busy there will be a wait to be seated and to get your order but WELL WORTH THE WAITING! Many options to choose from on the menu! The coffee was very good and hot! The price is under what we expected for the meal size!!! Super clean as is their restrooms, stalls are on the smaller side. Love the farm style deco!

Wonderful hometown diner…breakfast was yummy! One of those spots the locals know about and the highway travelers too often miss.

Google
We stopped in here after staying at the casino for a home cooked family restaurant breakfast. They were quite busy, but you never would have known by the service we had received! Everyone was so friendly, and efficient! We even received our own carafe of coffee! Our breakfast was delicious and big portions, and fairly priced! Tammy G was our server and she was fantastic! If when we are in the area again, this will definitely be our go to!!

Google
Loved this place. Stayed in Osceola Iowa for a few days, and ate here both mornings for breakfast. Food was delicious. Staff was friendly and courteous. Had the same waitress both days, she was great! Portions are generous, was not able to finish mine either day. They have the biggest cinnamon rolls I have ever seen. Highly recommend. Can't wait to eat there again if I get back that way. Artwork on the walls is awesome, their moto is "Home cooking so good you'll think that we stole your mother" 🤣 I absolutely loved that. They didn't steal my mother personally but possibly my grandmother.

Simple side of the road dinner, serving tasty large portion plates. Stopped by here on the way back home and was very delighted with everything. Service was very good and the ambiance was very chill.

Google
The service was wonderful, plenty of food, good coffee, and patience with our sticking around talking a while.

Google
Family table is a very nondescript looking restaurant from the outside, but what you get inside is friendly service an excellent home cooking. Don’t let the outside for you. Definitely check this place out. I have the Italian grinder which is basically ground sausage with marinara sauce, mixed in with it and mozzarella cheese, due to a previous poster mentioned it didn’t come with any onions or peppers. I asked for caramelized peppers and onions and they did it and then I got extra marinara sauce to add and it was fantastic , the onion rings that I asked for on the side I told him I didn’t want that many there was a big pile on that plate and they didn’t charge any extra for that over french fries. They were hand breaded thin and fantastic. I highly recommend giving family table to try. It was busy. That should tell you something.

Yelp
We came to this area for a birthday and grandpa suggested this place. They were able to accommodate 7 of us with room to spare. We were placed in what looked like a separate party room with a few other smaller tables. Service was prompt and polite. Since it was just before noon I chose a lunch option and the rest of the party selected breakfast. I ordered the Italian Grinder and seasoned curly fries. The grinder was a little like spaghetti sauce but had a good flavor. I was given a large portion of fries I was able to share with others. The rest of the party said the breakfast was delicious with no complaints and a few people were not able to eat all the food. This is a nice mom and pop restaurant worth the visit. If we are in the area again for grandpa's birthday we would come back.

Yelp
The pancakes are big They serve you really quite fast Super good French toast (Hope you enjoyed our haiku review)

Yelp
Stopped there on a Sunday morning driving down I35. Got there around 11.15, so before the church crowd and we didn't have to wait for a table. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Food came out pretty quickly and was delicious. The French toast was light and satisfying. The omelette was just the right consistency, and the cheese was ooey and gooey on the inside. I had asked for extra crispy hashbrowns, and they got it just right. Overall a great experience! We also took a cinnamon roll to go; our total was around $34 for our food, two coffees, and a juice. Only "downside" is they don't serve alcohol, so no mimosas. It's on our list for future visits!

Yelp
Stopped for breakfast and was not disappointed. Server was efficient in taking our order. Food arrived promptly and it was as described. It is an old time diner with locals and travelers since right off I35. Nothing fancy just good food.

Yelp
They service we had was fantastic. Very friendly., very competent. We had a Ruben sandwich, curly fries and slaw. All of them were excellent. Procing is great.

Yelp
Service was great we had a knowledgeable waitress who answered all our questions even though they got very busy. The food was delicious.

Yelp
Been here twice, on the weekend expect a wait that is well worth it! The food here is amazing, as is the staff! They serve a nice selection with larger portions. Decorated cute! The restrooms are clean but not handicap accessible, and stalls are smaller.

Yelp
The Buffet was defiantly worth it. Finally someone knows how to cook breakfast. I like all of it and I am a fussy breakfast eater. Just so you know the cinnamon roll is the largest I've ever seen.

Yelp
Nana Greer's is right off of I-35 and we like to patronize locally-owned restaurants rather than chain fast food, so it seemed like a good choice for lunch. The place was busy (seemed to be mostly locals) but there were a few empty tables and we were seated promptly. No frills atmosphere, it's a plain small town diner that probably hasn't seen any decor updates this century but our server was friendly and the food was good with more-than-adequate portions. I had a bacon cheeseburger and my wife had a BLT, both served with fries, just water to drink and the check came to 22 bucks plus tip, a little on the spendy side. NG's is probably a solid 4 stars but I hate it when I have to wait for our server to collect my credit card and finally have to chase her down to pay my bill.

Yelp
We just stopped in at 8:15 Tuesday evening for dinner and the restaurant was closed and looks like it has been closed for a while now. ****. Update. We drove by the restaurant the next morning and it was open so they must have either changed their hours or closed early the night before.

Yelp
We stopped in on our road trip for the holidays. My son and hubby ordered breakfast items. We always appreciate having breakfast available for lunch/dinner! The waitress was delightful and welcoming. I had chicken fried steak. The steak itself was hot and delicious but my mashed potatoes were not hot. I'm sure they would have corrected it but I just ate my steak and enjoyed it. This was a nice alternative to fast food. My son REALLY enjoyed his cherry crisp pie a la mode! I would stop here again.

Yelp
We've had breakfast here a couple times and its been great. In our last visit, I had French toast. You can get two or three pieces but two are more than enough as they use thick French bread. Lots of butter and warmed-up syrup are key toppers. I also ordered a side of crispy bacon and it came out perfectly. In this seat-yourself restaurant, it feels like home. Many locals gather in groups, toting in their own coffee mugs, ready for building community and enjoying each other's company and conversation. All orders are taken on iPads which always throws me off in this small town restaurant. Service is efficient and friendly. "Home cookin' so good you'll think we stole your mother."

Yelp
We can't get enough of the great food and service. Always a must stop when we are in town for the races. Our server today was probably the best yet. Jocelyn was so friendly and suggested the French toast. OMG. So delicious. If you love hash browns you will need to try the deluxe or supreme.

Arianna V.

Yelp
The best meals in town. That best comfort food you can find in town. The servings are adequate and the prices don't break the bank. Great option for breakfast or lunch! Wish they were open 24/7.

Yelp
We love this restaurant for breakfast. We stop every opportunity we get when coming back from southern Iowa. Their giant cinnamon rolls are over the top delicious!

Layne J.

Yelp
Attention truckers, park across the street at Casey's or your truck will get swallowed by the HUGE potholes at this lot! Someone needs to educate the cook. I ordered the breakfast skillet. It was 90% potatoes and very little of the other stuff supposed to be on it. At least it tasted halfway decent. And the service was halfway decent. Oh. And to the driver of the big old crap Peterbilt, learn how to park your truck. When you see 2 other trucks parked correctly perpendicular to each other don't be lazy F--- and go in at an angle taking up 4 or 5 spots s o other trucks can't park there if they wanted.
google avatar

Dave K.

Yelp
The food was good and I'd probably rate it a 4. Had hamburger and chicken tenders. Nice size serving and food was hot. Prices were ok which made the meal a good value. However the outside of the restaurant is dirty and a 3. The bathrooms are bad and are a 1. The service was just ok. Took our order quickly but we had to ask 3 times to get our water refilled once. Our server disappeared.

Yelp
This place absolutely amazing great prices and huge portions! Ten out of ten eat here.

Yelp
Friendly staff, actual homemade food even the buffet was homemade. Very clean, great hometown cafe with menu options for everyone.

Yelp
Good, solid breakfast and seems popular with the locals. That tells me it is consistently as good as I found it. Good service. It is my daughter's new standard by which she compares others.

Yelp
Prices are fair food is good service is great it's nice to see restaurants opening very clean restaurant

Yelp
Great place! We found that it was 1 out of only 2 sit down restaurants in this small town! We were traveling through back to Omaha and we are happy we stopped! Great little place for an easy bite to eat! Would recommend! Delux BLT was absolutely delicious!
google avatar

Yelp
Very much a local diner with a huge wall mural, various tables, booths and a permanent buffet. The only thing that seemed out of place was wait staff using a tablet to take our order instead of pen and paper....not a bad thing just noticeable in the environment. I had the jalapeño burger with sweet potato fries and hubby had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes. Both of our lunches were very good and very fresh tasting. I appreciated that the portion sizes were manageable and their pricing was good. They lived up to their promise of a home cooked meal!

Yelp
Stopped here while headed back to Texas after going to a family reunion in Ankeny. Food & service were great, I think this is the best French toast I've ever had. I asked the waitress what kind of bread they used & she said that they make the bread there, I believe it because it was so good.
google avatar

Eric L.

Yelp
Stopped here for breakfast just passing through town with my brother and sister and we really enjoyed our experience. Food was good. Waitress was friendly. It's the kind of diner like food that reminds me of going out to breakfast with my grandpa and makes me feel right at home. He's a retired farmer and by the looks of the crowd he would of fit right in.

Michael B.

Yelp
I got 2 Turkey sandwiches and a slice of sausage pizza, the clerk said 13.88 but charged me 33.88 and didn't give me receipt so I'm out 20$

Lisa B.

Yelp
Stopped for breakfast on way back to KC. everyone was so nice. Quick efficient service. Delicious food. Good prices. We split the loaded hash browns and a cinnamon roll. Needless to say we had to get a to go box for the remainder of the roll!

Stephanie B.

Yelp
Let's start with the cinnamon roll - it's more like a loaf! Soft and tasty and certainly could be shared with many. Nice lunch buffet with quite a bit of variety and reasonably priced. Breakfast was very good, just right hash browns and perfectly cooked eggs. Will stop in again when traveling I-35.
google avatar

Stephen F.

Yelp
We had breakfast here twice while in town for a family reunion. Great hash browns, pancakes, eggs - all the basics done well. Great friendly staff and reasonable prices. We will be back when we're in town again.
google avatar

Debbie F.

Yelp
If you love a hearty breakfast, this is the place to stop and it is right off I-35. Breakfast is the only meal I have eaten here but every time we stop here the service is great, the food is satisfying, and the prices are fair. I love the fun and feisty wait staff. They treat you like family. Don't go expecting elegant dining. The feel is reminiscent of an old fashioned Mom and Pop truck stop that fed you well. It will continue to be a stop for us as we travel through! It

Yelp
The atmosphere was what you would expect from a country town. The one waitress was swamped but she still gave me good service and the food was excellent. I would definitely eat here again. I had the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and fresh mixed vegetables

Barb T.

Yelp
If you are a regular you get the royal treatment, but if you are from out of town, they are very rude and very slow service. Food is ok, but place is filthy. Believe me, we waited FOREVER to get our food so we got a good look. buffet in very dirty to the point of disgusting, bathrooms, horrible. My recommendation KEEP DRIVING!
google avatar

Debbie H.

Yelp
We were divided on stars for this one, Dan gave it a 1 and I gave it a two. Service was prompt but not friendly. They did have a buffet but we didn't look at it. Dan ordered a catfish po'boy, and o ordered a chicken. Fajita roll up. Server cams back out and said they were out of catfish, so Dan ordered a pork tenderloin. Both are meals were average on taste. Mine had no fajita taste at all. Dans came without mayo and when he asked for it, the server also took out ticket and added 25 cents for it. Bathrooms need some serious attention in both cleanliness and maintenance attention. Not bad, but nothing to write home about. Mama Greer is definitely not a chef. Nice place father of are a local. They are right off interstate so friendliness to travelers would be nice. .

Jill D.

Yelp
We found a quiet corner booth--always a bonus for us. The food was good. Nothing stellar, but everyone ate well. We had a club sandwich, roast beef w/mashed potatoes, grilled chicken salad, and chicken strips + fried shrimp w/fries. The waitress was pleasant and patient and accommodating with the special chicken strips+fried shrimp order. The roast beef was just a pile of beef next to a pile of mashed potatoes, which was surprising and unattractive, but the delicious gravy on the mashed potatoes helped make up for it. The French fries were light and crispy. The salad was fresh with little chopped tomatoes that were a bit difficult to get on a fork, but I managed. The club sandwich was very tall, but tasty. The salad bar had a raspberry dressing that was very good. Overall a good stop on our journey.

Yelp
A good meal, good service... not sure what all the complaints are? OK, so I went in on a Thursday evening, probably not their busiest night of the year. I was the youngest person there by like, 80 years, I think... but the food was really good (they serve breakfast all day, hard to go wrong there). Service was decent, didn't have to wait more than a few minutes forr a menu, then she was back promptly to take order, etc.). Food came within probably 10 minutes and was hot and tasty. No complaints there either. The place is a bit on the "old" side, both in the building itself and the clientele, but overall a decent experience.

Yelp
Driving up to Nana Greer's I could smell bacon before even getting out of the car (windows up and everything)! I am not even a bacon lover. But by the time we were seated, my decision was made, it smelled that good. My breakfast here was one of the best I have had. Really perfect simple fare, hash browns crispy on the edges, perfect toast and eggs, and the best bacon. Seriously. My husband had stopped in once before during a bicycling trip and brought me here as we were passing through the area. I am definitely a fan! Service was good and prices average. The only negative for me was oddly dilapidated, less than clean restrooms, which did not fit this place at all.

Brian A.

Yelp
A quick hop off of i-35 at Osceola Ia, will put you in view of Nana Greer's Family Table. Anything that looks like it is run by an old lady, to me , means good cooking....so of course, I had to stop. The parking lot was packed..that is also a good sign.No truckers, but plenty of Buicks.....If the old people eat here I am still in the right place. Menu consisted of a large array of breakfast items, sandwiches, and the usual diner dinner entrees, (open faced roast beef, chicken fried steaks, chicken) Being on the road with at least another hour of driving to go, Breakfast was not an option, it puts me to sleep) Menu said the burgers were charbroiled, not fried....and yes they were had a good flavor. The most memorable thing here was the cinnamon roll. It says on the list they are a meal in themselves. I asked the waitress how big they really were, and she held out her hands with a measurement. Not so big, I thought, ordering one. When it came out 12 inches square and 4 inches high.. It wouldn't even fit in the "to go box" that she brought with us. we only ate about a fourth of it. Generous in the cinnamon and icing departments...Now the best thing $4.99! It ended up feeding four people in the next 24 hrs and ended up being breakfast treats for three dogs. they loved it too.

Yelp
I love to stop here every time I come to town. I am a over the road truck driver and stop at restaurants all over. I have to say I come here just to get a pancake. They have real thick cut bacon to go with it . If you leave hungry at this place then it's time to go on a diet. The pancakes take up the whole plate and are light and fluffy just like they should be. The Service is great just like the food go here you won't be disappointed
google avatar

Lisa M.

Yelp
If you're on a long road trip and lookin' to fill up your tank with some coffee and a burger, this is the place to go. Good service. Good food. Hometown atmosphere.

mike b.

Yelp
I can't believe the overall rating is only 3.5. The food and service are awesome!!! Not a bit dissapointed!!! Give it a try!!!
google avatar

Michael O.

Yelp
Don't be fooled by granny in the kitchen and the number of Buicks or pickup trucks in the parking lot. This place wreaks, was dirty and featured extremely poor service. Keep driving up or down I-35, but don't bother stopping here. The only thing granny didn't screw up was the toast. Consider a vending machine before eating here.
google avatar

Lesleigh B.

Yelp
This is our 3rd time driving thru Osceola and we have eaten at this restaurant every time. Guess what, we ate there again this morning and it did not disappoint. Simple fare prepared just right. We both had breakfast and one thing is for sure, unless you're a bear getting ready for hibernation, opt for the half orders! Thanks again for hot food and comfy atmosphere.
google avatar

Yelp
Great service. Friendly and warm atmosphere. The downside was the omelet. I couldn't taste any part of it. The eggs, cheese, even the sausage didn't produce a tingle on my tongue.

Laurie B.

Yelp
First, you need to know this is the only place to get breakfast in Osceola other than a fast food drive through. So if you must start the day here and you want food, you have no choice. Friendly staff. Easy access for my trailer. That's a plus. And that's why the two stars: good parking and it's open with a friendly foodserver. I ordered the hash brown scramble with ham (instead of sausage). Got a plate full of half cooked shredded potatoes with a hint of ham if you really dig for it. Asked to have it taken back and cooked all the way through. Nice waitress, happy to do it. Came back warmer but still limp, wet, and no brown on it despite my asking for some crispy potatoes. Nice waitress noticed I wasn't eating (I tried!) and offered to take it back again. No way I'm sending it back to a cook who doesn't know how to crisp the hash BROWNS. I suggest driving to the next town or doing the big M's drive through.

Nina O.

Yelp
My husband and I came here at 8:15 pm for dinner while in Osceola. Service was great, super fast, our waitress was a sweetheart. My husband order a bowl of soup of the day with potato and ham and I order a blueberry pancake which was delicious. Portions are pretty big so given the time we decided to order entrees. They keep the place super cold with the AC in the middle of the summer but overall very good food and experience.

Shari T.

Yelp
We have stopped here twice. First time for breakfast. It was very good. Hash brown were perfect. Took cinnamon roll to go. It fed 4 the next morning and was wonderful warmed a little Next time stopped for homemade pie. Crust was great as was the pie I recommend to all who are traveling north and south on I-35 Salad bar looks great Good home cooking
google avatar

Holly R.

Yelp
Ok let's start with this: the cinnamon roll was HUGE!!!! Kim, our server said you know it's big right? Nope it is Huge, size of a dinner plate, tons of icing, served warm!!!! Knowing I would not finish it I went straight for the middle (i consider that the best part)! I also ordered a side of bacon and coffee. Forgot to ask for the bacon crisp but there was no need to worry it came out just right. Hubby had egg, over medium, hashbrowns, sausage and rye toast. Egg was cooked perfectly. And that almost never happens. Kim was a great server and very patient with us. Would definitely stop by again if I travel that way.

Yelp
Food was good chicken fried steak and eggs how can you go wrong ??? Good for a break from the road ! Clean too

Yelp
Drove to Iowa from Dallas Texas for a summer camp and this was the only restaurant we could find. Let me tell you, I would drive back up for that French toast. So good.
