The 32 Best Family-Friendly Hotels in Europe | Condé Nast Traveler

"Sonnwies presented a uniquely family-only wellness, ski and farm hotel vibe in the Dolomites where parents can enjoy organic fine dining and upscale eco-friendly design while kids explore the farm, take pony or alpaca rides, and join productions at the hotel’s large theater. The hotel’s five pools (including a shallow cinema-pool with slides and an indoor–outdoor heated pool) plus private-slope access and inclusive children’s clubs make it a standout for parents seeking both luxury and genuine family-focused activities in a mountain setting. Our stay at Sonnwies Familien Hotel was truly one of the most amazing travel experiences we've ever had. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this place was designed with families in mind — not just to accommodate children, but to genuinely make life easier and more enjoyable for parents too. Everything was so incredibly well thought out. From the baby gear available in the rooms, to the kid-friendly (but still delicious) dining options, to the endless activities for every age — there wasn't a single moment where I felt like I had to worry about the usual logistics that come with traveling with kids. It was such a rare and welcome feeling to just relax. The staff were warm, attentive, and truly seemed to enjoy interacting with the little ones, which made all the difference. The outdoor and indoor play areas were beautifully maintained, and the nature around the hotel is simply breathtaking — we loved taking in the views while the kids played safely nearby. Sonnwies isn’t just a hotel — it’s an experience. It’s where luxury meets ease for families, and where both kids and parents can truly unwind. We can’t wait to return some time!

We spent the last week of August at Sonnwies with our 4-year-old son and had a wonderful experience. The location is stunning, surrounded by nature and the Dolomites, and the service was excellent with genuinely kind people. We also really appreciated the thoughtful vegan menu option - it’s not something you find everywhere, and for us it was absolutely perfect. The hotel itself is a dream for families. It is without a doubt one of the most child-friendly places we’ve ever stayed at. There is a huge kids’ club with daycare options, which gave us peace of mind and also a bit of time to relax as parents. Our son loved the variety of activities. The pools were another highlight - several of them heated and designed for both kids and adults, plus a fun mini aqua park that quickly became our son’s favorite place to spend the afternoons. It was a unique experience for the whole family and we can’t wait to come back!

We had a wonderful stay at Sonnwies! Everything was perfect in every way – from the spotless rooms to the delicious food. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and a special mention goes to Marco at the bar, who always goes the extra mile to make you feel at home. The hotel is extremely child-friendly. The kids club is simply AMAZING – our children loved it and were entertained from start to finish, giving us time to relax and enjoy ourselves. A true home-away-from-home experience. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful stay at the Sonnwies Dolomites Hotel with our two little boys. From the very beginning, we felt truly welcome as a family. The whole team was warm and attentive, which made it easy for us to relax right away.||The food was absolutely excellent – fresh, varied, and of the highest quality. There were always delicious and well-thought-out options for the children as well.||What really stood out was the amazing family and kids’ program. Our boys had so much fun, and at the same time, we as parents were able to enjoy some well-deserved relaxation. The combination of relaxation, nature, and carefully planned activities was just perfect.||A fantastic family hotel that we can highly recommend – we will definitely be back!

Our stay at Sonnwies was absolutely unforgettable! The setting in the Dolomites is breathtaking, and everything about the hotel is designed for families. The kids loved the animals, pools, and play areas, while we enjoyed relaxing in the spa and dining on incredible food. The highlight for us was the pizzas made in the outdoor wood-fired oven between the mountains — such a magical experience. Truly one of the best family holidays we’ve ever had!

This luxury family hotel truly considers every detail to keep us parents at ease & pampered and children happy & entertained. They have perfectly-designed and beautiful family rooms. The kid-friendly dining allows kids to serve themselves which made my 5 year old feel so independent and they always keep families at the same table throughout the stay so you just walk up to your table and the table setting such as bibs, booster seats, crayons, etc is already waiting for you. On top of that the food was spectacular! What stood out most to me was the flexibility: children can enjoy the kids’ club and activities with their peers, but parents also have the option to join in, turning it into a shared family experience, which I personally loved.

From the minute we stepped foot into the hotel, our holiday was incredible! The staff couldn’t do enough for us. My boys loved the kids’ club; everyone that worked there was so welcoming and friendly. We couldn’t believe how big the kids’ club was and the amount of toys and play space there was, including the huge climbing wall. We even left our 5-month-old baby in the baby room for a couple of hours for the first time, as we felt so comfortable. They had loads of activities for the kids, which changed daily, and even we, parents, joined in too. The food was 10/10; every dish was perfection, and they had the perfect mix of different options to try. We had treatments in their beautiful spa, and it was one of the best massages I’ve ever had! The pools were amazing too! And lastly, we were blown away with our room and the views. The hotel was better than we ever expected! We made so many amazing memories at Sonnwies, and we will definitely be back in the winter to experience the hotel at a different time of year.

Last week I visited Sonnwies Family Hotel with my family, overall it was a great stay and we had a tone of fun, and was a really great pace to stay for a week. Pros: -Water slide in the hotel was amazing and very fun for the kids -The food was absolutely delicious and a great variety, I especially loved the breakfast buffet - It was a great location with an amusing view of some distant mountains and only a 20 minute drive to attractions like the Plosbob - Great for young children with its own kids club although did no use much as we had older kids - Lots of activities to do that are put every day, although we loved the little stream that ran through the woods which we went to quite a lot - Loved our waiters, Giorgi was very nice and chatty as well as this lovely woman (Really sorry forgot her name) who was very sweet and helpful Cons: - Near a farm so a very unpleasant smell of farm outside which at sometimes could get quite unpleasant especially in the indoor pool area where it smelt very bad - Lots of young children and babies so was very loud and meal times and just quite loud in general - These spinning metal things in the indoor pool section where quite dangerous as one kid spun it quite fast and its amused into his faced and I really think they would be removed - I feel the service was not that of a 5 star hotel - Very overpriced for what the hotel is and I don’t think it should be a 5 star hotel
