A very interesting collection of paintings by female artists. Some I was familiar with, but many were new to me. An eclectic mix of modern and older paintings. Upon entering the museum the first paintings you see are by Monet’s step daughter Blanche Hoschedé Monet. They are stunning works of art and it was so interesting to learn more about her. Her painting of the waterlilies is sublime! Frida Kahlo’s painted cast was an absolute highlight and as a huge Kahlo fan I was delighted to see this piece. Elizabeth Colomba’s ‘Wheel of Fortune’ is breathtakingly gorgeous as is ‘Much Love, Many Loves’ by Kansas Smeaton that is also on display here. The museum itself is very aesthetic and the art is well presented. The surrounding area of Mougins old village is also very beautiful. Overall well worth a visit if you appreciate art!

FAMM – Mougins, France FAMM is the first private museum in Europe dedicated entirely to women artists — and stepping inside feels like stepping into a revolution in color and spirit. You’ll encounter icons like Frida Kahlo, the surreal and intimate self-portraits that have inspired generations; contemporary visionaries like Marina Abramović, whose daring works push boundaries of body, mind, and endurance; and emerging voices like Perina Soković, who weave strength and vulnerability into every brushstroke. To see all these women’s works gathered together in Mougins — a town already steeped in art history — was empowering and unforgettable. This is not just an exhibition, it’s a statement: women’s creativity deserves its own stage. ✨ If you love art, make the stop. You’ll leave with more than images — you’ll leave with perspective and power. - Michelle

An absolutely wonderful museum nestled in the picturesque village of Mougins, showcasing a wonderful collection of works by female artists only. The selection is extraordinary, ranging from the Impressionist period to contemporary art. I couldn’t recommend it enough. I found it incredibly inspirational.

So Google is trying not to publish my review. I guess saying 'toilet' is not allowed? And putting it on the exhibition and making me pay for it is totally fine?? Be careful, we came to the museum of classical art, and didn't realize it was closed until we were inside! So instead we found modern "art". The ground floor is tolerable with impressionists (you will find one or two nice paintings in a little room). But after that, it's two floors of bad abstraction, paintings of unpleasant looking bodies and... a toilet installation! That's what you call celebrating women?16 euros to spend 10 min inside because it's also small. I feel robbed and disgusted. You find much better free galleries in Mougins!

FAMM opened in 2024. It is a small museum dedicated to works by female artists. And it is brilliant. As I walked in, I heard someone who was just leaving say to his family “That’s the best museum I’ve seen in years!” – and I can see why. Small, it is. See the photos for how closely the paintings are hung to each other (there are some sculptures, but mainly paintings are featured). It consists of 4 floors, each with a different theme. And each floor is enjoyable in its own way. Being located in the ancient hilltop village of Mougins, it is located in very old buildings; I think a few have been knocked together and their spaces combined to create the four narrow open plan floors. The quality of the architecture, and of the building finishes, is excellent; notably, a cool staircase spirals around an even cooler glass-walled elevator at one end. There are paintings (yes, and a few sculptures) from the impressionist era to the present day. You’ll see paintings by famous and not-so-famous artists. So the collection includes works by (in no particular order) Berthe Morisot, Tracey Emin, Louise Bourgeois, Niki De Saint Phalle, Nan Golding, Barbara Hepworth and Dora Maar. But also artists I have never come across before, such as Joan Semmel, Delphine Diallo and many more. Apparently there are about 100 paintings, and the intention is to change them from time to time. It’s a great arty experience to see them hung in these beautiful small spaces. As a bonus the reception staff were friendly (entrance is not free, but is very good value); my only criticism is that the free information booklet majors on the artists rather than describing the paintings. Good for over an hour’s visit, at least once every year.

A unique experience! This feels like a special place as the art has been exclusively created by women and much of it depicts women themselves. It is a new experience to see women without the male gaze. The museum is well lit and the pieces well curated. A real hidden gem. Many thanks to the wonderful staff member who spoke to us and to the collection's owner who has made these pieces available for viewing.

Amazing hidden gem, definitely worth travelling to Mougins for. Offers an informative and interesting free online audio tour which helped me understand the deeper context behind many of the art works.

FAMM is a jewel in the glittering crown of the Côte d’Azur. Nestled within the picturesque town of Mougins, housed within a historic building, this unique museum celebrates women artists from the 19th Century to the present day. Greeted at the entrance with the mesmerising intensity of Tracey Emin, you walk into a world of female empowerment. This thoughtfully curated collection pays homage to artists and sculptors, some of whom, like François Gilot previously existed behind the legends of their more famous partners. Others are elevated beyond their traditionally male-dominated artistic movements, such as the surrealists, Leonor Fini and Leonora Carrington, whose alchemic paintings and sculpture radiate supernatural forces. Then you are absorbed into world of the Abstract Expressionists; Elaine De Kooning, Joan Mitchell, and Helen Frankenthaler's glorious visions of colour and life tell an alternative story to the well-known narrative of American masculinity. In the heart of the museum, amongst such luminaries as Frida Kahlo, Marina Abramović and Louise Bourgeois, Barbara Hepworth’s eternal Six Forms on a Circle, fires golden shards around the room and takes it rightful place as the spiritual core of this inspiring collection. Congratulations FAMM! *****
