So, I came in here with my mother. I don't usually shop here because it's usually a zoo, but my mother was in town and needed a pair of shoes for a special occasion, so we checked it out.
I found a few pairs I liked as I was browsing, but they had a very poor selection of sizes-- mostly tiny sizes. After much searching, we found a pair my mom liked that would work for her occasion, but were a half-size too small. In the meantime, I managed to find something cheap that was in my size. When we were checking out, we asked if they had any more sizes in the pair my mom liked. She said everything was out and left it at that. My mother asked if she could locate her size in a nearby store and she reluctantly looked them up and found out there were two pairs in Richland. She did not offer to call and have them held. Keep in mind that they were not busy at this time.
I paid for my shoes, but we had a coupon for $10 off and found out it was expired as of two days ago (my bad). The clerk asked her manager, Shelley, if she could override it (clearly she'd done that before). The manager came over and said she couldn't because of the "new system" and rambled about how they changed it and there was NO way a manager could override the coupon. I didn't believe it (since when can a manager not override anything they want? I was a retail manager in college and had that power), but oh well, the coupon WAS expired and my shoes were only $15, so whatever. She took my coupon and threw it away.
Here's the thing: when we arrived in the LOVELY store in West Richland and found my mother's shoes in her size, the very friendly clerks, one of which was the assistant manager, told me that the coupon COULD be overrided and that she had done it earlier that day for someone. They also couldn't believe that the Kennewick store didn't call (or offer to call) the Richland store to hold those shoes for my mother. When we got there, there was only one pair left in her size. We will never shop in Kennewick again.
