We used to like shopping here. Prices aren’t bad and the staff is normally friendly. However I will not be returning to this store. I went in yesterday with my one year old and 2 year old; we had just come from Target, 5 stores away, and my kiddos were still in the Target cart. After struggling for a good 45 seconds to open the door and get through (as there was no working button to help open the door) I finally got in only to be snapped at, right upon entry, by one of the employees who was at the desk with a customer. She told me the cart had to be left at the front (seeing my two very small toddlers in the cart). I told her I had no option because of my children. She said “I don’t know but the cart has to be left at the front, we don’t have carts here!” I said “ok I’ll leave then” and she knodded as I struggled to back out and leave the store. I found this to be incredibly unprofessional; she didn’t come up to me quietly - she basically humiliated me in front of the whole store after she saw me struggling to get into the store with the cart! As soon as I got into the store, she didn’t waste any time telling me. There was zero compassion for a struggling mom. If the no cart thing is a policy, there should be a clear sign. If not, there should be some proper training for that staff member. I felt embarrassed at the approach and angry because of the struggle I had to go through just to get into the store only to be told I, essentially, had to leave right away. I can’t imagine I’m the only person with kids who shops the Stafford marketplace stores with the same cart. I visited other stores yesterday and no one else said anything about carts. I was surprised and disappointed in how that situation was handled.
