Please note that the entrance for this location has moved. It’s no longer on Tryon st and it’s on the MLK street side. We spent a lot of time looking around for the entrance only to luckily find it on MLk. I’m glad we didn’t go somewhere else because the food was amazing. I really enjoyed the Toastery Bowl w sausage gravy.

Good place to start your morning. Reasonably healthy breakfast options. Try out their freshly squeezed orange juice. There are many options for wraps , sandwiches, and eggs. The food is not greasy and feels wholesome. The service is slow and the place is a little old.

Not such a long wait. Elevators were broken. Food was pretty good. Restaurant smelled like weed.

I hardly ever post reviews but I was so frustrated with my experience. I paid 4 dollars for a berries-only fruit bowl and it came with 12 strawberry quarters (so 3 strawberries) and 17 Blueberries. It’s so ridiculous that they charged 4 dollars for that. Not to mention the fact we ordered well-done breakfast potatoes that were undercooked and an English muffin, that wasn’t toasted and didn’t have butter. I know that seems nitpicky but why have the option to pick well-done, toasted, and buttered if you’re not going to do any of those? My partner’s fruit cup looked the same as mine which might have made sense since he asked for no melon in a standard fruit cup but overall it’s made me feel like I wasted money. Very disappointing because we love the famous toasteries in Mooresville and Huntersville.

I love this place. Our waitress was so sweet and nice. The prices- what a great deal! They have a French vanilla creamer- yum! It was quiet for a Friday morning but quick service and nice staff!

Google
The waiter was very nice and informative to us explained every question we had very thoroughly. The food exceeded my expectations and was very delicious. Definitely plan on coming back

Google
I really enjoyed the healthy food options on the menu. I ordered the Runner’s Omelette and was happy with the veggie selection and Brie cheese. Something different than the normal breakfast. The server was friendly and the coffee was refilled while we waited for our food.

Google
I saw this place had good ratings. Not sure why , we were seated and sat for almost 10 minutes before anyone came to get our drink order. The place advertises mimosas and such, but dosent have their liquor license ? The food was just mediocre. Overall I wouldn’t go back nor recommend it to anyone else.

Yelp
Great place up the street from convention center. Fast service, great coffee, we'll be back!

Yelp
Your typical diner experience--solid food, solid service, solid ambiance. I opted for an untraditional diner meal (IMO) of a quinoa bowl which was quite tasty. The pancakes looked fluffy and the coffee was quite yummy.

Landon P.

Yelp
Great service and fantastic food. Had the breakfast bowl and strawberry and cream cheese stuffed French toast. Absolutely delightful!
google avatar

Yelp
Definitely not as good as other locations around Charlotte. Service was solid, but food quality was lacking. Potatoes were horrible and had a weird taste.

Yelp
The food here at the Famous Toastery was perfectly crafted to my satisfaction. The staff was very attentive to our needs and truly kind and helpful in making recommendations. This restaurant is a perfect location for a family or a solo breakfast. Our family will definitely return to this location.

Yelp
Food 2/5 It was just OK. Ordered the French toast, biscuit, corned beef hash. The French toast was alright, the biscuit was too hard on the outside but the inside was flaky. The scrambled "eggs" were liquid eggs you'd find at a cafeteria so was very disappointed in that one. With the hash, we asked for eggs fried over well but they came out over easy. The hash itself was exceptional and had a nice crust to it along with good salty flavor. The smoked sausage was better than expected and had a nice pop to it. Service 5/5 This was amazing! The hostess to the waitresses were all extremely nice and brought us the many condiments we needed. Ambiance 4/5 A bit off putting as you walk in and see zero customers then they take your phone number and text you. After you're texted, you walk downstairs to where everyone is eating. Overall, there was some highs and a few lows. Would I go back? Maybe, if I wasn't paying. Or just for the smoked sausage and corned beef hash.

Yelp
Found this convenient location in the center of uptown Charlotte, where there seem to be few breakfast options. The upstairs is a cute little spot, but don't get too attached to it, as they seat most customers down in the basement where the main dining area and kitchen is located. Service is fast, polite and attentive, and the menu offered plenty of breakfast/brunch options. I opted for the huevos rancheros w/ chorizo. Overall, I enjoyed this dish, but $16 for primarily black beans and two eggs seemed a little pricey. Especially because it could have used some toast to dip in the sauce, and coffee is another $4. For $20, I felt like I could have had breakfast in a nice hotel atmosphere rather than the windowless basement of Famous Toastery. However, the service is prompt, location close to many offices, and the food was good, so I returned a few days later and got the Classic Benedict w/ grits ($13) This was less successful. The Benedict was pretty basic and the grits were watery...not creamy, not cheesy, not flavorful. Even w/ the added cheddar ($1), the grits were runny. At least they offered me a refill of my coffee in a to-go cup this time, which was much appreciated. If you're in the area and looking for a quick sit-down breakfast to fill you up, Famous Toastery is a decent option for basic breakfast fare priced for the convenience of the uptown location.

Yelp
I was very happy with their Cali Benedict, potatoes, and great coffee. Our servers were awesome too! They were friendly and attentive. I will definitely come back here the next time I'm in Charlotte.

Yelp
My friends and I came here on a Monday to get some breakfast before we headed on our road trip. This place had really quick seating and the service was good and fast. As far as the food goes, it's alright. I got the daybreak burrito with breakfast potatoes. The burrito didn't have a sauce and tasted regular. Nothing special about it. The potatoes were cooked well but didn't have much seasoning either.
google avatar

Nathan A.

Yelp
Food and service is ok but the online ordering system sucks and the take out order is wrong 50% of the time.
google avatar

Kristy M.

Yelp
Service was fantastic and the food was excellent. I will definitely come back when visiting the Charlotte area.
google avatar

Yelp
I had the avocado Benedict and it was sooooo good. The watermelon mimosa was yummy too. The business was not crowded and we got seated immediately. Staff was super friendly and quick. My granddaughter had a pancake and because she's 1 we didn't put syrup on it but it didn't need it at all. The plain pancake was really good plain.

Yelp
Amazing!!! Great service, great food!!! Flapjacks, eggs, bacon, oh my!!! Thoroughly enjoyed and recommend.
google avatar

Lourdes E.

Yelp
Good omelette with choices. Service was not so good though. Have gluten free available for my daughter so that's nice.
google avatar

Mel G.

Yelp
Excellent food, great gluten free options, and the service was great. Nutella stuffed French toast with banana was great, but the scrambled eggs with cheese were the best I've had in a long time. Very fluffy.
google avatar

Lesley W.

Yelp
Had a chance to eat "in-house". The pancake/flapjack was yummy. The eggs perfectly cooked! The server was really friendly. I LOVE that they serve warmed maple syrup to go with pancakes/French toast. I really wanted to have a mimosa, but since I'd just finished a 5K I decided do stick with water.
google avatar

Mitch B.

Yelp
Only good things to say here - I had the Tuna Melt with breakfast potatoes. Needless to say, the tuna tasted very good and the potatoes were not dry at all. Service was fast and we got seated relatively quickly. Only issue I really have is that it looks sort of bland. Could use more decor. Other than that, I like it. 4 out of 5 square knots. Would recommend.

Yelp
I'm visiting Charlotte for the weekend and wanted to explore the food scene! I love pancakes and decided to give Famous Toastery a try! I like the vibe of the place. It's very cozy, I like that! My waitress was attentive and friendly. Too bad my pancakes were horrible! They were thin and mushy and lacked flavor. My eggs and bacon were both cooked wonderfully. But, I was here for the pancakes!
google avatar

Jasmine M.

Yelp
I loved the downstairs area of the restaurant. This was by far one of the best mimosa flights I've had. As far as the food it was pretty good nothing too extravagant. The bacon was really good and the shrimp grits had so much potential but they were not hot. Our waiter was nice and attentive and the restaurant was clean. I might give this place another try.
google avatar

Carl H.

Yelp
We stopped here while visiting muse Mrs around uptown. There were 4 or 5 tables where you walk in, but several more downstairs. The food was pretty good. I think the best meal we had was a bowl with roasted potatoes topped with eggs and crumbled bacon. We would go back.
google avatar

Dave F.

Yelp
We ate here on a Sunday morning. We got seated right away in the downstairs area. It took about 5 minutes before anyone came over. I ordered a breakfast bowl with grits, ham and an egg. It was very good. My wife got eggs Benedict which seemed average and hard to cut up. Daughter got an omelet and French toast both of which were good, but nothing special. My wife and I had coffee which was really mediocre. Normally the wait staff is always coming around to top off your coffee, but we had to flag someone down when our cups were empty. My food was 5 star, the rest of the family 3-4 and the service 3
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
I ordered shrimp and grits from Famous Toastery. Will NEVER make that mistake again. Grits are not meant to be soupy, they had no flavor, the sauce was not Cajun like stated online. When my food was delivered the grits had spilled out of the container. It was just awful. Very disappointed

Alexa G.

Yelp
Food was decent. Potatoes were the best. The sandwich was plain in flavor but nothing a bit of hot sauce can't take care of. Service was missed, but I understand they were busy. I'd go back. Definitely nice staff.
google avatar

Denice L.

Yelp
This was a cute spot we stopped by for breakfast after checking out of a hotel. It was recommended on Yelp of course so we headed to it. A nice young man greeted us and took our order. We ordered biscuits and gravy, rancheros, and a Miami's a flight. Food and service was great, we would return if in the area again.
google avatar

Blessed L.

Yelp
Turkey sausage was very thin and hard ... there is no flavored creamer for the coffee and no bottled water ... French toast was not favorable ... should have been cooked with butter ... cinnamon and nutmeg ... I will not be coming back
google avatar

Gino W.

Yelp
Right off the plane and into downtown, this was my first stop when I came to Charlotte for a weekend visit. It was crowded and there was a wait. The wait was worth it. I ordered biscuits with gravy, eggs scrambled with cheddar, house potatoes, and candied bacon. All of this made me miss being down south. This was definitely a good choice before a day of touring the city. Service was very "down home" and I appreciated that. Food can be outstanding and bad service can ruin it. Even with the dining area being crowded, my server was the best. And the breakfast was absolutely the best. Adding this restaurant to my list of eateries on any return visit I make to Charlotte.

Kevin G.

Yelp
Worst service ever, was seated and had to wait 10 minutes for our menu. Food took forever

Yelp
We love the Famous Toastery everywhere we go. If we see one is in town we often go out of our way to get breakfast there. We've found they aren't all the same and the experience can vary but have never been really let down by any of them. This location was a little understaffed the day we went but it was also a very quiet day. Despite being outnumbered the staff did a great job and we had no extra wait for anything. Our food was exactly what we expected and we were more than happy with the experience. We'll be back for certain!
google avatar

Brad M.

Yelp
Reasonable 20 minute wait time for Saturday brunch. Very friendly staff and excellent food! You won't be disappointed
google avatar

Tatiana D.

Yelp
They don't make reservations so we had a bit of a wait so I do recommend having some patience. We got served by Jojo who was amazing!! We had mimosa flights were so fun and delicious. Food wise I had 2 eggs and it came with home fries, bacon, & side of toast (English muffin) Very good! Nice size portion and the home fries had a great taste! Bacon was apple smoke I think and isn't a favorite of mine so I wasn't a fan. Eggs Benedict was delicious and has not the standard Hollandaise sauce Left side BLT was very good & had a lot of fresh ingredients
google avatar

Danielle L.

Yelp
I have visited this restaurant two times. They do have good food. I got the breakfast platter with a waffle. However it is priced a little high for the taste of the food. It was extra money to sub a waffle on my platter. The grits, eggs and bacon were great. The fruit that came with the waffle was a little weird tasting and the toast tasted burnt. The service is always great and the atmosphere is really comfortable.

Nicholas A.

Yelp
IMO Famous Toastery is overrated and based on my experience would put on par with IHOP or Dennys. I think there are better breakfast options.
google avatar

Adria C.

Yelp
Arrived around 8:30 am on a Saturday. I was greeted and seated downstairs immediately. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Ordered the stuffed french toast (rasberry) combo. The french toast was a little bland. The syrup is brought to the table in a glass container which they keep in a food warmer - the warm syrup was a nice touch . Food arrived to the table super quick. Multiple servers checked on me which I appreciated. As a solo diner, I normally feel my table gets neglected. The restaurant started to fill up by 9:30 am. I would visit again, but definitely trying something new!

Yelp
I just happened to be in town for a convention and wanted to find some place to sit down for breakfast. This came up in Yelp, the pictures looked good, the reviews were good, so I decided to make my way over there and give it a try. Every table was full so I was politely asked to wait for a few minutes and then I was seated. A super friendly waiter took my order and shortly after that my huevos rancheros came out and they were fantastic.
google avatar

Colton F.

Yelp
Great food, French toast was amazing and staff (lynnell) were very friendly! Would recommend this place for breakfast/ brunch!

Toni M.

Yelp
Delicious food! Served quickly and kindly. Drinks were perfect! The bacon and potato's were best I've ever had and everything was great. Nothing bad in this place.
google avatar

Swaz F.

Yelp
A very decent place to eat lunch or breakfast Uptown. It's a little hidden at the corner of MLK and N Tryon. There are lots of seating upstairs and downstairs. Service staffs are always friendly and attentive.

Trina M.

Yelp
The first waiter's attitude was short and dismissive. The second waitress added on a coffee that we did not order. When we brought it to her attention, she did not respond. However, she proceeded to make the change on our receipt. I should have been skeptical of the added item to our bill because after we were given our receipt, the waitress kept glancing at our table as if she was aware of her action. Always check your receipt at this restaurant!

David A.

Yelp
Amazing great all around. The service was fast and everyone was attentive. The food was very warm and delightful. The ambiance was a bit crowded but tolerable
google avatar

Rod S.

Yelp
Wish we had known about it when we first came. Everything tasty and perfect. Avocado toast was perfect. Loved the homemade hash and wife enjoyed the biscuits and gravy benedict
google avatar

Kristy S.

Yelp
Oh my! What a great find! Awesome food, fun diner feel and great service. Definitely get the French toast!!
google avatar

Alana G.

Yelp
Dropped in on a Saturday morning around 8:30am and were sat downstairs for two immediately. The hostess was nice and the server was quick. We were in and out in about 40 minutes. I love that you can order breakfast and lunch all day because I was not in a breakfast mood. I ordered the blackened chicken caesar wrap with a fruit cup as the side and he ordered 3 eggs with toast and potatoes. The food came out quickly and we both enjoyed our meals. The wrap was light so I was satisfied without feeling super full or crappy afterwards which I was hoping for - the only thing I wish it had was more chicken. The flavors were on point but the second half of the wrap had much less chicken than the first half. I would return to try other items as the food they brought out for other tables also looked delicious.
google avatar

Aleya N.

Yelp
Couldn't find parking and ended up paying $20 for an hour in a lot nearby. The restaurant itself is very hot despite the ceiling fans. Like uncomfortably hot and sticky, couldn't even order coffee because I needed ice water to stay cool. I enjoyed my breakfast combo but it wasn't anything special. I think the food is overhyped in these reviews lol The service was great as they all seem to work together. We didn't have to wait for a table although it was a Saturday around noon. I've attached a photo of their menu.
google avatar

Amanda U.

Yelp
Cute spot for a quick sit down breakfast. The service was friendly and attentive. The restaurant is clean, and plenty of seating available. The food is cheaper than most places in the area. We were pleasantly surprised on how quick the food was made and how tasty it was! Everything we had was yummy. The orange juice is freshly squeezed within minutes of serving, loved that!
google avatar

Gerard M.

Yelp
Nice place downtown. Good service. Reasonable breakfast food. Kind of a weird floor plan: enter upstairs, leave downstairs through a random lobby... Odd
google avatar

Michelle J.

Yelp
Horrible coffee! Feed the plants it. The manger is so cranky and unfriendly. The ladies working there are so pleasant and nice.
google avatar

Annie C.

Yelp
Great breakfast! Classic spot with delicious, large options and also great drinks. Came here on a Sunday for brunch, waited about 45 minutes to get a table. Our server was good, they have a rotating operation where a lot of servers are helping you out but they were all great. The food also came out relatively fast! The food itself was delicious, I didn't realize the avocado Benedict didn't have an English muffin but simply just the avocados. Not my preference but it was still yummy. I also tried my friend's stuffed French toast and that was so delicious! Definitely recommend. Overall recommend this spot for a classic brunch but I would get here on the early side so the wait isn't too long!

Althea K.

Yelp
The Mac and cheese was amazing our server was nice and the decor was nice. If u see this

Netty R.

Yelp
Fresh, delicious and just overall great customer service If we ever return to Charlotte, we will return again!
