F&S Fabrics For The Home

F&S is a Los Angeles staple, and I'm consistently impressed by their inventory. They have all the basics plus so many gorgeous, unique textiles, and every time I go they have new things to choose from! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and can hook you up with some great upholsterers.

Imagine my surprise to walk into an actual fabric store with exceptional customer service. That is exactly what I was - surprised! After years of shopping at Hancock Fabrics and Joanne’s Fabrics - with deplorable customer service what a refreshing change this experience, at F&S Fabrics has been. Starting with the shock and awe of the assortment of fabrics available to being helped from start to finish by an extremely helpful gentleman. Not only helpful and knowledgeable but full of information on the fabrics available. He even went above and beyond to mention they had the material I needed for my project but they could recommend several experienced seamstress recommendations. I will definitely be using this company for most of my fabric needs.

The folks at the shop were so sweet and helpful and we found just what we needed - and if we hadn't they made sure to let us know they were happy to help us find it!!

I am writing this in my car as I am leaving this AMAZING fabric store. The fabrics are absolutely beautiful and endless in their display. The staff a 10 plus- I cannot compliment everyone who greeted me enough and I had the pleasure of the owner personally assist me in choosing a perfect and affordable fabric- what a kind gentleman. I recently recovered three chairs and a couch and F&S was recommended to me by the upholstery shop (Sugars Upholstery - also highly recommend). I was directed to Jamie, who really knows her stuff and found us exactly what we needed. I'm so happy with all my new furniture fabrics - I never need to go anywhere else. Thank you Jamie!

When I had my fashion design studio in LA, I shopped here alot. Now I design skirts in N.C., we have very limited fabric stores there :( so I visit LA for fabric. I was a bit bummed when I found out they have switched to mostly home fabrics. Although they do have some amazing fabrics and browsing thru them inspired me for some unique skirts. I will be back for those. In the end, all was not lost, Maria pointed me to some fun cotton prints they had held onto. Found a fun piano wave print, and a print with colorful tape measures. For now these will make for a fun skirt challenge.

F & S is a westside institution! A family owned business with a huge selection of really nice, high quality fabrics plus wonderful personal service. Jamie is always so sweet and helpful. Truly the only place I can think of going to for upholstery fabrics.

The selection is amazing! I drove from the desert just to be able to purchase good quality fabric! Staff was friendly! Restrooms are smelly, if you can wait I suggest you do. The staff cuts the fabric right away. Also, don't park directly across the street parking is $12! Go down a block and you can find places for $5.

The fabric selection at F&S is of the highest quality and variety. They have indoor, outdoor, upholstery, and anything else needed for custom decorating. The staff is very knowledgeable and helped me pick out the perfect option for drapes to match the color and theme of the room. This fabric is very well made, thick and detailed. I'll be back to find fabric for curtains for the next room!

F&S Fabrics For The Home is hands down the best fabric store in Los Angeles. They have such a huge selection of fabrics to choose from, and you will definitely find whatever you need for your project. They have everything from silks, wools, and linens to all sorts of other imaginable fabrics. They also carry the latest trends and unique designer fabrics. The staff is also amazing - especially Jamie. Every time I go in they are friendly and helpful, and they go out of their way to help me find what I need. They are very knowledgeable about interior design and can offer great advice on your project. I've been frequenting F&S for many years now. In the past they reupholstered my outdoor furniture. Most recently they brought to life my bar chairs. The service was very efficient. Jamie, the store manager helped me. She asked questions about the usage & if I had pets to find the best fabric needed. Things I didn't think to consider. The repair was very quick & I'm really happy with the results.

Bitchin fabrics! Had everything I needed for my project. High quality materials, this is a serious gem in the middle of the city. Owner and employees were super helpful finding the right materials I didn't even know I needed. Price was super affordable for the quality of what you get.

I love this place. So much cheaper to come here and get custom pillows or upholstery etc. than buying stuff pre-made online. The selection of fabrics is mind blowing... from $10 - $250 per yard. Everything color, pattern, material you can think of for indoor and outdoor. I worked with Enrique to make some pillows - he was great. Took about 2 weeks to make the pillow cases - $30 each and another ~$20 for down stuffing... So, fabric, manufacture and stuffing for about $80 bucks a pillow - you'd get charged $150 - $250 online for the same thing. The most common fabrics are on bolts mounted horizontally so you can roll them out to see large samples. This is much easier than say Mood where stuff is stacked to the ceiling and sometimes impossible to pull out. Also thousands of other samples are displayed on hangers that can be ordered (2 yard minimum for those).

F and S Fabrics has the most upscale selection the best prices in LA and professionalism. F and S Fabrics is a legendary store in Los Angeles that carry the top brands in fabric that you'll be sure to find them there. They carry the Largest selection of sunbrella which is perfect, and very practical & resilient for Summertime. I love working with Jamie shes very knowledgeable, loves what she does, and she is just the sweetest person. F&S is the best fabric store in L.A hands down.

I drove quite a long way as there are no fabric stores on the Westside anymore. I wanted blackout fabric and asked @ the desk and a nice guy said "Oh I can help you." I was walked over to an area and he asked me what I was looking for and then explained my options. Such a kind way to do business. He turned out to be Eric...also I was shown several options knowing I was only dealing with one window. I so appreciated the way I was treated by Eric! Thank you again For such priority treatment! F&S Fabrics are the absolute best! I don't know where to being - the selection of fabric is incredibly comprehensive - for every taste - from minimalist to high drama. They have a ton of fabric always in stock and even more samples that they can order in a short time frame. Their staff is exceptional - helpful, friendly, professional, caring and invested in your happiness. Every staff member is customer service oriented and so knowledgeable. Jamie, in particular, is a doll and sweetheart. She also has a keen eye for fabric and design. She helped me immensely offering up ideas and choices. She followed up and keep track and in touch during the ordering process too. She remembered my orders better than I do! Oscar is fabulous - he is a master seamster. He made me the most gorgeous pillows with the fabric I purchased. I cannot say enough good things about F&S. The selection of fabric, particularly of Sunbrella, is outstanding, and can be a lifesaver during this period when special ordering almost any materials means an extremely long lead time. Even better than the inventory are the kind and knowledgeable staff that go out of their way to help you get what you need, make suggestions, or leave you alone if you just want to take your time looking around. DON'T GO TO THIS STORE! You will NEVER want to leave. We drove past this store a million times and always said that one day we would pop in and check it out. We finally did and just drooled over many of their fabrics. We've picked up gorgeous cuts at terrific prices and between here and Michael Levine (downtown) we've scored some great buys. If you are a mixed-media artist or just a stash-fiend you'll love their bin of leftovers. Small-ish cuts of a wide variety of great textiles. Have fun but be sure to tell someone where you are so they can retrieve you when you fail to show up at home for three days.

I received three chairs from my grandma that she had for many years. Unfortunately due to renters they fell under disrepair and needed reupholstery. I found this awesome burnt orange outdoor fabric from F & S and they even recommended me to someone for the work so I didn't have to call all over town. I got the chairs back not too much later and they're much nicer than before: thicker cushioning and now can be used outdoors, unlike before. Thanks so much!

F&S has an amazing fabric selection and amazing employees who are so friendly & easy to work with. Personally I've worked with Jamie and she is an absolute pleasure. Wow! Great selection and soooooo much eye candy. Not a lot of fabric stores left in LA, so I was pumped I stumbled upon F & S. Excited to get going on all my home projects, I have lots of furniture that needs a makeover, Having a hard time choosing between all the awesome fabrics!

Had the opportunity to shop at F&S Fabrics a couple days ago. I was very pleased at the abundance of textiles they offered. I can see coming back for my future design projects for our home. Definitely worth the visit. The customer service was fabulous, everyone was very knowledgeable and attentive to my needs. Parking, no worries they offer plenty of it.

Great Fabric AND Upholstery Services by Alexx Not only did I find the fabric I was looking for, I found an Alexx Sanchez, employee of F&S, who upholstered my 8 dining room chairs. He did a great job -- and he lined the bottom of the chairs which weren't lined in the first place! He made them better looking on the top AND the bottom! I have included a photo of one of the chairs and the bottom of it to show the black lining.

I am somewhat of a fabric virgin. But luckily for me, my best friend is an expert and took me in and showed me the ropes. Picking out fabric can be so much fun! Ask for a pair of scissors and a sharpie and walk around a cut samples of anything that catches your eye. Be sure to check the price before you cut as some of their fabrics are as expensive as over $100 per yard. I was surprised to see that what I liked most in the store didn't really work in my home. At the same time, the ones that I wasn't excited about in the home worked quite well for the furniture I was looking to reupholster. They also gave me a few cards of upholsterers but I'll check Yelp for references before going forward with anyone!

Ah, I love F&S. Of course, it doesn't escape me that I have sentimental ties to this store. After all, my mom and I bought the fabric and notions for my wedding veil and dress at F&S. My mom was footing the bill and she encouraged me to get what I REALLY wanted. So, it was a dreamy, luxe double-sided silk crepe with silk facing. And, the trim I settled on had but one foot left on the bolt. So, I would have to resort to another... or would I? No, the nice F&S lady took my name and number and called me once she was able to track down more of the trim and order some for me. But really, it was all about the veil. To my mom's chagrin, I was insistent that I wanted silk tulle. Not chiffon. Not poly. Not anything other than silk tulle. But, ohhh... not one seemed to carry silk tulle. Until our nice sales lady asked the manager if they had it. Out from the back, he pulled a bolt of the most airy, fluttery and silky tulle. We bought three yards at $80, but my mom was so relieved that we actually found it, she didn't bat an eyelash. My mom knows the truth. While I'm eternally grateful that she made my wedding dress, it was all about the veil. We still go back to F&S when my mom wants to shop for fabric. The selection just can't be beat!

F & S seriously has the "Pico" area market under it's wings...there are like three stores within one city block of each other: home, regular fabrics, and another which I can't recall. The ONLY thing limiting this place to 4 stars is price...but...with that said...the fabric quality they have WARRANTS high prices. If you want to find similar quality but with a lower dollar sign, hit up the Garment District downtown. If time is of the essence...I LOVE this place. The home store caters to mostly upholstery and tassels for curtains and the like. If you want batting, buttons, zippers and threads, head across the street to the regular F & S where there are PLENTY of friendly people (also at this locale) to help you with your every need.

Rock star fabrics for the designer, crafter and all around sewer alike. I didn't realize just how spoiled I was living in the LaLaLand lifestyle just running over to F&S for some fabrics every so often in my UCLA days. GOD!!! I MISS THIS PLACE! Having to see it on Project Runway, missing it like a long-lost lover, I made a special trip recently just to get some of that good stuff back at my fingertips. OH YEAH BABY! I've never awarded anything 5 stars - but F&S and Raquel B. get my highest rating ever. After being abused by the Diamond Foam Fabrics staff I was ready for an unpleasant experience when I rushed into F&S on a lunch break today. Here is how they differed from Diamond Foam on LaBrea: At F&S for the Home I was greeted as I entered. I was offered assistance. I was pointed to fabric appropriate for my cushions. I was told salient points - "yes washable, durable, bleach resistant". I was left to shop. The prices were a wide range from 'budget' to 'high-end'. I was quickly and efficiently told how many yards I'd need for my cushions. I was out of the door after making my purchase and ordering my custom cushions in less than 20 minutes! Great selection! Knowledgeable staff! Customer Service! Oh! And beautiful fabrics that made me want to redecorate everything in my home and patio. Go F&S! -Ivy

So. I went into the store and had a hard time getting assistance. The gentleman that helped me seemed knowledgeable and was helpful. I left with several cuttings. Went back two days later to order fabric and have chairs reupholstered by them. My salesman wasn't in. We bought the fabric and arranged( so we thought,) to have the chairs picked up the next day. The appointed time comes and goes and no one has come for the chairs. My bf calls, and is told by the guy that helped us " oh, I forgot." He says he's helping a customer and will call back. Of course he doesn't. We call again. Talk to a 'manager' who has a hard time understanding what we're saying. Talk to the original salesman. Explain what's going on and tell him we'd prefer him to do the upholstery. Apparently they have their own work shops. He says it going to cause problems. I ask if I should find someone else to do it and he says "Yes, it's probably better". Wow! I say OK we'll come pick up the fabric. We go there and guess what? They can't find the fabric! The one who never called back finally found the paperwork and had our number written wrong. Not that he had tried calling. Turns out he sold us 2 1/2 yards when we needed three. Got a refund and went to Mood Fabrics today. Got three yards plus a little extra of the same fabric for $36. a yard. F and S was $59. Possibly the worst customer service ever...

I have been sewing most of my life, and when I moved from the burbs to LA, I happened on F&S because it was the nearest fabric shop to my apartment. I always found what I needed, and over time I bought better quality fabrics because time was short and clothing from China was cheap. Now I live in the Valley and lament that there are no fabric stores near where I live. None. It's amazing. Don't people sew anymore? There are plenty of yarn shops and even a needlepoint shop or two. Oh, how I miss having F&S just a few minutes away. Instead, I am stuck running off to Joann when I need a spool of thread to hem a pair of pants. I yearn for beautiful fabrics and the time to spend wandering through the shop looking at them and feeling them.

Ok....Seems like everyone has mentioned the staff. The staff is the reason I am giving this fabric haven only 3 stars. I would have only given them 2, but Giselle was absolutely amazing. We did seem to find everything we wanted. BUTTTT.....my friend was looking for a particular type of needle. We both are not very well versed on the different types of needles to say the least. The Asian lady at the counter pointed to where the needles where, but refused to show us. I had to ask her 3 times. Then when we got to the counter, we picked the wrong one. (umm...which was not our fault as we explained we had no idea which one we needed to choose). In the end, she ended up having to come and help us anyway. I was sooooo irritated. There was someone else behind the cash wrap and only one other person behind me....so there was no reason why I couldn't be helped. Not to mention some old guy who had no concept of personal space as I was trying to pay for my items (which has no bearing on how many stars I am giving). The only saving grace was Giselle. She was such a sweetheart. I just wish the other staff was half as friendly and knowledgeable.

So I've been to F&S For the Home more times than I can count over the years and it is one of the nicer fabric stores around for sure, however I have never found what I needed or what I was looking for. Usually when I find a fabric I really like, whether it is because of the pattern, the texture or whatnot - I usually need it in a color they don't have. Not really their fault but every time I go to F&S, I go in with such high hopes and expectations and I leave empty handed. The one or two times I found something that was not exactly what I was looking but that could possibly work but the price was mucho expensive - or I've seen it downtown for a fraction of their price. So it's hard to cough up the money for fabric marked triple or more over what you've seen with only a car ride away to save some substantial cashola! As for the staff, I have never found them overly friendly, if barely friendly, so it's a good thing I don't really need help. Last time I was in, they were more concerned over who had to close up shop that night and one person was pissed she had to do it and was arguing over the phone about it with the store next door (I think). Then I went to the store next door and they were arguing about the same thing; hence my thinking that they were talking to each other. LOL Whatever... I am self-sufficient. I got a hello so that is really all I needed and I appreciated it. Will I still go - yes! It's really rather close by so why not. I'll always have hope for that just right fabric with any project I'm working on at any given time. Then I'll probably end up downtown. :) (the telephone conversation has no negative reflection on my review)

I love F&S. I go to the one holds clothing textiles. Great selection of fabric with great staff. They are all friendly and there to really help;) If you are student don't forget to get student discount...:) you know. Whenever I go I can just look at those beautiful Emilio Pucci or Dior textiles for a long time:) I love those...:)

I'm not much of a sewing girl. I knit. I came here to get buttons and to get some fabric to cover some pillows I had lying around the apartment. First, I had to grab the buttons. There are so many unique buttons here, many of them vintage. Good prices for really unique pieces. Since I knit a lot of purses and love embellishments, I noticed they also had a lot of great handles and straps, which can sometimes be a pain to find. There was not a lot of help in the button department or with notions, but everything was mostly organized in racks and tubes. The higher-end buttons are behind the counter, which makes it a little more difficult if you are replacing something and have to ask for someone to get button after button off the shelf (but hey, that's why they're fancy!)... After getting some GREAT buttons, I ventured into the sea of fabric. The store was pretty packed, so once I got a chance to look at everything, I was just a little worried. I was hoping to find some kitschy-retro fabric, but instead, they had contemporary prints, high-end prints, and plain prints. I suppose that there's a specialty store in LA to find this stuff, but I have not found it yet. However, I did get some great help from one of the staff. Even though I had committed a cardinal sin of not measuring before heading out the door (planning is not my strong suit), she was really nice about it and helped me to approximate the amount of fabric I needed. Ended up getting EXACTLY the right amount, which never happens. My only complaint was that there was some major sticker shock. I had not noticed that the fabric the lady helped me pick out was significantly more expensive than the others (I had a price range in mind, but did not see the price until the cut had been made). In addition, I mistook one of the instructors of the sewing class for someone that actually worked in the store. She was pretty offended, making me feel HORRIBLE the rest of the time I was in that area of the store--which made me all the more anxious to leave. (I guess I was confused because she was wearing the store's shirt and had a kind of nametag on...).

This place is terrific - I went only after getting totally shafted by Lincoln Fabrics, and will remain a lifelong customer. There are times when the fashion district is the only place to go for specialty items, but for all those other times, F&S is the place for me. Well organized, competitively priced with a great selection and staff are cheerful and don't treat you like a moron when you ask dumb questions. I stick to the fabric store mainly, but there are the two other locations across the street for upholstery, etc. too so I'm pretty sure F&S has you covered coming and going. It even has parking - a definite plus.

I've been successfully shopping here for over 20 years. I'm an interior designer and I feel they have a great selection, give great service and have great prices. Recently I had my first Fabric defect. F&S not only Replaced the fabric but made good on the fact that my client had additional upholstery charges... Which they took care of as well. Shout out to F&S I purchased faux leather for a recliner chair. After just a few months a yellow oval stain appeared. I contacted the store , they gave me replacement fabric, a different faux leather. However I had to pay my upholster twice as it wasn't his fault. The fabric was defective maybe a label that had been on it? Anyway after I got the chair back s second time he gave me the fabric. And took a picture of the head cushion so F&S could see it wasn't coming from the foam. I took the fabric and picture to them and I was promptly refunded 100% of the cost for the second reupholstered chair! Now that's customer service! Headed back for more fabric. Thank you so much

Alexx Sanchez, an incredibly helpful, respectful, service oriented employee made my decorating dreams come true! I have been saving to have slipcovers made most urgently for a sleeper love seat and an oversized chair. Alexx helped me rummage through fabrics and mentioned that he and his uncle were in the upholstery business. I provided pictures of the 2 pieces I needed done for the upcoming out of town visitors and he provided a competitive estimate. His winning smile and extraordinary service won me over and I asked him to do the job......and guess what? He arrived to pick up the furniture 5 minutes early and completed the work ON TIME! A miracle in recent experiences with the business world. He delivered the furniture, again arriving 5 minutes ahead of planned. The quality of his work was extraordinary! Perfection! Stunning! I am currently saving my pennies to have home do more slipcovers and upholstery! Look no further and enjoy working with a person and a family owned business who do what they say, meet deadlines, communicate regularly AND do outstanding, quality work! A++++ Thank you Alexx! Bait & Switch... And rude. The F&S Home Store (the one with lots of drapery fabric) just painted a gigantic neon colored sign on all their windows advertising a clearance sale 50-70% off ENTIRE STORE. But it's not the ENTIRE STORE at all. When I asked the sale price on a nearly $50 fabric I was told it was "not on sale" by the cutter. When I asked the cashier (who's worked there for years), she didn't even bother to look at me and said "only those fabrics marked are on sale". Again, I asked about the ENTIRE STORE sign on the windows and she responded "Oh, that's just what the owner had painted." F&S staff has never been all that friendly. But it doesn't matter to me anymore. I'm done shopping here.

What a great experience!! Alexx was quick to contact me with a fair quote. He picks up and delivers and my chair was done to perfection in a little over a week. The chair was very old but Alexx made it like new with refinishing on the legs and new foam. I couldn't be happier and highly recommend his services!!

Great selection of gorgeous home fabrics and very friendly service. Pillows in the front of the store are sooo puuurdy. Rows and rows and rows of bolts to go through. One could really spend quite a bit of time inside looking through. Prices are not low though, so hunt if you're looking for a deal.

Selection and service make this a top-notch place to go. Their selection is so large in fact that they have two shops. You're bound to find the material you need and the staff here can provide helpful advice if needed.

F & S Fabrics is close to work which is the only reason I go there. The sales staff attitude is not the best. Many times I feel invisible. They do have an interesting selection of high-end fabric. It is a great place to browse, but don't expect good service.

A very good selection of fabrics for the do it yourselfer or early to intermediate designer. Fabric styles covering all ranges of use, color and decorating styles. The store offers good customer service with knowledgeable staff available but not too close and bothersome. They don't offer full lines of the most expensive "name' brands but also do not stock poor quality brands. An excellent place to start (and very likely finish) your fabric buying needs.

I was amazed at how much 100% SILK fabrics they have here. Really incredible stuff......from low"er" prices to $189/yard. Ouch! But it is SO worth it!

Let's talk about the Happiest Place on Earth (one of). I like the Fashion District for lower prices, but the little bit more I pay at F&S saves me time and sanity from driving downtown. So I've been replacing my usual downtown spots with F&S. All staff I've interacted with have been cordial, very helpful and knowledgeable (my fav Glen). The colours, the variety, the notions, everything is fantastic. For the SF expats missing Discount Fabrics on 4th and Brannon, F&S should easily fill that void, if not offer more.

I went into a fabric coma when I walked in the door.... Hands down the best price and best selection... I fly from SF to LA to shop for fabric, and I was really impressed.. Home side is fantastic!! the notions, and apparel is truely amazing! I bought 20 yards of the most beautiful vintage tie fabric, best get it before it is gone! If you have any questions, Marie who is the manager she has worked there some 25 years, and she is absolutely delightful. You can tell she loves to be there... and it shows.. From New York to SF and LA.. this is your best bet for great selection, and friendly staff...

Great fabric store with stores for clothing/home sewing and for upholstery. Although not quite as fun as Diamond Foam and Fabrics with the allowing of cutting unlimited samples, which made my childhood, this place has the most gorgeous fabrics and it can be fun just to look around and get inspired. I go to the home sewing/clothing fabric store to the discount bin to find gorgeous fabrics at seriously sliced prices. Be sure to check here next time, and score something fabulous that you will have to find use for, just because it is so special! Some of the attendants have attitude, so be ready for that, but the value is unbeatable. Come here for a wide selection of all kinds of fabrics and at reasonable prices, no matter what you use them for!

I'm kind of over going to this place. I've tried to give it a chance, but the snobby attitude from the staff is just annoying. The last time I went in there, I decided to reupholster a chair that was pretty involved, but I took out books from the library and did a ton of research and bought the appropriate tools. The guy helping me figure out how much yardage to buy raised his eyebrows at me when I said I was going to reupholster it myself. His "OK goodluck with that" face wouldn't let up, and I kept telling him that I like to learn things and want to be good at upholstery and and up for the challenge. I am not sure if he does upholstery and was maybe hoping I would use him, but heaven forbid someone actually come in there who is attempting a hard project and not just interior decorators for rich people. He just kept telling me how hard it's going to be, and discouraging me. Telling me how expensive the brass tacks are, and I told him how i got a box of 1000 for like $14 at a great mom and pop upholstery place in south central. Even as I walked out the door his raised eyebrows remained with skepticism. You should be excited for your consumers, and not discouraging them on their abilities and eagerness to learn. I wish I could post a picture of the chair I finished. It came out great.
